Hey Girls
Gemma has been pretty restless today and has probably only slept for a couple of hours tops.Maybe that means she'll sleep right through the night and not wake for a feed!?Yeh right! Gem has also started to suck her thumb! So cute but I am a little worried about her getting into that habit as I was a thumb sucker and it took me sooo long to break the habit.
Has anyone put there bubs in their big cots yet?I still have Gemma in her bassinette and am wanting to move her but am kinda aprehensive as she spits her dummy out at night and wakes looking for it so its handy to have her next to me.What has everyone else done/doing?
Take care..........
-
Kirsty I still have Sammy in the bassinette right next to my bed but I am thinking of moving him to his cot now too. Ive been putting him in his cot sometimes during the day to get him used to it and he loves the mobile on it so dont think the transition will be a prob..im just not prepared to have him sleeping all the way away in his room so am going to have to get DH to move the cot into our room. I just love him being close to me.

And the "massive baby" airplane crashes into the month old plus forum!
Forum Name: Divvy
State: Vic
Baby's DOB: 27th September 2005
Baby's Stats: Weight - 9lb 7oz (4280gms), Length - 51.5cm Head Circ - 37.5cm
Gender of Baby: Boy
Baby Name(s): Edward William John (Ned)
Baby's Website: like hello....
Health Concerns: nup
Notes: was attempting vbac, but after 8 days overdue and nothing happening, turned into a c/s...
Well it's good to see a few of you again, Tracey, Kirsty, Jo, Fletchie, Ellissa, Soph...
Soph, sorry to hear about your troubles with Lucie, don't forget YOU'RE A GREAT MUMMY and things WILL sort themselves out in time. We had awful trouble with Alex's feeding and weight gain, they do fix themselves in a few months. Woohoo on the 150ml/kg... I remember that!
Tracey, you're doing wonderful with the b/f, sounds like Indah is such a lovely baby, sleeping so well for you! I wish Ned could catch some of that!
Kirsty, the paed said to me that babies tend to "wake up" at about 6 weeks, they are a lot more alert and playful. Just talking to them can stimulate them, also putting them under a mobile or playing music...
Jo, can't believe Sammy is nearly 3 months already! Doesn't time fly!
Fletch, Zane is just so cute, nice to hear he's doing so well. Woohoo on the sleeping too!
Ellissa, I remember getting organised for our wedding, it's just SO exciting! And Makon will be wonderful and you'll find him just the right outfit... what date in November are you getting married?
Well, Ned is a huge baby, started out at 4280gms, discharge weight at 5 days was 4000gms, then at 14 days old was 4520gms, I'm dreading the MCHN appt this Friday (oops that's tomorrow) because I reckon he's hit 5kgs...
No wonder he's feeding two-three hourly during the day. He's just starting to go almost four hourly overnight... which is SO much better for me. I'd be stuffed without my wonderful mum, who has come over just about every weekday since I got home. She's been looking after the boys so I can have an afternoon nap (which I really really need).
Anyway, boy waking, wants more boobies (I'm also formula feeding at the alternate feeds because I just don't have the supply, I also HATE breastfeeding...)
:grouphug:
-
Yay Divvy - welcome!!!! Wow how big is Ned??? On MOnday Lucie weighed 4.6, so your 1 month old is waaaaay bigger than my 2 monther!
Kirsty - Lucie has been in her cot from day 1 too. We've put her in the lounge room. We did have her in her room with a baby monitor, but the darn thing picked up so much static it drove us nuts. So she'll be in the lounge (closer for us to hear) for a little while longer until I'm a bit more comfortable.
Jo - Not long until the weekend now! I actually liked the movie, a good no brainer!
Fletch - Been driving much today?
Will miss muffet has decided today is pretty much a no eating day. much to my annoyance. She's up to 230ml since midnight but is a bit all over the shop. Will try her again at 11.30/12. She seems happy enough and as long as she is hydrated, that's the main thing. I actually rang the pharmacy to order the lactose free formula, but I'm still not sure that that is the answer either. So then I rang and cancelled again! Will wait and see how she ends up going today and tomorrow I guess.

Hey girls
purely selfish post here as munchkin is happily drooling over my shoulder waiting for her bottle!!!!!!!!

