Year 12 formal 1996. What a fun night!!

I went with a male friend of mine who is gay, we're still FB friends although we don't chat much anymore.
I'm still friends with a lot of the people who were on my table, in fact one of them is coming over this weekend with his wife (who was my bridesmaid) and daughter.
I wore a grey/blue dress with a lace bodice and gold accessories. (Well- it WAS the 90's!!!)
I had a great night and remember a lot, especially dancing for HOURS!!!!
The afterparty- we had two, some of my friends were leaving to go on a ski trip the next day so they had a quiet few drinks after and then I went to the "official" after party which was mad and went until about 4am. Had a great time!!!

I'm watching Dawson's Creek, and there's a prom about to happen ... it's got me thinking and all nostalgic ...

so *your* senior dance: tell me about it!

who was your date? why? who are they to you now?

who was on your table? are you still friends with any of them?

    what did you wear?

how much do you remember about it?

    and the afterparty?

    share! share!

    ahh my formal....
my best friend was my date, it was a massive thing and i had to convince the head of senior school that we were in fact just friends cos they didnt want a same sex couple there!!! (conservative religious school)
i had a car accident the day before but i didnt want to miss seeing everyone all snazzy so i still got all dressed up and my hair done in between puking with massive concussion... went to predrinks, limo ride, and the greetings etc in the foyer of the venue then went home! i wore a green dress with a gold tinge, halter sweetheart neckline with fishtail, gold strapppy heals that i still wear when i need. no idea who was meant to be on my table or anything but i still talk to most of the people i went to school with, got our 5yr reunion on soon. ahhhh school, we had no idea how easy we had it!!!

oh i forgot to add that i went as a date to a friends formal (different school) and wore a black mini dress with with black lace over the top, i think the tope was maybe silver with black lace? just black peeptoes. it was the same dress and shoes as two of my friends had worn to their boyfriends formals, we even ended up with nearly the same hair!! those of you on fb will find a photo of the comparison of us all wearing the dress!! that was a blast, lots of dancing and fun and one girl came in what looked like a fairy skirt and the top of her dress was painted on so all she was wearing was nipple flowers! geez if i had had that body i may of considered it too but fare out was their principal unimpressed!!!!!!! afterparty was a hoot, got smashed and hooked up with some guy who i lated dated for a minute. his date was pretty unimpressed!

I didn't get a formal, but I did do my deb.

It was Titanic themed. My partner was a childhood friend. My boyfriend of a whole month & I split up & I'd only just started a new school, so didn't have much of an option. The friend I'd actually known since the very early days of my life & he moved 4 hours away from home, in with his dad to help me out. We don't talk anymore though. Well if we saw each other in the street it'd be like old times, but his life went a very different direction to mine...

Had I known ex a little better he would've probably been my partner, but I didn't know him well enough to ask yet & he didn't say anything til after

At my table it was mostly my family, his family & the other friend we grew up with, my bestie

I spent most of the night out the front flirting with my crush I was hardly inside at all.

After party was at my house. Noone else had planned anything, so my dad offered. It was all good til one of the older boys started a fight with my crush (also a little older) & it all ended. Him mooning the taxi with the older guy in it probably wasn't the best idea...

Going with the titanic theme I was the only one who wore an older fashioned dress... no a line strapless for me High neck & puffy sleeves! Everyone told me they loved it...
