Nickers - I feel your pain. Amber spews her guts up when I give her tummy time - do you know of any solutions?
sorry to hear about your nana and friend Bel - makes it hard doesn't it :(
Jordy is sleeping better... last night was interesting. He crashed out at 3.30 for what we thought was gonna be a usual 40min sleep (usual means you could set an alarm to the 40min time period). He still hadn't woken at 5.30 - checked with various friends "what would you do" - the opinions differed, so we left him. He did his usual 2am feed, then up again at 5.45 ! And has just gone back to bed again... he is sooo a bassett-smith, we're all sleep monsters :p
Hmm, re spewing when tummy time. Have you tried giving tummy time before you think she'll want a feed, hoping there's less liquid in tummy ?? Or doesn't the time matter
Oh, we finally got a high chair yesterday (or was it Monday?) We have a chair that clings to the dining table, but there is a reasonable gap between his chest and the table - far too much room for stuff to fall down. The table in the highchair is adjustable, so fits a lot snugger
The one at the dining table is good for sitting there with some larger toys etc and maybe when he is bigger, but the high chair is a better idea for now...
Anyone else have thoughts on this ??
Abs- yeah i like the seat that attaches to your dining seat but havent got one yet and was thinking for when he is a bit older. we will start with the high chair.
Spewing- well another way is to sit down and lean back on a 45 degree angle with bub on your chest which i have done but it doens really promote learning how to roll when they r on top of u!
i try not to do it directly after a feed anymore but dont really get the op to do it b4 a feed because he is usually sleeping and when he wakes up is when he wants to eat again!
hmmm maybe just for a few mins when he does wake up might try this......
Bel- so sorry to hear of the passings in your fam/friends. i hope you are feeling ok, very understandable why u have not been around here for a while.
I wont go into it but i heard some rather disturbing news about my 86yr old pop yesterday, he got himself into a pickle and has been a victim of fraud ($15K) we think he has dimensia and things have stepped up a notch, now my mum and uncle are going to see solicitors/police etc to try and get his money back (dont know if he will c it again though) so sad to c them go down this path, his wife, my nan is in a nursing home and has been for 4 yrs, it seems he is heading in the same direction whihc is just aweful to think.
anyway off to areobics i havent been for a few weeks. i need to loose 5-6kg in 7 weeks b4 a wedding, im sick of saying it and not doing anything about it enough is enough is flabby belly must part with me!
Hope Jen's back is better Abs.
Nickers, slobbering & putting everything in the mouth is just another developmental milestone the CHN look for. It doesn't necessarily mean they're getting teeth, that's another old wives tale. :)
(Nickers & Sooz) Holly used to spew when I put her down for tummy time, but not a huge amount. I just burp her 4 times during whole b/feed & keep her upright longer, but she doesn't spew very much now anyway. Also I found I'd have to change her b4 a feed coz she's spew when getting changed too. So when she got up, I'd change her & quick tummy time then feed. When she used to be grumpy when getting up, the change used to settle her down. :)
Yeah I've heard that one suggested too, so does Nixon like the on ur tummy tummy time?
Ouch, hope ur pop does get his money back.
Hehe, yeah know what u mean, I still have another 6kg to loose & a jelly belly & would love to loose it b4 starting work again in 5wks. Worst thing is no tap again tonight, that's 3wks off coz teacher went on hols & no-one fillin in, doh. :)
Oh Bel, sorry to hear bout 2 departures, that's very sad.
Well Holly goes for her 1st swimming lesson on Tue, well more water awareness at this age. Our fortnightly mum's group is all going, should be fun, hope the heated pool is heated enough.
thx for the reminder Shell... we have a floating seat that we can put jordy in (bought it ages ago) - was thinking of our outdoor spa. What do you do nappy wise with em?? is there like plastic pants you can put on em to stop anything getting in/out ??
let us know how it goes, sounds like fun
And Jen's back is doing heaps better when she remembers to do her stretching exercises 1st thing in the morning. She notices the difference in the evening if she doesn't do em in the morning :o (nice gentle-NOT-reminder to her to do em)
B4 Holly was born I bought a pair of Fluffies Smimnappies from Kmart for $10. They are washable/re-usable. I also have 3 rashies that were about $4ea on sale at target, but smallest is size 0, so will be bit big but that's ok. Gfriend says she uses pack of 12 for around the $13.00 mark of swimming nappies made by huggies at coles or wwrths, disposables. Put em on just b4 get in pool.
oh, so very quiet in here....
thanks for the thoughts friends, it's very kind of you. We're doing fine now, having our friends over from the UK really helped us take our mind off things.
nickers, sorry to hear about your pop, it's so upsetting when things like that happen, and so worrying when they live on their own and you don't think they can look after themselves as well as they used to. Hope things work out with getting his money back.
not sure about the table top highchairs - I think I'd be scared that they'd fall off. I mean, I know they're secure, but I think it would always be in the back of my mind. Not that I need to worry, we've still got Janae's highchair, which will get a work out in a couple of months.