Better go shes getting cranky with me!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Kirsty all I can say in very jealous tones is what a porker!

Hi everyone
Well Maria is 2 months old today and has been very unsettled. She has a cold, thus is all snuffy. I have been using baby fess, but the flem (yuk) seems to be going into her tommy. If she hasn't been feeding today she has been crying or wanting to be cuddled. I think she has an unpset tummy from the cold but not much is helping her pain. Anyone ideas?? DH has taken her to Eastgardens now so as to give me some me time. But of course now I feel incompentant that I can't cope with her when she is like this. Maria was premmie by almost 6 weeks so she has a corrected age of 2 weeks, it is hard to know whether her unsettledness is from her just not liking the sensation of filling the nappy/wind or is a growth spurt etc.
Sorry this is so long
-
Hello lovely ladies
Kirsty thats so great Gemma is doing so well...what a clever little sausage.
Welcome Divvy and Ned. I know exactly what you mean about big baby lol. My little darling was mistaken for a 6 month old today..i had to laugh.
Fletchie..no doubt you hooning around in your new car today..enjoy.
Soph hows gorgeous Lucie doing today?
Hello Elissa, Mel, Tracey, Mel...hope you are your lil bubbies are all well.
Ive had a gorgeous day today. Sammy and I had a date with a friend for coffee this morning and then we went shopping for Olivias birthday..shes turning 7 in a couple of weeks. Sammy was very accomodating..smiling at everyone and looking cute. Mind you the amount of old ladies that ive had come up to me while we were shopping and hold his little hand while he smiled at them was amazing...sociable little fellow. I think cos he was wearing big boy jeans and boots everyone wanted to comment and say how cute he looked....lol.
Well best go..we are going out for dinner tonight so need to organize all 4 chilluns before Darren gets home. Talk soon

Louise sorry to hear you are having a tough time of it with little Maria. Its hard when little ones are sick because you feel so helpless. I hope shes feeling better real soon and she starts feeding better for you.
Jo
-
Louise, Alex was five weeks prem and always had a tough time when he got sick. He was prone to chest infections and flu-ie type colds and things. I found that lots of baby Panadol and heaps of hugs were the only thing that helped. If I overfed him, he'd just chuck it up and that seemed to make the cold/flu/infection worse. Mind you, he had a huge growth spurt at about 6weeks, then again at 9 weeks, then again at 12 weeks, so it could be a growth spurt for Maria too. Just remember, you WILL get through the tough times, and make sure you have some time out just for you. Maria won't choke or get sick if you walk out for a five minute shower. Best wishes.
Jo, PMSL at Sammy being mistaken for a six month old. Our big boys eh!
Kirsty, you and Jo and I should make up a "porker" forum eh!
Shannon, "like hello..." means "like I'm so technophobic I wouldn't have a clue where to start..." I mean, we don't even have a digital camera over here, let alone the ability to download stuff onto internet... I've really got NO IDEA when it comes to this stuff!
Anyway, DH has Ned on the couch with a bottle whilst I have five minutes of me time before the boobies are AGAIN required.... I WANT SOME SLEEP... or at least six hours in a row... but I think it's gonna be some time before that happens in this house!
-
Divvy - Hope you managed to get some sleep last night.
Jo - Wow Sammy sounds soooo cute. And how do you cope with 4 kids????
Louise - I hope Maria is feeling better today and you can both get some rest.
Well Lucie had a particularly bad day yesterday feeding wise. Not sure if it was the heat or what, but of course I was stressed out again and had visions of emergency dept yet again. Managing to get a bit into her and she is hydrated (touch wood) which is the main thing. She took 90ml at 7am so that will keep her going until next feed at least. I'm off to see a chiropractor today - I'll try anything at the moment! And I've also ordered the neocate formula which is the lactose free stuff. It cost mega $$$ - like $80 a can without a script, but because we have one we get 8 cans for $28, ends up being cheaper than the other stuff! I am hoping something is going to work anyway, although apparently this formula tastes vile so that may be another battle! Ok off to get ready for chiro. I hope today is a better day.
-
Hey everyone!
