Hi Bella whaoo your twin 1 is nearly the the size of my little one Im hoping he wll put on some weight before Friday. Thats great news your little men are doing so well, I just know you are going to go all the way. If we stayed close to each other we could catch up for a coffee after the boys are born. There is another twin mummy in here I was thinking of popping in to say hello she has a little boy. The nurses have told us to catch up but I don't want to intruded if she has a visitors or is having a nap. I might see if the nurses can set up a time for us to meet.
AFM I had a great time yesterday DD loved it she got to eat what ever she wanted and she also got a heap of pressies. It was so good to be home, when I got home I laid on my bed for about 20 mins it felt so good not long now.
Keep on baking xxxx

Hi Azz,
How are you feeling about Friday? God i an't beleive it's coming so quickly. My girlfriend had her little girl at 32 weeks last January weighed 1500g she had been given the steroids after her waters broke a week before. Her little girl did fantasticly - she needed feeding with a tube to begin with but then began putting on weight and was breast and bottle feeding by the time she went home. She needed no help with breathing i don't even think she had any oxygen needs at all. She had a vaginal birth and was able to cuddle her for an hour before she went to SCN. Today she is a checky little girl happy and healthy. Thought that a nice story may cheer you up! I have been saying little prayers for you and will continue!!!;)
Is your mum still there helping out with DD?
Hello to everyone else who may be lurking!!
AFM - very tired the past few days - have been sleeping almost 12 hours a night! I'm not complaining since this is probably the last time in my life i will be able to!!! All good otherwise - usual aches and pains but hey that what carrying twins will do!
Take care everyone
will pop back later

Hi all,
Finally finding time to pop in and say hi!
My girls arrived on 7/7/09 - they are now just over three weeks. After I went into hospital my high blood pressure quickly developed into pre-eclampsia and I ended up having a ceasar about three days later. I was 36+2.
Twin A was born at 2.35kg and came up to the ward with me. She fed well from the beginning and today was weighed at 2.74kg!!
Twin B was born smaller, only 1.87kg. She went straight to intensive care and was on oxygen at first and was fed by tube. She came off oxygen after 15 hours, but stayed in intensive care for three weeks while she learnt to feed by sucking. She came home with Mum and Dad yesterday and we're very happy to finally have both our little girls home with us.
Hope you're all doing well, my thoughts are with you all who are holding your little babies in there.

Hi Bella thanks for that lovely story I have been thinking about friday and what is going to happen but I think I will just go with the flow and try not to over analise it. My Mum is still here and my Dad and brother came down as well hoping that the boys come when the are here My Dad leaves on Saturday great timing and my brother leaves following Wednesday I am happy that they get to see the boys before they leave.
I reacon once you hit the 25 week mark you hit a wall and have nana naps everyday but your right make the most of it now, I was just thinking the samething today I love my sleep and thought this is my last week for nana naps even though the boys wont be in my room I still have to get up every 3 hours and express milk.
Argon :happyforyou: yah they are home with you. Thanks for popping in I have been thinking about you. Im glad to hear your little one is doing well.

Kezza that is great sleeping through the night at 2 months :clap: Whaoo I am really going to pick your brain when the time comes. What are you doing up at 10.25pm is it mummy time  How are you going with BF are you using a BF pillow got any advice on expressing, Sorry about the questions.
How you going Miss Bella?
Spoke to OB yesterday and everything is all set for friday just waiting for the anesthesologist to come down and have a chat about his role then bring on Friday oooooh
-
My goodness - Kezza, you gave me a shock there when I read yours were sleeping through the night and you said they'd been born 2 days after mine! Then I realised I had said mine were born 7/7/09, when in reality they were born 7/9/09. Imagine sleeping through at 3 weeks!! :) Congratulations on acheiving that though at 2 months - hopefully my girls will do the same! At the moment we are not letting them go more than 4 hours between feeds. The little one is so little and gets sleepy but she really needs to eat so we wake them both to keep them in the same cycle. We're hoping she'll crack 2kg by this weekend. I think once she's over 2.5kg I'll start to relax about letting her sleep longer, but for now I just need to keep her gaining weight so they don't take her back to the NICU.
Thanks for your good wishes Azz. I think of you also. I hope this Friday goes well for you - I'll be sending you good luck vibes.
Cheers, argon

Azz all the very best for tomorrow, prayers ascending for healthy little bubs.

