TTC AFTER Late Loss/Recurrent Miscarriage/ Stillbirth

Hi all,

I was very excited to find a :bfp: when I PedOAS this morning!!!! I'm very very happy, though did have a little teary in the shower when I thought back to not so long ago when I found out I was pregnant with Luca.

I go back to work tomorrow. I'm quite anxious about it. I'd love to fast forward for a week and not have to worry about the settling in part.

Next monday night there is a memorial service at the Womens and the pastoral care lady has asked me to take part in the ceremony - should be really lovely. Although such mixed feelings towards the hospital, as they didn't give me proper treatment with Luca, but I'm relying on them to bring my next bub safely into the world. I'm hoping the service there brings some healing.

On the weekend DH and I planted a mulberry tree for Luca at my dad's weekend property in Araleun. It was a very special occasion for us. Our surname means mulberry in Italian so that's what we chose. I've got lots of news all of a sudden!

Bec, my DH is awful sick too. Anyone would think the sky is falling in. Heaven forbid if they had to have the babies. We'd be extinct!

Bec, that is fantastic news congratulations :happyforyou: I am so very happy for you :dance:. It sounds like you have lots of mixed emotions at the moment. Really lovely thing to plant the Mulberry tree in honour of Luca, a beautiful way of having a 'physical' reminder of him in the form of a lovely strong tree. I hope the memorial service is also another healing time for you. I wish you a happy & healthy 9-months :D

Planting the Mulberry Tree for Luca is a lovely idea, we would like to do the same thing for Riley when we move to our new home. I hope the memorial service gives you some healing and i can understand your mixed feelings towards to hospital :hug:

Samcougar - I loved it! As if men have a higher tolerance level to pain than women! Just see one of them have a bikini wax and all doubt as to who can handle pain disappears - of course it's us women who are the stronger! They're just kidding themselves!

AFM, started taking fresh royal jelly yesterday (yuck!) but apparently it is very good for improving egg quality (and sperm quality too) and general health and wellbeing. My AP suggested I take it when I asked about it. I had read a bit about it on another BB thread. Had some EWCM today and even though OPK is still a faint line, we DTD anyway, in the hope that we catch this egg. I have felt definite pains in the ovaries over the last few days so hopefully things are finally starting to happen in that department. Wouldn't it be great to come back from our holliday with a BFP! Speaking of which, 2 working days to go :dance:

We're going out to dinner tonight to celebrate being on holiday. :dance:

Driving home from work was a little sad this afternoon. The last time I was leaving on holiday was back in February when we were getting married and going on our honeymoon, and I was almost 16 weeks pg. So that was a bit sad. But I am determined to enjoy our holiday and relax.

I'll be thinking of you girls. I really hope that we see the run of BFPs continue in this thread :pray:

Girls, I won't do personals as I just popped in to wish Cheryl a nice holiday. I have been suffering m/s pretty much all day, and although I can't complain as that is a good sign, I am absolutely exhausted when I get home from work so haven't been on Belly much. Have been going to bed at about 9 each night, then wake up at 3 or 4 am and need to eat something so I don't feel sick. Anyway, hope everyone is good and I will continue to lurk on everyone. Aslo, a message from Diana to say thank you so much for everyone's well wishes, she is now 26 weeks & going strong!

Just wanted to pop in and say hi and see how you were all doing!
Hubby and I thought we were going to wait but after extensive chats we realised that we want to be parents and therefore have decided that we are back on the bus - so to speak!
So currently I am 2 DPO - luckily for me my cycle seems to have stayed at 28 days which is crazy as I have never been this regular :dance:
I am on a stay-at-home two week holiday to catch up on things and give myself lots of rest - also on my TWW. Fits in perfectly. Lots of walking and resting.

AFM, work was terrible. I didn't realise that I would come across people who didn't know (because you don't talk about stillbirth :protest: ). And then there's the stuff I got everywhere else months ago... people pretending nothing's happened, and the few that say anything say things like 'well at least you can get pregnant'. My boss has been particularly crap. Needless to say I haven't told anyone at work that I'm pregnant again. I was going to but everything just gave me such a bad feeling.
I know in some ways that no one can say the right thing. You just aren't meant to return from maternity leave without a baby.

Sorry for the winge! I'm hoping next week will be better.

