Trini, thank you so much for asking!!! *mwah* I love to think about our wedding day, it was the happiest day of my life (until DS was born, and then DD, so now it's the third happiest day of my life) and it's still the best wedding I've ever been to.

In 2003 we got married at West Head lookout in Ku-ring-gai Chase National Park and had the reception at Cottage Point Inn, a restaurant on the water at Cottage Point.

I LOVE:
That we did so much ourselves (no professional photographer for example).

It was all about family, friends, food, wine and celebration.

I didn't wear white (I was in silver) and the bridesmaids and groomsmen didn't match.

My grandmother gave me my great-grandmother's wedding ring to use as my wedding ring (I got both dates inscribed on the inside).

The weather was perfect.

My mum hand-painted flannel flowers on every invitation (they were amazing).

Mum's a florist and she did the flowers, all natives with feathers and pearls and bits of driftwood.

DH had never made a cake before but decided he would make a three tier traditional fruitcake and ice it himself. And he did a great job too!

DH drove me, just the two of us, from the ceremony to the reception in our veteran car, a 1913 Wolsely.

Afterwards we went to a pub in Manly in our wedding gear with all our mates and got a kebab in the corso on the way back to our hotel.

I'll go and dig up some pics. BBL...

What was your fave thing of the day? Just the whole day, but the best was when we were just pronounced husband and wife, we walked down the "isle" together and we had these little bubble thingies instead of confetti and we and our guests were surrounded by bubbles ... it was magical

What would you have changed if anything? I would have tried to talk to more ppl I was so caught up in the day that I did not do ANY table rounds to chat with my guests

Where did you get married? church? garden? registry office? eloped? We got married on a veranda at the beach under the misty sky. It was AWSOME!!!

Did you have a wishing well or gift registry? or presents? Oh, we asked for money .. I know abnoxtious (sp) but we had everthing except a stove and a washing machine and we could not afford it, so we asked for money and bought those two big items.

How many bridesmaids did you have? what dresses did they wear? I had two bridesmaids. They wore different dresses. My MOH wore a full-length low-back plain strappy yellow-gold satin dress and my sister wore a off-shoulder yellow dress that came to her knees that she made herself.

What were your table centre pieces? Rectagular glass fases with flowers (roses) and candles in them .. actually I can't remember exactly, because I just told the lady that did the flowers it had to look wonderfull and left it in her capable hands.

Did you have a bonbonierrie? if so what was it? I orderd mini carrot wedding cupcakes. They doubled as placenames and as bonbonierrie.

What did you invites look like? did you make them or get them made? I got mine made. It was a single sheet (A4 folded in 3 - that size) whitepearl card with a raised picture of a rose on top and written in silver swirly font, coverd in a sheer sheet of paper It was very simple, but turned out OH SO beautiful

Did you have a real or fake boquet? what flowers were they? Real roses, just roses and some green leaves around them and fake diamante buttons in between. I had a smaller version made that I can throw, so I don't mess up me own boquet.

Anything else:
We did not do the traditional bride's table. We sat with our friends and our parents with theirs.

I don't have any pic here, but I'll go and dig some out and upload them later

What was your fave thing of the day? I loved everything about the day. But my favourite part was when we were allowed to drive the wedding car back to the reception ourselves. We had the best time, it was lovely.

What would you have changed if anything? I would have had no bridesmaids like I originally wanted....Don't get me started!

Where did you get married? church? garden? registry office? eloped? In the park my Dad is the Ranger at, I also lived there when I was younger. We were marreid by a Minister who is a family friend.

Did you have a wishing well or gift registry? or presents? No wishing well due to religious relos but we requested money as a gift which we put towards a new washing machine.

How many bridesmaids did you have? what dresses did they wear? I had 3 Bridesmaids, they wore navy blue. 2 wore a pant suit kind of thing and the 3rd wore a dress I got off ebay for $23...long story.

What were your table centre pieces? We had a ****tail style reception with a chocolate fountain in the middle of the table.

Did you have a bonbonierrie? if so what was it? I didn't hae any

What did you invites look like? did you make them or get them made? I made my invites. THey were blue and silver.

Did you have a real or fake boquet? what flowers were they? Real flowers. I hat Tulips and Liliums (spelling?). THe BM's had tulips, I made the bouquets on the morning of the wedding.

Anything else you would like to add feel free or even add photos

I have some photos on my Facebook, I'm not really sure how to put them on here or how to make them so the world can't see them. So if anyone wants to see any just pm me and I'll send the link.

What was your fave thing of the day? The very end, when we got to go back to our B&B as husband & wife & relax!!

What would you have changed if anything? Would have checked some details more carefully, had a prob with makeup & the zip broke on my dress had to get a dress maker to replace it & I was therefore very late for the church.

Where did you get married? church? garden? registry office? eloped? Married in a small Chruch in the Barossa Valley SA....just beautiful.

