Trying to Conceive after Still Birth/Recurrent Miscarriage/Late Loss ~ February 2009

Hi everyone! Diana that sounds great! Will they transfer one embie or two? Ahh modern technology it is great, although sometimes I wonder if having all this knowledge at our fingertips makes us more nervous! Take me, I have become addicted to my little monthly US, and spend the last week & 1/2 waiting so nervously for it to come, I am in that freaked out mode again my next one isn't due until the 2 March. To make matters worse after being a good baby and lying head down, bub has decided that it will to be like the brother's and turn around, very annoying! The biggest problem with that is I keep getting a foot or perhaps a hand digging around in my cervix, which seriously makes me nervous. I know all the tricks of the trade to try and get them to turn and have been/will be doing them religously, although didn't help with Corey. Wow 25wks tomorrow (my ticker doesn't really keep up properly) I thought I would have been a bit more relaxed....
Laney - Great news on your little man, I bet it seems so surreal, but you will get to bring this bubba home I am sure.
Jo - Do you get any jabs in your cervix that make you want to cross your legs in case they come out?? (Probably overexaggerating a bit)
Like Jo76 I am not going to go into too many personals as you guys are flying along and I will cross over stories for sure, but just now that I think of you all often.

Woooh, that's great news Diana. The girl at my work who did IVF (that I told you about) only ever got one fertilised egg and it stuck and now she's just over 20wks. Well done!

Diana, that is awesome!!! Great result hun, now we need the eggs to keep growing to day 5 and become blasties!!!! That's what my little bub was, a day 5 blastie. It only takes one!!!!!! Even if you only get one or two blasties, that is great as only the toughest and fittest ones keep on going, so if they take (which they will and they will be sticky!!) you'll have a fantastic chance of BFP!!!!!! You know i'm praying and keeping everything crossed for you hun :pray: :pray: :pray:

Jo76, it's great to hear you're in a more positive state of mind and you're officially TTC. What fantastic news hun!!!! When you get your BFP we're all behind you hun and ready for the exciting ride!!!!

Helen, almost 25 weeks!!!! Congratulation hun! Time is certainly flying by isn't it? Hun, don't beat yourself up about not being relaxed enough. After what you've been through (and all of us will understand this) it's perfectly natural to feel nervous, no matter where you are at in your pregnancy. Give your bub a nice little rub and tell them to flip over so they're not annoying your cervix. And then take a few good long, deep breaths, and pat yourself on the back for doing so well. Beata, I was hooked up to an antibiotic drip for 3 days after I had the part of my D&C, so I think it may be what's got me so run down, although it's been a couple of months... :dunno: Either that or my body just hates me ><; I wanna give you a big hug to :hug: I love love reading your posts, you're always so encouraging. And Yep you have a membership to! I'd love to know who gave me mine... they're naughty! I put in a request for one of those fancy avatar thingy's yesterday hehe, I'm very excited to see what it ends up looking like :lol:

Hi Helen, so glad things are going well for you and I can totally understand your concern with baby pushing on your cervix. Talk to your doctor if it becomes too stressful and worrying for you. WOO HOO for 25 weeks!

Although I would love to get 2 transferred, I will only get one. I am too worried I won't be able to carry the weight of 2 babies due to my incompetent cervix and just don't want to take any chances. I will talk to the FS about it again but I'm pretty sure I know what he'll say - 1 only.

Jo, great to hear you are in a positive frame of mind to start TTC again. I hope the journey is short for you. The biggest of baby vibes are coming your way!

Beata, thanks for your support, you are truly amazing. Your posts are so positive and enouraging that I truly believe all will go well. BTW, you absolutely deserve that Random Act of Kindness thingo so whoever gave it to you, they are absolutely correct!

I called the clinic today to have a chat to one of the nurses, and she said I stimulated too fast and that's why they had to get me in for pick up yesterday and not Friday - they were worried I would over stimulate and have to cancel my cycle. If they kept me going for a few more days I probably would have ended up with the 24 which were the ones in the running from Monday's scan. Oh well, can't complain with 6 or 7, still pretty good from what I am discovering from Jo and Lan's friends.

I get daily updates from the scientist on how they are progressing so will keep you posted. Here is a prayer for each of them -

Ok, so... When I told a friend of mine from school that I was pregnant she pretty much went off at me, asked me why I hadn't used contraception blah blah blah (Jayvan was a surprised, but a very much loved one) When I lost Jayvan she made a joke about DF and I being related and making deformed babies and I got a lecture about how "the world is over populated anyway" etc etc. Fine. She's one of those people who is really self absorbed and sort of says what's going through their mind before thinking about the impact it's going to have on someone else, so we've always sort of just forgiven her for it because it seems she just can't help it.
A few months ago she broke up with her partner she'd been with for 2 years, and went off the pill. D'er!
Of all the friends she has to call, She calls me last night because she hasn't had a period since December, but hadn't slept with anyone after her last period? and is panicking and wanted "advice" as to what she should do. She doesn't know if the father would be her ex boyfriend or some random guy she slept with. And she doesn't want a baby and she doesn't want to have an abortion and blah blah blah. She doesn't even know if she is pregnant yet, anyway because she won't do a test... but, God! Some people! :doh:

Diana, I'm no expert either, but it sounds like a great harvest! It seems we have a couple of embies on the launching pad for girls in here.