Bec, I know how you feel when you go back to work and some people don't even acknowledge that you were pg. I was petrified people would swarm me when I came back to work, but when some of them kept their distance and said nothing, that really HURT. But, some people just don't know how to handle tough situations like these, so they keep their distance (that's what my only brother did :rolleyes:)

Beata, ROLF, no there needs to be an outlet sometimes! I promised myself I'd never whine once about this preg but every now and again I can't help but tell DF about my growing belly pains!
Everything is good with me! Plans are coming along nicely. For our wedding gifts we're giving the guys shooter glasses and the girls measuring spoons that are hearts and have mushy things like "a teaspoon of devotion" etch into them. They all arrived today! Very exciting & they're very pretty!
Boofhead if ticking along nicely as well, he is very active, and i'm starting to get a few big jabs now which I love!
I hope your MS settles soon, it is the pits. Bring on 14 weeks!
Good luck with your scan today too. I'm sure you won't need it though ;)

He wont even let me near him with tweezers after i found a stray hair growing out of his nose (It was so gross, i nearly died when i seen it!) anyway I plucked it out when he wasn't expecting it and he nearly went through the roof!! :ROFL:

I have missed BB! My computer has been out of action.. Still doesn't work properly! Anyway, I had a quick scan of posts.. Way too many to catch up on, so this is where I am at: I went off the pill end of May and have finally stopped bleeding for more than a week at a time, so I am REALLY hoping my cycles are getting better. I Started TAFE doing Aged Care and loving it. It is good to have something to think about other than Taite and Seth and TTC.. I finish my course in Nov and HOPE to be pregnant then or soon after.. Fingers crossed for me! :D

Just a quick post what do you think about these pains Im having? I am 4 DPO and am having really weird tugging sensations around both ovaries, one is actually quite painful at times! Way too early for a pg test and ovulation test isnt picking up a surge which I wouldnt expect anyway due to ovulating last Saturday. So I am quite concerned. I had these sensations or quite like them when I fell with Alexander but I also had them when I was getting AF last month. The only two things I can think of are did I ovulate earlier than predicted or have my cycles changed to really short ones and am expecting AF anyday :rolleyes: I hope not cos it only finished last Tuesday! Strange tingles in my bb's too. I am not expecting you to say anything as it is too early but has anyone else experienced this at all?

Hi Blessedatlast, congrats on starting the Tafe course, good to hear you are enjoying it. I think it helps to keep your mind of ttc & our angels as well, it can get quite overwhelming at times, but seems like you have some great direction & plans. I really pray you get your BFP soon :pray:

Aries, glad that you weren't gone for long :D. Not sure about the pains you are experiencing, but I wouldn't be too concerned right now. If your cycle's are usually regular, I am sure you did O. I'm fairly sure I have had similar pains in the past. I really pray there is an attachment happening, that would be rather nice, wouldn't it :D Take care & keep us posted.

Beata, hope you are feeling ok and getting through the m/s. I seem to get mine at night right when I am trying to get to sleep.

Aries, those pains could be O pains. In my last cycle, I O'd on Tuesday (as I had to do the ovulation test for the FET) and I had these weird painful stabs around my right ovary. I don't know if I told you, but 2 days after I O'd I was in so much pain I broke out in a sweat and almost fainted and thought my FET would get cancelled. I rang the IVF nurse and she told me it's O pain most likely. Are you using the O testing kits? They are very good at showing you when you actually O.

Megan, I am more than sure that everything will be fine with your NT scan. Will keep my fingers crossed for you, but you won't need it! I hope all is well with you otherwise, my m/s seems to be improving and I went to see the AP yesterday and will continue to go until I feel better.

Bec, hope you're feeling good and have a sticky one on board :pray:

Samcougar, how funny is your DH! I went through the same thing, my DP thought we'd better DTD everyday for 2 weeks around O time in case we catch that eggie. Needless to say, it didn't happen, haha. Praying you catch your lovely eggie hun :pray:

Hey, yeah I had it yesterday :)
I have actually been having monthly scans to keep an eye on any signs of hydrops reoccuring (fluid build up in the internal cavity) and so far everything is excellent. But yes, the big one was yesterday and everything is looking spot on which is reassuring and bubs is measuring a week ahead of dates. And He is definately a boy - i have photographic evidence now ;)
While I was having the scan though the guy doing it paused for a moment and gasped quite shockingly, and i thought he'd found something wrong... but he was gasping becuase the computer had just told him he only had 2G of memory left :rolleyes: Gave me quite a nice shock.

And Thanks Berry! Yep another little Boy. Everyone was sure we were having a girl so it was quite a surprise/shock! :)

Teagz, fantastic news about the scan, I am sure it was a huge relief to have it confirmed that all is well.

