What about my MIL giving my DF and me a "conference" set - a little set with a little table, a giraffe on a chair, an elephant on a chair and some other animals... It's not even pretty?! What am I supposed to do with a conference set? Does it have any purpose?

Oh the tea towels reminded me, my mother gave me a tea towel with picture of a pizza on it that says "Pizza Time!" and a bag bag with animal pictures all over it for my birthday last year. They're both really quite ugly. :/

A parent once gave me a visitor's book as a personal gift, not for work.
I know people that have those at their homes!! Not my thing, but hey - different strokes and all that.

My step brother and his wife gave me a candle in the shape of a man and woman getting it on wtf?
Oh Nai - those candles where the cat's pyjamas back in the late 90s! I remember so many birthday parties where someone was given one of those when the parentals weren't watching ...

My PIL vary - one year they'll give me a beautiful toasty warm throwrug, the next year I get a lace top (nothing underneath, and I own nothing even remotely that colour) ... and then the following year - nothing! DH reminded them a half dozen times in the lead up to my 30th ... they totally forgot (the whole event - not even just to give me a gift!) and then FIL called me the next day to discuss the festivities for MIL's 60th, which wasn't for another 4 months ... gah! Then when DH got cranky at them, *I* got an email going on about how much they've done for us over the last 10 years, and how if I want to jeopardise the relationship over something as superficial as stuff, then that was sad ... WTF??
