Visit to see the nurse

We went to see the nurse for their 10 months yesterday. I have to say that, although they are in good health, I always dread those visits because I am scared she might find something wrong with the twins.

But their weight and lenght seem to be ok for their age, except that Samuel is a bit shorter than normal and Sarah is a bit taller than normal.

But they're still not crawling, so nurse said that if by the next 2 months, they don't crawl, she'll refer us to a specialist. And now I feel like I am putting the pressure on them to crawl and do things normal 10 month-old do.

Also, I have to take them to the optometrist because when, they look at you very close, one of their eyes is a bit lazy. I have an appointment on Tuesday.

I hope everything will be fine.

Hi Chris,
I'm sure everything is going to be ok they will probably take thier time I know my sisters son didn't roll over till he was 10 months and didn't get walking till 14months so every bubbas different, Both of my singles walked by 10 months but I don't expect our twinnies to walk till they are mabye 1yr from what I"ve herd with twins is they don't always get going because they don't have to find things to occupy them cause they have each other.

Hi Chris,

I'm sure Sarah and Samuel will do fine. I know that visits to medical professionals are always dread worthy, I think it's in their job description to make the mother second guess themselves and it is normal for you to worry - the sign of a great Mum!

I just wanted to share with you my experiences. Immy and Maddy were born at 35 weeks. Immy didn't start sitting until she was 8 months old and didn't really start crawling until she was about 11 months old, walked at 14 months and hasn't looked back since.
Her twin sister, crawled at 6 months and walked at 12 months. They are both just fine now. Never did anyone suggest to me that they were behind but when I had my third daughter, I kind of realised that they had developed slower.

Ivy and Noah have been slow to get started too and thay have been going to an early intervention centre since they were about six months old. It is great. They go to a baby group once a week and there are speech therapists, physios and OT present at least once a month. It has only been all positives since we started there. Now they are up and cruising the furniture and really have only been four point crawling for a month. Something, I thought would never come!
Anyway, I'm sure you know every baby is different, Sarah and Samuel are gorgeous little ones and will develop according to their own plans!

Thanks for your reply. I know it's not easy being a mum. I worry about anything. My twins were also born at 34w6d. And my mum told me that, me, myself didn't start crawling until I was almost 11 months, and walking when a 16 months old. But I started talking very early.

I guess I just have to see what happens. I will try to start Gymbaroo the next term. It might help. And, who knows what might happen in 1 month?

Hi girls,

We went to the optometrist today. There is nothing really abnormal with their eyes. He checked them thouroughly. He just said that their eyeballs are shaped like a football instead of a basketball. This should come back to normal. They might have to wear glasses in the future. Who knows... No operation is needed.

Sarah held her bottle and fed herself for the first time today. I am so proud of her. I am proud of both of them. They are both doing their own thing at their own pace. I think I was worried too much before.
