Awww Fi, Jenna is too cute. Was glad to see there were no *extra* bits in the bath pic with Shane ;) Nipple shields do a great job hey.
Scarlett, 3 months is such a nice age they are starting to get more of a personality about them. It's like they start to get what is going on aorund them more now. We do the same with the "you found it, you change it" I'm guilty of sending Noah out to Mark if he's dirty 8-[ I'd far rather change Tehya over Noah anyday now.
Deb, the idea on the pooey nappy is give her to him to undressed when it's bathtime especially if she's got a dirty one on. You are of course too busy to change her so it is all up to him. Either that or leave her with him abit longer and she's bound to poo while your out. Then he'll have to do it.
Tanya, I'm the same with Noah and Tehya's nappies. Mark gets the old kid and I get the new one most of the time. I don't really care where I feed my babies but I so like to be comfortable atleast.. I don't want to embarress anyone but at the same time I don't want to run and hide either. Afterall, their only boobs doing what God made them for. We went into the shops last night and Noah was wearing undies. Of course he decided to poo in them in the middle of Myres. Fantastic. We had to buy him undies and take him up to the baby change room, I only had 3 wet ones left in Tehyas bag too so I sent Mark into the disabled toilet with Noah to clean him up. YAY another one I got out of :)
Nat, had to LOL at Jacob pooing in the bath with Jeff. I remember Noah doing that to me when he was a newborn. Actually he did it to me in the shower 2 weeks ago when he had gastro. Nope I wasn't laughing either. Atleast it was the shower and I wasn't sitting in it.
Nell, atleast Matty didn't do a half attempt at making a mess hey. Poor little man.
Well Tehya has certainly been growing well. I got her weighed today and she is 5.31kgs, length 58.5cm and hc 38. Last Friday I weighed her and she was only 4.89kgs so she has gained 420grams in a week. OMG !!!
Atleast I know the 100 feeds a day atm are going somwhere.
Take care
Trish
Sarah, hope the you guys are going ok. Hows Zander and Amanda going?

Welcome Kaza - I'm sure you have another name though!! We will anxiously await your first post!
Trish - LOL your post was postly about Poo!! What do you have on the mind? Yes we censored the bath shots, although you do get to see one of Shane;s really classy tatts on his legs. Deeeee-lightful!
Jenna's poos have slowed down, shes not even doing one a day which seems a little strange. She's really grizzly tonight. Hopefully this next feed will get her down. Shane let me have a bath to myself tonight, which was lovely. I almost felt normal. I thought about shaving my legs, but decided to read a bit of book instead.
Well the guzzler is calling again. I think she might just want a bit more milk. Hopefully she'll stay down til 2-3am. Hopefully, please, fingers crossed!!!
Fiona
Hi Kaza, congrats on the birth of Zaliah
Fi - Matty's poos have slowed as well, about once every 2 days, you know not to worry about it right? As long as she is still having lots of wet nappies. Great photos of Jenna - did I tell you that I love the name Jenna - it is of my favourites!
Nat - great place to have a poo. Matty wee's all the time in the bath, I think it's great - saves on nappies!
Scarlett - happy 3 months to Emily for yesterday and see you in the next forum in a couple of weeks!
Rob and Zola, hope Nate and Bas are both doing well, come back and post soon!
Tanya - I'm with you, DH changes poohy nappies all the time. Actually for the whole of the first night in hospital, he changed all of Matty's nappies as I was tied to bed still and too exhausted.
Deb - I'm sure the trip to scholl will be fine. Have you got some EBM saved up? Maybe take that along in case she gets really hungry. I am taking Matty to my work next week as well and asI work will nearly all fella's, it'll be interesting when I have to feed Matty! I must say I did it in full public on Thursday for the first time, at the BB meet, there were 4 of us b/f at the table so watch out if anyone complained!
Must go, little man is waking...
Back again, he can't decide if he is waking or not... so I've leave him for now. Where was I?
That's right, the past 2 nights Matty has slept 12 hours and 11 hours. He is basically down at 7pm after a bath and a feed and doesn't wake until 6 or 7. God am I a lucky woman!
But yesterday we had one of those I don't want to settle and I don't know what I want days. He basically fed every 2-3 hours and was so tired at some point, he would cry for an hour before going to sleep. The only way I could settle him was in the hug-a-bub, nothing else worked. I had him on the change table, changing him and he just kept arching his back right up, almost flipping himself over, crying his little heart out. I think that either means tired or wind pain (what do you think girls?). Anyway, I think it may have been wind, I ended up giving him some gripe water and he settles down in about 15 mins, not sure if it was the gripe water or he was just exhausted. Anyway, that's probably why he has slept so long!
Hope you bubs are sleeping well and Sarah - hope you are okay looking after Zander and Amanda.
LOL Fi, I just re read my post and it was true #-o See what life comes to when you have this many kids...... My legs are sooooo hairy, i think it's been around 2 weeks since I last shaved them!!! Maybe more. I don't get the chance for a bath by myself, thought that I would do it last night as Tehya was finally asleep and you guessed it, the minute I started running the bath she was awake and screaming. So another shared bath for me, first Tehya then Noah.
