Brooke - Sorry to hear that Maya is suffering from such bad colic, I hope the Chiro helps her. Maya`s just beautiful.
Jo - Glad you had a good 6 weekly appointment. Hope you had a good night.
Well Matthew had his 3rd night in a row sleeping through, I`m amazed but I keep hinking will this continue, when he wakes in the morning he wants a feed and then will go down for another hour and throughout the day he`d only have about 3 little naps of 1 hour long, I don`t mind as long as this is his routine for sleeping through the night.
Hope everyone is well.

Hi All. Hannah and I have had a rough day today. Vaccinations thismorning. Poor little mite. She got so distressed (as did I!). I've put off getting the oral polio vaccine, and have asked the GP for a prescription for the inactivated polio injection instead (lower risks associated with this new one). It's not on the immunisation schedule until November, but it's available for parents who want to pay for it (it's about $50). I will pick it up on Wednesday, and she will have the polio injection then. She's just gone to sleep now and seems exhausted. I am such a worry wart. I know the risk of adverse reactions is really low, but I am watching her like a hawk all day. Can't stay and chat for long...my Mum and Dad are arriving from Brisbane anytime. I'm wheeling Hannah around in her pram while trying to do at least a surface clean of the house....
-
Gosh it is quiet in here.
Dee - Well done to Matthew on sleeping all night. Hope he keeps it up. Lovethe new pictures of him.
Brooke - Hope you get Maya's colic sorted out and you are able to get some sleep.
Juliette - How is Hannah today ??
Alex is getting better with sleeping his first sleep of the night is 6-7 hrs. Also managed to get him back to bed this morning instead of him sleeping in his chair.
I have stopped give him his antibiotics and he is sleeping better well think so and he does not have so many runny poo's.
I do think it is easier the second time around as you learn by your mistakes with the first one as i never had Kimberley sleeping 7 hours straight until she was 1.
I went to the Target toy sale yesterday and i am now banned from going again as i spent way to many $$$$$ on the pair of them.
Hope everyone has a nice weekend.
-
I forgot to say one thing when we went out in Thursday to see DH's cousin and her two girls one of them tried to feed Alex chocolate cake and also woke him up from his sleep.
-
Hi Michelle - It has been quiet in here, I was beginning to think everyone was slowly deserting me. YAY for Alex`s great sleeps. Sounds like you`ve come and joined my club of being banned from buying toys LOL Oh no at the little girl trying to feed Alex cake.
I think I have to love and leave you all as I can hear a car out the front (someone is coming to see a couple of our Burmese we have for sale)
-
Dee - Hope you manage to sell you Burmese. Why are you selling it ??
We have not done much today walked to the shops and Alex is now fast asleep in his pram.
I am getting fed up with ppl saying how big he is ](*,)
I don't think he is that big.
-
Michelle - I know exactly what you mean by being fed up with people saying how big they are, as you can imagine I get it all the time yet MIL always says I don`t think he`s that big, Alex would just be average size wouldn`t he? It reminds me when I was still in hospital on day 6 Mark and I wandered down to the kiosk with Matthew, the older ladies who serve there mentioned 'Oh here`s a new baby, how old is he?" I replied "6 days", then I got 'Oh he`s not new then" I couldn`t believe it here I was still in hospital with Matthew being only 6 days old yet he wasn`t new ](*,)
I decided it`s about time I find a couple of our older Burmese a new home, they are only 16 months and 2 years of age but Mark doesn`t let me have them inside so they are stuck in the cattery and now with Matthew I don`t have the time to go out there and give them their own special time and thought they deserve better, so I have found a lovely home where they both will be loved and given cuddles, kept indoors and sleep in the ladies bed, so I`m happy and once they settle in they will think it`s great. I don`t like parting with them but I keep telling myself it`s for their own benefit. I`ve got a couple more I`m thinking of selling too, just not sure about it yet.
Juliette - I hope you have a better time with Hanah and her vaccinations then we did with Matthew, I`m not looking forward to his 4 month neddles. I didn`t know there was an inactivated polio vaccine out, I wish we were told so we could have had the option.
Not sure if I should say this but we got a 10.5 hour sleep from Matthew last night, he did stir a couple of times but didn`t wake, when he did finally wake he was quite happy to lay in his cradle for 30mins playing with his hands before he decided he wanted to get up, so all up 11 hours in the cradle and 10.5 hrs sleep \:D/ So ladies who are having problems at night this goes to show there is light at the end of the tunnel, just give it time, I`m still wondering will it continue.
Hope everyones well.

