Hi Jacci I am here!! Yay on Charlie crawling, very clever!!

I have been MIA for a few days, Abbey had gastro last Saturday, Chris got it Monday and I got it Tuesday, so not a fun week for us. Thankfully it was a pretty mild case and we are all fine now. It is scary watching your baby sick like that though.

Theresa... Thanks for the chrissy email.. The girls looked so gorgeous. G is looking so grown up. I too think you are a fantstic mother and person to have coped with all that is going on. Off to have a read of your debriefs

Welcome back Sushee.. Good to here that Charlie is feeling better, how scary for you. Hope your trip was good before that though.

Abbey is good now, has been pulling herslef up on everything, somethings I don't know how, like a flat door??? But she has also been letting go and standing on her own occassionally for a few seconds and walking herslef around her playpen and the coffee table, she is growing up too fast :(
We are going to get Santa photos today, a bit late but oh well, and I still have chrissy shopping to do :( So I had better get to it.

But first I am going to go read back a bit more and catch up lol

I'm here too, but now officially on hols from my paid work til Jan 2nd - forced annual leave :( so working on new things for Jen's website - some massive learning to do on how internet cookies work

Oh, and those parts have finally come in - yippeeee. Off to go get them in a few moments... then to put it together (oh and gonna take a list of what parts I currently have, hoping that the instructions say what should be there, so can double check)

Nixon is not far off sitting i rekon another week or two he will have mastered it, will be great when he can sit and play with his toys a bit more.

nickers I found that when charlie could sit up it was so much easier he would amuse himself heaps more! hope nixon is sitting up by christmas!

Well i am trying to orgainse the christening at the moment - nearly everything done. Just getting charlie's pants taken up a bit - had to get a size 2 and there a bit long. normally everything is too short - at the moment he has some size 0 cargo pants that are meant to be full lentgh and they are like 3/4 pants on him! - atleast he can get some wear out of them in summer

talking charlie has started talking heaps! he says mum everytime i leave the room - but its not mumumumum - its just mum. and he wabes and says bye-bye.
How is all the other babies going for talking?

Yay Jacci on Charlie crawling, look out now, batten down the hatches hehe. Oh how cute Jacci. Holly still only says dadad & bububu but mostly the latter. Still trying to teach her to wave, think she might be just starting to get it. Errr on the poo play, hehe.

Theresa, I totally agree with the others, u r doin a fantastic job.

Oh dear Amanda that's no good, hope ur all feelin better now. Wow on Abbey getting around on her own, she is growin up fast huh. :)

Oh thnx Sush. Hope when u decide the time is right it works for u. Poor Charlie, hope he's feelin much better now. Crawling's not far off the rocking/belly flopping, yeah Holly used to get so excited when she rocked that she propelled herself forward flat on her tum, was kinda funny though, hehe. :)

Ok I'm stressin out a bit here, picked Holly up from day care (5:40pm) this arvy & she was stripped as had vomitted everywhere & has had a slight fever today & her roseola rash was still present, they said yesterday too that she wasn't herself, bit unsettled/unhappy. So rang GP & went straight there, she diagnosed her with roseola on Fri arvo, but it should've definitely cleared up by now. Symptoms now:
- red rash mainly chest, back, face, but only little bit on legs & bit on arms
- fever anywhere from 37.6 (childcare) to 38.6 (gp's) (was 39.8 Fri)
- grizzly
- ear pulling
- vomitted maybe 3 times in last few days which is so not her (since Heinz Nurture formula)
- nodes in back of neck (swollen glands)
She checked her ears again & she has another middle ear infection in her right ear, which could explain the fever The rash also could be an allergic reaction to the amoxil/penicillin she had for 10 days (finished Tue mornin). Possibly rubella, so sending us both of for blood tests first thing in the mornin. Even though I was immune b4 pregnancy, she said there have been cases where a mum will still get it & pass it onto their unborn child, a case in particular she mentioned was where a mum had a baby born blind & her GP hadn't done repeat blood tests to confirm she hadn't contracted it. Even though she's more inclined to believe it's just an allergic reaction this time (but not itchy), better to be safe than sorry. I sooooooo hope the test results come back before Sat arvo, otherwise I won't get an answer til Wed/Thu.

talking- hmm nothing yet despite me saying mummum, daddad, nannan ALL the time! He thinks its funny but never says it. In the last few days he has started blowing rasberries, thinks he is pretty good hehe!

waving bye is KINDA does it, he certainly knows the word and smile every time u say it but getting his hand action at the same time is pretty random at the moment.

sitting- 30min car drive home today he sat forward the whole time, instead of leaning his back against the seat he pushing up so was sitting upright so i think if its not by xmas very shortly after he will be able to sit

shell- i hope the blood tests come back for you tomorrow so you dont have to wait over xmas to find out. fingers crossed it it a alletgic reaction and nothing else, i think contracting rubella even after being immune in the begining would be pretty rare wouldnt it? i know they are obliged to tell you all these stories but sometimes they are just a one off freaky thing that is more likely NOT to occur, well i hope so. poor Holly i hope she gets better soon

Yikes Shell - hope everything isn't as bad as it could be and that it does clear up...