Welcome Kaza and congratulations on the birth of Zaliah.
Nell, your really getting spoilt on the good sleeps. YAY for Matty \:D/ what a good boy he is. I would say that the back arching is probably wind too, they tend to arch and stretch and through themselves around with bad wind.
Tehya was really unsettled yesterday and last night up til bedtime. She just kept on crying which really isn't like her at al. And the feeds OMG I swear she feeds soooo much, I woke this morning with the hugest, fullest boobs and she has had 2 feeds overnight. She has definately increased this cows supply :) Her nose is blocked up again so here we were awake again from 2 til around 3.30am with Tehya snuffling and trying to breath and have a feed at the same time. I think she really gets the s**ts with it because she just gives up and decides to do some talking instead ](*,) Pretty sure I fell back to sleep before she did though. UMMMAAHHH.
Got out the Fess this morning and gave her nose a good clean out, she had some more bb and is fast asleep atm. God I hate those catnaps though, it is so tiring.
Hope everyone has a great day. We are off to footy again to watch Joel - this is my Saturday ritual now. Looks like rain up here though.
Take care
Trish
Trish - have fun at the footy. Hope it doesn't rain too much. LOL @ your pooey post. There's certainly lotsa poo happening atm!! ;) Hope Tehya is a little more settled today. LOL @ your milk supply being increased - you do feel like a cow, I bet!
Nell - wow! Great sleeps from Matty! I don't have any EBM as I find it very difficult to get very much BM out. I am going to work on it a bit more eventually. Still, I might take along a formula bottle for back up. I should be ok tho! Good luck with going to your work with Matty. I am sure the blokes won't mind copping a look at booby if you need to feed him, LOL. Sounds like he has had a bit of wind. That's what Gabby is like in the late arvo, early evening. Very grizzly and very windy. It's hard to tell if the gripe water works because I usually try to leave it until she really needs it and then you don't know if they stop crying because they are knackered or because of the medicine. ](*,)
Fi - Sorry I missed your call! I didn't even hear the message until late last night. We had about 6 messages on the answering machine and I thought I had listened to all of them! DOH! The hug-a-bub is grrrreat! Gabby settled in it almost instantly. Neil will hopefully get to use it this weekend at some stage. I briefly showed him how it works and he was quite impressed. I got a DVD with it btw (they must not give you the option like where you bought it from). SO glad I have it now tho.
Gabby slept from 9:30pm til 7am so that was wonderful once again. I honestly didn't think she would sleep so well because she drank her whole bottle (after just having a BF) and was wide awake afterwards when she normally crashes! Probably a good thing for her wind to be awake for a little while after the bottle n e way. I got her up and fed her in bed then Neil and I had a play with her. It was so nice for Neil to see how happy she is in the mornings. Usually she is a grumpy-guts by the time he gets home from work. She just LOVES these black and white pictures that I have along the side of her cradle. She will lay there and chat to them for ages. There's coloured pictures on the other side (it's like a material banner that goes down the whole side) for when her eyes can focus properly. So cool to watch her.
She has been asleep again for about an hour now listening to rage on the tv in our room in her rocker. I've given up trying to put her back in her cradle after her morning feed. She just doesn't seem to settle in there unless it is night time. I'll worry about that later, I think.
Seems I might have to have a high frequency BFing day soon. I honestly don't think there is much left in my boobs by 8pm because Gabby gets so ****ty when feeding. She will suck for a bit then arch her back and pull off constantly. She'll even cry out of frustration. I thought it was wind but when I sit her up she screams until I put her back on the boob. Makes it very hard to hear the TV, lol. Trial and error, hey?

Deb. my neices very rarely slept in their cots during the day after about 6 weeks of age. SIL usually just left them to sleep in the pram, rocker, etc during the day. They went down so well in their beds at nighttime tho...perhaps it has to do with the whole getting to know daytime and nighttime.
You're probably right, Chrissy. I'm not too worried about it - so long as she sleeps.
She is asleep in the hug-a-bub atm. Loves it!
Hope Sarah is OK - shes been quiet!
Trish - I'm pretty sure its been about 5 weeks since these legs were shaved! They are super hairy, but who cares - Its not like Shanes getting any action, so whats the big deal!!
Deb - glad you like the hugabub. Neil will love carrying her around in it, sometimes Jenna fights it a little, but a few back slaps and a bit of jiggling, and she's right.
Nell - I would definitly say wind. Jenna gets really kicky and archy when she gets wind. I haven't resorted to gripe water yet. I usually just give more bb and she gets distracted. Oh - and we had 2 poos this morning, so she must be back to normal!!
Better get to her, she's waking up after netball. SHe got lots of cuddles cuase we didnt have her in the pram, so everyone wanted a cuddle. Yay - mum had hands free!!
Fi
can't w wait till I finally get to use my hug-a-bub.
