Kellie & Nickers - Charlie has only just started this routine in the last week. Before that he was all over the place. Hopefully both your little ones will settle down and sleep soon.
Nickers - does it take your little boy longer to form habits because he was early?
Jordy stats from today - it's been 12 days since his last measurements were taken, so they'll be listed here in 3's at Birth / 12 days ago / today
Weight: 3290 / 4640 / 5400
Length: 51 / 54 / 54.5cm
They were extremely happy with all results
Nickers, I don't like fish either, and don't notice a smell of the seaweed. Just gotta remember to not overload with rice, etc, otherwise you can't roll it closed... also need to roll really tightly, otherwise it collapses after being cut. The ones I made last night, I was pretty scarce with the rice (not quite enough for all 4 sheets), and they turned out perfectly... I remember the very first batch I made some time back, I put far too much rice on and couldn't roll it closed. I also leave about an inch of uncovered seaweed to help close it... No need to moisten it either
Hello all,
This thread is nice and full but hope there is room for one more! Willmartin is seven weeks old today (SHOCK!) so it's probably time I joined the virtual parents' group.
Mmmm ... sushi ... ABS you've inspired me. I think I'll pick up some ingredients when I go shopping.
Anna, I agree, you are a legend delivering your 9lb 12 oz baby without drugs. Mine was over 9lb too but born by caesarean and I think the first thing out of my mouth was "Oh my God, I would never have been able to get him out!"
Shell, that is great that Holly can roll. She's a quick study!
Sushee, the cloth nappies are great. I just joined in that thread and started reading everything. It's probably only a matter of time till I'm converted too.
Has anyone else got the Hugabub or similar babywrap? We've been using ours since hospital and Willmartin loves it. It had to go around the corner to the drycleaner for repairs (seam came undone and I don't have a sewing machine) so we've been without it for a few days. We miss it ... things just aren't the same in the pram and I think WM has come to anticipate some time "being worn" each day so he is restless when that doesn't happen.
Yesterday I ordered a spare wrap (this one from Bear Hug Baby) to have as backup in case we are without the Hugabub again at some point. God forbid! Hopefully it arrives sometime this week.
Time for a shower while someone sleeps. Talk later.
Mel
Hi Mel
Jen has had Jordy in the Hugabub heaps too - he really loves it. I haven't had a chance to put him in it on me yet though
And of course you are more than welcome, and have every right to be a fully fledged member of this group. And I see WM is another IVFr... that makes 4 of us (you, us, Sushee and KellyW) - anyone else ??
mel- :hello: welcome - i don't have a hug a bug but some one gave me one of those carry things (only way i know how to explain it. the other night i put charlie in it when he was a bit grumpy and he went straight to sleep it was great - i think i might have to invest in a hug a bug
abs that is great speed of growing.
well i am going back to work for 3 hours 1 day a week (starting today) i am teaching here at the local TAFE - personal tax to the kids doing Cert 4 in accounting
3 hours is not too bad to be away from charlie:crying:
Hello Everyone,
Olivia had her health centre appointment this morning. Her stats re as follows.
4309 grams
Head 37cm
Length 54.7 cm
She has grown so much....
They did however find a problem. Her left hip is clicking which can be a sign of hip dysplasia. We have been referred to a specialist for an ultrasound next week, at worst she will have to be in harness or plaster for up to 12 weeks. It upset me so much even to think that my little girl has to have an ultrasound. I should be grateful it can be corrected. So for the selfish post I just had to get it out.
Abs,
Jordan is certainly growing well. Before we know it we will be celebrating their 1st birthdays
Kelli- sorry to hear Olivia needs to have an ultra sound, It must have been upsetting for you but like you said atleast it can be corrected. AT WORST she would need to be in a harness for 12weeks, although that seems like a long time, 12 weeks is a pretty small portion of her life, to have her hips back to normal.
