Hi BDT: Congrats on the Pregnancy. That is awesome news. Happy Belated Birthday to your girls also. Yep, I'm in QLD but not brisbane. I'm in the Toowoomba region. 36 weeks today, I am so happy. I feel like I have achieved such a great accomplishment. I'm not really too sure what the standard pregnancy is with twins but I feel that we are doing so well. I'm looking forward to meeting the little cherubs though.

Kezzabird, my hubby is 40 and can't pick up after him self lol :). Maybe it is a boy thing? The girls sound like they are doing really well. Can you recommend any toddler books, I am starting to get temper tantrums and some stubborness and challenges feeding them and crying to be picked up all the time and lots of fun things like that, and am a little lost and need to read up on how to handle this?
Hope, 36 weeks is wonderful and well done. I think in the end all that really matters is getting them into the world safely, the longer they can cook the better, but early bubs do just as well. My SIL had her triplets at 34 weeks, it took a bit of time, but now you would not know they were premmie, and into everything they are. I had my girls at 37 weeks with a schedule CS, both were breech unfortunately and I also got obstetric colestasis (a bile acid/liver problem which can increase the risk of still birth so they induce early). I don't know how much further I could have gone but I was feeling good, though stretched to the limit. Just when I thought I couldn't grow any more :). I think because of being 37 weeks I was so lucky the girls didn't need any time in special care, I held them while they stitched me up, had skin to skin in recovery and they were on the breast in the nursery within 25 minutes or so. It was perfect. I hope it will be for you too, are you trying for a VB or will you have a CS or is it a wait and see?

OMG - BDT CONGRATULATIONS!!!!! Wow your a brave woman so how many weeks are you - not twins?!! I hope your feeling well and getting some rest. Your girls are beautiful and are so advanced .... well advanced compared to my little men! It must be a boy thing lol!

Well all good with us - the boys are soooo busy not that i have to tell you lot! They have just started family day care 2 days a week so i'm half back at work and the other half trying to find my sanity!! They love it and it has been really good for them to have a bit of "no mum time!" And i'm really enjoying using my brain again and getting a small amount of "me" back if you know what i mean so all in all it's working great for us! We go to twins playgroup and a "normal playgroup" and just about to start swimming lessons. Not sure if i mentioned before but we moved when the boys were 6months old up to a country town (not small small but we call it country!) we love it the community is great and we have chickens that the boys love!!!!
Anyway enough from me if your wondering why i'm typing this at 230am - im working night shift!!!!

Just thought I'd better pop in to quickly to update you all. I am now officially part of the twin team.
Matthew John James 6lb 2oz and Ryan John Jordan 5lp 6oz entered the world on the 1st of march. They are both doing extremely well. They spent a short stint in the SCN but came home to us on the 11th of march. I am now a mummy of two adorable twin boys. Let the fun begin!!!

Hope I congratulated you on your birth announcement thread, but I'll congratulate you again CONGRATULATIONS!!!! :happyforyou: I hope all is going well and you're getting plenty of help.
BDT I have got SOS toddler book, Tizzie has some tips in there on how to deal with tantrums etc. Regarding the crying to be picked up thing, my two went through that stage too. I guess you just have to figure out what is attention seeking and what is genuine upset. Ignore the attention seeking crying and praise the happy playful behavior. They went through a stage of not wanting to go into the play pen, but I stuck to my guns and said "nope, mummy has to cook dinner now, you are going in the play pen and that's that, go play with your toys" . Then they got ignored whilst I prepared dinner, now they just accept that they go in the play pen when I have to prepare dinner or take a shower or when they are being complete pain in the bums ;) My two now have started to bite each other to get a toy or what ever off the other one, it's getting a little better, but jeeze it keeps you on your toes that's for sure! I find they do it more when they are tired around just before dinner time, out of frustration, I think more than anything.
Bella, my two have just gone into F Daycare too, only one day a week though. It's to give me a breather, so I can catch up on stuff and also to help out my 7 year. He's having trouble settling into grade 1, so I'm doing some parent help up at the school to see if I can help him settle a bit better. They've been going for 2 weeks now, and seem to love it. It's really strange when I go home to an empty house though. Last week I got home and decided to make myself a hot breakfast, I put 4 slices of bread in the toaster forgetting that the girls weren't there! :D