Its the only 'baby item' i have apart from a 12 pack of cloth nappies that where on special one day, that heath keeps eyeing off to use as truck polish rags.
I practiced using the hug-a-bub with my neighbours baby born...LOL
Wow Fi, they must be hairy. Oh well I'm one up on you now. I got shave mine in the shower this morning. Yay at getting a hands free day to, I'll be having an afternoon like that. Going to the scrapshop for a couple of hours, they are having an Undercoverwear party there this afternoon. Not sure that I'll buy anything but atleast I'm out of the house for a couple of hours.
Deb, footy was ok just bit cold, rain held out thankfully. We had a draw 22 all. Was a good game too. Tehya slept through me yelling out too :)
You girls are making me jealous all this talk about your hug a bubs. Not really sure if I know what they look like but if they are the one I'm thinking of they look great. Do you sort of strap them across your body in it??? Tehya loves her Baby Bjorn carrier, she snuggles up and goes to sleep in it. have to stick the summy in her mouth though because it just teases her having her that close to the bbs.
Hope everyone has a great Mothers Day tomorrow. We are having lunch at Mums house as usual but are making it a little party for Noah too. He will be 3 on Tuesday. I was in hospital for Mothers Day when he was born (2 days before it) and I hated it. Just sat there and cried because I wanted to be home with my boys. Now all I want is a really big sleep in - oh and a quite house to do it in :)
Take care
Trish
HAPPY MOTHER'S DAY
Sorry guys. Had a few very very bad days with Zander & wasn't able to get on. On Friday he got himself so over tired & worked up that he spent most of the day screaming. Yesterday he had the worst wind & reflux pain so he spent most of the day screaming! Loooong few days!
On the upside though it seems as though Amanda did only have a virus cos she was feeling pretty good yesterday. I'm still taking her for the u/s tomorrow just to check for the gallstones anyway.
Sorry for no personals, cos I've gotta run. Will come back & update properly.
Oh yeah and happy 1 month to Nixee :D
HAPPY MOTHER'S DAY LADIES
Another bad day & I'm just exhausted. Zander was pretty good this morning but from about 3.30 this afternon he has been pretty bad. I have no idea what's setting him off though. We were at my sister's house & he was smiling & chatting away to her then all of a sudden he's screaming non stop for an hour. I just don't know what to do to help him - even granma didn't work this time.
How did the undercover wear party go Trish? Hope you're lunch/party went well today too. Poor Tehya yesterday being unsettled. I hope she was better for you today.
Hehehe at the hairy legs Fi! Mine are like that from the knee up & aren't much better below!
Yay at your good sleeps Deb. Zander is slowing getting there, but I think the last 2 nights have been good cos he was exhausted from crying so much.
Nell sounds like Matty loves his sleep! You must be loving it too. I think the back arching thing is something to do with wind - I'm sure I read that somewhere.
Welcome Kaza & congrats on Zaliah's birth :D
Sorry to whoever I've missed I can't go back any further & I have no idea what else I've read! I am sooo hoping tomorrow is a better day & I'll be back properly.
HAPPY MOTHERS DAY
bit late in the day but thought I would wish it anyway.
Sarah - I hope that Zander gives you a good night and I am glad that Amanda is feeling better. Poor little Zander, Matty has been a bit unsettled as well... still arching the back a bit. He met my nanna yesterday and she thought he was wonderful, she is in a nursing home and he was a bit overtired and started crying, woke all the old folk up from a nap - oops, we left pretty soon after!
Got the scrapbooks made in time and they were wellp received, have taken photos and will still them on the site in the nest few days.
Trish - hug a bub does sort strap on your body but up and down, not across IYKWIM? Sort of hard to explain - you wear it and they are snug against your body - it is the best thing.
I had a lovely mums day and received a nice watch, DVD, scrapbooking stuff and choccy off DH and Matty, hope everyone else had a great mothers day.
Happy Mothers Day girls. Now I am really late. Hope that you all got spoilt with your new little bubbas.
Sarah, I really hope that Zander has calmed down for you now. I really don't know how you do it. I suppose in some ways you should be glad that you have no other children to have to deal with and can just give him all of your attention atm. I forgot to say the other day. I had a gf who had the same sort of symptoms the Amanda does i.e passing out and stuff anyway she ended up having to get her gallbladder taken out. All is good now for her.
Nell, good to hear that you got the albums finished in time. LOL @ Matty waking the oldies up. Maybe they should turn their hearing aids off when other peoples visitors come or when having a nap :)
Happy 1 Month to little Nixee too. Now you get to join the big bubs :)
Tehya is STILL doing the catnap thing. Undercoverwear party went good, got home around 7.30pm. Noah's party went well too although he was tired before it even started and was being a little terd before hand. Not sure what I ate or drank but something set my stomach off and I was sick with gastro for the rest of the afternoon/evening. Real fun when you have everyone waiting to do the cake and you can't move off the loo. Can't even poo in peace without the whole party knowing where I was
Tehya is back in bed atm, but of course I have to get her up soon for swimming. No wonder the poor baby doesn't settle.