Louise, its so awful when they are sick, I really hope Maria is feeling better.
Soph, good luck with the new formula, hope it does the trick. Bonus that it is cheaper too! Hopefully it wont taste too terrible for Lucie.
Jo, I think tiny little jeans are just the cutest things ever, I bet Sammy looked just adorable! Have fun birthday planning, Isaac is 7 today (my baby is so big, :smt022 ) and I just love doing the birthday thing.
Kirsty, you have such a big girl! Fabulous to hear you are both doing so well!
Divvy, hope the sleep situation is improving for you. Good luck!
Reilly had his 4 week check on Wednesday, and he is now over 4kg!!! (only by 35g, but still). To me he still seems so small, as Isaac was 9lb 4oz at birth, so Reilly still isnt even that big! Isaac is 7 today, which makes me kinda happy and sad at the same time. I told DH that I will have to start telling people he is adopted, because I dont feel old enough to have a 7 year old son, lol. The time just goes so fast, doesnt it?
Well, best be off, I have a roboraptor to wrap!
-
Hello ladies
Soph am so sorry to hear Lucie had a yucky day yesterday. Wow that is expensive formula isnt it..hope it helps the little darling. Goodluck with the chiro today too..ive know ladies that have sworn by them with their bubbies. I cope well with the kids. They are pretty fantastic really so they really dont cause me much trouble. :D Hope today is a better day for you.
Nix..happy birthday to darling Issac. They grow up so quickly dont they. I hope he has a lovely day. Yaay for Reilly being over 4 kg...lollol my darling boy was born bigger than that! Its great hes doing so well though :D
Div yes porka forum sounds good lol. Goodluck with the 6 hours sleep...one can remain optomistic.
Hello to everyone else..hope you are all having a lovely friday.
Jo

PMSL at Nixie's "adopted" son! Well done at 7yo! Woohoo on the weight gain, too!
Soph, I have Ned on S26LF which is a lactose free formula. It's about $18 a can, but tastes fine (as far as I can see). I had Alex on it too, as he's lactose intolerant, and he loved it. Best wishes with the new formula, and sorry to hear you had a yuck day.
Louise hope Maria is getting better for you.
Well Ned and I went to MCHN today. My porker is getting porkier! He now weighs 5365 gms, that's weight gain of 845 gms in two weeks. No wonder my boobies are sore! He also grew 2cm in head circ, and 2cm in length. Crikey bananas!
Maybe he'll slow down now so I can get some sleep!
-

Hope Isaac had a great birthday Nixie!Wow at him being 7!!!
Soph, I hope you and Lucie are having a great weekend.
How are you going Fletch and jo?How are your gorgeous bubs?
-
Oh Ellissa you poor thing. Hope you are feeling better soon.
Divvy - Wow what a growth spurt! Porky pie! I think Lucie takes the runt of the litter!
Kirsty - You managing to keep out of this heat? Do you have air con?
Jo - MMmmmm a bit sceptical about the chiro. Will wait and see.
Nix - Hope Isaac had a super birthday.
Well another horror day yesterday and last night, to the point that I actually showered ready for a trip to the emergency dept this morning. Then I managed to get 50ml into the mite. I tell ya I'm at my wits end with reflux and feeding issues. But a friend (who has been my guardian angel) is friends with someone who works at Riverton (a baby community hospital place) and recommended we try Karicare AR (yes another formula!) which is thickened, and also to try narrow neck bottles instead of Avent ones. To be honest, Lucie has never really got her little lips around the Avent teats properly anyway. So I dashed to the chemist and she took 100ml. Such a relief. So today we are doing more frequent smaller feeds. As long as she is hydrated then we can work on it at home. Sorry to bore you all with my feeding dramas. You all must be fed up hearing about it!
-
Soph don't apologise!Am I going to have to come to Brissie to slap some sense into you!Your not boring us. Thats what we're here for, support! Really glad to hear that you got some formula into her.Gem hasn't been feeding alot either this week.Last week she was polishing off each 120ml bottle, but now she downs anywhere from 40-70 ml and yesterday was particuarly bad cause its hot and she only took 40-60ml each feed then puked it all back up then fell asleep!ARHHHH!!!It really does your head in doesn't it!But what we have to remember is that they are gaining weight, and if they are doing wee's then they are hydrated, and thats all that matters.