Dee - looks like you may have end that light at the end of the tunnel. How's your bb's going with his long sleeps? They'll settle down as well soon if they haven't already. How cute he was playing with his hands. 6 days is still a newborn!
My Matthew is doing lots and that's due to his age. He is rolling back to front all the time now and he falls asleep on his front alot. I must confess that I flip him over even though we are past the danger period. Just in his responses also. He is a bit clingy sometimes and doesn't like me leaving the room and he'll drink out of a sippy cup now. I posted in the 3 month htread that he pulled me into his face to give me his open mouthed kiss - so adorable! I could go on and on about Matty so I'd best stop.
Michelle - I love sales and have restrained myself a little. I love spending money on Matthew, even though he is far too young to appreciate it. 8-[ So sorry to hear that everyone comments on Alex, I think he is adorable btw! He looks average size to me! omg at trying to fee him choccy cake!
Juliette - hoping that Hannah is having a better day and you are enjoying having your folks with you.
Lesley - does it still look like you are moving?
Brooke - love your piccies of Maya - she is a cutie. Good luck at the chiro.
How is everyone else? Hope you are all well.
-
Nell - Your Matthew sounds like a real cutie and how lovely to pull your face in to give you a kiss. My BB`s aren`t too good, I wake up with them so sore, lumpy and leaking, do they settle down eventually do they? I thought I might have to put up with it everynight for the luxury of getting a night without feeding. Another night of 10.5 hours sleep, Matthew did wake up screaming at 5.30am but went back to sleep until 6.30, he often seems to cry in his sleep, you`d wonder what their nightmare was about.
Hope your all well.