Oh yeah, Mothers Day I got a Slow Cooker, a box of Fererro Rochers, a box of Celebrations Choccies, and this really lovely (not) necklace from the school stall :) Of course I wore it around the house yesterday morning though. Oh bacon and eggs for brekkie and I got to stay in bed til 8am. Not asleep though ](*,)
Take care
Trish
Hi All,
Hope your days went well. I got a little card with two feet printed inside it. Very cute, and thats all I wanted so I'm happy. I'm hoping not to get into the whole commercial side of it.
I am wayyyyy p'd off with insurance companies - I can't even begin to say why they have annoyed me, cause I get too angry thinking about it, but anyway, we have to have insurance right??
Sarah - I hope zander is feeling better today. This little mite wont go to sleep and has thrown up SOOOO many times today. And her nappy stinks and I have to change it.
Motherhood is the pits sometimes. On the plus side - I shaved my legs!!! Woohoo!! And I read a book yesterday, but didn't get breakkie in bed.
I need to go shopping. I'm getting cabin fever. I wish I had some money. Bum.
Fiona
Hey guys, hope mothers day was good for all of you. We had a fantastic day - can't wait till next year.
Well I'm off to check out the next forum, but lookforward to chatting with you again soon.
Hey guys,
Sounds like we all got some lovely gifts for mother's day. Neil got up to Gabby in the morning and brought her in then took her out after her feed so that I could sleep for another hour (she was fussing). When he came back in, Gabby had a bunch of flowers and a card for me. Awww! In the card was a $100 voucher for our local hair salon for me to get my hair done. I was just thinking about that the other day too! Lovely! We had the family over for dinner. Mum brought over the roast meat and I cooked the veges (well, started them - sisters had to take over cos Gabby was being a very windy fuss-pot!). I gave Mum some coasters that you can put photos into. Of course, I put photos of Gabby in them. She says she can't bring herself to put a coffee mug on Gabby's face, LOL.
Sarah - sorry to hear you and Zander have been having such a rotten time. Good to hear your sis is ok. Maybe Zander was having sympathy pains for her??
Trish - urrgh @ the gastro during the party. It always hits at horrible times I reckon - like it knows. Good to hear Noah had a great party. I hope Tehya stops cat napping and starts having good, long sleeps 4 u soon.
Nell - good to hear you got the scrap books done in time. LOL @ Matty waking up all the oldies. They wouldn't have known what hit em! Kind of the opposite end of the spectrum, hey?? ;)
Fi - I hope Jenna's spews get better. I guess some babies are more spewy than others. Must be all that milk you have!!
Went to the school today. I took up your suggestion, Nell, and expressed in the morning and managed to get 110mls!! So I didn't have to whip the boob out! I am going to express a little every morning (now that I have a stove-top I can sterilise the breast pump bits that can't go in a microwave steam steriliser). Then I can build up a nice storage and hopefully be able to leave Gabby with Mum every now and then when I am at my wit's end. The mornings seem to be the best and, I tell ya - SO much came out when I expressed at the same time as feeding. It was awkward and Gabby got a bit shirty but we got there!
So, yeah, went to the school and everyone went nuts. A couple of the kids from my grade last year spotted me on the way in. I hung out in the staff room for recess where Gabby proceeded to cry as she was passed around. I gave her the bottle when, before I knew it, it was lunch time. So more showing her off to the staff then outside for the kids to have a look. Well, did I build up quite a crowd??? By the time I got out to the playground, I had about 30 kids walking with me (most of them ex-students) and I was catching up with all my not-so-little babies. I could tell they were saving up their stories for me. One little boy who was a bit of a rat-bag last year told me he is still naughty and then told me allllllll about his dog, his sister, his Mum, - his whole life in the last 6 months. I didn't realise how much I missed him!!! LOL One of the little girls had tears in her eyes when she saw Gabby. God, kids can be so genuine and sweet, can't they? I actually miss the school slightly now that I have had a bit of a taste of it again.
I left after lunch. Thankfully Gabby slept most of the way. She is napping now after a big feed. Poor thing - I think she was annoyed because she missed out on her morning sleep.
I am now very exhausted!!
So thats where you were Deb!! I tried calling you to see if you wanted to "do lunch". I was seriously cranky this morning, and just felt like spending money. Glad to hear that you had a great time at school, and wooohoo on the expressing! Definitly a good idea to get as much stored up as you can. As for the breast pump, the MCHN said not to get too stressed about sterilising for EBM cause its so good. It would probably be enough for you to clean the pump in hot soapy water, and then scald it with boiling water. Thats all I do with my ice-cube tray.
I love my microwave steriliser though - I'm so pleased I got it rather than spending extra money on the electric one. I have the Avent one, and it has slots for everything to go inside, and cause I have the Isis breastpump, it all fits in really easily. Fabulous!