Did you have a wishing well or gift registry? or presents? Had a wishing well, got an amazing amount of money & were able to buy our bed & mattress that we will keep for years.

How many bridesmaids did you have? what dresses did they wear? 3 bridesmaids, they wore long dresses a 2piece....the skirt was black & the strapless top was black, white & silver stripes.

What were your table centre pieces? Hurrican vases with a big white canlde in them & dried red rose petals (same colour as mine) on the bottom.

Did you have a bonbonierrie? if so what was it? Yes, a big red love heart shaped lollipop...they made great deco's & were like 20cents each to buy!

What did you invites look like? did you make them or get them made? I had mine made, they were so simple & elegant that by the time I bought the paper, ink etc it was as cheap to have them made. Just whit square cut card, nice shiny stuff with info printed on it. Our names were in really fancy font & each main letter (eg first name) had a diamente in it (if that makes any sense).

Did you have a real or fake boquet? what flowers were they? Real flowers, mine were red & the bridesmaids had white.....it was exp but I now have mine framed & hanging in my bedroom.

Anything else you would like to add feel free or even add photos

What was your fave thing of the day? Hearing my husband say how much he loved me in front of so many people.

What would you have changed if anything? Tightened my lace up dress before the waltz so I didn't feel like I was going to stand on it.

Where did you get married? We got married in Cairns; both DH and I grew up there. The ceremony was in a church, my DH's grandfather married us. The reception was in the ballroom at the Shangri-la hotel on the esplanade.

Did you have a wishing well or gift registry? or presents? Gift registry

How many bridesmaids did you have? what dresses did they wear? 2 bridesmaids, my little sister and my best friend since highschool. They wore sage green, long, strapless dresses.

What were your table centre pieces? Native flower arrangements.

Did you have a bonbonierrie? if so what was it? yes, I made little fold up boxes printed with leucodendrons (flowers) and the guests names (doubled as place cards) and filled them with hand made truffles that a chef friend of mine made for us.

What did you invites look like? did you make them or get them made? Invites were long and thin. They were green like the bridesmaids dresses and had a leucodendron on them. The writing was on a transparent cover that was pinned over the top. I made them too.

Did you have a real or fake boquet? what flowers were they? Real flowers, natives. Mostly proteas and leucodendrons. My boquet was in creamy colours and the bridesmaids were in pinky red shades.

What a nice thread, good idea!!

Fave thing of the day - I loved my wedding day as we had complete control & as a result it was exactly what we wanted. DH & I are not fussy people so I love that our wedding was a reflection of who we are. It was small (about 35 guests) but felt very intimate & those who were there were important to us. I loved that DH was trying very hard not to cry & no one else could see that. I loved when DH kissed me before he was supposed to!! I loved leaving on the boat for our honeymoon to Tasmania afterwards - such an exciting feeling!!

What would I change - I wouldn't have used a photography student & spent the extra money on a professional. She took nice photos but lacked the experience. As a result I don't look relaxed & I feel a pro would've made sure I looked my best.

Where did I get married - A restaurant on the Geelong waterfront. We hired out the top floor. This meant it was very private & we had our own chef & staff for the day. It's hard to explain but where we 'got married' is a raised fenced part of the top floor, making it separate from the reception area. We were there first & everyone formed a circle around us. We had a candle ceremony so we were surrounded by candlelight. I also love that the co ordinator at this restaurant remembers us & gives us free drinks whenever we go there!!

Presents - After having lived together we didn't want any presents. We did need a new washing machine so asked for gift cards at a particular store, the generosity astounded us & we had much more than we needed. Some people were traditional & gave gifts instead though. Which I'm sorry to say we have never used!!

Bridesmaids - Nope, no bridal party at all!! We wanted it to be kept very simple. I don't like being the centre of attention either so walking down an aisle would've been my idea of hell!!

Table centrepieces - Didn't have a centrepiece but did have lots of candles everywhere - very romantic. From memory I think the restaurant had fake flowers on the tables too but I obviously didn't take much notice!!

Bonbonierrie - We didn't give one out on the day, we felt that as we paid for the whole thing (including the alcohol) it wasn't necessary. However we did a whole group photo at the reception which we sent out to everyone with the thank you cards. Everyone loved it & we also included any photos that the photographer took of them. The ones with kids especially loved these.

Invitations - I'm not crafty at all so I got ours done online. They were silver, that's all I can remember!!

Bouquet - I didn't have one. My thing is bags so I had a gorgeous little bag that I hung over my wrist for the day - got lots of comments. Plus I got to keep it!!

What about the dress? I LOVE pink so I wore a pink dress on my wedding day. I bought it at Myer. It's 3 layered - a slip & a latte coloured gauzy layer that hangs a couple of cms down from the dusty pink lace top layer. It has cap sleeves & a pink bow that goes around my waist. It really is beautiful AND I have worn it since!!

It's nice reading about everyone's special day. This has also made me remember my wedding day & all the things that made it special for us. Thanks!!
