So not fair Kathryn!! After reading pages to catch up & nothing yet!! :) Spill the beans!!!
Hi girls!! We're back.... heaps to catch up on atm, but I thought I'd say hi & give a run down...The first night there Matilda slept through from 6.30pm-6am for the first time every ](*,) but then she decided that day sleeps weren't important, and we tried techniques from all the nurses & she still wouldn't sleep during the day. 20 minutes was the top sleep in the last 3 days. ](*,) ](*,) So they are happy because I went there for night sleeps, but I'm not happy because she gets so tired & cranky if she misses sleep, but I have spent hours of the last few days trying to settle her with no results...ah well...cheeky monkey...
Ambah I hope Aidyn feels better! & Happy Birthday late!! :D
-
Welcome back Christy
Christy.. I have to agree with you/them in some aspects. If she is awake all day ( i know it makes for a long bloody day ) but she sleeps all night which means you have a full nights sleep too, you will find you will start to handle her being up all day better.
Love
-
WB Christy!! Glad to hear that Matilda is at least sleeping through the night, though it must be tiring for you to have her running aroung allll day. Is it possible to put her in her cot for 45 mins or so just for quiet time, even if she wont sleep? Just with some teddies and books to look at and stuff... or is she likely to scream & cry?...
I have a new theory about what was wrong with Aidyn... I was reading in my baby book about rashes, cause last night he had come up with a mild rash on his tummy/back. and it mentioned Roseola virus. Its apparently very common (every kid would have had it before they are 2 the book reckons) and its not too much to worry about. But it states that the child will have high fevers for 2-3 days, and a couple days after that they will be feeling better but will develop a mild rash.... and this sounds EXACTLY like what has gone on with Aidyn! Except now I feel really guilty thinking it was the teething alone that was making him so cranky and giving him the temps - cause that is usually the case from his teething anyway...
And now I feel bad for taking him along on Tuesday when Felix and little Hannah were there... I hope Felix doesnt get it Katanya, I am so sorry if he does... :(
I dont know where Aidyn would have gotten it from, maybe the playroom at the gym. But I think it is going around, as 2 other peoples bubs that I know have had it recently too (but they havent had any contact with Aidyn)
Michelle - thanks for the info RE the leap frog pad. I was getting a bit worried about it today, wondering if it is really worth it, as Aidyn will be almost 20months at Christmas, and it says its only up to 36months. Which is still another whole year of use I know, but I just was worried he would grow out of it too quick and I should've gotten it for him at a younger age... But anyway, you have reassured me now, so thanks :)
What dates were you planning on coming up to Brissy??? (sorry I forgot!)
I am actually going to be going to Townsville from 3-10August to see my sister, so I hope its not during that time, cause I would love to meet you!
-
Thanks girls! Ambah I plan on still giving her a "rest" time in the morning because she does get tired and then really have a nap after lunch. So I plan on working her down to 1 nap a day and to get there give her the "rest" if she does sleep it will be a bonus, but I decided today not to stress about that :D
katanya I use homeopathic medicine to counter act the few immunisations that Matilda has had in the past and I think its been great.
I don't know if I mentioned before about taking Matilda out of day care? The GP was pretty insistent and actually phoned family day care herself... anyway within a day or two they had a placement for Matilda and I went and met the "day care mum" at her house and I have to admit, I'm in love LOL. There are 18mth old twins and a 3 year old there besides Matilda after school hours as her two children are older and in school. I love the ideas she has & the way the place has been set up. Matilda has her own room to nap in without distractions which is fantastic. She is studying sociology and phychology & has had a strong willed child who fights sleep of her own, so she understands Matilda really well already :) . I'm so excited to have a place for her & not have to worry so much about virus, less kids should equal less sickness (fingers crossed!!)

WElcome back Christy!!! sleep school seems to have at least acheived good night sleeps for you!! good luck withe the day sleeps..
AHHH Kathryn I know what it is you had a boob job!!! LOL..no I'm guessing a hair colour change!! love the new Avatar, you are certainly looking very sexy..looks like youve been shoppping already ;)
Ambah, I think Felix has the fever thing I have had a temprature teddy on him all day and it been back and forth from 37-39, amazingly he has not been that grumpy..we've been at the baby and parents expo all day..he actually feel asleep in his pram, something he NEVER does, so may be part of it..I am relieved actually now I read that because it menas it is not a reaction to the Fluvac..I thought it was weird as he didn't react before..