Anyway - my day got a littler better. I went to Medicare and got Jenna on my card - so no more big drs bills! Went to Target and swapped a couple more gifts returned. Socks - I got that many pairs of socks!!!! And vests, I really didn't need more cause I got given a pile second hand, and the ones I really liek are the sort that do up underneath. So I swapped them for some muslin wraps to use as chuckky clothes. I go through about 3-4 a day, so more were needed. Then I went to lunch, adn came home! All in all an exciting day trip.
And the insurance company called, and I'm not cranky with them anymore cause they are giving me a discretionary multi policy discount after all!! Yay! it makes sense to complain about some things!!
Very quiet in here at the mo. Not sure what to add cause there aren't many posts to respond to!
Trish - nice to see your last post didn't miss out on Poo. would be disappointed if you hadn't mentioned it!
Oooh!! One big exciting thing for me. Jenna fits her all in one nappies!! Yay! Cloth nappies that I can trust Shane to get right! She must be growing after all... we will find out tomorrow how much at her weighin.
Bye
Fi
Sounds like your trip to school was a big success Deb. Naughty mummy should be sleeping though seeing as you are exhausted [-X Yay for having a good mothers day yesterday. Sounds like you're getting the whole expressing thing working, that's great!
That is a cute present Fi :) We try not to do the whole commercial thing for mothers & fathers days - just a small present usually. Yay for the shaved legs, I am still yet to do mine. Cabin fever has hit here as well, so bad that I went to visit dad at work today!
Trish, I am glad that I don't have any other kids atm to deal with seeing as Zander can be very demanding. I was saying to mum the other day that it's good that Zander is our first - that way if we had an easy baby to start with it would be hard to deal with a difficult one now if that makes any sense. I think what I'm saying is I don't know any better so it's all good! Yuck at the gastro AGAIN. Glad that the party went well though.
LOL at Matty waking up all the old people resterday Nell! Glad the scrapbooks were well received. I'm thinking of making one for my mum for Christmas.
Well Amanda had her u/s this afternoon & it turns ut she doesn't have gallstones *phew* It seems as though she bruised some of her insides when she fainted but all is good now. All she has to do now is go for her EEG on May 23rd to make sure there isn't something major causing her fainting episodes.
Awwww Fi, sorry I wasn't home to catch your call. Sounds like you could have used the company too. Still, by the sounds of it you had a pretty productive day. YAY for Jenna-Benna getting bigger! Must be great to use the next lot of nappies. I agree with you on the button-up vests as opposed to the singlets. I have soooooo many of both. Only thing is, most of her button-up vests are frilly or have a pattern that show through if she is wearing something light so I will put a singlet on her for those occasions! Thanks for the advice about the sterilising. I won't worry about boiling the ice trays now. I wasn't in the mood for boiling the big pot just for that!
Sarah - so glad you sister doesn't have gall stones. What a scary experience all this must have been for her! Ikwym about not knowing any better. How much of a shock is it going to be for me if my next baby doesn't sleep at night with the bottle?? It's good that you can put a positive slant on it all. After all - like EVERYONE keeps saying - they change very quickly. Before you know it, Zander will grow out of all of his reflux etc. and it will be easier to keep him content. My friend's little boy that had BAD reflux is a gorgeous, well-behaved kid that sleeps really well. You wouldn't even know he was such a sicky baby. There's light at the end of the tunnel. It's just so damn hard to see sometimes (esp. when you don't get the sleep you need).
Gabby must be buggered from our big drive to Werribee today! She has been asleep since 3:30pm and it's now 6:30pm. I should be in making dinner but Neil is running errands so I won't bother until I know he is going to be home to eat it fresh (we are having wraps and the meat isn't as nice re-heated). I am getting sick of the wind that Gabby has been getting. I reckon I could burp her for half an hour and still wouldn't get it all out. It's frustrating cos it wakes her up and the only way I can get her back to sleep is to cuddle her. What was that I was telling you about light at the end of the tunnel, Sarah?? LOL - I should listen to my own advice hey?? ;)
Hey Deb have you tried gripe water? It's supposed to be really good for windy bubs.... You might have already said, but mummy mush brain is working overtime atm ;)
Yep, Sarah. I use the gripe water but it doesn't seem to help too much. It's hard to tell though cos I give it to when she is all riled up.
Trish - I took a pic of me with the hug a bub on if you wanna check it out on Gabby's site.
Hi all
Well I cant believe Pheonix is a month old. It seems like 6 months lol.
Things are ok here, still in tremendous pain with my back but am going to the docs about it tomorrow so heres hoping it will get better one day.
I think Pheonix has problems bringing up wind at the moment as she seems to be full of pain after a bottle and wont bring up much at all. I tried some cooled boiled water and she burped and farted like a trooper so maybe thats the go with her.
She is still sleeping in bed with me but tonight we are going to persist with the cot. It would be nice to be in the same bed as dh for a change.
For the bubbies on formula how much were they taking at a month old? I am not sure whether Pheonix is drinking enough or not.
