12 Months to 3 Years, March '05

HI everyone,
It is super quiet in here, I am not used to having someone tellinng something, I guess as our bubs get older we are heaps busier. Jemma is going well, she has excema everywhere though, and I bathed her in the QV flare up oil last night and creamed her right up, I am taking her to the Drs on Tuesday so I am hoping to get a referral to allergy testing, so I can make sure it is only soap that is causing her excema.

Not much going on with Lachlan at the moment. Going through a squealing stage which i am finding really frustrating. He is now on 100% cows milk just have to get him to start drinking from a cup next ;)

Hey girls,
Took Emily in for her last immunisation yesterday... it was her 2nd dose of Prevenar (pneumococcal). Have any of you upadted yet? Its one needle after they turn 18months, 2 between 12 and 18 months and 3 between birth an 12 months. She had no reaction which is good!! Phew

Aparently they are bringing in the chicken pox vaccine in November... Not sure if Em will be covered tho... fingers crossed! Even if she isn't I think I will get her done, there is no point getting one child done and not the other.

Well I don't ahve to worry about 3 kids for the chicken pox vaccine as they had it last year, lovely that was too, Joshua was the worst and also the worst patient. I guess I will have to get it for Jessica though.

Well I've spent the last week or so doing the rounds of the hospitals in brisbane (Prince Charles, Royal Children's) going to Zeke's 2 yr post-op check-ups. He had xrays, an ECG, ultrasound and general poking and prodding and after all that, I'm pleased to report he is still in the clear with cardio-vascular problems.

The specialists will keep checking him while he grows to make sure the repairs they did on his heart and aorta grow with him, as some of it is synthetic based.

But it's not much fun for a 2 year old, one hour in the car, one hour in the waiting room, 2 hours of tests etc, then back in the car to come home. He handled it well, no tanties or anything, and hasn't seemed to pick up any bugs from any of the waiting rooms.

Anyway, time to get them ready for bed (yippee! it's been a long one today)

That is great that everything is going okay with him Mistyfying, but yeah it definitely makes for a long day with the big car journey too. What a trooper though for not whinging about it.

Well I am slowly counting down the days. 2 weeks tomorrow till Lachlan's birthday party, next weekend will be flat out getting the house ready, well as much as you can with 2 kids on the go LOL. Then out for a few hours on the Sunday.

Lachlan is in bed asleep already, and Kameron will be headed in the same direction shortly. Was up till 10.30pm cause we went ten pin bowling, then he got up at 7am and hasn't had a nap (not that he has naps much anymore) We are at mums for the weekend too, so he has been running around chasing their dog all day. Their dog is struggling to stay awake LMAO

Hi everyone,
Well i'm having hell with Nick this week, he has started throwing things at me and Dp and when we tell him off, he smacks us (we don't smack him so i don't know where this has come from)
He is perfect when we take him out, but at home he is a horror.
I am still not able to drive after my c-section, so we have been stuck in the house, so i'm hoping that after my 6week check next week (when hopefully i can drive again) he will be fine again.

Yeah Naomi, maybe he is getting bored at home. Lets face it even we get bored at home ;) I found Kam was being a bit of a handful at home which is why I upped playgroup to twice a week, and he has calmed down again a bit now.

So bloody tired though, boys had me up @ 6.30am cause we are at mums for the weekend and they slept in the same room (first time ever). Have to kick start some life into me cause I have to leave at midday to go out lol.

Well my day started with a bang!
I was up at 5 with Ryan, Jay went to work at 5.30 and Nick decided to get up at 6!
Already this morning he has trashed my bedroom which i spent most of Friday cleaning up :evil:
He's woken Ryan twice and i'm just about to have a nervous breakdown.

don't you hate it when they go and wake up the babies !! Kameron does that sometimes and it drives me insane he knows he isn't allowed in there if the door is slightly closed.

well mum's dog just charged through the house and I think cleaned up lachlan on the way so now he is crying best be off ... again.

I haven't been able to get Rianna to drink milk anywhich way, cup bottle etc, have not long weaned her from boob juice and now she wil only drink water! Pediatrician said not to worry, coz she eats cheese n yogurt etc, and coz she eats so well will get all of her nutrients.
She has started to slap me in the face when I tell her no, so into the cot for some time out. I'm worried how she is going to react to the new one, the twins were 4 when she was born and were great with her, but she worries me, she already yells at them if they touch the shopping trolley, when she's sitting in it, and she tries to pull them off mine or DH's knees,when they are having cuddles, I hang on tight and tell them to ignore her, but she keeps going, and yelling too until they give up and get off. What am I going to do!!???

HI girls,

It seems like it's in the air, all these toddlers being buggers! Jemma is starting to think annoying Jessica all the time is a great game even when she gets in trouble for it.

The countdown has well and truly started kathryn, but it sounds like the party should go smoothly, I like the small party idea and isn't it at a park, I am seriously thinking of doing that for Jessica's first bday, rather than have everybody here, have to talk to Arron about it.

