Jordy has been putting himself to sleep for a while now - something Jen had to get me used to... I used to sit in the "feeding chair" in our bedroom til he fell asleep in my arms (sometimes, make that pretty often, I'd be snoring away too til Jen woke me), fortunately, we have a decent feeding pillow, called "the milkbar", so he's quite safe and sound with us both being asleep :p
Oh and he is in his cot already too... I'm thinking I just find it a bit big for our bedroom being where it is - ah well
And Jen loves lying reversed in bed (ie head down near the foot of the bed) just watching Jordy too. I've woken up with feet in my face a few times
Parents group - we have meeting #4 tomorrow, so looking forward to that, especially after missing last week.:o One of the girls mentioned having a Jack Johnson ??? CD (the name means nothing to me but others recognised it) and was gonna make a couple of copies for a few of us. THere was also another dad there last week, I only popped in to give our apologies (only 5min walk from the post office that I had to go to for some parcel pickups) - oh, including Jordy's birth certificate.
Apparently had been sitting there for a whole month, registered post. We never got the original pickup thingy... and of course it was bucketing down, and naturally the letter got rather wet. Fortunately the certificate is "okay"
Hmmm, sounds as if someone is waking - bugger... 2hrs early !!
morning all.
lovely day here in sunny portland.......not
abs - gav and charlie fall asleep together all the time. its theretime - so i just let it happen.
Hey all,
I got a great sleep last night! Charlie went down at 9.30pm and didn't wake until 5.30am! Then I fed him, burped him, changed his nappy, then we both slept in until 8.30am. And guess what? He's back asleep again, snoring away in his rocker, after his bath and a play. This is soooo not like him so I'm enjoying it while it lasts!
As for MG, I'm actually having a bit of trouble finding a local one. Am thinking of calling the CHN to see if she can point me in the right direction.
And thought I'd mention that Ariani was a lovely petite little bub too. Cute as a button, she was! She was in 0000s for a while too as I recall, about 3 months? She was only 6lb2oz at birth (40 weeks) but you wouldn't know it now to look at her!
Hi All!! (remember me!!!)
This is the first time I've seen these new threads (bit confusing at first but, great)..... I just wanted to drop in and see how my old Belly Buddies were doing....... There are some gorgeous pics on your signatures of your lil bundles....Hope all is well...
Well Luke is growing well, He's 14 weeks now and weighing about 6kg.... So far since birth he's had two ear infections and has been on antibiotics. He came good for a week in between infections.
He is sleeping from about 9pm thru to 5 or 6 am, depending on how cold it is in the morning. But, having annoying lil 20 minute naps thru out the day. He is realy clingy with me too, If i go out of his sight he cries and carries on....
He is finally smiling and now laughing which is wonderful....
I'm still breast feeding but, to my horror am not loosing weight as I did with DS#1. So I've been dieting for a lil while now and have lost 3kgs but, I'm finding the final 7kg really hard to budge. I've been doing aerobics on a video at home but, i'm just maintaining weight at 67kg. So today I went for an hour walk with the two boys in the pram and plan to do aerobics later on today, to see if that helps. Ideally now I've finished breeding I want to get my body back to pre babies if I can, which was 60kg....
Anyway thats about all that is happening at my end for now.... I hope you are all well and enjoying your babies....
Hello Everyone, sorry for the MIA,
I have been trying to keep up by atleast reading the posts.
Nickers,
the class sounds wonderful, I'm in Sth Morang which is not too far from you, can you please tell me where that mums and bubs aerobics class is? I have been going at night and hate leaving Olivia at home.
Kelli - hope everything is going great for you.
Jelli - HI there.!!!!! It is amazing to think luke is 14 weeks now.
good evening ladies - that includes u abs:p
hands up for all those people out there who are loving mother hood:hello:
I was sitting here playing with charlie today and thought there really is nothing else i need in life now. he is so much fun now he smiles and gooos and gaaaahs and even has a little laugh. and there is nothing better than when i'm feeding him and he looks straight up into your eyes....
any way just thought i'd share that.
I'll let u know how we go with the circumsition tommorow
jac & Charlie:eek:
Kelli- Its on at the Eltham Leisure centre. Every wednesday 11.15am.
i only found out after leaving the class that after its finished there is a 15min mingle/chat! I left straight after thinking the class was over and must have finished early!! everyone prob thinks i am un-socialble now.... oh well i know for next time, its not on for 2 weeks now cause of school hols so back on 5th July, let me know if you decide to ever go so we can meet each other! Not sure how much the class is as i bought a card whilst pg that was just for gym classes and am still using that.