Hannah seems to be feeling better today. She was really groggy after her injections on Friday, and slept pretty well on Friday night, but was grumpy all day Saturday and was still out of sorts last night. Didn't get much sleep last night - she was up every 1 1/2 to 2 hours all night. Just wanted to be cuddled I think 'cos she didn't seem particularly hungry. Poor little mite. I ended up just keeping her in bed with me.
We went out to "Opera in the Park" at Jimbour (part of the Queensland festival of music) yesterday. Hannah didn't seem too interested (too grumpy) but Mum, Dad, and I enjoyed ourselves. There were thousands of people there, and plenty of Mums with bubs so it didn't matter if Hannah cried every now and then. No one seemed to mind (though I felt a bit self-concious).
How's everyone elses weekend?
Dee - 10.5 hours sleep is great! Hannah cries in her sleep (and smiles and coos) too. I often wonder what she's dreaming about! I get people saying how big Hannah is all the time too. She is kinda chubby, but just normal baby type chubby. I get kinda annoyed 'cos she's just a healthy little girl. Some babies put on more than others and they're all perfect just the way they are! I guess I get sensitive about the connotation that somehow I'm overfeeding her (on breastmilk). I guess most people don't mean it that way though. Glad to hear that your cats are going to good homes.
Nell - When did Matty start rolling from back to front? I had Hannah on the floor on Friday, and I swear she almost did it! I am not in a hurry to see her do it though....she's only 2 months, and I'd like to keep her on her back at nights at least until she's 4 months. Great on the sippy cup! I bought one the other day (it said 3 months +). I figure it'd be better to give her EBM in that if she ever needs it. His little kiss sounds sooooo cute!!! It's so amazing the things they learn to do in just a few short months! Being a Mum is amazing.
Michelle - ditto on getting fed up with ppl saying how big Hannah is. I don't see why it is such an issue! OMG at those girls trying to feed Alex chocolate cake! That's great that Alex is sleeping 6-7 hours in a row. Way to go on the shopping spree. I get such a high from shopping for Hannah. It's addictive. I guess I'll be sorry when I have to clean up, put away all the toys, and step over them all in the lounge room!
Brooke - How's little Maya doing?
Jo - What are you and Erykah up to?
Hope everything is ok with you and Finlay Megan!
Hope your internet connection isn't playing up on you again Belinda, and that you, Mason and Luke are just having a great weekend!
Hope Chloe is behaving herself Lesley
-
Juliette - he rolled fron to back at about 3 months, but he has been doing it non stop from about 41/2 months and has taken to sleeping on his front in the last week or so, he is 5 months now. Don't worry about the comments people say, I'm sure they can't think of anything else to say. My MIL says it about Matty all the time,(that he is big) but it is in the 25th percentile so go figure.
Dee - yep, they do settle down - hard to believe isn't it? I still leak in the mornings, when I'm feeding on one side, the other lets down and leaks but it's way better than waking up in a pool of milk! Matty also cries out in his sleep, poor little mites.
Bought him a jolly jumper yesterday - he loves it - they are the best things!
-
Thankyou Brooke for the advice, I`d have to ask someone about the sage tea just to make sure it`s not going to completely dry me up and also to make sure if it was okay if I was pg (a very low possibility there) but then according to Nell my BB`s should sort themselves out, it`s laying in pools of milk which I don`t partically like especially waking up cold and wet. Having a shower would be fine if it happened during the day, I did hand express some foremilk this morning after Matthew wasn`t able to empty me out completely. I`m not sure what to suggest in regards to Maya`s sleeping pattern, with Matthew I tried to work him around us and if he was still asleep by 6pm/6.30pm I got him up as we`d want him back down at 8.30/9 so Mark was able to get some sleep before getting up at 2.30am, being awake from 8pm-2am must be hard on you
Nell - I can`t wait to put Matthew into our Jolly Jumper, Mark`s X accidently left Michaels and Alister`s Jolly Jumper behind so I washed it up and it`s come up like new :D People are funny aren`t they when it comes to babies size.
Juliette - Glad to hear Hannah`s a bit better today, the vaccinationes really knock them around. When MIL is here I often feel like I shouldn`t be feeding Matthew as often as I do, she doesn`t believe in 'demand feeding' and likes the 4hr feeds, but things change so we`re just doing whats best for baby, I`m sure if Matthew was on 4hourly feeds he`d be screaming quite a lot and I`d be stressed watching the clock. Hannah sounds like a clever girl if she`s almost rolling over.

Hi all,
Dee - just wanted to say that my BB's still leak every morning even though Jenna has been sleeping through pretty much for about 6-8 weeks. I have been feeding off one side only in the morning, and then half expressing the other side and freezing it. Then the next feed is off the second side. By lunchtime they have pretty much evened up.
Because I get quite low in supply at night, I give her a EBM bottle every second or third night, depending on how unsettled she is, so shes chugging through it OK.
Sounds like everyone is doing so well!!

Hi Everyone!
WOW - lots to catch up on!
Dee - I can't believe you are getting 10.5 hours sleep!! That is amazing.....we have had 2 nights of 7.5 and 8 hours and then he woke up after 7 last night completely wet through..poor little mite! I am holding out for the big sleeps like you. Your situation gives me faith!!
Juliette - Sorry to hear that the shots didn't go very well for little Hannah. I have Finlay's 2 month shots this Thurs and I am dreading it....I work for an Employer Network on Disability. I work with large companies implementing disability strategy (I don't work directly with pwd anymore - just on the strategic side of programs with businesses)
Brooke - I changed Finlay's pattern just over a week ago and started to wake him up between 8pm-9pm for a final feed and then put him straight back in his cot and he has been falling asleep for much longer...let us know when things change for you.
Ahhhh - the toy sale...I am tooo scared to even go there! I am like you Nell - spend far too much money on my special boy and he isn't even playing with toys yet!
We have had some lovely little smiles lately - although he isn't a smiley baby. He appears to be very serious. He is still gorgeous none the less...I am a little bias though! :)
Hope that everyone is OK and gets LOADS of sleep tonight...

