At the moment I am currently planning my wedding that is to be held sometime in December this year. We were thinking either on the 15th or 22nd of December.
We are, well, I am! just at the beginning of the planning and thinking about where to have the ceremony and reception. We arent keen on a church wedding. DF and I both love the water and love the beach so my first thought was to have it at Burns Beach on the park there and then have the reception at some restaurant. My mum then suggested to have it at Joondalup Resort because the ceremony and reception can be help at the same place. I have just enquired at Joondalup Resort but have not got any other ideas!!
We are inviting around 50-60 guests.
So Perthies, are you able to tell me where you had your wedding or suggest some nice places for us to look in to??!!
Oh and we are NOR about 40 mins from Perth, so would preferrably want to have it somewhere NOR.
DH and I got married in a church but had our reception on the Paddlesteamer Decoy. It was such an unusual venue, we cruised the swan river for 4 hours, had music, fabulous food and it sat 40 people very comfortably (they can take up to 100) People still talk about our wedding even now!
We got married at Mulberry on Swan, in the swan valley. We had an outdoor ceremony on a grassed area down by the river there, and then our reception in a function room there too. I found having both at the same place great.
I think a beach wedding would be lovely too.

Thanks for all the ideas everyone!! I will definitely look in to the places mentioned. Joondalup resort just called and said they dont have availability on the 15th but do on the 22nd. Do you think that is too close to christmas??

I would try and stick with the 15th. A friend of mine had someone they know get married last Christmas i think the 23rd and only a few people that they invited went as it was so close to Christmas and everyone was so busy.
But it's your wedding and it's up to you guys.
The 22nd is close to xmas but if you are only having 50-60 people they will be your closest family and friends and I am sure they will be there not matter when or where it is.
22nd would be fine.....everyone is twiddling their thumps the last days till Christmas or wasting money shopping....why not enjoy a beautiful wedding??
Plus like Daniellec said...if they are your close 50-60 friends and famil they would even be there on the 25th!!
I am not sure if you like different things (like me!), but I got married by the lake at Yanchep National Park and had the reception in the Crystal Cave, the setting was fantastic, really unusual and people still comment on that! The cave is also a constant 17° so if it is a scorching day (it was 39 when I got married), the cave is just lovely. There are also some marvelous photo opportunities in the National Park!
Lisa, that sounds absolutely wonderful!! I would have never thought of that hey. I just mentioned it to DF and he said that he thought about it today. So I am definitely going to look in to that. Thanks!!

DF and I are getting married in a beach ceremony outside his parents place in front of the water! The reception is a quick 2min walk across a park to a restaurant/tavern that we have booked out for 60 guests and us. I think if you can have the reception very close by it does make it easier...
We just got council approval for the land (as it's council property - park) for the ceremony and it's free! We didnt' want to get married in a church or hall or somewhere where they would "charge" us to marry!
I'm not in Perth sorry i'm on the other side but good luck planning your wedding...it's alot of fun once you work out the particulars of it!

Lisa - does the Crystal Cave have a website?? Do they normally cater for weddings or was it something that you suggested?? I might need to take DF up there this weekend and have a look in to it
The Cabaret cave is specifically for functions and weddings, mine was 5 and a half years ago and the second one to be held in the cave, it has come along way since then. If you PM me, I will send you a link the the hire page etc..
Like I said it was absolutely fantastic and I love looking back on my photos as it is something different. You can also get accommodation at the Yanchep Inn for the night and you can get amazing photos there too.
I found the website yesterday on it all and its looks wonderful. A little bit more expensive than Joondalup Resort but it is something totally different and something we will really remember. Thank you so much for the idea!! We are planning to go and check it out this weekend and probably book it too
I got married at the UWA sunken gardens followed by a reception at the Royal Perth Yacht club in crawley. I wanted my venues close together, we had family from the UK and Victoria.
My brother got married in the Bell Tower at Barrack st, followed by a reception at Frasers in Kings park.
My sister is getting married and having her reception at Caversham house.
I looked at the caves at Yanchep, but my SIL knows someone who got married there and my SIL did not think much of the place and food.
Harold Boas Garden near Scitech in the city is amazing, just contact Perth City Council... theres many areas which u can get married, and its central too.
