    How much...

...did you pay for your wedding dress?
I have just picked mine out, and upon looking at the price tag I had a little bit of a moment and now I'm head spinning into a guilt trip (as mum and dad said they'd buy my dress, well actually they demanded that they buy my dress!). Although, mum thinks it's an absolute score. It's hitting the 2,000 mark
I was curious to see what the average is!

I paid about 1000$ for an Alfred Angelo Brand. (Which was cheap Im told.)

What sort of dress is it? Like train length etc. I must admit, all the ones I saw around that price range were absolutely gorgeous.

    I didn't actually have one.

I got married in things I already owned - a black pinstriped skirt, a black 3/4 sleeve top with a nice plunging neckline, no necklace (I have implant piercings on my chest), my usual earings, my hair in little pigtail buns at the back of my head, my big 5.5 inch heel boots (a bit gothy) and a posy of flowers bought on the day.

Wore very little makeup which I did myself and basically spent the whole day eating chocolate, dying my hair, having a nice long shower and washing the dog (she came too). :-)

So weddings don't have to be stressful or expensive.

Take a look on Ebay for some wedding dress sellers from HK, China or Thailand. They can usually get the design pretty close to the original you wanted and even with postage it turns out cheaper. We got hubby's wedding shirt and wuit made like this. And they can be made to your custom measurements.

I had an off-the-shelf dress for $185. It is just a white strapless dress, not necessarily a bridal gown, no train. Fit my theme of simple and elegant though.

Look for off the rack dresses, I bought mine, a couture gown that was originally $2,500 & I got it for $1000. I love my dress, its divine and I think it was definately money well spent.

Kamarine, I can't remember the name of it, sorry, I'll have to find out.. but it's American. Has quite a long train (that can hook back up) and lots of really detailed ebroidery work with silvery stitching and pearl(not real ones obviously)/crystal stitched in as well. And it's as strong as an ox, which I love. She strapped me into it and there was no way that dress was going anywhere!

BeautifulMadness, We're TTC in June so I may be pg too! But the dress laces up, and allows for a bit of give so I think I'll be ok... I only start to show around 4.5 months (my uterus tilts backwards so I don't pop forever which sucks!) so hopefully i'll get away with it. I think you look gorgeous in your photos to!! What are you on about!? You have that GLOW.

alioops, yep I was going for simple to... then I saw this bloody dress!

I think I've fallen to far in love with it now, and I don't think mum's going to let me weavle out and get something else cheaper. It's good to hear that those are round about prices though because I didn't fancy myself having a "hollywood" wedding!

    It sounds gorgeous though.
Did you end up getting it or decide to find something else?

We spent more money on my dress than anything else in our wedding lol. But when I saw the dress I knew it was the one I wanted. So corny, but true.