Jacci- I can't wait to know what you mean about having charlie laughing and smiling at you all the time. Nixon did his first smile approx one week ago but still is only doing it very occaisonally. Saw the Paed today who said he should come along with his smiles heaps in the next fortnight, oh i hope so!!
Jacci - I totally agree. Amber is so entertaining, I just love her to pieces. I can just sit there and watch her sleep for hours!!
Abs - Amber sleeps in our room at night, only for my own convenience! Its easier to get up and tend to her or see why she's grizzling if she's right there! (and I dont get so cold running down the hall!!)
I've updated Amber's pics website too for anyone who's interested. We were lucky to get one of her smiling which just melts my heart!
Anyway, hope you all have a great weekend. We're gonna be busy, we've decided to move back to Perth (YAY!!!!!) so getting the house ready to go on the market.
Susan love the pics! Thats just a gorgeous shot that you got og Amber smiling! Her hair is quiet long already too isn't it! I am amazed how much nixon's hair has already grown.
Hi everyone (thanks for the inclusion Jac :p)
And a big hi to Kelli and Jellie
Nothing really to report here, other than that we weighed Jordy at the parents group yesterday - bang on 6kg. Am glad I've kept going, as a few have had hubby along just the once. Am getting a reasonable chat going with some of them which helps make em more at ease about feeding and not worrying about flashing boobs around with a guy there - guess it's a bit like my friends here, we've spoken about some reasonably personal feminine stuff over the last few months
Hope the procedure went okay for your boy today Jac, and that he is okay soon - what sort of time frame is the recovery ?? Hope you and gav are okay soon too, coz I guess he'll be a bit sooky for a while
Good luck with the move Susan, Perth will be a bit warmer than Tassie. Speaking of which, we got a lovely little jumper from friends in Launceston yesterday that he wore to parents group. Will put a pic of it up shortly
Tell ya what, I'm so glad I work from home - I couldn't imagine having to go into the office every day (or at least be away from home) and miss out on all the happenings that go on with our little ones growing and learning and doing things. It really is such an amazing time seeing these day by day changes. For many years I never ever thought I'd be a dad, now I don't want those days back for quids
hi everyone just a quick hello,
We had Logans baptism today and it all went well he was such a good little boy, and full of smiles! My Dad came up to do the ceremony(he is a Minister) which was really nice and he really enjoyed baptizing his 2nd grandson also!! Cant wait to get some piccies up of him in the gown he looked like such a little doll. He fell asleep after it all. It was sooo cold here today so we had him all rugged up in bonnets and booties and shawls that my mum had worn when she was baptized.
Hope you are all well will try and catch up with personals tomorrow.
Sush, excellent on the sleep.
Jellie, great to hear everything's going well with u.
Jacci, hope all went well today.
Sooz, yikes on havin to move with a bub, hope all goes well. Great pickies, oh & I love apricot, I don't have any apricot baby clothes. :)
Still no word from KellyW, oh I really hope the surgery went well.
Lisa, how u doin?
Anna, cant wait to c pickies.
Hi thee everyone.
Well little charlie went in yesterday and got a new doodle!!!
I think i cired more than him!!! - you wouldn't even know he has had it done. He has had no panadol or anything and he is perfectly fine - he even came back to me smiling. He slept most of the day yesterday withgav, then went to bed at his usual 8.30 woke at 4.30 and then back to sleep again after that feed - he is smiling away today. It is really yucky to look at- its red and sore looking (poor gav cringes everytime he sees it - like you would too ABS) i went and played netball while gav looked after him and i told gav to feed charlie whenever charlie wanted it - sometimes it can only be 2 1/2 hours between - but when i got home from netball he had gone 4 hours between feed. I think i was very stressed about nothing. I'm sure that if you went and got it done later in life it would hurt like hell - but as a baby he has just sort of forgotten about it.
Abs - the plastic bell falls of within 5 - 8 days. you should of seen gav cringe when they were explaining what they do.......hehehe.
Jordan sure is becoming a big boy - charlie is 5.7 kilos - he'll catch up with you soon - i think he has stacked on heaps of weight because he is on formula. Is jordan on formula or purely breastmilk?
Hi to every one else. Hope to hear from KellieW and Lisa soon and everything is alright with them.
Hi folks
That would have been nice for your dad to do that Anna - we might just have a bit of a party here, as both Jen & I are non-practising catholics, so would just be a whole farce really going through a baptism ceremony... Jen is godmother to a very good friends child and all but cringed at what she had to "promise"... I mean, if it came to be she'd do what was right etc etc, but....