I'll also confirm once they sit up, life is that much easier, though Jordy still can't roll from front - to - back, so still gets stuck, though is moving backwards and is getting almost up on his knees, but much prefers just to be standing. He is certainly doing things the hard way !!

Jordy has a new one with his "flying" (no idea if I've mentioned it, so will do so again) - when I do the countdown, he sticks his index finger in his mouth and smiles so hugely waiting for me to get to one and for the take off to occur

And he's loving most of the new taste sensations - Jen is loving that he loves pasta (I hate it - more the feel than the actual taste). She loves it too, so is looking forward to being able to cook it for them both in the years to come


Which brings me to something else - how are you going with just plain water. Jordy hates it. He'll scull a bottle of formula but turns his nose up at plain water ???? And has anyone given toast or plain bread ?? She is very concerned about those two, her thoughts go back to what happened to Toby, my nephew, she is stuck on what to do




Now, onto these *&*&^ parts. I have the wrong set. Not really their fault... seems I paid for the cheaper model but was given the better one (I didn't say anything about this) - something didn't sit right when I was looking at the instructions/parts list earlier today compared to the parts I have - some are shaped differently - now I see why.

I tried putting it together with the wrong nuts&bolts set, as I've now sussed out how it comes together, but they are the wrong lengths and diameters for various pre-drilled holes. They have been called several times later this arvo - hoping I can have the right parts before lunch tomorrow... this swing has been such a disaster, though Jen can't wait for it to be assembled :S she is soooo happy to be getting it

Shell... Hope your tests come back good and that Holly is feeling better soon.. Try not to stress too much (as hard as that might be lol).

Abs.. Hope you get your swing sorted soon.. how frustrating

Food... Abbey is still on just fruit and veges, we are going to introduce meat sometime asfter xmas. She is still on puree/mashed food, but starting to get lumpier. No real finger food as yet, like you and jen abs, I am a bit worried about it.

We have got a tommee tippee fresh food feeder (you can google it) which is a mesh thing you can put whole foods into, and they can mush it up themselves withouty having to worry about them choking. Abbey loves it, and its good for tetthing too cause you can put frozen stuff in it.

Water... Abbey loves it, and has such fun drinking out of her sippy cup and is even starting to hold it herself. I don't know how to get Jordy to like it better, can you give him really watered down formula??

Talking.. Abbey is just saying mummummum and occassionally bubub. She laughs if we say dad or no lol she goes through phases of doing things then forgets them, like she was waving and clapping and blowing rasberries, but now is saying mumum and using her fingers to make noises with her lips IYKWIM i guess she gets excited by the new things and forgets the old lol

Hello everyone, I've just done a huge read to catch up on all the news and milestones - now come to posting and totally forgotten which bub's done what! It's been such a crazy time of the year and being back at work 2 days a week I just havent had a chance to catch up on the news.

Firstly, Amber's just perfect. In a nutshell - She's crawling, pulling herself up, saying muma/dada/buba, got 5 teeth, weighing 9.1kg and 70cm, on three solids meals a day and ummmmm sleeping like a trouper! I cant wait to spend our first Christmas with her, it's just got so much more meaning this year! She's been totally spoilt to the point I cant even remember all the presents we've bought her, I am at a loss as to where we're going to fit any of it!

Now, for the few personals I can remember:-
Shell: HUGE congratulations on expecting #2, it's absolutley fantastic news and I am so jealous. I hope Holly's doing better by now and fingers crossed the tests come back all clear.
Jacci: Congrats on Charlie crawling - it's no stopping them now!
Amanda: I use one of those Tommee Tippee Fresh Food Feeder's with Amber too, great inventions I reckon! (And Abbey looks so cute in your ticker picture)
Abs: We give Amber a crust every now and then, she gnaws away at it for about 5 minutes before loosing interest, dropping it and the dogs run away with it - you gotta be quick around here. As for water, I find that Amber will drink one sipper cup of it a day - but if I try to give her anymore than that she pretty much throws it back at me (either by way of vomit or flying sipper cup!) The 'flying' sounds very cute.
Nickers: Nixon sounds like he's doing so well! Aren't they just adorable how chuffed they are with themselves whilst blowing raspberries - if only they knew!
Theresa: Hope Emma and Georgie have recovered from their Gastro by now, poor little tackers.
Everyone else: Hope you're all going well and bubs are providing you with many hours of entertainment and sleep!!

And wishing you all a very Merry Christmas, enjoy every second with these gorgeous bundles because they are just growing up way to fast!!

Hi all.

Good to hear most everyone is doing well. Shell - hope Holly recovers very quickly and you get the blood tests results before christmas.

Water - Josiah will drink water from his bottle most of the time. Just persist with it abs. If he seems thirsty, especially in the heat, maybe give him some very watered down juice (very very watered down) - just to keep his fluids up. It's not a good habit to get him into, but better than him being dehydrated. Must say, its not something that I've had a problem with with my 2.

Well, my little man is crawling more every day. He pulled himself up to standing on the couch today - he was very pleased with himself! He waves bye too, but not quite a proper wave, he waves with his fingers with his hand turned in facing himself.