Azz good luck hunny, I hope it all goes well for you.
Argon I thought it was a bit strange when you said they were born 7/7  I understand how confused you get though, it was like I was in some sort of dream world and wasn't on this planet!! Yes we had to make sure ours were'nt going past 4 hourly feeds too due to low birth weights, but once they get past 3kgs it's not so critical.
It was about 5 nights ago, I had my doubts that they were waking because they were hungry so I experimented. When one of them woke up and started crying I didn't go into to her and let her cry for a while, after 5 mins she went back to sleep and we didn't hear a peep out of them all night until the next morning! And they've done the same since. We have a nice calming routine at around 7.30pm it's bath time, they get a nice relaxing bath with some lavender oil. Then they get fed in our bedroom, as they associate being fed in the bedroom, with night feeds and off to bed they go. They sometimes wake in the night, but we leave them and they soon go back to sleep on their own. It's important to teach your babies to settle on their own, to make your life easier and keep your sanity intact. It does them no harm to have a bit of a cry as long as they aren't in pain, have full tummies and clean bottoms. You can usually tell when your baby is distressed, then it's ok to give them a comforting cuddle. Usually my two have that I'm gonna cry but I'm too tired to give it my all sort of cry when they are tired, those are the times when they can be left to settle themselves.
Anyway I have lots to catch up on so have to go now.
Bella your doing a fab job hunny, I hope you have many more weeks of baking.:D

You wouldn't believe it my c-section got cancelled there are no more incubators left in the nursery a lady gave birth to triplets lastnight how can I be mad about that. My OB goes on holidays on saturday so she has re-booked me in on tuesday the 13th over a week away. My Dad changed his flight to saturday so he could see the boys but looks like he is going to miss them.
I have a doppler scan tomorrow to check how they are going.
-
Oh Azz you must be a little dissapointed but also a little relieved. I think i would be going very crazy by now! So if you get to the 12th how far along will you be? As long as the bubs stay happy they are better off in you than in NICU! What an emotional rollacoaster.
Take care and pop in and let us know how your scan goes today.

Hey all,
Azz - how annoying. It's a strange system where such decisions can be made based on factors such as NICU beds, but that's how it is. When my OB decided to go forward with delivering mine one of her reasons was that there were two beds inthe NICU available and she didn't want to wait a few more days and then have them not available. At the time I thought it was a bad way to make such decisions but in retrospect if my little girl had had to be transferred to another hospital it would have been a lot harder on all of us. (Also, in the end it was best they were delivered when they were anyway because my blood platelets dropped so low the evening after I delivered that if we'd waited another day I would have had to have a ceasarean under a general instead of an epidural.) So I'm sure it's all for the best, and it will give your boys a chance to get a little bit bigger too.
Kezza - very impressive. Once mine get over 3kg we'll start to stretch them a bit overnight, but at the moment my little one is still only about 2kg. My hubby is still off work for another month so it would be great to have nights a bit more settled by the time he goes back - that's my goal. The girls are fairly good a self settling, so hopefully that will bode well.
Bella - hope you're doing ok holding in there. I remember how uncomfortable I was in the evenings. You know, I think I'm actually getting more sleep now they are here, even with the four hourly feeds, because I was struggling to sleep at the end and was waking up, I kid you not, 10-12 times during the night to pee!
My little girl has taken a bit of a turn for the worse with her feeding in the last week. When we started her on the breast in hospital she was a champion, attaching so well. Now she seems to be stuggling. She kind of smacks her lips too much and doesn't attach properly so she gets no milk and then she comes off and we have to try again. My personal theory is that the last two days in the NICU, when they moved her from breast+tube to breast+bottle, had led to nipple confusion. I'm not an expert of course but I can't explain the change any other way. So I'm avoiding giving her anything except the breast for a bit to see whether things can improve. Feeding the girls at the same time isn't too hard when they are attaching ok, but when I need to fiddle around with one, I can't do it properly without elbowing the other in the face!!!
Anway, off to give babies a bath. Sorry for the long post!!
Argon xx