We had the best day at the parent baby expo I bought so much stuff I will do a separate post about it!
-
My my what a busy bunch of chatters! It must be Kathryn's secret that's stirring the pot :D
I braved the toy sale yesterday and managed to get all my child-related Christmas shopping done for half the price, which was fabulous.
The family day care ideas that you girls are floating around sound good. I've got Zeke's name on a waiting list for a C&K one up here at the coast for 2007 (since he can't go to prep until 2008 #-o ). I've got to go and check it out closer to his start date... but they employ mostly early childhood teachers and it sounds good on paper (for 2 days a week during school hours).
Anyway, hope you all have a great weekend, and I'm sure you. like me, will be checking back here tomorrow for the BIG announcement :D

My new avatar is up girls

Ooo ooo ooooooo I get to be the first to comment. Your new look is very curvaceous and lovely! And way to go Lachlan! Clever boy =D>
-
Heheheh thanks Misty. The new look clothes wise is going to reflect my upcoming new wardrobe, and of course my special little boy is self explanatory. ;)

Wow Christy, that Family Day Care place sounds excellent!! Just what you guys need!
Maybe I should start looking into something like that as I will need to be putting Aidyn in care for 2 days per week next year (if I get into my uni course). I have already rang the ABD childcare centre down the road, & they are sending out some forms... but family daycare sounds like a much better environment!
Oh Katanya, I feel SO bad to think that Felix might have caught something off Aidyn! :( It just honestly didn't click with me that it might be more than just his teething, otherwise I wouldnt have come along! Cause he usually gets fevers that bad when teething anyway...
Btw, I am sort of giving Aidyn my own diagnosis here, so I'm not 100% certain - however it definately fits the symptoms, and timing of the symptoms too... You will know its definately the same thing if Felix gets a mild rash on his tummy... though at that stage he should be feeling perfectly fine...
I feel sooo bad :(
Btw, what did you buy at the parent baby expo? Is this the one thats on this weekend?? I should really arrange to go with someone!
WOOHOO Kat!!! I Love the new look!!! and WTG Lachlan on the walking! =D>
-
Ambah please dont feel bad, that is life, he's actually handling it very well, I am glad that it is something like this and not a reaction..I did have to ring my friend who we spent the day with because if it is she may get it too..it's the risk we take exposing our babies to the world..PLEASE don't beat yourself up about it..it could have easily been reversed!
-
Did you mean your friend, or your friends baby? Cause I'm pretty sure an adult wouldnt be at risk of catching it, from what I read its just common in very young kids...
I really hope Felix is coping ok, and will be feeling much better tomorrow... for him!
-
Oh no my Friends baby, she is the same age as Felix, but she's had it before? I remember when she had it they said it was highly contagious.. I think I will take him to the dr today as it's been nearly 48 hours just in case it's something else..
-
We have been busy for the last few days. No new haircut from DH's cousin's little girl the only thing she did was try and give Alex chocolate cake and wake him up.
I went to the target toy sale yesterday and i spent way to many $$$$ i was so shocked when they told me how much i spent all i kept saying was OMG how much. Well that's it for my two now. I did buy educational toys for them both.
-
So yes.... little bubba is now Walking :D Still prefers crawling if he is in a hurry but his confidence is definitely increasing and. He also got on the ride along bike for the 1st time yesterday and within 2 hrs was cruising along on that like he had done it for months.
Anyway on his website, you will be able to see a short animation (just over 1mb) of him walking. Just click on his name in my signature and then when the page loads click the last link on the sidebar "Lachlan's 1st Steps"
I also changed my clothes in the avatar to relfect my upcoming new wardrobe.
Love
-
WTG Kathryn! I am assuming that you didn't really get that boob job LOL and that we can notice the bb's cos of the new outfits! How gorgeous is your little man, Jessica is starting to take off all over the place, so not walking everywhere but doing it alot.