It has been really hot here too.We have an airconditioner in our bedroom, but our house has ceiling fans in every room, although when its really hot it doesn't help.
Hope your day gets better today Soph.Maybe its the heat affecting our bubs eating?Take care.............
-
Oh thanks Kirsty, your post has made me feel so much better :D
You are right, the heat probably doesn't help. It's actually reassuring to hear that Gemma only has small feeds too, and I think she is a heap bigger than Lucie. You know, I think the whole bottle feeding really messes with your head, because I know that I get fixated on the number of mils that she eats, whereas I wouldn't have a clue how much she was taking if I was breastfeeding. Anyway, I'll weigh the munchkin on Monday and regardless, I'm going to ask the paed to write us a referral to Riverton, so at least we can do a day stay and someone can actually watch how she feeds. No one has ever done that before.
Have a great day Kirsty. And thanks again!
-
Soph, don't apologise. As Kirsty said that's what we are here for...
Maddison was on Karicare soy formula the entire time she was bottle fed & then happily & safely went on to cows milk.
I have bought a tin of S26, for topping Indah up @ night (well that was the plan so she'd sleep longer).
She will guzzle 180ml it seems the formula is making her windier & she wakes every 2 hours after the bottlle with pain like screaming... So not sure, but think it's not worth it! When she breast feeds she will sleep from 9pm til about 4am...
So will stick to that, but as I return to work Full Time in Jan, she will have to start taking formula late Dec, might have to try a few different ones also...
I get her weighed again on Wed & have our 6 wk appointment on Friday so will see how she's doing...
She is waking now, so gotta run, but Hi & Thanks to all that have asked about us... Other than the formula thingy all is really good here, got a busy w/end coming up...
Hey welcome Divvy!!!!
-
Good morning lovely ladies.
Fletch and Tracey - thank you so much!
Fletch - yay on giggles, how cute!!!!
Tracey - Yeah the formula thing is tricky. I have a huge pile of them if you want them to try! Actually I have some sachets of Karicare Gold if you want them? I say just give Indah the boobie juice while you can.
Well touch wood, the thick formula seems to be helping. Have also ditched the avent bottles and back on the narrow ones. lucie has really a really little mouth and I think she was just gulping way too much wind down the sides. Gotta get myself resorted now on the bottle front.
Will weigh Lucie again tomorrow, fingers crossed she's put on something, I'd be happy with 100g after a pretty bad week. Will let ya know....
-
Oh Fletch your MIL sounds like a twit!!!! Can't believe Zane is 3 months now. We'll miss you in here but see ya soon I guess!
-
Hi girls, Im finally getting in here to join this thread!
Tracey - I had Leah on S26 as a top up feed as the last feed of the night for about 2 weeks and in the second week she became constipated, I couldnt work out why at the time and she was really grizzly and uncomfortable and straining all the time, I used baby seppositories on her for 2 days and that did the trick (boy did it do the trick!!) but after that time and still not going herself we took her to the GP who said it would be the formula that was causing it and to half the mixture, so half of the recommended formula to the same amount of water. I ditched the idea of a formula feed last thing at night and just thought it better to BF her even if it is every few hours doing the night.
Fletch - I am so looking forward to those baby giggles - we are just getting a good run of smiles happening now - definately gets the tears welling up!
-
Hey everyone
Amanda-Yeh getting lots of smiles!Gemma recognises both Corey and myself now and the mornings are the best as she gets really excited when she sees us!!It just melts my heart!
Soph-Have you weighed Lucie?Hopefully shes packed on at least the 100gms you want.
Fletch-Your MIL does sound like an idiot Fletch.Yeh on graduating to the 3-6mth forum! We'll see you there soon!!!!!!!!
Tracey, Divvy, Ellissa, Nixie and Jo...........how are you and your gorgeous bubs going?
Well we moved Gemma into her cot which is in her room last night. Its just accross the hall from our room and yet I was nervous all afternoon and night about moving her in there! We have a baby monitor with a camera though and we hooked it up so it goes through our tv and then I can watch her all night!Didn't really get much sleep as I was nervously watching her all night! She slept really well though and only woke the once for a feed!It didn't bother her at all that she was in there, it was just me!Better go the muchkin has spat out her dummy............