Let us know how she goes, will they tell you on the spot if they find anything or will they make you wait for results to come back to dr?
Sorry to hear that Kelli - Olivia is longer than Jordan, but a full kg lighter
I had news yesterday that I'm gonna be rather busy on Jordy's 1st Birthday... it'll be the Tuesday immediately before Easter (Easter Sunday is April 8 next year) - we have my sports national championships that week and continuing through the Easter weekend
I haven't judged at the Nationals in several years coz it's been up just NW of Brisbane, early January - the weather sux big time then for my taste. Next year, better weather, and will be just outside of Sydney - I'll have to take some time out on the day
PS you'll need to update your signature - mum to 3 girls now ;) :p
Oh, Jen's just been out shopping - got a new feeding pillow, one that doesn't cut her in half when doing it up, and also a "kindercot" - see the Babies Galore website, new releases, page 7. It's quite large. but folds up fairly small
Abs, yikes, sushi, yuk, hehe. Yeah I wonder how KellyW is going, baby Hayden was due to have his surgery today (or yesterday).
Abs, just an AIH'er here (IUI'er).
Sush, can't wait to c those christening pics.
KelliC & Nickers, hope ur bub's start sleeping longer so u can get some sleep.
KelliC, don't stress, u/sounds are safe. Holly's had 4 already, 2 for her clicky/loose hips (from being breach, mine were like that too but wasnt breach) & they matured just fine. More info in my 'milestones' in www. U/sounds at 3days, 4days, 4wks & 6wks old.
AMH, wow ur lil man is growin. U too Abs. Holly had her needles yesterday too, although wasnt that bad, only takes 30secs & a cuddle from mum & all over, much better than the 1.5hr blood test she had at 4wks, poor bubbies. They seem to forget pretty quick smart though huh. Did u hear about the Rovatix vaccination that's now avail by script, approx $100/dose, 2mth & 4mth oral doses (given at home), for rotor gastroenteritis immunity for life. The info only came out on Mon.
Mel, glad ur back & great to hear everything's going well with u both. I might have to join the cloth thread, have some minappies but they're still too big for Holly & haven't tried using the std ones. Well Holly has only done it once so far, but has come pretty close to doing it again a few times (from back to tummy), so guess it won't be long, also considering she's the oldest bub. :)
That's handy hours Jacci, hopefully ur Charlie's will sleep while ur gone. :)
BF success, stopped using the shield last Tue as Holly has stopped biting, just like the CHN said she would (with maturity), yay.
just thought id quickly let you know that Virgin and Qantas have cheap flights atm. But have to be booked by midnight tomorrow night and travel up until mid dec. Ive just booked my flights to go to Syd in 3 weeks to see the fam and friends and can't wait to show Nixon off to everyone!!
Nicers - I booked the tickets to go to Darwin in june - gav and me get there and back for $358 - bargain!!! I went on line just to check the prices and it was before they stated advertising on TV - we were very lucky - it is so cheap!!! I bet your family will love seeing Nixon. Is Sydney were your sister lives?
KelliC - I hope olivia's hips are ok.
Charlie is having an i need mum week. No one can settle him but me - they can try for 10 minutes and the minute they give him to me he stops crying - it really is a truly amazing feeling to know you are the only one he really wants.
Sushee - bring on the christening photo's!!!
just a quick note to tell u all i have put all the photo's on my web page now.
have fun
jac

Thanks
morning theresa.
how did georgie sleep last night? charlie had a weird one just wouldn't settle in his normal routine. georgie sure does have alot of hair+
Charlie has really light hair - people keep saying he has no hair - but its just really light so u can't see it. gav and i are both dark so we will have to wait and see.
bugger i seem to be coming down with the flu.
Jen had the cold for most of last week, neither Jordy or I got it
Bugger about that airline sale - we booked mum to come up for the day in 10 days time, not knowing a sale was about to be on :(
Abs - your mum would of had to bring someone with her coz it was a 2 for 1 deal.