Christy- I agree too on the day sleep situation, night sleeping is most important so you feel human, so if it's gotta be a rest then ....! Sounds like you have met your daycare lady from heaven, hope this helps Matilda stay healthier.
Katanya- hope Felix gets over whatever it is very quickly.
Ambah- I think Jemma will use the baby leap pad way past 3 yrs old. I am trying to book flights now, still didn't get it done yesterday. i am spewing cos I culd've booked them a month ago for $208 and I thought I'd do it later and now I can't get them that cheap. I am thinking of arriving Thurs 18th and flying home on Sunday the 21st. Will let you know for sure when the bookings are done! I am def looking forward to a meetup.
Hello to Mysifying and everybody else.
best wishes Michelle

Ambah just letting you know we went to the Drs and he has tonsilitis, so release yourself from the self imposed guilt..not even related..and not related to the fluvac..His temp was 39.5 at the drs..anyhow we are on antibiotics due to the fact it could go down..:( I hate antibiotics..
-
Oh no Katanya, I'm sorry that poor Felix has tonsillitis :( Geez, 39.5 is a really high temp! Poor baby... I hope atnibiotics do the trick and he is feeling heaps better really soon.
Kat - I love the short clip of Lachlan walking - he is doing it so well! =D>
-
Popping my head in to say congrats to Lachlan! What a clever boy for walking! \:D/
-
Thanks girls. He did a few short steps for the MIL & FIL last night even though he was really tired, so all the immediate family have now seen him walk.
He is now also riding his bike really well and has got the hang of turning around on it etc, so that has made Kameron really happy as he now has someone to scoot around with outside.
Katanya - :( @ Felix having tonsillitis.
Love
-
awww katanya I hope his tonsils get better quickly!! Matilda's had 3 turns of tonsilitis this year and everytime after 2 days of antibiotics she gets heaps better... I hope everything goes quickly for you *hugs*
Unfortunately our nights haven't been so well since we've been home, both nights so far have been interrupted with Matilda...the first night was 1 1/2 hours and last night was an hour, so at least its only once and shorter than before. We don't go in and she just starts chatting away for the entire time, gets grumpt kicks the wall but doesn't get too upset or distressed so we stay out & eventually she gets back to sleep. We went out to buy an oil heater for her room this morning thinking it may be because it gets cold only in the early early morning. [-o< hope tonight goes better, 1st day at family day care tomorrow!
Thats great Kathryn at Lachlan walking to the IL's! YAY! I love it when they do things for others to see...
-
Just got home from shopping, and Aidyn was looking very sleepy, so I popped him in the cot and he lay down straight away and went to sleep.
Now 10 mins later his is awake again and wants to get up! Argh! What's with that? I was just about to get stuck into my mountains of laundry (both clean AND dirty!) LOL
I hope the family day care goes well for Matilda tomorrow Christy.
I am ringing up our local one tomorrow and putting Aidyn on the waiting list for next year...
-
Ambah I hope he gets back to sleep! Does he resettle? Matilda will sometimes wake up after a quick settle & be up for 10-15 minutes and go back to sleep. Sometimes I go in and just pat her bum & she's gone.
HEY! I forgot to say another thing we accomplished at sleep school!! On the first sleep Matilda threw her dummy out the cot in protest & the nurse said to leave it there.... its still there now! LOL we never picked it back up! & she walked by it heaps, wasn't interested....Whew! I was worried about giving up the dummy but it was too easy.
-
I love the clip of Lachlan walking can't wait to see him next Saturday.
We have been busy cleaning the house today. DH has done most of it.
I gave Kimberley's room a good tidy up as it was such a mess as she would say.
-
That is interesting about the dummy thing Christy... Aidyn is ALWAYS throwing his dummy out of his cot, except we think he does it to get attention, cause he will cry and whinge and try to reach for it until we come in and give it back to him... and then he will throw it out again 5 minutes later! #-o He has actually been so much more attached to his dummy lately... I dont like it. We usually only give it to him at bedtime, or when we are going out for a long time and he has to sit in the pram. However now even when he is just playing at home he will walk into his bedroom and reach into his cot for it... cheeky boy!