Hi all
Sorry I have not been on all weekend. Its been a but hectic as I tried to get on top of the housework while DH is at home and also we try and get out and about ona weekend.
Went out for lunch today.
The last couple of nights have been unsettled for Erykah she has been awake in the night unable to stay asleep but obviously tired. Not crying but would if we put her down.
Bless her. But as it was the weekend we could work together to ensure we both got sleep. Tried to keep Erykah awake during the day today to help her sleep tonight.
Anyway off to get my tea so hope all are well
Its my mother and baby group tomorrow so looking forward to that
Jo
-
Brooke - Can't believe it took 5 weeks to get your baby bonus. We had ours within a week.
Hope you can change Maya's sleeping times.
We have had a busy day cleaning the house well DH did most of it. I still have a very large pile of ironing to do and i am going to try and do it tomorrow.
I think i spoke to soon yesterday with Alex's sleeping last night he woke every 4 hours i know it's not bad but just when i got used to him going 6-7hrs. When i woke i thought the clock said 3a.m but when i went to put his feed on it was only midnight.
Alex is staying a wake more during the day now which is good and was trying so hard to roll he got half way.
Sorry i have not caught up with you all but am still very busy. I'll try and catch up more tomorrow :)

Dee - Brooke has some good advice and Fi is right, some bb's don't settle. But give them a chance to before deciding to do anything. When Matty first slept through the night, I was waking up at 3am to express a little because I was so sore and full. and wet - eekk.
Heather - you are all added!
Brooke - once bubs hits one month, I think the tickers start counting in months, not weeks like we do. As there are differing amount of days in a mouth, that's why the ticker will reflect the month. Once Maya hits her 2nd month, it'll say 2 months and x number of weeks. Some even say the days. Does this help? Hope I haven't confused you more!

Welcome Cobs, of course you can join in, the more the merrier :D Hope your both well.
Brooke - This morning i did what you suggested, Matthew went 10.5 hrs between feeds and I didn`t leak yippee, I was full but not painfull, Matthew wasn`t hungry so only took a very small amount off one side so while in the shower I expressed some off the other side which made them feel not so tight. Matthew also gives me great big smiles when I kiss his cheeks, he also did a little squeal yesterday when I was tickling him. It`s funny you should mention an achy back as ever since I had the spinal block I feel bruised in the spot, I`ve got Mark to have a look at it a number of times but he can`t see anything and it`s been 12 weeks tomorrow since the c/s. Hope you had a good night.
Welcome Heather and Handrix
Belinda - They grow quickly don`t they, I have so many clothes here that Matthew has only worn a couple of times but I`m so glad I didn`t buy any 0000 for him and only a few 000.
Michelle - YAy for DH cleaning most of the house, I`ve got to get stuck into mine after the boys have been here. I hope Alex settles back into his 6 - 7hr sleeps soon for you.
Megan - Matthew often geta serious look on his face, they certainly show lots of emotions at this age. Your big sleeps will come, I thought I`d never see them until he was on solids but he proved me wrong.
Fi - Thanks for your tip, it sounds like a good idea especially when he wasn`t hungry this morning, perhaps I need to go down to the dairy to express each morning!!!!
I think I`ve replied to everyone, if I`ve missed you by accident I hope your well.

Lesley - My goodness that was a long sleep for Chloe, no wonder you were checking her every hour.
Brooke - I meant to say I can`t believe it took 5 weeks for your payment, we put ours in on a Friday and we were paid on the following Wednesday. Did you put it in at Centrelink because I believe if you put it in at Medicare it takes longer.
Does anyone know what is the best way to store babies clothes, I mean can I put camphor or mothballs in with them or is it best not too and hope moths etc don`t find them? I don`t really like the thought of throwing moth balls or camphor in with babies clothes but not sure if there is anything else I can do.

