How early did you know/suspect multiples?

    Hi ladies!

This is my 3rd pg. I am 4w3d and already noticing that my belly is starting to grow. Nausea has hit me earlier this time and I am knackered.

Fraternal twins run in my side of the family. They haven't skipped a generation maternally for hundreds of years.

So what do you all think? how early did you suspect or just 'know' there was more than one? Do you think my intuition could be right?

I had no idea with my first set till I lost one.

But with this last set, I knew straight away.

I was extremely sick, extremely tired, had super high hcg levels, high blood pressure, and a very very strong feeling. I also felt something wasn't right and at my 6 wk ultrasound, we found a second bubbs, but the sac was in the midst of colapsing.

I also have since worked out with my dates I was getting very definate positives off HPT's VERY early, at 9dpo it came up straight away.

    Good luck, hon...

I got so big so quick with my 3rd I though there had to be twins in there always had to ask if there isnt another heart beat.... Never was and only had one baby girl... I think with the 3rd as your body has been there a few times before it goes staight to been round LOL.... I am always sick so there was no difference there the heat too could be knocking you around a bit as to why you are sicker this time or you could be just having a different sex to the last PG....

    Hi,
I think I kind of knew from the start.
We found out at our 6 week scan and I said to the doctor then "Oh thank god, at least that explains why I am already showing!"
Although I do remember going to bed the night before our first scan, patting my stomach and thinking "Oh well, this will be the last night I can pretend there are two" How right I was - after that I KNEW there were two!
Best of luck with your pregnancy, however many you are having!

I think if you mention that fraternal twins run in your family the doc should send you for a scan asap. My DH's cousin didn't go to the doc til about 16 weeks with her first. When he found out she was a fraternal twin he sent her for an emergency u/s. Only one.
When she fell pg the second time she had her first scan at 7 weeks - just to be safe.....She now has 7 month old identical twin girls!

Another friend waited with her 2nd pg til ahe was around 5 months. She never suspected a thing, but my MIL did. Sent for an emergency u/s coz her measurements said she only had 4 weeks to go......wrong! Still 4 months, but there were 2 babies hiding in there.
Her brother was a fraternal twin, but they lost one early in the pg & her aunt had fraternal twins, so no skipping generations there.

Go ask for a scan or a BT, really high HCG levels can be an indicater too.

I got a call from the birth centre a few minutes ago. They asked me to go to a GP (they recommended one for me) and get bloods and request an early scan. We head in to the Dr at 1:10 qld time today. We will know how many are there by the end of the month I think!

Whooohooo how exciting for you, congrats on your BFP. I was pretty sure before my 5 week scan. I had pain in both ovaries and was as sick as a dog. Not so much tummy growth, but just intuition, IFYKWIM. We are expecting fraternal B/G twins so I guess I ovulated from each ovary.

All the best, cant wait to find out the news.

We had no idea. This is our 2nd pg but I showed early and grew out of my jeans at 6wks. I thought it was because my body was making a head start on growing the belly.

I almost bolted out the door when i found out we were having twins during our dating scan. I blamed DH but of course he had nothing to do with it.

Hope you find out soon. Congrats either way on the 3rd pg.