Good to hear all is good Jacci... I read the other thread where the others said bubs were all fine after the procedure. Made me feel more at ease - I have no idea on how it's done, never looked into it, and think I might leave it that way based on your description of Gav's responses
And well Jordy does have a head start on Charlie - and both were about 2 weeks early right ?? But soon enough the difference will be negligible anyway - my how has this last nearly 11 weeks for us just flown. Oh, and he is on a mix of booby and formula. Jen does what she can, and we top up with formula
We had a friend who is 34weeks pg pop in today - Amanda is a fairly smallish lass, and boy is bubs showing. Makes the belly on the front page of here look like she's standing in the mirror - and still has 6 weeks to go. She also reckons Jordy looks just like me
Jen was saying she has no problem with that, but commented how a friends daughter looks just like him... with his partner nearly in tears about it - she is sooo upset about that
I've spent the majority of the last 2 days looking after my little boy, so Jen could get all her invoices and MYOB up-to-date given end of financial year is just around the corner... she had stuff outstanding from before Jordy was born. She's one happy girl now
Hope you all had a good weekend - catch ya during the week (still gotta do more pictures though)
Hi Theresa, great news on Georgie, looks as though Em hasn't changed much - we all wish for a change on that
A bit of news on the Jordy front... His left hand and right hand have finally met and become friends !! Was sooo cute watching him earlier today. Anyone else had this happen yet ?
Good Afternoon.
Charlie and i just got back from our walk - it was actually really warm out there.
Abs - charlie has found his hands too - he now grabs onto the jugle jym toys with full grasp and pulls on them! - he also just sits there with his hands together - looks very funny.
Theresa - hope everything works out for you soon - just have faith that it will get better!
glad the meds are working.
Well, I am just going to jump in here as I have had sooo much trouble getting to read threads since the new format. I am not going to try and catch up, but thought that since I have finally got into the thread I better chat. Rachel is 9 weeks yesterday. She is such a good baby. Sleeps from 11pm(last feed is 10pm, just takes an hour to feed) till 6.30am now and is feeding 4 hrly during the day, as of Saturday. She is my most settled baby yet. The others are adgusting well to it all, just takes us longer to get out of house with three under 3 half. Hope you are all doing well, I will now read some posts and hopefully get access to the threads more easily now.
I just remembered, someone was moving to Wodonga Vic around the same time bubs was to be born. Can someone tell me who it was. I would love to catch up with them.
Hey everyone!!!
I can't believe this is basically the first time I have been here since Lana was born. She turned 8 weeks old today. We had our 8 week appointment today. She is now 4959gms so doing well.
I am still breastfeeding...I'm a good cow lol. Ummm what else.
Sleeping I get up once in the night and she sleeps great during the day. She has slept through a few times but this is the exception rather than the rule.
Milestones Lana started rolling from front to back at 2 weeks. Shocked the hell out of the health sister when she did it lol. She is considered extremely advanced for her head control. Everyone thinks its great but I feel like I never got my 'little' baby.
I like to cuddle her when she's asleep so I can feel like I have a newborn.
Lana was born with an ear tag. We've decided not to have it removed as it will require an anesthetic which I think she's too little for, especially seeing it's only cosmetic.
She is also developing a strawberry mark on the top of her head. Its about the size of a cigarette burn so far.
But we are all well, now I am off to bed, but I will try to come back on tomorrow to catch up with all the goss. Hope everyone is well
Meagan
Hi Rose and GIMB - welcome back
Rose, that was Amanda_81 who moved down your way... she is on from time to time, so should see your message (hopefully)
Meagan - what is an "ear tag" ?? And wow on Lana being able to roll soo early
Well, bedtime here - I think Jordy is about to stir:p
Hi All,
Welcome Jellie, Rose and Megan ... don't worry about catching up. This is such a busy thread and it can be hard to keep up even if you log in every day. April was obviously a big month for babies!
ABS - YAY on Jordie discovering his hands. I can't wait for that to happen! Has he got a nice rattle or two to play with? As you are a non-practising Catholic, have you thought about having a naming ceremony? You can have "sponsors" instead of "godparents". I am still tossing up what to do on that front myself.
Anna - that's lovely that your Dad could do the baptism. Can't wait to see the photos.
Theresa - how are things today with the girls? Hope the run of good luck continues.
Megan - well done with the breastfeeding. It must be a real joy when it all comes together. I hope I can achieve that next time.
Updated pics of WM on my site now. He is smiling and cooing. I was teaching him his vowels yesterday (with exaggerated facial expressions) and he seemed very interested. I am enjoying it now because I have a feeling that in 15 years' time, he won't be so interested in anything that I'm saying. =)
Hope all April babies and parents are doing well.