Hi everyone, i hope you all had a great mothers day.
Just a quick update, i will do personals tommorrow.
Ryan is going well, he's growing really fast.
Took him to the Dr the other day because he started being really sick and it turns out he has reflux, i noticed that a few of your bubs also have it but he told me to give him a bottle of reflux formula a day and it should settle down? now i've never heard of this, i thought they had medication to treat it, anyway we tried it and it works a little bit, but he is still throwing up and gags at every feed be it boob or bottle.
I am going to buy him some infant gaviscon tommorrow to see if that helps.
He is still putting on weight so the Dr is not too concerned.
anyway, better go to bed now before his next feed.
Take care
Naomi, what a pain that Ryan has reflux too. Atleast you have a diagnosis for him. Great that he is still gaining weight nicely though.
Kayla, I hope all goes well at the Drs for you and that he can somehow help you with your back. Is that wishful thinking? WOOHOO at Phoenix being a month old now. Tehya sleeps in bed with me of a night time too, she starts out the night in her bed then when she wakes for her feed she comes in with me til morning. One day I will have enough energy to make her stay in her own bed. LOL.
Deb, the hug a bub looks great. How long can you use them for? I love the button up vests too. They are even better once they start crawling as everything sort of creeps up on them, atleast you know something wil stay tucked in and down covering up their backs. Theres another thing I found with little girl clothes, dresses... you are constantly pulling them down and making sure their singlets and other stuff are down. Maybe its just me :)
Sarah, I think when you do have a "good" baby first time around you get a rude shock when the next one isn't so good. That happened to me with Joel and Brandon. Although Noah was the worse one of all and you'd think by no.3 I'd be able to handle it. NOT.
Fi, fantastic that Gabby now fits into her other nappies, no excuse for Shane not changing her now hey.
Tehya was a bugger again last night. She was down by 8, up at 12.20 for a feed, again at 2.30 - gave her dummy, no feed, again at 4 ish for a feed and up just before 6am with a feed and she had wet all though her clothes. Must have had too much milk to drink. She has been changed and fed again and is back to sleep in her rocker for the time being.
Noah is in the bath and the boys are starting to get up and ready for school. We are off to the cemetary today to visit the family. How sad is that. My little brother is burried with my Nan and my Pops ashes are burried in with them. My dad is cemated down there too. I hate that I have to take my babies there to visit family they will never get the chance to meet.
Have a great day all.
:confetti: HAPPY BIRTHDAY NOAH :confetti: :happybday:
Take care
Trish
:happybday: Noah! Such a big boy now! 3 years old - wow!
Trish - sorry to hear that you have so much family to visit at the cemetary. Still, it's good that you don't shelter the kids from it. After all, death is a part of life, hey? I want to be able to tell Gabby as much about her grandparents as I can find out. Unfortunately, Neil and his brothers didn't ask many questions when they were kids and their Dad never spoke about their Mum (which is a real pity!). So I just grill the relos whenever I get a chance. I find out all kinds of info that shock the boys. Like, when their Mum was sick with a brain tumour, they thought it was just morning sickness because she found out she was pregnant with her third baby. She died when he was 10 months and the autopsy found it was a brain tumour. So she didn't even know what was wrong with her before she died. The boys had no idea. Honestly, I don't know who they thought they were helping by not talking about it with the kids. My Mum has always talked to us about when my older brother was still-born and I think it has meant that all of us have a healthy knowledge of death and how it's not the end of the world when rotten things happen to us. Uno... life goes on even when it really sux?? Ok.... time to get off my soap box.
It's funny how you say that Noah was your worst baby even though he was your third. Mum says the same about Hanna and she is the third. She always says that if Hanna was her first, she would not have had any more children, LOL. Must be 3rd Child Syndrome ;)
Yep, the hug-a-bub is great. Thanks to Fi for showing me hers!! I am such a copy-cat but I am sure that she doesn't mind ;)
Naomi - bummer that Ryan has reflux! That's no good at all. I hope the infant gaviscon can help him out. It's great that he is putting on weight despite the reflux. Still, it can't be pleasant for you to have to deal with gagging ang crying all the time because of it.
Kayla - ikwym about the first month feeling like 6 months. Everyone raves on about how "they grow up so quickly" and I was rolling my eyes thinking; "Well, Gabby is taking her fricken time!". LOL I hope the Doc can help you out with your back. Maybe a visit to a physio would help? Back pain is the worst. Thankfully I don't suffer from it too much (carrying around a big belly most of my life 'prepped' me for pregnancy I reckon! ;) ). I might have to try the cool boiled water on Gabby next time she has wind if it works for Pheonix. Good luck with getting her to sleep in the cot. All you can do is keep trying, hey?
I tried expressing again today but I wasn't very successful. Missy moo didn't want to attach so it was hard to do the ole feed and express at the same time. Ah well. I managed to get one ice-cube worth. Better than nothing! Plus, I think it may be mainly hind-milk because it was from the boob that she had already had a red-hot go at. Hmm.... that reminds me, I have a question about fore and hind milk. Will have to visit the breasfeeding forum I think!
