We are hoping to have our DS's Baptism in April (still to be arranged of course) but we have written the guest list and it is around 65 people (ridiculous i know) but we are not able to cut any of these people as they are family and very close friends. Anyway our house would no way suit that amoutn of people i was wondering is it tacky to get eveyone to go to a resturant and purchase their own meals or do we squash everyone into our home and cater with finger food? Need some opinions please.
With my DD I catered at home but I only had 30 people as i was on my own and only had my friends and famiy to worry about....
What about a picnic in the park? Or on the beach or somewhere? I'm sure you could find somewhere under cover if you had to, or have a plan b if you live somewhere with dodgy weather.
You could ask close family to help you out with the catering - ask siblings to bring a salad each, get your mum to do a dessert, best friend to sort out some bread etc. That spreads it out a bit.
Being in Canberra I dont think you can trust the weather in April
Zander is also being baptised in April but in Ballarat where all of our family is - we are going to the cafe/restaurant across the road and will buy some drinks for ppl, but they buy their own lunch. We travel all the way to make it easier for them after all.
I think that is fine - maybe a club like Hellenic where there is a kids play area too if you have children coming etc ...
oh and if you have that many coming they might be able to give you a function room if not booked for small fee ..... that way your family/friends are all still together ??