I've been wanting to take both Josiah & Janae to swimming, but I'd have to do one at a time, or ask a friend to come and take over with one of them. I've been wanting to take Janae since she was small, but it was just too hard to fit in with work, the swim schedules were all during the day. Now I'm only working 2 days, it should be a bit easier.
Had Josiah's CHN check today. Didn't measure him, I'll get the doctor to do that on Friday, but he weighs 7.9kg. The nurse was very impressed with him, and gave me some good advice with Janae's eating too, so I'm feeling pretty happy with my kids this afternoon.
Anyway, little man is crying for a nappy change and Janae is telling him to be quiet so she can watch playschool - better go....
Bel
i want to start nixon swimming within the next month or so.
yeah with my pop i suppose it was a matteer of time really. you cant keep getting older and not be affected by age in anyway. but i just hate seeing how my nan now is and cannot imagine pop being the same. my nan has been in the home 4yrs now. no one thought shed b there this long, but she doesnt lead much of a life these days.
anyway we r heading away tomorrow just o/n. suppose to b great weather so might take nixon to the beach for the first time! (dont think there will b any swimming though!)
glad your appoint went well & nice of chn to help u with Janae at the same time Bel.
anyway nixon is being very sooky tonight, wont let me put him down so typing one handed and other arm getting sore. he also doesnt wanna be stationary so gotta get upo and do laps of the loungeroom!
Well i'm back at work today. Still having no luck with the sleeping part!
I am absolutely buggered! mum is coming to stay the night at my house tonight to get up to charlie so that i can get one full night sleep! feels like months since i have slept though -well to be truthfull it was about 5 months ago!!!!
Nickers sory to hear about your pop. I feel so sorry for older people when they get taken advantage off. Also - Charlie has the reflux too and he spue'd for about the first 10 times i put him on his stomach - he has half grown out of the reflux now ( which is great - not aso many clothes and bibs I am going through!!!) He will eventually grow out of it.
HighChair - I have one of those new high chairs that turn into a table and charies for when they are a bit older - they are really cool. Charlie loves sitting in it. He has been started on solids - he was a big boy who just needed more food!
Hope everyone else is great.
Jac
Hi all,
Sorry I've been MIA. Family issues, which now looked like they've been sorted out. My DD has left home :crying: , but on amicable terms :) and so I'm now a two child household, just Zaki and Charlie left (my DS Shay lives with his dad, my XH)
I've got heaps of catching up to do so will bbl to post some personals.
BTW Charlie rolled over from back to front yesterday (he's rolled over from front to back previously, but couldn't replicate it) He's got the knack of the back-to-front though coz he keeps doing it over and over, and thinks it's great fun!
Well I've finally found the time to stop and catch up on what's been going on in here. Looks to me like everyone is cruising, sorry to hear about the losses you've had Bel. Lovely to read about all the healthy and thriving babies!
I've made a promise to Caden that we will spend 2 days in a row at home this weekend. All we seem to do is go out and I think we are both getting a tad overtired for it. That said he is sleeping much better, had nothing to do with food, He is now in a sleeping bag with his arms only wrapped and his legs free. He is slowly working towards not being wrapped which I am also looking forward to.
He had his 4 month needles yesterday and today hasn't been much fun for either of us. He's asleep at the moment which is a first for the whole day. The doctor is really pleased with him. oops he's awake, gotta, go. will try and catch up later on.
bye
Good to hear from u again Joy & Sush. These bubba's do keep us busy huh.
Sush, WTG for Charlie. Holly's tryin her hardest to roll from back to front now, but just can't quite get there, instead she ends up doing 180 turns & ends up off her lil mat, so cute though.