Mystifying, so glad the news for Zeke is all good, and woo hoo for him being so patient.

Vanita- sounds like fun for you, but I think you'll find Rhianna is picking up on different vibes and by the time the baby comes she may have settled down,. it's not like she has had total undivided attention, with twins above her, she's prob just trying to assert some authority at the moment.

Notes: Elijah was born at 39wks weighing 3.3 kg and 50cms long, now at 16months old he weighs about 11kg and is maybe 85cms tall these are rough as we all know what it is like to get a toddler to stand against a wall just for his mums enjoyment lol

These are my babies details I hope we can be added to this list as well, i probably wont be a very regular poster but I hope that doesnt matter too much. I am reading up and seeing some of your toddlers are being monkeys this week I will add Elijah to that list as well, I needed to give my self some time out this evening once DH came home after a tantrum match with Elijah, i still don't know what it was over as he wouldnt tell me but I ende dup just sitting us both down to eat dinner and DH came home as we finished to take him tot he park ARRRRRRR for the sanity.

Thank god he is happier now once returning and listening to some music!

Welcome Laura and Elijah, it doesn't matter how regualr you are, it is just good sometimes to chat with people who are doing what you are doing, and see that things are "normal" as well.

The dr said to use sorbolene with vite or aloe vera 4 times a day to clear jemmas excema, should take a week and then must keep her moisturised all the time, even add sorbolene to the bath but definetly no soap, and she shuld be fine by the time she's 5, that seems far away! I can add sigmacort when it is really bad, so we will see how we go.

try to get back later, going to the chiropractor to get my back done.

there are lots of things for kids with excema. My three all have it, and we only use qv or hamiltons wash in the bath.
we had a friend over today with their newborn, and Rianna just looked at it and said "OOK" when the baby cried she backed away and said "ma" but she didn't try touch it, or pull it off my lap, and I held it for an hour or so, so I guess it may not be as bad as I think, maybe they instinctively know to be gentle with those smaller than themselves!??

Vanita- I think they are gentle for awhile, and then they do what I saw Jemma doing today, she grabbed jessica by the foot, jessica was lying on her back on the floor, and dragged her across the carpet as she wasn't where she wanted her to be. There is 18 months between the two of them and it has been interesting to say the least. jemma loves hr so much but is starting to get a little impatient with her lately, she wants her to do more I think.

No more news from my camp, kids are in bed, Arron is sick and so he is dying and all I want is for Jemma to stay in bed and I will be happy. She has started not having her sleep, but sometimes Arron puts her to bed at 3pm and then she is up till 10.30pm. Which is not good for this mum as she needs lots of kid free time. Today no sleep but she has been out twice already.

I forgotten since the twins, is there an 18 mth growth spurt?? the last 2 nights she's been up at 3-4am wantiing a drink!? Has been sleeping through since 3 months, but not lately. Has just got over an ear infection, but DH and I are starting to get blood shot eyes! With me being pg and working am not coping too well!!! ](*,)

Jemma started this thing of waking at 3am and getting into my bed, I quickly realised that it would become a habit, and now when she comes in I take her straigjht back to her bed.

As much as I love her cuddles, not at 3am! And not bf Jessica wakes up for a feed, I need as much rest as possible. the other night was the first night I hadn't heard Jessica and instead Arron woke me up wandering around the house at 5am looking to see if there was someone in the house. I added up that due to babies/toddlers and preganancy I prob haven't had an unbroken sleep for about 3 yrs.

Nothing to report, all is normal here, except Arron has taken 2 kids to hios mum's and I am here with the 2 babies, on the net, when I should be doing other stuff, too bad!

My Dh gets really annoyed that I am on here instead of doing stuff, sometimes I just get caught up in what is happening on here and lose track of the time.

Yep Andrew is pretty adamant that there will not be any more babies in this house. I am open to the idea but have to respect his wishes as well. So yeah I am pretty sure we will be stopping at 2. I said to him just before "oh I will get to hold 4wk old Ryan on Sunday (Naomi's baby) and he said "good at least you get to hand him back" LMAO

Just waiting for Lachlan to wake up so we can go shopping and start getting stuff for his party next weekend like drinks etc etc etc. ](*,)

Oh well Kathryn, that's the thing about there being 2 parents, you both need to agree. Arron prob would have stopped at 2, but we talked about the 3rd, we were both 1 of 3 kids, and then when Jemma was 6 months I asked him to think seriously did we not want anymore and he crumbled, I didn't want to look back and regret not having the 4th. We both love kids but 4 is it for us, people keep saying we might as well have another, and I am permanently clucky, if money and time weren't considerations, I would have 12.

Car trips with crying kids are the pits, esp when they can't decide why they are crying. You are a stronger girl than I in respect to the photos, I can't resist and I always buy them all. And I need more walls LOL cos they will never fit on the ones we have. Better get Arron to extend again, gee he will be rapt with me.

i agree... it is hideous when they scream in the car.