Not much on today. I am going to make more scones (we are scone crazy atm). I have to return a DVD and maybe wander around Target but that can wait. I really should walk. Target is within walking distance from my place but it's probably a good 45 minute walk one way. Not sure if I am that confident yet.
Hey Deb, you could always walk there & catch a taxi home if you need to.... How sad that the boys didn't know anything about your MIL, it's good though that you are finding out as much as you can for Gabby.
Had to laugh at Noah & Hanna being the worst babies out of 4 cos Amanda was our worst & she was 3rd too LOL!!
Bumma about Tehya last night Trish. We had an odd night last night, will explain in a bit. I agree with Deb that it's sad you have so many family members in the cemetary :( Happy Birthday to Noah as well :D
Awww Naomi, your poor bubba. We were told to put Zander on the AR formula, but it just made him constipated. It's thicker so it's supposed to sit heavier in their stomachs so it's less likely to come up. We were told to try gripe water before each bottle but it didn't help so Zander was put on medication. He still throws up alot, but the medication stops the production of stomach acid so it doesn't hurt him anymore.
Aww Kayla, sorry to hear your back is still giving you grief. I hope the Dr can help you today.
Had a good night for Zander last night, but a bad night for mummy! He had his bottle at 7.30 & was in bed by 10.00, where he slept until 6.00 \:D/ Problem was while he slept through, he kept spitting out his dummy or throwing his blankets off & whimpering in his sleep for me to fix him up. So I was up at least once every hour, sometimes more ](*,) I took him to bed with me after his feed at 6.00 and he finally got bac to sleep so I had a 2.5hr sleep this morning - it's sad when you get excited over a 2.5hr sleep
Yay for Zander's good sleep but it's no good that you still had to get up so much, Sarah. They are such restless sleepers, aren't they? I close her door and ours now. We can hear her when she cries but we can't hear her fussing (otherwise I would never sleep). I only use the monitor when I am out in the shed on the puter now. All her noises drive me nuts, LOL.
LOL @ Amanda being the 3rd child aswell! Hmmm... note to self... stop at 2 kids... ;)
Problem is Deb he's in the room right next to ours. The house is set out a bit weird - there is a door from the loungeroom into Zander's current room & then a door from that one into ours. So basically to get to our bedroom have to walk past him, if that makes sense. His actual bedroom is right at the other end of the house so I'm a bit nervous having him in there at the moment cos it's so far away.
Fair enough too. I am lucky cos our house is so little so she is nice and close. I think if I had a bigger house it would be a different story.
She has been asleep since 9:30am! Having a good nap this morning. YAY!
LOL Shannon - yes! Block your ears!
LOL Fletch... that's what they allllll say! ;)
ARGHHHHHHH!!! I had my first night of a really, really, really windy baby! She wouldn't stop screaming from about 3am to 4:30, and finally only calmed down when I cuddled her in bed under my arm with a little finger in her mouth.
The poor thing gobbled down too quickly cause she was really hungry (had a 9:30-3am sleep), and it was just awful. So I got crap sleep after that.
Deb - the hug-a-bub looks great!! And I was only copying everyone else, so its all good. As for the noises. Jenna is a real snorter, but I guess I am just getting used to the noise and sleeping through it. I couldn't bear to not have her in the roomwith us. I'm not sure what I'm going to do when she is too big for the bassinett. I think our front living room will turn into the nursery, and then the glass french doors can be shut. we will still be able to hear her though.
As for the third child - I was one, and I was the best baby!!! Or so I believe. My mum complains most about my brother - he wouldn't sleep at all, was terrible when it came to solids, and was permanently attached to Mum. Oh - and it was a horrendous labour. Mum definitly doesn't have fond memories of him!!
My fuzzibunz nappies are AWESOME!!!!! She wore one for about 5 hours, and I couldn't feel a thing - and there was no leakage. when I opened it up, the lining was dry next to her bum, and the padding was sopping, sopping wet. So happy! I am definitly going to get some more of them.
Happy birthday Noah! I hope mUm and Dad buy you lots of cool toys to make up for your little sister arriving on the scene! Trish, shane has the same thing at the local cemetary where we do the rounds every couple of weeks. His little brother died of leukemia at age 5 - he's there, so is his Mum who died a few years ago, as are the nieces who were stillborn over the last couple of years. Shane always takes a choccy for the girls and his Mum, and usually sits down to have a beer with her at Chrissie. Last week we glued a cool toy car to his brother's grave. Very sad visiting the babies section. but its a lovely cemetary, and his mum has a view of the bay!
Naomi - bugger about the reflux. I have a funny feeling I may get the same diagnosis. How long does reflux last for?? If tehre is light at the end of the tunnel, I can definirly cope!
1 month tomorrow for us! Unreal, it does seem to go quickly, although when I stop to think about the number of nappies I have changed, it puts the time in persepctive!