Jacci, hope u can get more sleep & work isn't too bad. :)
Holly's checkup today (5mths) BW=5.44kg 12lb, L=61cm, HC=41.5cm (+190g, 240g, 180g for last 3wkly visits)
Hi All,
Abs- Happy 1st fathers day! hope you had a great day, and to al the other fathers too.
Dh had a good day with Nixon, took him to the shops to change a xbox game i gave him that was wrong! That was good i was able to do the shopping on my own which was much easier!
Theresa- oh must be exciting seeing Georgie trying to roll! I'm still waiting for Nixon too, no real signs he is getting close. He does like tummy time on my tummy but i cannot have him on me all the time so limited! so sorry to hear news on Em is not so good. is that tube have to be in all the time or can it come in and out just for feeds?
Who was it (thinking Jacci) that got their little boy a tuxedo for his christening?
I need to start looking for something for Nixon and have no idea where/what to look for!
HAPPY FATHERS DAY ABS!! Hope you had a fantastic day.
We had a nice day, dad came over for lunch and ended up staying the whole afternoon. It was really great to catch up with him. I don't see him so much now that Mark takes Josiah there on my work days.
nickers, it was Lisa that got the tux for Tyron.
Theresa, sorry to hear things aren't going so well with Em. hope she doesn't give too much trouble with the tube.
Josiah is doing really well, he had his shots on Friday and apart from a bit of dermatitis behind his ear, everything is going smoothly. We didn't even have any grumpiness after his needles (didn't even cry as the first one was done, and only for a few seconds with the 2nd)
His stats as of Friday are: W 8.04kg H 64.5cm HC 34cm
Anyway, it's getting late here, I'm off to bed. Speak soon
Bel
thanks Bel and Nic
we actually had lunch with Jens parents and brother on Saturday as she had to be at a trade expo all day yesterday - apparently it was VERY quiet, basically just the people on the stands and interstate attendees. But today its packed
I got a card from Jordy - he needs some spelling lessons, and a book "My Daddy is the best in ALL the world", and a Sudoku hand game thingy - cool, I love Sudoku
Spent the day yesterday doing jobs around the house - wiring up foxtel into Jordy's room, so we can watch it whilst feeding him, then do some grouting in both bathrooms, clear the gutters above the theatre room/garage (rest of the house is 2 stories up, so can't get there) + a few other things
Hi everyone
Hope you are all doing well and that all the bubs are too.
Well I became an Aunty on Saturday, DPs brother and his g/f had a baby girl late saturday night, after 4 days in labour  all are doing very well now and she is so cute, just wished we lived closer and could go see her.
Happy Fathers Day Abs and all the other dads out there...hope you all had fantastic days
We had Abbey weighed the other day she is 6.3kg so has only put on just over 900g in two months, MCHN wasn't too worried but said to keep an eye on it. Other than that was very impressed with how well she is doing and how strong she is..
She finally rolled completely from back to front the other day, it took her about 45 minutes of trying but she did it.. mind you about 2 minutes later she was back on her back lol
Abs.. sounds like you had a very productive day yesterday... i thought it was meant to be a day of rest lol, I love sudoku too!
Good to hear that all the bubs are well, sorry there are no more prsonals, abbey just woke up so i have to go play lol
Theresa, good luck with em and i hope she feels better soon...i hope that you get answers for all the problems very soon
Hi Ladies. Just wondering if you would mind if I joined the group. I've only come across this website today.
Forum Name: Mum21
State: Qld
Baby's DOB: April 25th (Anzac Day)
Baby's Stats: Weight - 3510g (7lbs 12oz) Length - 50cms Head Circ - 35cms
Gender of Baby: Male
Baby's Name: Declan James
Baby's Website: http://www.babiesonline.com/babies/h/halfpintbabyboy
Health Concerns: None that we know of thankfully
Hello Mum21 and welcome!!
Your boy looks very cute in his ticker! ive just went to check your website to but not sure the link is right it asked for a password?
So tell us how he has been going/how was the birth etc. Look forward to getting to know you, is he your first?
Opps so sorry.
My name is Amy. I'm 22 (tomorrow). Declan was born at 9.17pm April 25th. My labour was a rather quick one for a 1st timer, just over 5hrs. Went natural untill about 7pm then the contractions got too much so used the gas. 8pm came and it was time to push. Only problem was that when I stopped pushing he would go back up the birth canal. I ended up with an episiotomy and vac delivery.
