800 words tonight, would have been more but df kept coming up and trying to read over my shoulder and I was getting PO'd... Not great writing, but need to get something down! I am aching to buy a laptop so I can work on the train, but df is being annoying about it and making me research all different options, run around all over the place etc. I know what I want, I know how much it costs and I earn enough to buy it, so I really don't see why I need to waste my time. Anyway, sorry for the whinge...

My laptop is going to work with me today, if it isn't raining this afternoon I'm stopping off at the gardens on the way home to write for an hour or so, if it is raining, it will be a coffee shop instead.

Otherwise life gets in the way and I start on other things when I get home and don't get to write.

Well, I'm behind by quite a lot but I'm still determined. I'm only 7000 words in so about 7000 words behind with next weekend a complete write-off as we are going interstate for a wedding.

Today I decided to change POV also, from first to third which seems to be helping. The words are flowing a lot easier and I'm finding it a lot simpler to describe more things, build and set scenes. I won't bother changing what I have done, I can go back and do that in December although I might put some things in and around it. We will see. I'm not writing in much order anyway.

How does anyone ever publish a story that has parts influenced by their own experiences without insulting people around them? This might have to be for my eyes only forever haha.

Woohoo!! I did it! I ordered my laptop and it's due to arrive on Thursday that's 2 hours of uninterrupted writing time added to each of my days!

Jellyfish, just hope that they won't recognize their worst faults, and if they do they will probably be too embarrassed to say anything!

hit a brick wall at the moment, because I'm writing so much at work (average 5000 words a day) I get home and my brain just doesn't want to play the game. Will have to refocus this week I'm at just under 10k words.

I'm doing okay, I don't think I'm going to make the 50k by the end of November but it has motivated me to start so that is something, not giving up just yet... I haven't written for about 5 days as we went away for a wedding and were so busy then I was just exhausted. Starting to feel very, very pregnant and uncomfortable so just got a cheapie wireless keyboard so I can lay down and type on my laptop without having to have the whole thing on my lap so that will help a bit... maybe, hopefully haha.

I love Scrivener, will definitely be getting it at the end of the month after the trial finishes!

I've written about 7000 in total. Not going to make the 50K but that's okay. Like you, JF, it's gotten me motivated to keep going.

I'm finding writing hard ... difficult to explain.

It hasn't been the same since DS's birth. I thought this year would be different, and I would have healed enough but maybe not

    peanutter.

Just a little woohoo because I finally broke 10k words and am starting to get back on track. I actually feel like I could make it now and the words are spilling out. I need about 2600 words a day to make it... I think I can I think I can I think I can...

I'm inspired to get back into my writing, but I really want to scrap and re-start, I won't, but will probably add the new book idea onto the end of the current one and at the end of the month split the two and continue with them both since they're both valid stories.

I am so close to cracking the 10k mark! Feel like the story and the characters are actually coming together! Still no idea how to structure what i am writing so it works best, but will worry about that later i guess.

    Yeah Jellyfish, that is awesome

Peanutter, if you're finding the internet a distraction, there's some award-winning productivity software you can get. One of them blocks all your internet access for a set number of hours of work, the other (for those of us who use the internet for research, etc while we're working) blocks all the main social media websites plus any others you add to the list. The first one is called Freedom and the second one is Anti-Social. It's pretty inexpensive and available for both macs and pcs. I came across it mentioned on the website of a New York Times bestselling writer and took that for an endorsement.

    ha - sadly, no.

I'm finding recurring thoughts about my birth injury and the subsequent crap and trauma distracting.

If there's an app I can download for that, please let me know

Maybe you need to just journal that stuff, just word dump, it doesn't have to make it into the "story" at all (and the words can count!)

Starting to claw my way back... over 16k words now! Hoping to reach close to 20k by the end of the day as DD is off with her Dad now for a few hours. Must. Stay. Motivated.

I think Sopdet's idea is pretty decent. It isn't the same but when I'm getting stuck I just start writing out my stream of conciousness about random topics and some of that stuff has been the best I have written. Every character needs little stories and opinions to help round them out, filler that helps develop who they are, making them relatable and giving them real thoughts type thing good to see you aren't giving up!

Read this the other day which I quite like; "Whether you think you can or cannot, you are right".