How is your sister goinr at the moment, is she handling everything ok. I could only now that i have charlie imagine how hard it really would have been for her to loose her son.
I think they are still struggling Jacci, but time is helping. Still not certain about how she is with Jordan, being obviously different, but still similar in some ways to him. I think her husband is still more shook up than he lets on, given his brothers passing since months prior to that
Am sure I could have had someone come with mum - my other sister is hanging to get her hands on him too :p She has two girls. Funny, before Jordy came along, Kate & I have been fairly "distant", dunno why, just was... since he came along, we've spoken heaps more
I mentioned yesterday arvo about a Babies Galore KinderKot. Jen got one... tis quite roomy. Better than a portacot, well when younger anyway... a friend gave us a PAC, but only has the low floor, not the "insert"... soo too low for using yet. The KinderKot is good, plenty of airflow, soft floor, and a sleeping bag than can be folded in half for when they are their current size for like how we currently only have "18 inches or so of blanket" that bubs goes under
Especially if flying somewhere, this could be taken on the plane as hand luggage, and we'd be fairly happy to have Jordy sleeping in it
Abs- The kindercot sounds great! we dont do a lot of travellin but when we do I might look into getting one.
Nickers- Enjoy showin off your little man! He sure is a little cutie!
Kelli C- Thinking of you as you wait for Olivia's results. Really hope she doesnt need the cast.
Theresa- I really hope Georgie's medicine kicks in soon, must be a reflief to have the relflux finally diagnosed!I completley agree with you on the 'better when they're not moving' issue! LOL just think we'll both have 2 running around before we know it!
Shell- Thanks for the info on the latest vaccine! I think i might seriously look into this as we often have gastro going around town. Holly has such a heartmelting smile!:)
Sushee- Thanks again so much for your info! have you got any piccies for us to see yet??
Welcome Melbo and Willmartin, sounds like he was a big boy too! I still dont know how i managed to get Logan out?? just goes to show what a great job my midwife did in distracting me from the pain!?? LOL
Well weve had a bit of a mixed up routine here over the last few days too? After Logan had his needles he slept for 5hrs then another soild 11hrs straight after?? The CHN mentioned that it is common for them to do this but it was weird not having him wake for such a long time? Today he seems to be back into his old routine which is great and a lot kinder on my boobs!LOL. :p
This morning when I was giving Logan his bath I took off his little bandaids from where his needles went in and noticed that there big lumps there?:( I rang my Dr and she said to come in and get them checked out, luckily they are fine. But she said if the become red or more swollen to come straight back. Hope they settle down soon, although they dont seem to bothering him,Thankgoodness.
Take Care Everyone!
Hi all!
I'm coming clean, I haven't got Charlie's christening photos up yet! But I will do them soon I promise! Lol! I also managed to get pics of him laughing at Zaki yesterday so want to put those up too!
Kelli, I'm sorry to hear about Olivia needing a u/s. Charlie had one at four weeks and it was really quick and easy. I know as a mum you can't help but fret though. I hope it comes back okay.
Anna np about the nappy info. You and Mel will be welcome new recruits in the Cloth Nappy thread I'm sure!
Yay Mel on joining us in here!
As for us, paed appt yesterday, and Charlie got neither weighed nor measured! Just a check of his hips and his 'boy bits', was given the results of his renal u/s (normal) and was told he was really alert and happy, and is in great health. He also gave the Dr a big grin, which made the poor man go all clucky! Lol!
Then this morning, Charlie woke with a bloated belly, and at 9.30am, projectile vomited about a litre of curdled milk all over me. For the next two hours, all he did was scream and refuse the bb.
I called my mum in desperation and she came round and gave him a massage. Right after, he pooed twice, farted like a trooper, burped like an old man, and is now back to his usual self! Phew! Beautiful one day, perfect the next!