Hi all
Had a much better night with Erykah. Finally got her settled with a feed at 9pm then she woke at 1am I was back in bed by 1:15am and then she woke at 5am and again I was back in bed by 5:15am. She then woke at 8am played until 9 then slept till 11:00am and is now back to sleep.
We are off to the mother and baby group in 1/2hr. I have done all my chores. Was happy to win an auction for a car seat for Erykah when she is 6months old. (Her capsule which attaches to the pram lasts till 6 months.) The car seat is sold for $230 in shops online and I got it for $130!! DH is not aware that I bought it but she will need it in 4 months time.
He is also not aware of all the toys I have on layby! He told me yesterday that the pram looked like a circus with all the hanging toys. He has no idea bless him.
As for baby clothes I didn't buy any 0000 and Erykah is only just now fitting into 000 ( all clothes from the UK 0 - 3months that have been sent by family are still too big!) so I had to buy and borrow 0000 as she was in them for 6wks.
I am excited as when mum is here Black Eyed Peas are playing in Melbourne and Mum will be able to babysit. It will be our first night out without Erykah. (Its not till end of Sept but I am excited anyhow)
I am sick of wearing my maternity clothes but refuse to buy any new clothes until I loose weight!
I also have to fill out another form for the tax benefit for this year as Erykah was born 1 month prior to the financial year end. It is a complete pain. I have just about done our tax returns so there will be a bit more money coming our way.
Anyway best go get ready to go to the Mother and Baby group will post later

I had a better night last night with Alex just a shame Kimberley woke for nearly 2hrs.
dee - I just packed all of Kimberley's old clothes into boxes and put them away they did smell a bit when we got them out again but a good soak in the bath with conditioner (sp?) and a few times in the machine they were just fine.
I am also doing the same with Alex's stuff.
Jo - Well done on the carseat don't you just love ebay :)
Welcome Cobs and Olivia.
-
Thanks Michelle, I might just do the same with Matthew`s clothes saves them smelling of camphor or mothballs. Glad that you had a better night with Alex but oh no with Kimberley being awake for 2 hours.
Jo - I know exactly what you mean about being sick of wearing maternity clothes, I felt like a new woman when I was able to get into one of my pre pg jeans. Yay at your bargain car seat. Hope you have a great time at Mother`s Group.

I never brought maternity clothes i just brought bigger stuff in what i would wear normally. I can't wait to get back in to some of my old clothes i have so much that i have kept and not worn for sooooo long.
-
Hey girls!
Don't talk to me about fitting into pre-pg clothes! OMG I am soooo depressed, I am still 20kg heavier than what I was before. I know I was underweight before, but now I'm over my recommended weight. I have actually given away my size 8/xs stuff. I know I'll never get back there. I'd be thrilled to be a size 14 at present. Ideally I'd like to get into a size 12 eventually. I think that would be a sensible goal.
Hannah and I went to the local library thismorning and I was thrilled to discover that they had the family law textbook (right edition and everything) that I need this semester. It means I don't have to spend the money buying it. Text books are so expensive. I'd rather spend the money on Hannah anyway! Soooo....I went back to Big W and put another couple of toys on Layby. DH will be so cross.
Welcome Cobs and Olivia!
Jo - well done on getting the car seat so cheap! I have to get one in the next couple of months too. We hired a capsule from the Qld Ambulance. At the rate Hannah is growing we will need it sooner rather than later. Hope your mother's group was informative and fun! Mine starts tomorrow.
Michelle - I can't imagine what it'd be like having two littlies! I guess I'll find out soon enough (hopefully). Bummer about Kimberly getting up in the night. I hope you get a good uninterupted sleep tonight.
Belinda - good to hear from you. Glad your Mum is being a help. My Mum and Dad have just been up too...and it makes all the difference having someone else around to help out with bub. I think I'll have to buy a couple of 00 one piece suits too. Little miss is growing so fast.
Brooke - my maternity payment took ages too. I think it took about 3.5 weeks. 5 weeks is outrageous! I hate dealing with Centrelink/FTO at the best of times (I used to deal with them a lot on behalf of my clients with disabilities). I don't seem to have any pain from the epidural site luckily. Definately ask your doc about it.
Welcome Heather and Hendrix!
Dee - I am going to get a couple of those vacuum sealed bags for storing baby clothes. It's just like a sturdy plastic bag with a one-way valve/hole thingy that you stick the vacuum cleaner into to suck out the air. I've never used them before, but they supposedly keep clothes fresh.
Does anyone else find that their bub is grumpier in the early evening for some reason? Hannah is usually delightful all day, then becomes a whingy little grump at about 6pm. Apparently this is common with babies?? Just wondering what you do with them at this time of the evening....She's well fed, and changed usually...
-
Brooke - #-o Silly me in my muddled mind I must have worded it all wrong I meant to say I took your advice re having a warm shower and expressing some milk which I did this morning after Matthew only took a little and I was still full.
That`s exactly how my back feels, let me know what your Dr says as I didn`t even think about telling my OB at the time. I might go and mention it in the c/s thread and see what the response is as everyone there obviously had to have a spinal or epidural.
I hadn`t thought about those space bags I think thats what Juliette was talking about too. Where do I buy them from?
Juliette - We were obviously the same size pre pregnancy and I was underweight too. I think I should be doing something about my tummy, I`ve never had a fat flabby tummy before but then it took 9 months to get to the size we were we should be thinking it will take us 9 months to get back to pre pg weight but by then I hope to be pg again, a vicious circle. Thats great that you found the law book at the library. They do say it`s common for them to be unsettled from about 4pm onwards.
Matthew gave another little squeal today while I was playing with him and Daddy was here to hear it, I thought he wouldn`t start squealing until he was a bit older.

