A Belly Belly Story...

Hello lovelies! Saw this thread and thought we could start our own continuing story where anyone and everyone can contribute (as much or as little as they like). No expectations, no specified writing styles etc - just if you have something you'd like to add - go for it! Let's see what we can come up with!

She stood alone atop the cliffs edge, staring into the distance. The sunset was magical – as they always liked. The sky a picture of pastel pink, orange and yellow; silver lines encasing the clouds. The wind blew a gentle breeze allowing her skirt to softly lap at her legs, her hair swept gently with the breeze. She closed her eyes allowing her to be lost in the sunset, and inhaled deeply. Memories of years past flittered through her mind.

Memories of the dreams she had, dreams she was sure were to become her reality, and suddenly she felt a tiny kick form inside her womb, instant snap back to reality once again.She brushed her skirt off her legs and placed one hand over her growing belly , gently rubbing in a round motion as her unborn baby relaxed and settled back to sleep.

She turned and walked back down the overgrown path. The breeze on her back. She had to pick her way carefully as she felt increasingly unsteady these days with her growing belly. If she fell and turned her ankle there would be nobody to help. The sky was turning a deeper shade of purple and a bat flew overhead in the direction of the forest. Her memories were bittersweet and were bound to return again soon as she approached the old house...

The old house sat exactly as it had for 100 years, its windows like soulful eyes watching the world ebb and flow like the tides around it.
If its walls could talk she mused, what tales it would tell. She shivered, glad that her secret was safe within the solid walls.
She paused at the rose covered trellis which surrounded the verandah.................

and smiled to herself for where life had brought her to now. So many battles she had over come in such a short period of time, and yet, in the blink of an eye her wishes and dreams were beginning to be fufilled. She could now sit back and be proud of her achievements in making hundreds and thousands of women..............

....safer, more in control of their lives and their destinies. The concept of this long-awaited rest from the struggles of normal life unrolled before her like a long peaceful path. She lifted the latch and smiled at the familiar creaks and rattles of the old door as it opened for her and closed behind her.

It was cool inside. She thought of the thick stone walls surrounding her as the warm flesh walls of her own Self surrounded the baby inside her. She put her hand to her bump again, a home within a home, she thought. And, she said inside, directly to the baby, if you are a girl there is yet another home inside you by now. Russian dolls houses, concentric shelter stretching from 100 years past far into the future, with the potential of her potential daughter's womb and her daughter's wombs on and on.....

She smiled as a soft barage of kicks greeted her and a pink rose petal floated from the ostentatious murano glass vase onto the cool marble floor. A sign for sure she thought.
Her reverie was broken in that moment as the shrill of her mobile phone snapped her back to the present. A wave of nausea lapped around her solar plexus as she retrieved her gold motorola - after all she was a modern girl and loved her bling bling accessories - and sighed painfully before answering ... 'Yes David ..."

"I'm sorry to be calling you this way," David said without preamble. "But Mom's going fast. The last round of antibiotics just didn't fight off the infection the way the doctors hoped. Her temperature is rising, they can't bring it back down, and her breathing is labored. They said she could go at any minute. Please...we want you here."

Just as she was about to reply her 'phone lost signal. She looked at the screen to confirm reception status: nil! She rushed back outside to try to find a signal but to no avail. The breeze was picking up and she tried to recall the weather forecast. Possible storms.

It was growing cold so she returned to the house. Where was the caretaker? He was due here an hour ago!

She decided that the weather was getting too bad so instead of waiting for the caretaker to arrive she would leave, her mum needed her!
She left a note saying that she had been called back to the hospital and that she would be back at the house as soon as she possibly could, then rushed as fast as she could in her state, to her car that she had left outside.

As she hauled herself into the driver's seat her baby kicked again. Yes, little one, she thought, we have to go quickly now. We have to go now to see Grandma. Grandma.

She felt hot tears gather in her eyes as she navigated the winding drive to the main road. Oh why when she was becoming a mother did she have to lose hers. It wasn't fair that the line of mothers would be so soon broken.

Her mother was her security, her confidante and friend, how would she survive this journey she was about to undertake without her mother's guidance and help.
The blackness of life without her mum yawned like an abyss in her mind, almost too awful to fully comprehend. She shook her head as if to banish the thoughts from her head and started the engine.

She checked all the mirrors and lights (enough gasoline? Yes. Good.) And proceeded to make a turn around the circular drive.

But before she was even halfway to the road, a bump and a muffled "pop" made her wince. She tried to ignore it, but the steering became hard to handle, lopsided and precarious. Swearing softly, she cut the engine and climbed out of the car. The passenger side front tire was flat.

She swore a second time, kicked the offending tire and stomped around to the back of the car and wrenched open the trunk.

"Spare tire? Spare tire?" she muttered. Then she lifted the carpet at the bottom of the trunk. According to the owner's manual, the spare would be stored there.

Yes, it was there but she didn't have a clue what to do with the damn thing. Hauling it out she managed to wheel it around and rested it against the side of the car near the flat. Now, a jack? Where was the jack? And spanner? She rummaged around in the cavity where the spare was stored but there was nothing. She hated feeling so useless! What would she do if she had a crying baby in the car? What if she was in labour?! The enormity of the situation and potential future situations became too much for her. She sat on the road, leaning against the car and cried. Tears! that wasn't like her! Where was her strength and independence that she was so proud of? Why does she keep thinking and hoping that a man should be here to save her? Not since she was a child did she have a burning need to be protected. She felt so vulnerable and she resented that feeling. Her friends, childless friends, would be so ashamed of her if they knew how much she secretly desired to be "looked after" by a man. Then she heard another car approaching...