LOL sushee @ Charlie pooing, farting, burping like an old man!!
Nixon is upstairs asleep and i have the baby monitor downstairs with me, all i have been hearing for the last 5 mins are these huge farts coming from the monitor!! Think I'm going to have a lovely nappy to change when he wakes up!
hehe, i know all about the sounds - and the last two evenings at his 6 or 7pm feed, I have ended up being covered from chest to groin in projectile vomit... last night was when the lady next door came over to visit too
I don't think I've ever seen anything like it, even after many a saturday night with more than enough in my belly
Something I've been meaning to ask - those with the sound & movement monitor's - how often do you forget to turn the movement off... only to get halfway out the door of the room before it starts beeping!!!!
For a while there I was ready to throw it out the window, but we're both getting better at remembering to turn it "off"
We've also had the movement bit go off 2 or 3 times due to a bit too much blanket tucked under the mattress - I've never seen Jen move so fast
i have never mived the baby moniter - charlie's room is right next to mine if he is going to cry then i sure know about it!!!!
when charlie wakes up during the day - he wakes up hungry so he screams and screams so loud till he gets himswlf into a fit and then starts coughing. does any one elses baby cough when the cry?
well it 6.50 and i am up feeding charlie he woke at 2am and now - not too bad really but i am tired again - i wish this boy would learn to sleep in!!!!!!
hope everyone has a goo day. i have friends coming down from bendigo for the weekend - cant wait to show charlie off.
have a lovely weekend
jac and wueeeee.
Hi Guys,
WM is sleeping ATM so just grabbing the opportunity.
ABS - I think we have the same monitor and yes, I keep forgetting to turn it off too. It always happens around 3.00am (can't get my wits together on those night feeds).
Jacci - Charlie and WM seem to have a similar schedule at the moment. I mean, you love them more than anything but it's exhausting isn't it? DH took over last night and I went to bed at 7.00pm (slept till 5.00am). God, it was bliss. I feel much better today. Also with the coughing after crying, WM does that too. Must be a baby thing when they work themselves into a tizz.
Sush - Poor Charlie ... what a comprehensively gaseous exchange that was. No wonder he was upset. Good on your Mum though for shifting it all for him. It's funny sometimes what a change of hands can do =)
Theresa - yes I saw our little ones arrived on the same day. HOWZAT!! I'm sorry though that Georgie has reflux. It must be hard for you and her. Hopefully this early start on the meds will help.
Nickers, I picked up a cheap ticket to Queensland so am going there on 21 June to visit the family. I can't wait. You've gotta love cheap air travel.
Shell I had no idea there was a vac for rotovirus. Amazing! I'll have to see about it.
Kelli - hope the little one's u/s goes well but I can imagine how much you must hate having to have it done. Hope it isn't too difficult for her.
Got to go and get organised. ABS was it you who mentioned Chemist Warehouse? They are a bargain heaven ... I went there when I was still pg and stocked up on stuff. They have very cheap prices on everything including vitamins so I was pretty impressed.
Must go and get organised. Maybe I can get some stuff done while WM kips today. Hope everyone has a lovely weekend.
Cheers,
Mel
theresa - charlie has reflux - i remember when i first gave him formule he would throw up everywere. i was thinking to myself " how can that little 120ml's in the bottle end up all over the bassinette - looked like he'd spued up 2 litres...... i have him an the S26 anti reflux - he still throws up a bit but nowere near the projectile vomits he used to do. apparently charlie will grow out of it. his isn't as serious as georgies
Mel - i am going to get DH to take over for the night this weekend - but i am goig to go sleep in the unit out the back so as i don't hear charlie ry - if i hear him cry then i will get up.
Anywho - charlie and i are of to teach some people at the bus lines how to use MYOB
Theresa, oh no, good they diagnosed it early though. Hope she too doesnt have intollerances.
Anna, glad to hear the lumps are ok, that would have been scary.