Awesome there Sooz - Amber is coming along reallly nicely.

Bel, by no means is he dehydrated. He loves his formula, gets a bit before he has food and the rest about 20 mins after, plus at least one or two other bottles during the day - especially the 4.30am one, though today it was 5.30 - Jen told me as I was getting outta bed to feed and back to bed... I didn't hear the back to bed part so we were playing when she staggered to where we were and said he should have been back in bed. This was about 6.45

At about 7.15 he was then tired and back to bed. Up at 8 and now going for his 2nd nap (10.30)

Water - Charlie loves his water. I guess it's one of those things. A kid either likes the taste or they don't. He takes it from a sippy cup and will hang on to it and sip from it whenever he wants.

Talking - Charlie can say Daddy quite clearly, but when prompted will only say Dadadadady. He thinks it's hilarious! He has done mumum for a while, but unlike 'Daddy' I don't think he associates 'mumum' with anything!

Waving - I have never taught Charlie that! I think it's coz I never leave him! But he can clap his hands though!

Crawling - Charlie is defiitely mobile despite not crawling properly. He's not far off, just like you said Shell, coz he's doing the Holly thing of rocking and flopping, rocking and flopping!

Sitting: Charlie has gone from sitting steadily with a little support to sitting completely on his own overnight. It happened after my last post. He now sits up and plays on his own, and has almost mastered the hands-and-knees-to-sitting manoeuvre. Once he gets that, it'll be easy-peasy!

Food - he's on mashed food, not pureed anymore. He doesn't like big lumps, though! He will feed himself a bikkie and toast too.

Shell, wanted to tell you that my DD caught rubella when she was 7 months old. My dr reckoned it's fairly mild and they usually recover without incident. It's measles you have to worry about. Hope she's well very soon for you.

SS - has anyone not received theirs? I haven't received mine yet..

hymm where'd my post go from about 2hrs ago... i tried to post it twice & it just kept hanging & upon cancelling twice & refreshing, I was positive I saw it. doh.

Thnx Sush, yeah it's not Holly I'm worried about, as u say its only mild, the only concern is to an unborn child. :)

An update...
Pathology said results will be ready by 4pm today, my GP said yesterday she'd be going on hols in the morning today so would pass on the file to the other GP who would be there until Sat am, then not again until Wed. I rang GP clinic, receptionist said the other GP is finishing at 1:15pm & I can't get my results until Sat, have asked if they can call me 1st thing in the morning, she said she can't promise anything but will ask the GP, as they normally don't give results out until after closing time, so 1 more day to wait, I don't understand WHY we can't get OUR OWN results, it really sucks...

Shell, d'er I'm sorry, of course that's what you're worried about! I blame sleep deprivation!

Hopefully your results come back with heaps of immunity! With be crossing my fingers for you. I can't believe how difficult they're making it for you to find out! Can't they understand the anxiety involved?

Dr's Surgery just rang, my GP got the results early & she told the receptionist to ring me (my level=63, and >40 = immune). GOT THE ALL CLEAR for both of us & I still have 'immunity', a high level at that. YAAAAYYYYAAYAYYA. I can stop thinking stupid thoughts now. :)

Abs - charlie has vegemite sandwiches for lunch - he really just sucks on them at the moment! - and the water thing charlie hated for ages - till i got one of those sippy cups that are really easy to drink out of and then he played with it for a whiole and now he will drink alot. good luck for the persisting!!
BTW - Charlie loves the pasta too - which is great coz gav and i love pasta!

shell - sensational news!!!

Amanda and sooz your girls seem to be going great.

my little boy has had a temp all day and has been grumpy and a bit of a spu - seems to be ok at the moment - gave him some panadol and that seems to have helped

Morning all.

Well, I am completely exhausted - and completely stupid. We had a few people around last night, actually my brother had a few people around last night, and I stayed up until 2am....of course Josiah got up at 6.15am, so I am wrecked & I have to do heaps of cooking today for christmas dinner with Marks family tomorrow night. DOH! I'm such an idiot for staying up so long! Anyway, enough of my whinging....

Shell, so glad to hear you got the all clear from the doc. It's such good news. How's Holly feeling now?

Food - Josiah eats anything and everything he can get his hands on. He LOVES finger food. Toast, fruit, chicken, biscuits, chips(courtesy of Janae). He has his meat & veg meals mashed, and I always have a bit of a giggle at what they say he's eaten at daycare coz I know they give him age-appropriate texture etc, but they make it sound so yummy.

Jacci - hope Charlie is feeling better, especially this close to christmas.

Theresa - I'm going to jump on the compliment bandwagon too - to have to look after 2 kids with the issues you've had with Em etc, you're superwoman!

abs - sorry bad wording on my part, I wasn't suggesting that Jordy was dehydrated, was just saying that if you're a bit concerned he's not getting enough fluids...did you manage to get the swing all sorted for Jen?

I'll probably be a bit scarce the next few days - so MERRY CHRISTMAS everyone. Enjoy your first christmas with your little ones, it only gets more exciting from here! Have a wonderful weekend.
