    Destination wedding, Bali or Fiji?

We are 99% sure that a simple destination wedding is for us and are tossing up between Bali & Fiji. Has anyone been married o/seas or in either of these places? If so tips would be appreciated!!

I am in the process of palnning a destination wedding in Thailand! very excited! i looked into Fiji and wasnt really taken by it. My hairdresser is getting married there in October and am looking forward to hearing all about it.

Have you been to those places before? how many people are you planning on inviting and when are you planning on having it?

I got married in Fiji and loved it. We took some of our family over with us and had a blast, so much so that they now head over by themselves for their own holidays. Fiji is a beautiful destination and there are so many gorgeous islands to choose from. We chose Sonaisali Island and as perfect as it was, I think it was a little bit out of the way of Nadi. Perhaps Denarau Island, there are many resorts there and its close to Nadi and the port where you can take trips from.
Good luck with your decision and congrats on the wedding.
PM if you would like any Fiji tips...

If you choose Fiji, stay away from the mainland Nadi. It has none of the beauty or appeal that you think about when you think Fiji. The islands are meant to be beautiful though.

I had a destination wedding in the Greek Islands!!

It was the most intimate and meaningful ceremony - it was everything we could have hoped for.

We had 30 family and friends attend and we had an absolute BLAST! We were overseas for 4 weeks and every day was so enjoyable because we had the people we loved there.

The best thing we ever did was hire a wedding planner who was based in the islands and she organised absolutely EVERYTHING - right down to our hotel, tours, transport etc. She was a god send. I highly recommend hiring somebody to take care of all of the arrangements for you - that way when you get there all you have to do is relax and enjoy being spoilt!

Thanks girls for your input! It will probably be mid next year if all goes to plan.

Amysarah your wedding sounds like an absolute dream! The Greek Islands would be a perfect location, unfortunately a bit too expensive for us lol.

Kate, I have been looking at Sonaisali Island, how beautiful is it! Thanks for the tips re Denarau Island though.

YDI - Good luck for your Thailand wedding. I've also considered Thailand too. We just like the idea of a destination wedding as its more relaxed and we dont want the big white over the top wedding with all your long lost aunts iykwim.
