Just wondering if anyone knows what the chances of a m/c are if you conceive the next cycle after a m/c? I read somewhere that it's 80%!!!
I had a natural m/c in late Oct and noticed EWCF on Day 18 (I'm usually a late ovulator). We had sex a couple of days after this, we weren't TTC ( I wanted to wait a couple of cycles) but my DF had returned home after being away for a month and...you can prob guess the rest!
Anyway AF was due yesterday or today and I have been having early PG symptoms (peeing lots, headaches, exhausted, bright yellow wee).
I'm terrified that I could be PG and stand a really high chance of losing this one aswell!
I had a natural m/c at 6 weeks and my doc said that I could try straight away as your body treats it as a period as it was so early - so that what we did and now I am 1 day over my due date! So I am living proof that it can be ok!
Try and relax and what willbe will be!
No way is it 80%. After a natural miscarriage it's usually ok to start trying straight away. Doctors may say wait 1 cycle but usually it's coz it will be easier to date the pregnancy because after a m/c your cycle may be irregular. My GP told me after my m/c there might be a very slight increased chance of another one if I fell pregnant straight away ( like 0.5% increase) but I couldn't find any information to support this.
This time I got pregnant again straight away before AF came back and everything is fine. So no need to stress
Hi V-love, so sorry for your loss
I googled your question but it did`nt give a % it did say that fertility is said to be hightened straight after a m/c but Dr`s sugest that you should wait a cycle because sometimes the lining of the uterus has not had suficient time to rebuild. That said there are lots of ladies that have had pregnancies before a full cycle after a m/c so if you are pg congrats and try to stay calm !! I know it is near imposible....That fear will always be in the back of your mind but it does get easier. The chance of subsequent miscarriages after the first is ment to be the same as your first pg... 1 in 6
Wishing you all the best for the future and look forward to hearing some news soon. When are you going to test ?
Take care
Hi V
I think those stats are rubbish, and have seen very little evidence to prove otherwise.
I had a mc and a d and c, and conceived our gorgeous daughter straight after.
Try not to stress, the reasons for mc in a high number of cases is due to chromosomal problems, because of problems with the egg and sperm at conception.
On the net you will find references to there being a higher incidence of m/c if you conceive straight away but you will find far more that say there is no higher risk at all.
Unfortuantley that was what happend in my case, I didn't wait after my natural m/c and had a second m/c well they called it a chemical pregnancy. I believe it was because my lining did not have sufficent time to heal and rebuild. Im pregnant again now and hope this one will stick after my last chemical pg. But everyone is different and some ladies have had no problems falling after a natural m/c , I think it depends a lot on your body, your diet, your age, etc etc if you know what I mean....so good luck and most of all think positively I'm certainly trying to do that at the moment.