Sush, hop that was just a 1 off, well except for the burping & farting, LOL.
Nickers, it is so funny when hearing them fart, LOL. Last wkend, Holly had a real doozy, every inch of the nappy was covered & a puddle still in the bottom & it overflowed over her singlet & jumpsuit, yuk.
Abs, not as often now, but alot b4. The alarm went off once for us, around 2am at 2.5wks of age, scared the crap out of us.
Jacci, hopefully b4 u know it Charlie will be sleeping longer. Holly went 4-5hrly last night. :) Have fun showing him off.
Mel, what a refreshing sleep, thats great.
Hi everyone, yep was me with Chemist Warehouse... After me being quite angry with them over some medication I need to live, the head pharmacist dropped it off at home last night - this stuff costs me $130/29 days... hopefully finally on the PBS in August
And when he did drop it off last night, he put a little pressie in there to make up for the mixup
re the monitor, I put a sign up on the wall - "TURN THE MONITOR ON/OFF AS NEEDED"
Who still has bubs in their room ?? We do, tis getting a bit squishy in our room with a full sized cot, and a feeding chair etc. I'd be happy to put him in his own room, but someone else in this relationship won't have a bar of it yet. Jac I see you have Charlie next door already
Shell, whilst its been a while, I know all about the overflow... and sometimes the nappy is quite wet too. We had a few days earlier this week where it was almost dripping wet quite regularly, but that has settled down now
We have our 2nd Parents Group meeting this arvo - starts at 2pm. Sleep and Settling is this arvo's subject - I'll probably be the only guy there
oh, a quick laugh... Jen was BF Jordy - he pulled his head back as she was squeezing to help the milk flow, and got him big time in the eye... she was cacking herself. He just blinked a couple of times and put went straight back to feeding
The monitor also has another benefit... The feeding etc is done in our bedroom which is upstairs, and I work downstairs in a corner of the lounge. She can talk in a lowish voice and I'll hear her quite easily - I gotta shout back for her to hear me though, but that's fine
Abs- Ive done a similar thing but shot myself in the face!! hahaha
Abs - I put Charlie in his room at the start of the week. Now that he is only waking up at 2am and 5 or 6 am i find it really helps with my sleep i don't wake up at all the little noises he makes in his sleep. Istarted by sleeping in his room during the day to get him used to the room. i nearly cried the first night though - it was sad not being able to wake up and look over and see this peaceful little boy sleeping.
I was changing charlie last night and he wee'd when i took the nappy off - and he pee'd all over his head - i was killing myself laughing aswell as feeling sorry for him!!!
Another Ivfer here to ABS :hello::
Hi Shazz!
Great to hear from you! How is Ryan going?? How are you coping with this freezing weather???
Logan slept through last night for the first time!! YAY!! am hoping it continues from now on!(cross fingers and toes) then I wont have to get up to these horrible cold mornings!
Hi Everyone,
Abbey is playing with dad so i have a few minutes to post.
Theresa... hope the meds kick in soon, and georgie feels better. It must be hard seeing her in pain.
Abs.. we still have abbey in our room, i'm not ready to let her go yet lol. Plus it's easier only keeping one room warm as its so cold here at night. We haven't ran out of room though cause we are only using a bassintte and i feed her in bed. Lol at jordy getting the milk in his eye. Last night i was feeding abbey, and it had been a while so bbs were very full, she pulled off and it sprayed all over her face, seriously like a shower head.. couldn't stop laughing and had to wipe her off before starting again.