He did end up going back to sleep, but not for another hour. I gave him a swing on his new swing (Kmart got the cheap $15 ones in again!) and then let him play in the backyard for a while, and then he was out like a light again. I even managed to get some laundry done as well as a short nap myself! :)
I was not too impressed with Aidyn's antics tonight (and lastnight!).... You see, lastnight when we put him to bed, he kept sticking his fingers down his throat and ended up making himself throw up a bit and it went on his Grobag. So I had to take it off him and wash it. And tonight, just when the darned thing was dry and cleaned... I put him to bed in it again, and 30 mins he has made himself puke on it again... YUCK! So now I have to wash it again, and he has to go without again tonight. Its times like this that I wish I had a spare. And I'm annoyed because I know he is going to get cold tonight as he always moves around so much in his cot and kicks his blankets off. So I have rugged him up in some extra layers to compensate.
-
Don't worry girls we had a bad nights sleep too..and short naps 8-[ Except Felix does have an excuse ATM..his temp has still ben up oer the weekend, and waking up crying..so antibiotics haven't kicked in yet properly..he screams like a banshee taking them and panadol..
Christy good luck with the family day care centre today..hope it works out well..
Ambah that is awful with the vomiting ..I haven't even got any advice. I guess it's something you can't easily ignore..maybe talk to a MCHN?
Michelle I have been attempting to clean the house and failing due to Felix being sick
gotrta go he's awake;)
-
I can now see that organising childcare for Aidyn next year is going to be a huge nightmare whilst studying part time.
This is because I dont know what days I will need to book him in for until I get my uni timetable... and then every semester when I start new subjects the timetable will change again, and for all my luck it will probably change to different days of the week so I will end up having to put myself back on the waiting lists again, and pray that I can get a spot quickly! and I am going to have to do this every 6 months!
God knows what I will do if I cant get him into care in time as well... I may have to contact friends of mine and offer to pay them to look after him. And the big problem with that is that they all live more than 1/2hr away from me, and I cant drive ](*,) (will be trying fo my licence soon though!)
anyway, I put Aidyn on the Family Day Care waiting list this morning, but fat lot of good that is going to do seeing as I wont know my timetable until Jan/Feb next year :(
-
Ambah- it is very hard in your situation with the childare, hope something works out for you.
Katanya- hope the antibiotics kick in soon, and poor Felix starts feeling better.
Christy- hope Matilda had a better night last night. But not going to her is the best thing, even if she is awake. And good on her for giving away the dummy!
HI to everyone else. i feel like I am always flying through, with not much time to gasbag!LOL, always something to do here I guess. Josh had a party for his school friends yesterday and the house that was spotless at 1.30pm was disgraceful by 2.30pm. But we played millions of games and the kids had a bawl. So I have spent all morning tidying and now I can hear Jessica crying. I have to go to the shop and buy some bread and pay some bills so I really should go and do it!
Have a good day eeryone.
-
Hi girls
Anothery fly by from me as well. Been to playgroup this morning and since being home (11am) I have cleaned the house cause of the mum was going to drop some clothes in that are too small for her. But she hasn't arrived yet.
Lachlan is refusing day naps as well now. I have tried to put him down twice today but he is still awake 10/15 mins later then starts crying to come out. Must think he is too good for naps now that he can walk and ride a bike. Too much to do hahahaha.
Anyway time for a cuppa. I am knackered after playgroup LOL.
Oh BTW go shopping for new wardrobe on Friday ;)
Love
-
Gawd Michelle, you must just a cleaning machine having 4 kids, I feel for you having your clean house destroyed in an hour, sound like the party when really well though! Well done!
Ambah, it's hard with not know what days you'll need, I have had a second stroke of genious I contacted the c&K kindy and I am going to book him there (starts in 2007) it is 9-2:30 and is community based, run by parents etc..it sounds more like what we want..I think I'll book him 3 days..
Also might check out the childcare (ABC at the bottom of the mountain) for a possible 1 day a week till then..just for a day that I can maybe do some work or have appointments..we'll see..
He is still feverish but not as bad, I think his throat hurts, I felt like this last weekend I hope it's not viral as the antibiotics wont do much..unfortunately his breathing has been labouring today, I am quite worried it's going to chest anyhow..fingers crossed he doesn't end up haing breathing problems and in hospital :( and how staying postive..