Mel
Morning everyone
Meagan ~ Lana is just adorable Reading your post i was nodding away ryan also has great head control and has been rolling since he was 5 weeks old the health nurse here told me it was a fluke but i think she may be a tad wrong . i'm hearing you on feeling like you don't have a newborn, Ryan also has a few strawberry Birth marks a couple on the top of his head and a rather large one at the base of his neck
rolling over - i think i may be a bit behind!!! Charlie hasnt rolled over yet - he can however do like a mini push up and lift his whole chest off the ground whilst looking around at every one.
any who - were off on our walk. had a great sleep last night thru till 5am - well actually i had to put his dummy inhis mouth at 1 am but other than that he was good.
Poos- how many poos should a formula fed baby do????? since getting circumsised charlie has been avereaging 3 per day - before it was once a day - do you think it could just be his way of reacting to the trauma put on his body????
Jordy also has been doing the minipushup's - no r*e*a*l sign of rolling yet, though attempts to if on his tummy - nothing really if he's on his back
And poo-wise, he's only doing em once every 2-3 days !! certainly not every day. And Jen has pretty much done all those nappy changes lately. Including one she called the smelliest ever at 3.30am this morning... he finally crashed out at around 6pm last night and slept all the way to 3am (WOOHOOOOOO) - Jen got me up to change him whilst she got ready to feed.
Just a wet nappy, wipe him dry, fresh nappy, hand him back to Jen and back to bed I go
When I get up again at 6.30, there's a note on his change table that said something like
"Hi Daddy
you and I played a wicked joke on mummy last night. After you went back to bed, I did the smelliest poo ever that mummy had to change"
Ummm, maybe it could be the trauma ? see what happens in the next few days. Is he feeding properly ?
Aw Charlie doesn't roll over, he's not good at push-ups (just getting his head off the bed, but otherwise 'tummy time' is an excuse for him to lie flat and coo to himself), and he hasn't discovered his hands yet either! But I'm regularly getting 7 hours sleep a night now, and he smiles and laughs all day, so I'm a happy mummy!
And Mel Lol at WM not listening to you in 15 years time. As a mum to 14 and 16 year olds, I hear ya!
quick update - just had a call from Jen who is out and about doing a few things today
Jordy has just discovered he can suck his thumbs - literally both at the same time. We haven't been using a dummy... Jen was cacking herself - said it looked sooooo cute
Abs - yeah he is feeding fine - so i don't really know what is wrong with him - maybe he just has a little tummy bug. Geez your good getting up in the middle of the night - gav will get up on weekends - but i never get him up during the week coz he has to go to work in the morning.
Sushee - good work on the getting 7 hours sleep. I am always kissing charlie and gavin just looks at me and shakes his head - but itell him that i won't be able to do it in 15 years time!!! he wont want to know me!
Megan - I'm with ABS here - What is an Ear tag????
Has anyone gotten there Period yet? I have gotten mne and it is really really heavy - to the point were i'm starting to worry!! - Is it normal to have a really heavy period first one back after a baby ( sorry ABS!!!!)
Hi everyone
Rose... it was me that moved to wodonga. Have only been here 6 weeks now. would be great to catch up.
Jacci.. hope that charlie feels better soon. The only thing i think you need to worry about if it is diarreah (sp?) is keeping his fluids up so he doesn't get dehydrated. Abbey does that many poos most days but she is bf. I haven't gotten my period yet but i was reading somewhere that it is pretty normal for them to be heavier than usual. If you are concerned though it wouldn't hurt getting checked out.
Abs.. abbey has found her hands too.. its so cute. i'll often find her sucking away on her fists her her thumb. and how nice of you to get up in the middle of the night... chris doesn't even hear her and she is in the same room lol
rolling over...abbey has rolled over twice and we are waiting for more lol... she has really good neck control too.
well abbey had her needles today... she was really good but is a bit sooky now. she is laying on her rug atm telling her toys all about it lol its so cute.
WB to everyone!!
Amanda - maybe it is diareah (sp?) - god its just so hard to tell - why can't he talk and tell me what is wrong..
Hi everyone,
Sorry I have been MIA for a while!
Jacci - I had my period last week, it was really heavy and the blood was nearly black, it also last a lot longer than normal nearly 8 days (sorry again abs!!). As for poo Tyron can have 4 in one day and then sometimes he can go 2-3 days without any, I think it is just a cycle thing!!
Jellie - good to see you back, I can't believe your little man is 14 weeks old!!
We dont have any rolling over here either, but he has great head control, so we are behind aswell...
