Whats the point??? Change of name,..

So we just met with the celebrant for the wedding to fill out the paper work.
Last year i changed my name with BDM to my stepdads surname. I did this so that his biological dads name wouldn''t be on DD's birth cert or my wedding cert. As it turns out....on the wedding cert, my biologicals dads details still have to be there.
The whole point of changing of name was so I didn't have to have any links to him!!!!!

So if I can only change my name on things like my passport and medicare whats the point in changing it so it shows on things that matter...eg my marriage certificate!?!?!? (yes i know passports etc matter, but i'm sure you know what i mean )

I only changed my name because DH's surname was easier to spell than mine

Yeah I'm changing my name to DF's name but my maiden name is also on the certificate apparently and this will my my biological dads name rather than my step dads name despite having changed it with BDM.

I can understand how u feel. I don't see my dad (he was abusive) and even though my mum and brothers and sisters still have his last night I was very happy when I got married to shed that name and it definitely annoys me that my name on my ds's birth cert is listed as my maiden name...its not my name (we were married for well over a year when ds1 was born) I suppose they look as urstep dads name the same as they would ur marital name...something u have changed it to. But really I dont understand the need to have it listed as such to track back to that name.

Surely no one u need to use birth cert as id needs that info so surely it would be enough for bdm to just keep a record for themselves, this could be hurtful for ppl like urselves or others that have been adopted and changed their names etc

Seriously? I'd almost not get married
I want no associations at all. Totally unfair.