My two are now at the stage where they can reach over and poke/touch/generally annoy each other. So if one's in a cranky mood, sometimes all it takes is a look from the other to set them off.

Having said that, most of the time they're troopers. We've just got home from a Good Friday church service where they had to arrive early to help set up (had all interactive Stations of the Cross stuff from The Passion) and sat through a service and waited for us to pack up (4 hrs all up). All that and Daddy forgot to feed them brekky (as I had to be there even earlier).

Lucky I had some skanky couple of days old hot cross buns in the nappy bag to hold off the hunger pains.

So I forgive them a couple of hissy fits in the car every now and then.

I swear you learn something new everyday. Hey did you guys know millipedes can be poisenous!!! Rianna ate 1/2 one tonight!! of course I called mum first and she said it was ok, but theres dad in the background saying they are poisonous, so did the right thing and rang the poisons line, and sure enough they can be!! They actually secrete an iodine solution, that can make you really sick.! obviously she didn't eat too much of it, coz she has been fine, but of course DH is at work, so I've had to watch her carefully whilst trying to get the big girls bathed and ready for school tommorrow!
Anyway lets hope she stays fine, and no chucking or anything dramatic hey!!

Wow Vanita- Who would have thought, hey! I would never have worried if 1 of mine ate a bug. Hope things are ok, probably no reaction by now is a good sign.

Well Easter has been flat out, Jemma ate so much choccy she had tummy pains last night, but being 2 means you can forget about that really quick and be ready for round 2 of choccy weekend pretty much straight away when yu wake up.

yes for only being 18 mths rianna has figured out pretty quick what those oval things in foil are!! Just like her daddy appears to be addicted to choc, can't wait til its all eaten up, and there's no more lyin around!!
I encourage family to buy other things, so they got an outfit from inlaws and pjs from my m&d, we gave them a toy and a charm, but they still seem to have eggs everywhere!!!
DH is always picking on me coz after a few days his will all be gone and it takes me nearly 12 mths to eat all mine ( i'm more a savoury girl!)

Sorry it's been a while since I posted in here.

I had a proud mama moment I want to share with you.

I was at a friends place the other night and we were in the loungeroom talking when all of a sudden Olivia who was playing with her little friend said, Eddie, I have to go to the toilet and do a poo! you stay here.

I went to check on her and was so excited because there she was all by herself on the toilet doing her poo!

This was a major moment as we have been toilet training on & off for a year.

Well done to Olivia, esp to stop what she was doing, that takes commitment.

Don't worry kathryn, sometimes they go backwarsds bf they make the big step forward. jemma had 2 accidents today as well, and just said Oh dear, sorry !. I have her in pants all day now and only night nappies.

Jemma has her finger checkup at the chn's hospital on Thurs and I plan to take both her and Jessica for photos on the way home. 6 mths and 2 yr old pics, trying to keep up with what I did with the others.

Well tonight I went and brought Pull Ups for Kameron which he will only wear of a night, but when I got home I told him that I had brought him special jocks and that cause he wears special jocks now that he must give all his nappies to Lachlan, which he quite happily did.

I am also going to start to sit Lachlan on the potty for 5 mins at a time at nappy changes, so i am hoping Kam will think "well Lachlan is doing it I better too"

He is going to be grumpy in the morning cause I can't goto playgroup. Our car has a small problem so I have to wait for mechanic to show which will be here sometime after 8.30am and playgroup starts at 9am, couldn't go yesterday either cause it was Easter Monday ](*,)

Ahh well time for bed :crossfingers: for a better day tomorrow

What a bummer Kathryn on playgroup. The potty idea sounds like a good one, it's hard as some kids need to go more often than others and once they get busy doing something then it is hard for them to stop and go to the toilet. Hope kam picks it up quickly, being toilet trained definetly does make things heaps easier and cheaper too, although pullups are a joke price wise aren't they!

Jemma has her finger check up tomorrow, so hopefully things have improved. I thought Arron mowing the lawns had started hayfever, but I am a little worried as he has had a terrible cold and I have the sneaky feeling that I am getting it.

I have a gf coming with her little bub on Friday so I hope I don't get sick.

Well he did poo his pants again today. Only once though but had to much stuff going on here that I didnt get a chance to put Lachlan on the potty. Kam likes his "special jocks" and yep they are a shocking price !! At least i only need 1 a day so a pack will last 2 wks.

Boys were great tonight though both in bed by 7pm WOOHOO. Now just have to get Lachlan to stop waking at 5.15am like he has done since daylight savings ended. (2hrs earlier than his normal wake up ](*,) )

Now that Jessica has said her first word, Dada! He likes to wake up saying it over and over again. But she hasn't really changed sleepinng patterns even with daylight saving ending. I am glad it is over, I was so tired cos of it.