I seriously need some help/advice about BFing and FFing. I am feeling quite torn right about now. I hope you all don't mind me asking about this.
I am currently BFing my boys but am really struggling. I'm having attachment issues with one of the boys and the other one is only getting the fore-milk and is suffering from only getting that and not the hinemilk. It gets unbearable to try to settle him. My husband works away from home so I am on my own with two newborn babies and finding it very hard at the moment as far as feed time goes. I am in two minds right now. Part of me desperately wants to hang in there with BFing as I keep getting told that it is better for them than FFing. My DH is also a huge BFing fan and a bit against FFing. I honestly don't really enjoy BFing though (not that my enjoyment should matter, it is all about what is best for my little men). I have been expressing all day yesterday, last night and today and bottle feeding them EBM rather than putting them on my breast. I have much preferred feeding them by bottle. It's so much easier and quicker and I am not in pain with it. Last night I gave them a feed of Formula at 7pm and they didn't wake for their next feed until 2am. Usually they are every 3 hours on the dot. Since doing all of this, they have been a lot more settled and easier to deal with. This afternoon I tried BFing them again and since then they have been very unsettled. It is soooo hard at the moment. I really don't know what to do.
I guess what I am asking is what did or what are you all finding works best for you. I really want them to get the goodness of the breast milk but I am really struggling with the BFing. Who has used formula and did you have any trouble with it? Any advice, tips, stories - ANYTHING will be of great help.

Mrs S, congratulations! Being a multiple mummy is so special. Overwhelming and exhausting, but so worth it. You get so many melt your heart moments when they start to interact with each other and it's just so lovely to have two gorgeous bundles to cuddle at the same time. How are you going carrying two? It is pretty exhausting towards the end, do you have a date for cs? or are you hoping to go down the vb route? Awe I'm getting all excited again, I love to hear about other pregnant twin mums. :-)

Aaawww i just watched those 2 twin boys "talking" to each other on sunrise had me blubbering so cute!! Carrying twins well yes exhausting is one word for it lol so different to my singleton pregnancies, i think my back is about to snap im usually 5' 1 and a size 6/8 so its taking its toll but at least im used to no sleep now! Also finding it hard to breathe at night when laying down whether its on my side or back but back i cant do for long without feeling sick.
I was going to attempt a VBAC but the strain this pregnancy has put on me I'll be going a c-sec i actually feel better in my head about going down that route, i dont have a date yet though the hospital wont book it in until 34 weeks - although many dont think ill make it that far!

Oh hang in there mrs S I'm only 5'2 and a size 8-10, only a wee bit bigger than you, I made it to 36+6 but boy I was bursting at the seams! Luckily for me both heads were down and I managed to do a VB, and (not through choice), but I didn't have any drugs either! We'd left it too late to put the epi drugs in the line and Suzanna's head made it's way into the birth canal. But I'm so glad I didn't have drugs though, I was up and about the very next day and ready to go home! I know it's hard but do try to bake them for as long as poss, my two were really tiny, only 4lb13 and 4lb14. They had to spend a week in special care because they were weak feeders, and they were having trouble maintaining their body temps.

Thought I'd pop in n say hi my twins are arriving Monday if not sooner I've lost my plug, getting contractions that even sleeping tablets cantknock off and urinating a lot! But I'm in hospital yetnot dilating so playing a very painful, stressful waiting game!

Hey Strawberry, congrats to you, I also have twin girls. Jennifer and Suzanna, they will be 2 in July. I can't believe how quickly the time has gone.
And hello and congrats to Mrs Cricket too!!! It's nice to see some new people in here. I don't come onto BB much anymore, I just don't have time. But when I get a reminder in my in box about this thread I am straight on.