He has been a very good baby, slept through from 3 weeks of age. I'm still breastfeeding and he is one happy and content boy. He learnt to roll almost 2 weeks ago and found his feet too, clever little munchkin. I am loving motherhood and looking forward to getting to know you all. If I've forgotten anything just ask.
well Amy,
Happy Birthday!! i hope u have a great day for your first birthday as a mummy!
thannks for sharing, sounds like a reasonably good labour, quick even better! was Declan due on Anzac day?!
whoo hoo for Declan rolling! my son has just started showing signs of "trying to roll" (as of yesterday!) he was 7 weeks early so haven't expected he would have b4 now (corrected he would be 3months) my son was born on Easter Monday
look forward to chatting moe, this website is sch a great support network.
Yep Declan was born on his due date. He was a good boy must have known I didn't want to go over. As it was he came out looking like he was overcooked, peeling. We found out we were very lucky to have a healthy and alive baby when he was born. I had no waters and he had done a number of poos inside (sorry TMI).
Happy birthday Amy and a big welcome. Yikes on the no waters bit
Don't worry about TMI - even the girls got over saying it to me (ie I'm a guy)... I've been along this journey with my partner, and along with all the other girls here... has been a great educational experience for me and for me to understand what Jen was going through
Well looks like Jordy is not that fussed about the booby for milk supply anymore. He simply will not drink from it anymore... He'll lie there, take a half a moment suck then let go and look around for a few seconds and repeats the process over and over. Jen isn't too happy about it, feels like she's letting him down.
He still isn't rolling either but should be too far off. As they say, each will do things when they are ready
And he is still crashing out around 5-6pm, waking at about 2 or 3, and then wakes again at 5.30-6. But we have his sleeping pattern during the day nailed now. 1.45-2hrs after he wakes, at the first sign of tired, we put him into his cot and he passes out no problemo. 40mins to the dot of sleep
Oh and his blonde hair is coming through thick and fast. I'm thinking "alright :D" - all his male cousins have very blonde hair
Hi everyone,
Sorry I have been MIA for a while, this working and being a mum thing is hard work!!
Happy Father's Day for Sunday Abs, I hope you had a lovely day.
Mum21, welcome and happy birthday, sounds like your little man is a very good boy, quick labour and lots of sleep!!
Bel, sorry to hear about your losses! We really must organise a Perth catch-up!!
Theresa - I hope they can fast track Em and get her better soon!
Well Tyron is doing great, he is still sleeping really well and is growing fast!
I have finally updated my website with some photos of the not so little man!
Well love to Jacci, KellyW, KelliC, Sushee, Amanda and all the other ladies I have forgotten!
oh lisa hi! i was going to ask u if u can email me nicole@newschool.com.au where u got Tyron's tuxedo from! getting Nixon christened in a few weeks and need to find something.
just checked your website, Gosh Tyron is such a cutie, vrey nice pics indeed!
Amy- yeah as abs said no TMI in here! we all experienced the not so pleasant parts of child birth, im glad Declan was healthy when he was born and came when he did
Nickers, I have snet you an email with the web address, the tuxedo is just so cute, I love it!!!
Thanks, I think Tyron is cute, but then he is mine so I am biased!!!
Hope all the daddy's had a great fathers day.
Theresa, hope those answers come soon, poor lil Em.
Welcome Amy & Happy B'day. Another Declan, cool. Lucky he came out on time for u.
Amanda, congrats. OMG 4 days, was that actual labour or is she counting from when contractions started? Some mum's get contractions for days b4 labour starts (Sush u did didn't u?). :) Although that wouldn't be very nice.
Great pics Lisa. Keep the pics comin ladies. :)
Hey Nickers, is childbirth ever actually pleasant? hehehehe
The pixifoto came thru on Fri, in time for Fathers Day, yay. Hoping to have pic on www shortly.
Well all the bubbies at swimming lessons went well, was only our mum's group there. Only a wimper or 2 towards the end, nothing major & all handled the dunk well. Waiting on some swimming lesson pics, 1 of the mum's brought their video camera & had teacher take 2 pics, but unfortunately half the group was already out of the pool.
I've just about finished my birth story (finally), so will submit it shortly.
Hi Amy and welcome!
yeh shell, I had contractions for ages before the births of both DS2 and Charlie. In fact with Charlie, I was found to be 4 cms dilated 4 days before he arrived, thanks to regular ouchy BHs.