-
Have a great time on Friday Kathryn :)
Katanya - Hope little Felix will be ok.
-
OOh how exiting Kathryn (you must have posted while I wrote before) about your new wardrobe on Friday!
I think you are right about Lachlan being too excited to sleep, Felix was the same, it was like he just wanted to walk 24/7! Sounds like he has taken right off!
-
Well 1 hour later he has nodded off. But he wont be down for long as Andrew will be home in an hour, so that will get him up he can be dead to the world and as soon as Andrew is in, he is up.

Hi girls
Welcome Simone and Xander, have you been around Belly belly cos your name is familiar.
Kathyrn- great to have a shopping day set, have loads of fun and hope you pick up some great bargains. I must take the jeans I brought on m,y last shopping trip to get taken up or they'll never get worn. Bugger about the arvo sleeps, jemma thinks she doesn't need them too, but what happens now is if she has them too late then she doesn't go to sleep till about 10pm ,so I am not too worried about it, after all she is almost 2 and a half.
katanya- sounds like you have finally worked out what will suit you and Felix, that's great! I hope that he doesn't get the chest infection, fingers crossed you don't have to go to the hospital. As for me being a cleaning machine....I am trying to keep on top of it. It is hard cos somedays you just don't feel like it and you get behind, but there are more important things than cleaning. I am trying to enjoy my kids too, so I guess that means my idea of clean isn't display home clean iykwim. Although Arron thinks that's how it should be and we have had so many arguments about it. I wish I was part machine cos I could switch to clean and it would be done.LOL The house stayed cleaner when I worked full time cos nobody was here. It usually looks good until Jordan and Joshua come home from school and then it's trashed all over, I do try to make sure it's reasonable when we go to bed but as I am usually still folding washing and drying clothes at 10pm I inevitably run out of hrs to clean up, and I can guarentee that Arron won't lift a finger after the kids go to bed to help clean up, so I figure enough is enough.
Tonight I am going to my mum's for a scrapbooking night, and so looking forward to it cos I have done so little scrapbooking in the last 6 mths and I have 20 million photos and that's not an exaggeration either. I am thinking I could get about 6 pages done tonight LOL will let you know whether I was being ambitious and how I actually go tomorrow. I am eaving at 7.30pm and Arron will have to put the kids to bed all alone, so lets see how he likes that I know he will be pestering me to organise everything bf I go. He doesn't help me bf he goes out. That's men for you.
Anyway hope everybody has a nice evening
Best wishes Michelle
-
Forgot to say before that the C&K kindy starts at 3 (but maybe in the year they turn 3?) But yes Michell I feel =better about this one, I was going down to enroll him tonight but he was deeply asleep, so it will have to be in the morning!
Michelle I really feel for you with having to try to keep up a house to those standards, I think you HAVE to do it to your own standards and not worry about being a display home, I mean anyone would never expect a house with 4 children to look like that! It would just be inhuman! Why do you have children, to clean after them or to enjoy them, there has to be a balance of both..it is so wonderful you have your scrapbooking nights out and leave things to your DH! I was thinking of doing the same, but 1 child is easier than 1, I'm sure my Dp wouldn't help me either till I left ;)
Welcome Simone and Xander!! great name!
-
Welcome Simone, I look forward to getting to know you :)
Michelle - Woohoo on a scrapbooking night! Some time to yourself without the kids and DH is probably just what you need ;) Hope you get lots of nice pages finished!
Katanya - I hope Felix picks up really soon, and that the infection doesnt spread to his chest. I will keep everything crossed for you...
Kat - did your friend end up dropping off those clothes? How are they? Goodo for having a shopping date set as well, you will have so much fun!
Well Aidyn has had a few 'firsts' today. I was getting ready to go out to the park and was putting my own shoes on and I asked him
'Aidyn can you please bring your shoes here to Mummy so I can put them on you'
and he actually walked over picked them up and brought them over to me!! I guess it doesnt sound that huge, but it seemed important to me as this is the first time he has directly responded to one of my requests, and it shows that he understands me perfectly!
