Hi fellow ebayers, I was wondering what types of payment methods other ebayers are accepting. I mainly sell to older people - over 50's and a couple of months ago I received alot of complaints about which payment methods I was accepting. At the time it was only bank deposit or money order. Under major reluctance I agreed to offer Paypal as alot of people had requested it and claimed that they don't have internet banking, couldn't get to the post office for money order and couldn't access my bank as branch deposits aren't available in all areas and they wanted to pay with a credit card. I don't even have the first clue about accepting credit cards so I thought my only way out to get my sales back up again was to go through paypal. Everything was great to start with but I am selling at a very low profit margin through Ebay and now with the paypal fees, I am barely breaking even this month. Is anyone else having the same problems? i have tried adding auction conditions to my listings clearly outlining the payment conditions but still have the same problems when the auction is finished. Alot of people also want to send personal cheques which I don't accept, for 2 reasons 1 they may bounce and 2 it costs me 60cents to bank them each time. I'm not sure what else to do. It seems many people older than 50 are very wary of internet banking and don't have any intention of using it, but it's sending me broke. I'd love to hear if anyone else has found a way around this and I apologise if anyone takes offence to this post as I know that Ebay is a very competitive market and sellers don't appreciate being asked for their secrets.
