How much does it cost for a marrige celebrant?

I am currently looking for a marriage celebrant. They all offer such different 'packages', we want something basic. I do not have any idea where to start. We will be having a garden wedding. Any ideas on how much a celebrant should cost, for a ceremony only, no books, music etc.

    Thankyou for any assistance.

    Deanne.

Ours was about $300 and that included a rehearsal. We just had a very simple wedding like what you want, no books, no music. Hope you can find a cheapie

Ours was $350, beach wedding, our vows, table, with rehearsal as well. She came to our house 4 times as well. Excellent.
BUT HOWEVER I was quoted over $750 for some that I called, others wouldn't even fit me in (and it was 1 year away!)

ours was about $250. we went to his house, and if we'd been getting married further than 15km from his house would have had to pay more.
No rehearsals, but then we didnt want one.

We have decided to have a simple small wedding with just immediate family. 12 guests and 4 kids (inc Matilda). In a lovely garden under a gazebo on a lake. Wedding dress, flowers for me. Rings of course. Our own song for walking down the aisle on a little CD player. The photos are also part of the venue price.

Thats about all I think! So that is why I want something simple.

Ours was $260. He rocked up to our venue, did the "celebranting" and the left. We also had a few opportunities to meeet up with him and talk about our ceremony. He provided us with a booklet full of vows and readings so we could pick and choose the ones we liked. We got married in NSW, and it was just over 3 years ago.

We got married by a Salvation Army Minister. We gave him $300 in an envelope on the day. Later he freaked out and drove back to the wedding to give us $200 back! He thought it was way too much. We convinced him to keep the money and give it to one of the charities they support. We were worried that $300 might not be enough! We met with him twice to discuss the wedding, as well as a rehearsal and the actual day.