Teagz, I'm sympathetic to your thrush problems. I've just finished my second round of antibiotics for a sinus infection I've had since November (and this time it seems it MIGHT have worked), and of course that means I got my second yeast infection right along with them. All this stuff is just crazy, but I'm trying to get myself to ***** less, heh. I don't know what to say about your friend -- some people have such trouble putting themselves in other peoples' shoes that you wonder if they have feet. It seems that she's very stuck in the mindset of a pregnancy being a disaster and that she therefore cannot understand that you see it differently, and that she furthermore is being severely tactless with her choice of words and topics. Of course it's perfectly legitimate for her to be having the panic she's having about being pregnant if that's where she is in here life, but perhaps she should pick someone else to talk to about it if she needs to panic and vent. Since you're only 20, I think the sad truth is that most of your peers will have a hard time seeing pregnancy and babies from your angle. I know I was pretty clumsy about it just 4 years ago when our close friend got pregnant! Anyway, dazzle your friend with your maturity, and if that doesn't work, tell her to buzz off. ;)

As for my thrush I'm soooo onto it now! *hopes she doesn't jinx herself* Yesterday I spent all day comando, I'm taking regular dose of my probiotic stuff, bulk amounts of water, I have changed my washing detergent to a low alergy/no fragrant one and, absolutely no sugar/softdrink/alcohol (not that I touch the stuff anyway) and none of anything else that causes it(I have a list somewhere)! I think I'm more focused on keeping thrush away atm than what I am about getting preg again ;)
I do feel alittle bit odsessive :rolleyes:

diana thats fantastic i got seven eggs. One of those didn't fertilize the first embryo they put in (ernie) didn't take and then eddie became chloe so it does only take one and hopefully this one is another strong when. Our last embryo doubled in cells during the defrost they normally lose some and the doc said that this was great all our embryo's that we have frozen are of a very high grade check this with your fs when they go to freeze them i think it's just a little piece of mind thing. I'm so excited to be going through this with someone it has made me feel really positive. hey to the rest of you lovely ladies.

Diana - I'm so thrilled to hear your news - good luck with everything. Am not up with all the IVF stuff so am not sure what it all means but from the sound of things, its an excellent result :clap:. Congrats to your husband too (after all, he did produce the goods!) ;)

Its my ovulation time again and I'm hoping that now I am at work and about to go back to uni that my mind has been off my ordeal. Everyone keeps telling me that when I stop thinking abou it, it'll happen so who knows... hopefully this is it.

Am giving it this month and then I am going to see my OB/GYN and he can send me off to a FS if he thinks I need it.

Teags - your friend sounds like a nuffy - better to spend your energy on making babies I say!

Teagz - :hug: I hope for your friends sake that she isn't UTD but then again it might be the one thing that changes her perspective a little. I saw pregnancy as a bit of a hinderance to my life plan until I m/c the first time - I was 31 at the time.
I think unless people have been there, particularly in our shoes having lost babies, they really are clueless to how being pregnant changes and affects you. I resented something my best girlfriend said for ages until it occured to me that she just wouldn't have known any better - how could she, she has never been pregnant. Still it doesn't account for her complete lack of tact.
I think if she is going to act so childish then perhaps treat her in the same manner - like a child. Depending on your relationship with her perhaps you buy her a cheapish HPT and be there for her as she takes it ?? Maybe by having you there it may encourage her, also it could stop her being so ridiculous about it - if she is pregnant thats not going to change whether or not she takes a test.

Dee, I love the names you gave your embryos, made me laugh. I have only numbered mine for now but may have to think of some cute names too. Im glad you are feeling positive sharing this experience with me. I feel the same. The clinic rang today and sadly number 7 didn't make it but the other 6 are dividing well. Said they are between 2-5 cells atm. Another update tomorrow morning... :pray:

Beata, Sue or Dee, if my collection was on Wednesday, what day would my cells be at today - day 1 or day 2? My logic (and I don't have much) is that if it generally takes 24 hours to fertilise an egg, then today would be day 1 of cell division right or wrong? I can't seem to find any info on it and it's driving me nuts.

Hi Lovey's!

Well, first off my friend got a neg preg test back, so yay for her. I'm glad she got want she wanted because she was freaking out a little...and I do have to remember not everyone realises what it's like to be in our shoes.

AFM! I got in to work today and one of the first things the girls said to me was "Teagz, are you okay?!" Which just set me off in tears and I got sent home. Blergh. I'm so sick of being sick it's just stressing me out more! I went to the dr today and he took some swabs of my throat so hopefully we'll start getting on top of things!
Last night our TV blew up... it was a 15 year old rear projection plazma thingy so I guess it had a good run, really. We went out last night and bought a brand spanking new plazma (byebye savings!) So I spent the day setting it up - mind you though the only thing it didn't do was walk itself out of the box... it even automatically tuned in the DVD player and radio channels! BUT! While moving out the old TV I knocked over one of it's speakers, which landed against a display cabinet we have and smashed the glass and then landed on my toe, and sliced the top of it off :doh: Ouchies!

wow everyone has been very busy in here. I didn't sign on for one day and I have a ton to catch up on.


Jo, I am so glad that you are felling more positive and ready to TTC. I am glad that bubs and I can inspire you. I also hope that it helps you get through your next pregnancy with less nerves. I know for a fact that the aspirin and clexane are the reasons that I have been able to come so far. The injections are like second nature now. I really don't even think about them, I just do it. They are part of the routine like taking a shower in the morning.

hgirs, my little man still turns all day long. during the last scan he flipped around twice. I guess he still has a lot of room in there. At night he usually likes to be breech. I get huge kicks in the cervix, some of which have started to hurt a bit. My doctor said to get used to it, they just get stronger.
I love and hate my ultrasounds being every 2 weeks. Even when the doctor says that everything looks great I always find something to worry about. I just had one a couple of days ago but it is already a count down to the next one.
