    Red dress to summer wedding?

Would you wear a red dress to a summer wedding? i am thinking it might be too loud but unless i find something in the january sales i don't think i can afford to shell out for a new dress. The wedding is on a sunday arvo, and reception is sunday night.

Um D i dunno... red is pretty attention catching, i guess i don't want to stand out?

Ok hmmm i think maybe i'm nervous because it will be the first social thing i've been to in about a year and a half!

Dont be nervous! it will be great to get out. Hopefully the weather is gorgeous too. A pic would help but no I don't think you will stand out. Many new dresses these days have big bold patterns with bright colours. You may even look boring compared to them xxx

I love red and think red dresses are so elegant..

Just make sure that red isn't the colour of the bridesmaids. We had red (and all the trimming on our invites was red, so thought it was a dead giveaway ), but my cousin also wore a red dress and was so self concious on the day and hid the beautiful dress behind her DH's black suit jacket.

Our's was a spring wedding, but against all the summer flowers, skies, I think red looks great.

Wear it! I wore a red dress to a wedding last weekend, and I had the same concerns. But it was fine- everyone was dressed to the nines, so it just fit in.

Unless it is the same colour as the invites, wear it. Brides wear red in China because it is meant to be good luck. If the couple are Chinese make sure the bride won't be wearing red. I think red is a great colour to wear to weddings!!

I reckon it's fine too. If you feel uncomfortable maybe wear a light weight shawl or a light jacket over it.

Honey, if I was going shopping for a new dress to wear to a summer wedding, I'd be LOOKING for red ones anyway

I've worn a red dress to 3 weddings that I can recall in the last few years (not the same ones ) - I love them, they are so classic & elegant.

    Perfect for a Sunday afternoon/evening.

The only time I wouldn't wear one is if the bridesmaids were red.. otherwise its my colour of choice

    Go for it

Thanks for the vote of confidence!

Pics are a bit vague but let me know if you think its okay to wear to the wedding and then to the reception? (do people usually wear the one outfit?)

Absolutely go for it, you're going to look stunning! And don't feel at all shy about it, you really will look lovely

I am biased, because I wore red to my own wedding but I think it's doable on most occasions.