And then later on this evening he learnt to stack his peekablocks up in a tower. Normally when I show him how, he will just knock them all down down, but this time he actually paid attention and copied what I did.
My little boy's brain is growing so fast! =D>
-
YAY Aidyn at following Mummy's directions :D He is getting so big! Ambah with the dummy we just left it and she was working on self settling anyway, so the 30 minutes it took to settle down was probably going to happen whether or not we went in & put hte dummy back in, and in fact I'm positive it was a tactic she used to get us to come into her because we would hear it drop and ALWAYS run in to pop it back in #-o
I'm in love with Matilda's day care mum. :D This morning I went in early with her & sat & chatted with how Matilda's been going & what her routine has been etc etc and she took notes & showed me what we will be doing & played with Matilda, then I left & phoned twice 8-[ throughout the day & she was great. I picked Matilda up a bit early & she was the only child there today! So she got to bond with her "day care mum" today & slept an amazing 3 hours!!! Fantastic! She was really excited about getting to spend time alone with Matilda to get to know her. YAY! Whew...
katanya I have had Matilda on the C & K preschool & kindy waiting list in our area, I really like the community based programs :D I started her on the waiting list for the earlier programs because my best friend worked for C & K and told me to get in early, but I've since changed the place to preschool.... I hope Felix is okay!!!
Kat How exciting about the clothes & shopping!! You are being so brave, I find it really hard to "change" my style & what I am comfortable in.
Michelle I am amazed by how much you accomplish with 4 little ones, you are amazing!!!
I hope Kimberley enjoy's her clean room LOL!
Misty how are your little ones going? It must have been beautiful up the coast today.
-
Hi Girls
Finally have time to do personals YAY.
As predicted Lachlan only slept for 1 hour his eyes sprung open and he started crying as soon as he heard that car. Andrew also left his mobile phone on the kitchen counter, Lachlan saw it and spent the next hour crying for it ](*,) Andrew got his old one out of the car and that kept him amused for a while till he reailsed it didn't light up LMAO. He is too young for a $2 one from the shops.
Yes I got the clothes !! I went and picked them up as she didn't realise till later that her husband needed her car to get something done to it. So she rand me when he got home. There was a large garbage bag chockers full of stuff, all neatly folded in there. On first inspection there was only 5 things that I didn't like, a couple of brighe green *shudder* things and a bright orange top. She told me that there was 2 pair of jeans in there but they might be way to big.... well one pair I can just do up (just can't eat the day i wear them) and the other I can't even get close to doing up ROFL. I am sure she thinks I am smaller in the arse than what I actually am ;)
There was a gorgeous black (bit see thru) blouse and it fitted really well, but it was made of a funny material and made me feel itchy so I put that back in the bag as it was annoying me. So anyway, I scored a couple of nice blouses to wear out, jeans, jumpers and a few t-shirts and stretch pants.
Roll on Friday, cause she has great taste :D
Ambah Woohoo for Aidyn to finally understand what you are saying that is great !! He is a smart chickadee.
Christy It sounds like the lady you have found to look after Matilda is Wonderful. Woohoo @ 3hrs sleep as well. I hope it all works out well for you.
Michelle I hope you are enjoying your scrapbooking night. My house is never display home clean. The walls proudly display little handprints etc LOL. When I do clean up if I know someone is coming over it is tidy but looks lived in iywkim. the girl that is taking me shopping on friday has a house that looks like it should belong in a magazine right down to her built in wardrobe and daughters room. We call her Bree from Desperate Housewives LOL. I have quite often told her NOT to come to my place hahahaha. My clean would be her messy ;) I really do admire those people though that can keep a house looking spotless like that and she admits to being compulsive about it.
Katanya How is Felix feeling now?
Simone Welcome to our chatty little group, look forward to getting to know you more.

-
Ahh bugger
forgot to say.... Lachlan has a favourite nursery rhyme now. Twinkle Twinkle Little Star. He even does the hand actions tooo cute and if your not doing the hand actions he grabs your hand and puts it up in the air. A man at playgroup this morning was singing it to his son and Lachlan went to join in, and then the man changed songs, so poor Lachlan started crying and crawled away hehehehe.
I love this age.
