I need to write an article.

It's an important article, and I picked the subject and got it approved by the editor about a month ago.

I have sort of started it. Kind of.

I have done all the printing, and checked no one else has written an article about it yet. And I have sort of written an introduction and a conclusion, but there are some bits to fill in.

The article is due tomorrow. No flexibility, due to publication dates.

I have stayed at home to write the article, instead of attending church and lunch (which is sad, I like my usual Sunday of church and family and extended family lunch shenanigans) but as I spent almost all of yesterday asleep, needs must.

But now there are so many things preventing me - genuinely preventing me - from being able to write this article. It's like the universe is set against me, saying,"No Peanutter! You cannot write that article! You. Shall. Not. Pass."

Genuine, important, valid, and oh so understandable things which have prevented me over the past 89 minutes include (but are not limited to):

  1. putting on a load of washing
  2. hanging up a load of washing
  3. unstacking the dishwasher
  4. restacking the dishwasher
  5. washing some pots and pans
  6. washing the highchair tray
  7. putting some books on the bookshelf
  8. cleaning a space on the table
  9. going to the toilet
  10. going to the toilet again
  11. making coffee
  12. making tea, because my coffee was too hot
  13. hanging up some nappies
  14. tidying the change table
  15. putting some junk mail in the recycle bin
  16. deciding what I will wear
  17. changing my mind and deciding pyjamas are just fine today
  18. changing my mind again because my sleeve is a bit wet from doing the dishes
  19. changing my mind yet again, because stuff it, I'm staying home today and pyjamas wet or otherwise are just dandy
  20. picking up some toys
  21. putting away some dry clothes from the airer
  22. gazing out the window and wondering if I remember how to mow the lawn
  23. putting on a load of dishes
  24. putting away some dry tubs
  25. locating DS1's giraffe
  26. deciding whether to leave the giraffe where it is, or put it back in DS1's room
  27. contemplating going back to bed, to be refreshed and ready to write
  28. boiling the jug again, because the tea is now cold
  29. trying unsuccessfully three times to decide what to eat for breakfast
  30. locating and eating left over dDoriots and M'n'Ms because let's face it, this morning is already ruined
  31. drinking the tea cold, and making hotter coffee
  32. putting away random ingredients which have mysteriously accumulated on the kitchen bench
  33. wiping down the kitchen bench about 5 times
  34. wondering if the truck on the other side of the road is full of robbers casing my joint
  35. wondering whether my procrastination will be eked out sufficiently long for the load of washing to be ready for hanging up
  36. going to the toilet again
  37. clearing away the breakfast dishes from the DSs
  38. locating and putting on a jumper
  39. surfing through facebook
  40. surfing through BB threads
  41. refreshing BB approximately 16 times in the hope that something new and interesting has popped up
  42. debating whether to start my own thread
  43. starting my own thread
  44. realising my coffee s perfect temperature and should be enjoyed immediately
  45. becoming too hot from the coffee, and removing jumper, only to realise that without it I am too cold