Space bags - that's what I was thinking of! Thanks Brooke! I've seen them, but never used them. I know you can get them at big w.
-
Hey everyone
Just a quick one as i just quickly read over what i had missed
Welcome to the newcomers :)
I didnt have epidural but a friend of mine had backpain for months after, it is one of the side effects of it, but still worth getting checked out.
I have been thinking Mason hasnt been drinking enough milk with only 5 feeds a day, realised today he is actually having 7 feeds a day, no wonder i feel like i am feeding him all the time, my goal is too get him back to 5 feeds but he just wont drink the amount they suggest, or he is sick if he does for ages after bottle. I am sure we will get there.
Only problem with Mum here is that he is constantly in someones arms, today i put him in swing and he screamed till he got himself in a coughing fit so i would pick him back up, going to be a tough few days snapping him out of that, but cant hold him all day and get things done. He has realised the swing makes him sleepy but he will not sleep in it, he screams till i get him out then falls asleep instantly in my arms, spoilt brat! :)
Havent done much else really, still have parents here
Glad everyone else is going well, and getting smiles and giggles :)
Mason is a real smiley baby, but with Luke around smiling heaps i presumed he would be.
Deanne: Great that you got a cute squeal and glad Dad got to hear it too :)
Juliette: Great about finding the bargain book, they are so expensive!
Pregnancy clothes: Havent worn a thing that i wore pregnant in weeks now, couldnt stand them any longer, have some laybys going now for new summer stuff, i pretty well much wore my normal clothes the whole way through except for a couple of things i bought. On the subject when i was laybying i couldnt be bothered trying stuff on so said to girl i will just get this and she said you would need an extra large for sure! I would be a 12-14 anyway so she wasnt wrong but i thought how rude of her to say that!
Everyone else has said how great i look and how much weight i have lost since having him so will go with their comments not hers!
Well anway enough rambling from me
Take care
Belinda
Anyone heard how Shannon is going??

Morning girls
Well i dont really have head space for personals sorry but we went to a friends funeral yesterday in Newcastle and still adjusting to him being gone.
Hendrix is doing ok - last night wasnt great waking every 3 hours and then really unhappy from 5:30-8 this morning. The night before that he did a 7 hour sleep and then woke for a feed fell straight back to sleep and then slept 4 hours. I dont know why one night can be so different from another but im in the head space that things will get into a pattern eventually.
Will try to catch up on others news later.

Heather just want to send you a
I'll try and catch up with you all later i'm not having a good morning the kids are fine it's just me.

Heather - I`m so sorry to hear of your sad news, sending you lots of hugs
Michelle - you sound like you also coule do with some hugs
