    Exclamation when to send invites?

Ok so a little background info..i am getting married in Oct this year (so not too long )

However i was wondering when i should send out the invites? how long before the wedding? i have heard sooo many different things that I just dont know when to do it! most people will be travelling a minimum of 2 hrs plus the others who are flying from QLD or USA!

So any advice would be greatly appreciated

I think the date I've heard is about 6 weeks before? If people will be travelling a long way and need time to save, perhaps you could send out a sort of pre-invite, to say 'set this date aside if you can', and let them know an invite will be in the mail down the track?

Wedding invitations are usually sent out 8 weeks before the wedding, with an RSVP 3 weeks before the wedding.

We got married 20th of may 2006 and sent out invites 25 of feb 2006.

Overseas guests knew date well in advance eg as soon as venue booked which was 14 months pre wedding.

    Good luck and enjoy.

if you're worried about people needing to save/book travel, send out "save the date" cards now - that way they'll have, as nelle said, pre-invite warning of the date

Definitely send out "save the date" cards or even an email will do to allow overseas and interstate guests to plan for travel.

The norm for sending out invites is 6-8 weeks before the big day. We're getting married mid-August and I sent the invites out last week.

For all recent weddings (including ours) we got/sent a save the date email well in advance (months and months)...invites 8 weeks before - 8 weeks alone would not have been long enough for our O/S guests to save / plan / book .

Our wedding was in April - a busy wedding month so we wanted to make sure people knew when ours was. We have friends getting married in Sept and recieved the invite about a month ago and an email in January. Being UTD it was good to know what was coming up.