Still not have good sleeps, especially during the day, we are off to Ngala tomorrow which is a sleep type clinic, hopefully they can give me some tips on settling him!!
Well not much else to say for me, I am going back to work in 3 weeks, boy has that time gone quickly...
Okay well an ear tag is basically just a little piece of excess skin on her ear. Its a couple of mm's in length and a couple of mm's in width. They usually just tie them off, like docking a sheeps tail, but they said the base was too thick to do that. We're going to wait and if she wants it done at some stage then we'll go ahead.
I have a new photo in my ticker to show you her beautiful smile :)
Ta GIMB re the ear... and Lana is very cute there !!
The ear thing reminds me, Jordy has a little growth of hair on his right ear I think it is - will have to try to remember to take a piccie of it - tis pretty funny
And you girls know I'm not easily offended... as far as I know Jen hasn't had a period yet, but good to know what to expect when it arrives and she invariably gets worried about it - I can say "just like all the girls on Belly, it's normal" - so ta
Yucky for 3 weeks time Lisa, you poor thing. Even though Jen is struggling trying to run her business as much as usual, it is still going somehow, but she wouldn't trade the time with Jordy for anything
Jac & Amanda, you're both wrong - it's diarrhoea or diarrhea (depending on preferences) - and how good would it be if they could just tell us what was wrong. Ah well, Jen is getting pretty good at telling the different sounds - and is often correct, eg feeding / nappy changes etc
Qst??? - How long was every ones baby at there 8 week check up
Period - Lisa said hers was nearly black - my blood is bright red and seems to be heaps and heaps of it (more than i lost after i had charile) should i be worried that it is bright red?????
abs - Jordan has Vellas hair on his ear - babies are born with it on there ears - just above there bottom and on there faces. Most of it falls off fairly quickly, Jordan seems to have some left over - it would look cute!! there ears are soo cute anyway. I love there ears and there fingers - soooo cute
Theresa - Georgie is going to catch Em in weight in no time at all. Charlie is not a day time sleeper - he catnaps for about 20 minutes at a time. it doesn't bother me too much as he sleeps pretty good at night now. how do you plan to break the habbit??? I only ask coz i would have no idea at all on how to stop it.
Lisa - Hope the sleep clinic really helps you - your body would be needing a break! hope you are having a rest during the day when he does sleep.
3 weeks is not very far till u go back to work. i am dreading having to leave charlie and that is not till March 2007
Theresa,
I find that when Charlie sleeps well during the day - like yesterday when he had a four hour nap at my mum's - I don't get a good long sleep from him at night. When he does little 20 min catnaps during the day, I get a 7 - 8 hour straight sleep that night. Good to hear how well Georgie is doing though, the little trooper.
As for length at 8 weeks, Jacci, Charlie was 59cm at just over 7 weeks. And he too has hairy ears! Lol!
sorry Jac, can't remember how long he was - maybe 60cm ?? But that might have been closer to the 7week mark when we saw the Paed - the local clinic nurse was 8 days later (it was definitely at the Paed though)
Jordy had some big naps during the day yesterday and was up several times last night, so same here sushee
Better go take a piccie on that clump of hair :)
Hello everyone!
Olivia is sleeping in her capsule beside me as we just got back from a day of shopping, she wont be asleep long though as she also has 20 or 30 min cat naps during the day, she is generally happy when awake during the day though. At the Shopping centre she just stared up at the lights from her pram for 2 hours...
I'm sorry I have been MIA for a while but I'm just trying to settle into this motherhood thing all over again.
Olivia also has little bits of hair on the top of her ears, I told her Daddy it's the Italian coming out in her...lol
We changed from the bassinette to the cot last night as somehow everynight Olivia would manouevre her way up the bassinette and the cry because her head was stuck up against it, she seemed to sleep better in the cot.
Abs,
Same as Jordan here when she has big naps during the day Olivia keeps me up half the night.
Theresa,
Great to hear both Em and Georgie are having a good day, it will certainly make it a lot easier on their mummy, sounds like Georgie will be the Bigger Little Sister...LOL
Sushee,
the longest Olivia has slept for at night is 6 hours, her sleeps are slowly getting longer... How much better do we feel when we get a longer sleep...
Lisa,
I hope the sleep clinic works out for you, I know so many people who have used them successfully. I have my fingers crossed for you. 3 weeks until you go back to work, not too far away but as much as you will miss bubba a bit of me time is always nice.
I'm looking for some part time work at the moment. I hate not having the extra money.
Nickers,
Thanks for the information on the mums and bubs class. I will be at the 1st class back after the school holidays.
Hi to everyone else.
