Woohoo Benjamin has slept through the last 2 nights...what a star!
Aw Benjamin just said Mum Mum for the first time, Matt was hold him and he leaned out to me and said Mum Mum!
BW - Yay for both your last 2 posts!! Congrats!
I did a huge post of Friday night and then lost it all when the page wouldn't load. So I got the s*&ts and went to bed...
Sarah - glad the wedding plans are going along ok. Will look at the pics when I have some more time (if you put in a link, I'll get there sooner ;) )
Liam update:
He's teething. We've got a teething necklace (made of amber) which I think we've conclusively proven WORKS. DH took it off him Thursday afternoon because he caught him chewing on it (he's not supposed to). We forgot to put it back on either Friday or Saturday and last night was HELL! I very generously offered to do all the night wakings all weekend to give DH a break. Reckon I was up 5 times on Friday night and after finally getting to bed around 1.30 am Sunday morning (DH was up with Liam) - I think I got up 4 times. But things got blurry... DH got up to him around 7.30 am and when he got him back to sleep around 8.30 - 9 am, we all slept until after 11.30!!
Needless to say Liam's worn the necklace all day so we'll see how tonight goes.. DH is back on night duty so I'm hoping he won't be too bad.
Liam's now pulling himself up on everything (playpen walls, lounge, us..) to a standing position. He even tries to climb..
He's still taking it slow on solids. I usually manage about 1/3 a small jar once a day. Apple and Mango is his favourite. I'm thinking of trying to give him spoon feeds first thing in the morning (as breakfast). Maybe weetbix? Would I mix it with just water or cows milk? He's not had cows milk yet (except in 'custard' stuff in jars...) so I'm not sure. What do y'all do?
We're flying to Qld on 26 December to see my Dad. Staying with him for 5 days so I've got my fingers crossed that it will go well. Apparently Liam will be uncomfortable flying (mostly on landing) because of the fluid in his ears and because we're not sure which muscles don't work in that area (because of the cleft) so the pressure may be quite bad. Glad we've got direct flights..
Will try to post again soon, but it's a hectic time at work and I'm not sure how much I can get on this week.
stay well...
Sorry haven't much time...
Been MIA as have had huge family issues to deal with... am almost at break point, needing a break from kids as well.
Greer has cut her first tooth and I am back to work 3 days a week now, so it's all full on.
Will try to get back later.
Hi Nettie
We give Benjamin Weetbix for breakfast with cows milk. We started on wb and water, just to make sure there was no wheat reaction, once we confirmed that was all good, we switched to milk on them. He has a whole one for brekky, then some toast or crumpet, or a piece of fruit or cheese or something.
With the flying, you could try giving him his dummy (and holding it for him obviously, if he can suck on it a little that should help with the pressure, or give him a bottle for take off and landing, as sucking and swallowing should help the ears "pop"
Hi all, been mia for a while, no excuse, just couldn't be bothered LOL
Oliver still has no teeth, and is constantly chewing on everything.
He has developed a sweet tooth party because when we have been out at lunch time places have refused to heat up his food (OH&S rules) so we have been forced to give him custard or jellies, so now at meal times, he cries with every mouthful of dinner/lunch because he is hungry but it isn't what he wants to eat, when he finishes his dinner/lunch I then give him a little custard for desert as a reward thing and as soon as he sees the tin he gets extremely excited, flaps his arms and savours every mouthful of food, it is really quite funny the noise he makes while he is chewing/swallowing his custard.
Oh well, he just has a sweet tooth like his dad!
He constantly wants to stand even though his legs get tired, and he pulls himself up without any assistance from us when he is sitting down and he grabs our hands, and he also looks like he wants to start climbing (god help me) so looks like I miss out on having a crawler, yet again.
Take care, will try and be more vigilant and get on here more often.
xoxo
Hi all
Ive been MIA too...partly CBF, and partly cause my world has expolded of late!
Mum had an accident and broke her leg, so Benjamin and I were in Geelong looking after her. Then we came back, and the next day DH ran out of fuel on his motorbike on the freeway, so we had an emergency dash out to fix that (he's been monitoring how many k's per tank he gets, and its been 300 constantly for 8 weeks...then he ran out at 260...go figure...