Beata, glad your m/s is settling down, mine has as well, which is good. It will be nice for you to finish up at Christmas time. When is you EDD? must be close to mine, 11 March?

Hi Aries, I hated the TWW. I really pray that this is your month hun and the waiting is over :pray: Re; your question about the O type pain, I remember reading somewhere that you can still get O pain up to a couple of days after O happened. Not sure if that helps and it may pay to do some reading on it yourself if interested to confirm.

I finished at christmas time last year too. It was a really good time to leave.

I've been useless this year but we've all been through so much. It's an achievement to get out of bed in the morning and go through the day imo. :bluedust:

Berry, that's great about the m/s. Good luck with the NT scan. I haven't had one with either of mine but I think I will this time as I worried during Luca's pregnancy.

AFM, Has anyone else thought about how they would feel if their subsequent baby was disabled in any way. Because Luca was perfect I do worry about it - could I love that baby or would I want my perfect baby back even more? Generally I don't see my next baby as a replacement baby or a lesser baby but I don't know how I'd feel if he or she was not as whole and perfect as Luca, and it makes me feel bad to even think it.

I'm plodding along ok. Feeling exhausted but only vaguely queasy all the time. Only 10 weeks until my thesis for my masters is due so I'm pretty much starting to do that in all my spare time (spare time ha ha). Steve has taken Eliana to visit his mum in the country this afternoon so I've got some time to work on it now.

The memorial service at the hospital was really good but I can't say it magically healed my feelings towards them - after all the clinicians don't go to the service. It was for all the parents whose babies had died there in the past year and there were lots of people there :cry:

I'm seeing my grief counsellor tomorrow. Try to work on that guilt a bit more. Sigh. I've done my homework so hopefully it will help.

Bec, I really don't know what to write here to help you but I hope this helps, It's not quiet the same situation though. My Nan has a disabled son (my Uncle) he's 45 now. I had a chat with her today about how you feel and she said to tell you she can understand how you feel but no matter what your child is like, they are still your child and no one can take that privlage away and from the moment you lay eyes on your little one all you feel is love and nothing else matters. Worring about tomorrow can't help today and what will happen, will happen. so live for today. :hug:

AFM I have just entered my TWW (i really think we may have caught it :pray:) damn my long cycle i wish i had a 28 day instead of 35 arghhh... anyway it was our 1st wedding anniversary yesterday, I had to work but when i got home DH had cleaned, washed and cooked a really nice tea for the both of us (he's such a sweetie) he even got a bottle of fake wine (just in case;))

Mummabec - My DH and I had this discussion just the other night. When Alexander was born we found out that he was perfectly formed for his age, no abnormalities or anything. When I was pg we had every test given to us and they all came back in the low ranges. I asked DH the other day about our next little bundle and I wanted to know what he would do if the baby wasnt as healthy as Alex? His answer (which was what I had already decided too) was that if we are blessed to have another baby then we will have what we are given.
I dont think a new baby will ever replace the love you have for Luca but I also think you will have so much love to give that it will not matter in the end. Dont feel bad, Im sure it's all part of the process :hug:

AFM - I am 9DPO today and am feeling very hopeful. Just waiting it out...... so hard but I can do it. I will NOT test until I am officially late, that being Sunday onwards. I was thinking if we are pg then I was wondering how hard it would to keep it to myself and tell DH on Fathers Day in a couple of weeks? Does anyone think this is wrong, should I tell him as soon as I find out? Gotta be pg first...........

AFM, I had my first appointment at the hospital on friday. Just a talkfest really. The consultant went out of his way to make sure I'm as happy as possible and getting what I need. Which of course was very different to my first appointment last time, which was a 5 minute session when I was 17 weeks. And I'm tired. Ridiculously tired.

AFM, I have my 12-wk NT scan on Friday. Quite nervous as we get closer, I think I'll lose it if there are any problems again. Quietly praying for a positive result :pray:

Hi ladies

We're staying with friends at the moment so finally have some internet access. I have had a quick catch up on where everyone is at and am very glad to hear that scans and appointments are all going well. No news from me although I am fairly certain that I O'd either on the flight over from Australia or the first day we were in Paris. We tried to maximise our chances and no AF yet, so who knows. :pray: Trying to remember to take our daily vitamins and chinese herbs twice a day has been a bit of a chore, but we don't want to undo our good work so far, although DH has been enjoying the red wine in France so not many alcohol free days. I don't have any POAS with me so will have to work up the courage to decide what to do - test or just wait until the end of our holiday.

Anyway, must go. It's gorgeous weather here and we are having a great time.