Fi
And another funny story. Last night shane lifted Jenns in the air to kiss her on the lips, and she chucked in his mouth!!!!! SOOOOO funny (and really glad it wasn't me...) I was on the phone to the insurance company and had to put the phone down to laugh!
Poor little bugger had a bad chucky day yesterday.
Hi girls,
Naomi, I am sorry to hear that Ryan has refux! I hope he grows out of it real soon.
Happy Birthday Noah!! I hope he has a great day.
Trish IKWYM about the visits to the cemetary, I won't go into it, but I hope it all goes well.
I hope you can sort out those catnaps soon too, Emily used to do that too... drove me INSANE!
Deb, sounds as though you little school friends miss you. When are you thinking of going back?
Wato was adopted so I want to find out about his parent too... a bit easier in my case. But apparently his bio mother didn't tell her father about him and he still doesn't know. I asked Wato if he was going to try and find her (he has met her once over 15years ago) and he growled at me telling me he'll do it in his own time, so I haven't said anything since.
Sarah, Sounds as though Zander loves his dummy. Poor you I hated getting up for the dummy! I use a rolled up nappy push up against the side of the snuggle bed (she has the snuggle bed in her cot) and her dummy to keep Violet's in (when she uses it, which is becoming more often), it doesn't cover her nose, just her dummy. If she has hers at night most of the time it stays in until she is almost ready to wake. I bought a Tommy Tippy one (cause that's all they had when I decided to buy one) and have found it doesn't come out easily (it's hard to get in too if she id crying doesn't open her mouth for it)... not sure why, maybe it's just Violet.
Congratulations Kayla for Nixee's one month birthday!! I really hope your Dr has some answers about your back. for a few weeks after my delivery I found my pelvic region and round ligaments were killers! I was going to call the midwives a few times to make sure it was normal. My sister told me it was normal, so I didn't worry about it.
Fi, how's that nipple going? Are you still using the shield? Sounds like Jenna is getting big!
Violet is doing really well *knock Knock* (that's me knocking on wood) she has slept through the pasted two nights!! Sunday night She slept with me cause i was way too tired to be bother fussing around her... she slept till 7:30. And last night she slept till 6:00 (her last feed was 9:30pm), mind you when you was stirring this morning she was minging away on her dummy trying to get something out of it... poor girl.
Got our trailer, and Emily looooves it!! But I now know how unfit I am!! I haven't been on the bike for a loooong time. The trailer isn't heavy to pull, it's just me :)
Tanya
](*,) ](*,) ](*,) wouldn't you know it. Tehya is actually having a decent sleep - the first day one in ages and bloody Noah is being a bugger and won't go down even though I know he is really tired. Doesn't help that so am I. Girls really just stop at one baby :)
I will have to see if I can remember what has been said because for some silly reason I have no review at all.
Tanya, what a good girl Violet is sleeping like that. Do you think she could have a word to Tehya and Noah for me.....Atleast you are getting ont a bike, there is no way I could do that atm. Good on you.
Fi, had to LOL at Jenna spewing in Shanes mouth. Always funny when it happens to somene else. Did you notice there was no poo in my last post?? Thats all my life seems to relove around lately. Sh**ty life I have hey :) My eldest brother takes a beer down to have with Daniel (my little brother) he sits there and has a drink with him. I hate that we have to do that. Life is so unfair.
Deb, I have always made sure that my kids remember Daniel, he died when he was 19 yo -10 years ago this October in a car accident. Joel had just turned 4 so it was really hard having to explain things to him. We talk to him and Brandon about death as unfortunately for us since Daniel we have lost so many others close to us. I think other than Daniels my gf's 3 month old was the hardest I've ever had to go through. It was also the hardest one to explain. Thats really sad that Neil never found out much about his Mum, it is so important to know about family and health issues too.
Fletch, I'm sure you were a wonderful baby. They say the good ones grow up to be horrors ;) Just kidding.
Sarah, you can't win can you. Great sleep if only hey... Now you have a dummy dependancy to deal with. All to soon he will be able to put it back in for himself. Thankfully Tehya spits hers out when she crashes and doesn't care for it while she's sleeping.
Better go Tehya is awake now. May as well give up on Noah having a sleep now too.
Take care
Trish
Trish - Gabby is the same. She will spit out the dummy and if she is really asleep, she doesn't sook for it. She doesn't have it at night because she falls asleep so well after the bottle. She only drank half her bottle last night and zonked it which was good. I always worry when she drinks the whole thing because 120mls of formula is a LOT on top of a BF not long before. Grrr @ Noah not wanting to go down for a nap! What do you think? I should leave a good 5 years between kids?? ;)
Tanya - I bet you are fitter than me girl! Good on you for getting out there on the bike. I should be doing that too. Sounds like Violet is sleeping really well. That's a fair effort!! Well done!
Fi - LOL @ Shane getting spew in his mouth. That must have been a crack up! Sorry to hear you had such a crappy night last night. Wind is the pits, hey? Great news about the nappies! Worth the money, hey?