Then Tuesday night my sister finally came home from the UK...and of course we went to surpise her at the airport, but for the first time ever, Benjamin didn't do what I had hoped (which was go down to bed as usual t 6pm, and we'd wake him at 8:30 to go to the airport....nope....teeth got the better of him and he wouldn't settle).
So we trot off to the airport to meet the plane (due in at 9:40), which was delayed til 10:20....then, as the plane landed...the airport lost power (someone had cut through a major cable..as you do).
So not only were we in darkness...they couldn't process passports or put people through customs.
FINALLY at 12:25 Auntie Namm appeared through the cutoms doors (minus the luggage, which arrived 10pm wednesday night by courier).
And all the while, my little man was hanging about in his baby bjorn enjoying the world in general...lots of cuddles and tears (well, from my sis and me anyway, Bj was happy as Larry) later, we sat with mum (in her wheelchair), Dad and DH for a chat.
Then it was home to bed (we got home at 1am and Benjamin was asleep at 1:30, til 8am, then it was in the car and off to Geelong for the day with Auntie Namm (Deanne).
Today was meant to be a smooth one, big sleep in the morning, out to harvey norman to make a photo book for Auntie Namm for Christmas, then home for big arvo sleep, off to my old work for the Christmas picnic then home to bed....but NOOOOOOO.
We get to harvey norman and mu NEW usb stick was corrupt....come home, burn the pics to cd, back to HN, load the pics...get halfway through the book...machine crashed...start again...same thing happens...change machines and 3 hours later we leave Hardly Normal with the promise that the book will be ready before Deanne goes back in 3 weeks....
THEN it was off to the picnic...make an appearance, hand BJ round to everyone who wanted to cuddle him, then home for tea and bed...and now, he's sound asleep!
What a week so far, and its not even Christmas!!!!
Wow Baby Wrangler you life did explode didnt it.
Mine did too, but not in a good way. Had a massive all out agrument with one of DHs female friends ... dont think she and I will ever be in the same room again. That lead to meltdown and being dragged (not kicking and screaming by this stage) off for 36 hours. No kids no husband for 36 hours. Killer on the BF but so worth it. Have had another day of not being able to handle it a week later, so am beginning to think it is either sleep depravation or PND. Working on natural/alternative means of coping with it at this stage, but if it is still the same after Xmas then I'll start the meds for PND.
Greer has both bottom teeth now. Is happy in daycare, but not sleeping too good for me.
GTG wil try to comeback later.
Hiya Grubi,
I hope things improve soon...and woohooo on the teeth front!
I'd like to say I can sympathise, but at the moment (and believe me, I'm waiting for it to change) things are swimming along nicely here.
Benjamin is teething (all 4 top teeth look set to erupt any time now), and it a bit grumpy with it, but now, in the space of less than 24 hours has put himself to sleep without his "seat belt" on.
In the past he'd roll around in his cot for ages, get over tired, and not settle...the last 2 day sleeps (and at bedtime last night, and a re-settle after bonjella last night) he's put himself off to sleep.
We have a busy week coming up (as do most people) with Christmas etc, but its gonna be good.
I'm off to Bunnings tomorrow to buy Bj's sandpit, then come home and bake mountains of shortbread.
Hopefully Bj's teeth will appear before Christmas so he can enjoy the day!
Oooh - I love shortbread! Shall I give you my address? :)
Been having trouble getting Liam to sleep by myself (got myself in a real state on Friday night - partial meltdown  ) but tonight I did it! Yay! However, DH was home (wasn't Friday or Sat nite when I had all the trouble) so I'm wondering if Liam's getting separation anxiety from DH? We're gonna put me on sleep duty this week and see if we can't kick it in the butt.
I'm working until 5pm Christmas Eve, then we've got Chrissy day (luckily only locally - no travelling) and then Friday evening, we fly to Brisbane to see my Dad for 6 days (home New Years Day). So I'll be MIA a fair bit this week and next week...