Shell.. we have had a couple of overflowing nappies, luckily both times chris was changing her so i missed out. it is funny how loud they fart though lol
jaccie and mel... how nice for you both to have a night off, the sleep must have been great. i can't yet, as still bf, but went out today to get stuff for expressing so will see how that goes.
well we had abbeys mchn check up yesterday. she had put on over 200g in a week, so had a bit of a growth spurt. she weighed exactly 5kgs and the nurse was very happy with her. She kept smiling the whole time...show off lol. I have booked her appt to get her 2 month needles, a bit scared to take her but chris won't as he doesn't like needles for himself so would be useless seeing her get them. Having my check up the same day.
has everyone started dtd yet?? we ahven't but have done other stuff, i'm scared it will hurt as i had a third degree tear. guess i'll have to soon. what is everyone using for contraception? i got a prescription for the mini pill while in hospital but i am so useless at remembering that sort of thing (how i ended up here in the first place lol) so not sure what to use.
wow sorry for the long post
talk soon
Hi anna, Ryan going well still not sleeping very well but we are coping i'm finding he needs to be topped up with EBM of a night and we are going 4 hours on average now could you get Logan to to send the memo about sleeping through to my little man
you lucky thing you!!! it's getting rather chilly isn't more to come unfortunately catch up with you soon
just a quick hi, so flat out trying to get this mum stuff all under control so been awol. hope to get some time soon to catch up. no personals tonight, going to feed then sleep again!
bye,
well, another puke tonight :( all over his brand new "sleeping bag", and me of course - had to change tshirt / shorts / boxers - all wet with smelly puke
All three bedrooms upstairs get the same heating, so not worried about that
Had our 2nd parents group - we also covered feeding... pretty much everyone else that was there today (numbers were quite a bit down from last week :o ) is purely BF, so we were able to give a few hints etc about bottles etc. Sleepwise, we seem to be doing mostly okay with what we were told too
And amanda, yep, we have DTD just the once a few days ago... she said it hurt a little bit but was bearable. We'll wait a little before going there again
Amanda-Re: the contraception, I have been told that the minipill can sometimes dry up your milk supply?? not sure how true this is though?? We personlly use the rythym method. We have dtd and I found it quite painful :( but remebering from last time the only way it got better was to keep trying every couple of days? I dont think i had as serious a tear but Logan also got stuck(shoulder dystocia) coming out also and I still dont feel right down there, alot different from when I had Jasper...? sorry if this is TMI?
Abs- I had Logan in with us for about a month in a bassinette, but he outgrew it too fast, so we put him in his cot in his own room. And it hasnt been a problem although i was worried about not hearing him or Jasper for that fact but I wake up to both of them at the slightest sound. Joys of motherhood!:p
Shazz- Bummer about the sleeping. RYAN!! Im sending you lots of sleeping vibes!! be a good boy for your mummy! LOL Take Care Shazz.
Joy- Great to hear from you too! hope Caden is behaving for you also.hope to hear from you again soon.
Anna.. i didn't know that about the minipill.. will have to look into it. Abbey also had a shoulder dystocia and thats when i tore, was doing ok till then. I see we both had nice big babies. i guess i'll have to bite the bullet and give it a go... DP will be happy lol
Abs.. bummer on the spew, we have a couple of those sleeping bags too.. they are so good for abbey cause she doesn't like being wrapped but keeps kicking off all her blankets.
joy.. good to hear from you.. hope caden is doing great.
argh, can someone remind me what sleep is supposed to be like.... :( :(
Jacci, that would be funny & not, hehe.
Theresa, hope Georgie feels better soon.
Shazz, long time no see,
Awesome Anna, lets hope its a regular thing. Shazz hope Ryan joins the club soon.
Abs, it sure is a rack up when BB's squirt them, hehe, at least it has healing props so is good.
Amanda, i'm bout to use the mini pill, but when stop bleeding, I think AF is coming now. A friend setup an alarm on her mobile phone for lunchtime for her mini pill. Oooh, I hadn't heard that either Anna, hmm, if it does then I dont want to take it yet either. :)
Joy, hope 2 c u soon, when u have time.
KelliC, hope all goes well with the u/s this wk.
Holly has her next CHC checkup on Mon, so will see how much she's grown. She was 4.51kg dressed on Thur.
