When dp and I first started dating, he bought me a beautiful candle at christmas... It was purple with an orca whale picture on it's.. My favourite colour is blue and I prefer dolphins... I think it was a last minutes name tag swap as his sister likes purple and whales but dp insists he picked it especially for me

A parent once gave me a visitor's book as a personal gift, not for work.
One year for christmas, my uncle gave me and my sisters a pair of granny undies :o Luckily I'd arrived late so was quickly pulled away from everyone to open that one. I was so confused I didn't know how to react. Still not sure if he thought he was being funny or if he thought he was being nice given I was about 22 and it was the first christmas we got anything from him. My Nan was pretty pleased though when we said we were happy to give them to her cause she needed new undies
My fave 'weird' gift was one from my Dad. One christmas he bought me slot cars. It was my first christmas so I was 2 weeks old! He insists it was so we could bond as I watched him play with my present
 at these. Seriously what were these people thinking!!!!
My step brother and his wife gave me a candle in the shape of a man and woman getting it on :o wtf?
Condoms as a wedding present......
Straws. I was given a packet of straws for my birthday.
FIL got a bucket and sponge from DF's uncle once.
Another time (from the same person) another family member received a bucket. The same Christmas, another family received a window cleaner squeegie thing. We're pretty sure it was originally a set.
BIL & SIL gave us a dodgy adult toy set for a wedding present........they didn't even bother to wrap it just put it in a too small gift bag on the table, so easily seen by everyone.
DH's grandmother gave me a 4 pack of peach Sorbent toilet paper for Christmas one year and an oven mit in the shape of a crocodile another year. She is the queen of bad presents.
Toilet paper! Wow, dare I say, maybe you gave her the poos lol!
These are getting funnier....can anyone beat toilet paper as weirdest present.....
 at the toilet paper!!!!!
 at the dunny paper :)
She's not the nicest lady in the world.
At least it was good quality toilet paper
What about my MIL giving my DF and me a "conference" set - a little set with a little table, a giraffe on a chair, an elephant on a chair and some other animals... It's not even pretty?! What am I supposed to do with a conference set? Does it have any purpose?
I'll see the lavatory paper and raise by a 5kg tub of chicken poo. (Gift to DH from a family member.)
Last Monday was Eid. MIL gave me 3 tea towels :o
Oh the tea towels reminded me, my mother gave me a tea towel with picture of a pizza on it that says "Pizza Time!" and a bag bag with animal pictures all over it for my birthday last year. They're both really quite ugly. :/
I know people that have those at their homes!! Not my thing, but hey - different strokes and all that. ;)
Oh Nai - those candles where the cat's pyjamas back in the late 90s! I remember so many birthday parties where someone was given one of those when the parentals weren't watching ... :D
My PIL vary - one year they'll give me a beautiful toasty warm throwrug, the next year I get a lace top (nothing underneath, and I own nothing even remotely that colour) ... and then the following year - nothing! DH reminded them a half dozen times in the lead up to my 30th ... they totally forgot (the whole event - not even just to give me a gift!) and then FIL called me the next day to discuss the festivities for MIL's 60th, which wasn't for another 4 months ... gah! Then when DH got cranky at them, *I* got an email going on about how much they've done for us over the last 10 years, and how if I want to jeopardise the relationship over something as superficial as stuff, then that was sad ... WTF??