Hope everyone has a ripper day (if you celebrate Christmas) and that all the bubbies are spoiled rotten :D
Hi all, am soooo bad at posting in this thread sometimes i forget lol!
Hope everyone is all organised for Chrissy and are excited if its your first chrissy as a mummy and daddy!
I am jealous of those of you have bubbas that are sleeping thru coop still wakes at least once but usually twice! and no teeth yet but think they are close, he is crawling everywhere and can sit up on his own and thinks he is so clever!
Wishing you all a merry christmas with your families, travel safe xxxx

Hi Everyone
Just wanted to pop in and wish you all a happy and safe festive season!
I hope all is well for everyone!!
Went to Dr yesterday and have been given Lexapro for PND :(
Really havig difficulty with the sleep. To think that we were doing so well with on only one wake at around 2.30am prior to teething.
Now I long for some magic sprinkles of sleep dust. I am battling to survive on 5 to 6 hours sleep and am struggling to get any naps in.:wall: Which is the main reason for the PND I think.
Just keep telling myself "This too shall pass"
How are you going with your happy pills Sharon?
Forgot to say Greer has decided to skip the crawl and is pulling herself up on furniture and walks if you hold her hands, obviously doesnt have the balance to walk yet.
Everytime we tried to put her on her tummy to crawl she pushed herself up to sitting so we gave up trying.
Hi Everyone!
Happy New Year.
I hope you've all had a wonderful holiday season.
Grubi:Sorry to hear everything's been so tough, Im sure the happy pills will help, and once you catch up on some sleep, have time to catch your breath, and get bak on track you can be off the happy pills and still be happy.
In our world, we finally popped out tooth number 3, have been hectic as all get out, but things are slowing down now.
My sister heads back to England on tuesday :( :( very sad....and she won't be back for Benjamin's first birthday, being in only 16 weeks (give or take), she won't be able to get time off, plus, her boss is having a baby in feb/mar and has 2 other kids already (Deanne is a nanny) so theres no way.
My mum's leg still has no plaster (which is kinda good cause she would have needed a full cast) cause of the swelling in her sprained ankle, but she's doing ok with it.
We are going down tomorrow for my Dad's birthday, and I'm taking mum and my sister shopping first...we are hiring mum one of those electric scooter type things that they have in shopping centres, we're gonna put Bj in the baby bjorn on her front and away we go...(Im secretly hoping I can have a turn of the scooter!).
Anyways, thats all from me!
Hello to everyone else!!!
Thanks Baby Wrangler. Dr said it is at least 6 months on the happy pills. Wish I lived in Qld then I could get the natural happy pills instead of the SSRIs. I know that the sleep is a major factor. I feel like I need to walk away for a week and let someone else take over looking after Greer, get her into a routine that I have failed to be able to achieve. I mean she is sleeping for 6 hours at a time. Just want longer. She isnt waking for feeds. Last night she went down at 9.45 up at 11.50 back down at 12.15 up at 1.27 and down by 1.40 then slept through until 7.15am. Now DH is asleep and with 2 I never seem to get that opportunity for a nap.
Im waiting for tooth number 3. We've been having watery poohs. Noticing that she sweats a lot too - might need to go to the Dr with her next week.
Hey everyone!
Our trip went great - Liam flies really well. No trouble at all! He even slept through the landing on the way there, and on the take-off when we left!
He loves the pool - and it made him very tired (a plus for us!). In fact, he slept a lot in Qld.. must be the weather!
I've uploaded a few new photos - including two which show his new haircut!
Hope you're all well and enjoying the festive season. I'm back to work on Monday :wall: *sigh*...
Hi All
Glad to read most people enjoyed the festive season, ours was busy but lots of fun, Cooper loved all the wrapping paper!
he is crawling everywhere and pulling himself to stand on anything he can and then attempting to walk around it (lots of crashes doing this!)
Sleep at night is just awful at the moment, he is waking every three hours so i have started night feeds again! Im sure it is due to teeth (still has none) but i am like a walking dead woman i go back to work in 3 weeks and i have no idea how i'll cope!
Grubi hope you have been getting some sleep hun i feel for you i know how hard it is, hope the happy pills are helping xxx
take care everyone xxx