-
Hi Amanda! Leah Ann is soooooo cute!
Well girls weigh in this morning and....160g! Actually it's a funny story. I put her on the scales and they said 4830g and I though 'Oh good 110g'. Then I was sitting in an info session on sickness in children and they were talking about weight gain, and I suddenly thought 'hang on, that's 210g not 110g because she weighed 4620g last week'. Anyway so I thought I was going mad (quite possible!) and weighed her again after the class and she was 4780g (with a big wet nappy) so I'll go with that. Talk about baby brain - and I'm an accountant!!!!!!!!!
-
Kirsty - Well done on putting Gemma in her own room and wow, what a baby monitor! You are high tech people!!!
Forgot to add that my aim is to become totally less stressed about this weight thing. Munchkin is obviously fine. Now it's time to really enjoy her.
-
Hello lovely ladies
Elissa honey hope you are recovering from your mastitis...its yucky yucky yucky..hopefully the antibiotics have kicked in now..so hoping you are all well.
Soph that is so great to hear little Lucie has put on so much weight..wtg Lucie..she will be joining us in the porka forum in no time....and sweetie you can let out your worries anytime..that what we all here for. :D
Fletchie i second Sophs twit statement...what can i say MILs!!! Geesh..anyone would think she hadnt smelt baby poo before. Dont stress...its not worth it.
Hello Amanda and Leah. Glad to hear your darling girl is doing well..well cept for the constipation but glad you are over that now.
Hi Kirsty..glad the move went well for Gemma. Clever little sausage isnt she and those smiles are just gorgeous.
Well we had a lovely weekend..went right down south yesterday and went up a lighthouse..kids thought it was pretty cool. We moved Sammy into his cot too though it didnt go so well. We brought it into our room but he was very unsettled and i ended up bringing the bassinette back in. Even still he didnt go down til 12. He was as tired as anything taking the girls to school this morning poor little bubby. I have yet to use our baby monitor..bugga..all these expensive little gadgets...lol. Will keep persevering though...i think he might be overstimulated in there with the mobile and aquatic musical thingie..cos he just starts talking to his bugs on his mobile...lol.
Well i have a tonne of washing to do so best get onto it while hes asleep.
Have a nice day ladies.
Jo
-
Jo - that is such a cute pic of Sammy. Hope you have a better night tonight with him in his room.
-
Thanks Soph... :D
Fletchie Sammy and I will be joining you on Wednesday..bye for now. :D
Jo
-
wow Kirsty that sure is one hi-tech baby monitor - im impressed! and I dont think I could stop watching the screen either.
Ive been putting Leah in her cot for her daytime naps to get her used to the room and she doesn't seem to mind at all - I think it would be me who will have the sleepless night when she is moved out of her bassinett for the first time.
Thank you Soph I think she is cute too :) Try not to stress about the weight thing - on the opposite end of the scale I have only had Leah weighed once since we left hospital (getting her weighed on thursday though) but she was next to a 5 month old on the weekend and Leah looked longer (it was hard to tell though in her harness) and definately chubbier - I think I may have to join that porker thread!! will know for sure on thursday.
Happy Halloween everyone!
-
hi girls
well my mastitis has gone!!! Makon is still having his growth spurt he slept 12 hours lastnight!! and is asleep again now! what a beautiful baby he is!
We went walking yesterday, mowed some of the lawn today(its ment to be bens job)it usually takes about 3 hours to do our lawns. but have been out trying to enjoy this glorious weather!!!
Kirsty it is a high tech monitor. ive seen the ones where there is a mat under the sheet that detects movement and breathing i thought that was good but i would prefer a camera one i think.
Soph yay at lucies wieght gain you must be really happy with it!
Fletch Mils can be terrible, i dont trust mine near makon and am always watching her.(i sound like the over protective mum but im going with my instincts)
Jo, i put makon in his cot during the day but he doesn't sleep long i think he might be over stimulated to!!
hope everyone else is enjoy your little precious bundles