BTW can't wait to see the pixifoto pics of lovely little Holly. Charlie just got some done through gotcha photographers, so waiting on those myself.
Theresa, poor little Em is having a really hard time of it. But good to hear that Georgie's lovely and settled.
Abs sorry to hear that Jen is feeling like she's let Jordy down, but babies really know what they want and make it known don't they? I think she's done really well, myself!
:hello: everyone else!
As for me, I have put a video on Charlie's site that shows him rolling over. Took me ages to catch him at it, but managed to with a little help and encouragement from DS2. I have figured out that the hardest part for him was working out a technique. Still hasn't worked one out for front-to-back!
Also last night was his first night in his own room. My CHN suggested moving him away from the late night noises of the TV and the lights of our room to see if we could encourage him to return to better sleep patterns (he's gone from 10-12 hour sleeps to 1-2 hour sleeps very recently)
And (I'm a little sad to say) it looks like it's working. He only got up twice last night, so it looks like the move is going to become permanent!:crying:
Just a quick hello to everyone, I have just got home from a week in hospital, I mentioned a few weeks back that I was having the left part of my thyroid removed, all good and making a great recovery, have all the dressings removed tomorrow and will be back to normal in a week.
I miss bellybelly and promise to be back on reguraly in the not too distant future, I do pop in now and then to read the threads so I remain updated.
Olivia is just beautiful and putting anything and everything in her mouth atm, we had her first professional pics done last week and they are absolutely gorgoeous(I am biased)..I will update her website very soon I promise!
Hello to Lisa, AManda, Susan, Abs, Jacci, Bel, Theresa, Sushee, Nickers, Joy, Shell and everyone else...
Love
KelliC & Olivia
xxxx
Oh who has the other Declan, I hadn't heard of it before we found it. We found the name in a baby book and loved it. We were trying to find something with the Irish background and it went so well with James (we already had the middle name picked out to family tradition)
Amy, I think it was Bec, cant remember as details not listed on page1, doh, I remember from April Belly Buddies threads (from when we were all preggas)
I keep tryin ur www Sush but keeps failin.
Holly's pic has been added to www & birth story added to BB. Will add swimming photo(s) when get them.
Shell...it was Becky who had a declan, she ended up having him at the end of march. Good to hear that swimming went well, we are going to start abbey doing lessons soon. How did she handle going under??
SIL had regular and pretty intense contractions around 5 minutes apart for most of the 4 days, her water broke the morning of the 4th day and she had her late that night.
KelliC..great to hear that you are recovering well, and that olivia is doing so well...i really want to get some professional pics of abbey done but can't wait to see olivias.
lisa... your ears must have been burning lol
welcome amy
hi to everyone else :hello:
HI everyone & welcome Amy. I'm sure you'll enjoy chatting in here as much as we all do - although it has been pretty quiet of late...
My little man was born on Anzac Day too! But at 4am.... Everyone says how lucky he is to always have his birthday on a public holiday, until my FIL came along (he's a teacher) and said that Josiah will hate it because he'll never get an extra day off school for his birthday :)
Kelli - good to hear you're recovering well from your op. Hope you're 100% very soon.
nickers - congrats on nixon trying to roll - you must be so proud!
Sush - I feel your pain re: Charlie sleeping in his own room. Josiah has spent the last 3 nights in his own room :( I didn't want to move him yet but he's outgrown his bassinet and kept waking himself up banging his hands on the sides.
abs - :( on Jordan not wanting booby anymore. I have a feeling Josiah is going that way too, although I'm trying to encourage him to stay focused! Unfortunately, as one of the other girls said, once the little rascals have made up their minds, that's it! Janae was 9 months old when she woke up one morning and absolutely refused to b/f.
Professional photos - I want to get some done, but Mark reckons that he spent so much on my camera ($1800) that he can take them himself & photoshop the backgrounds etc. Personally I think I'll be waiting forever and it will never get done!
Off to bed for me. Mark's going on school camp tomorrow until Friday, so I'm going to be on my own with the 2 kids for a couple of days...should be fun.
Hi to everyone else.
Bel
so what happens when bubs stops feeding ?? Jen says she feels like she wants to explode and plays with her boobie pistols in the shower trying to empty em (she'd probably kill me if she read that ;) )
Bel, I never remember having an"extra day off" school coz it was my birthday... mind you a number of us will be celebrating their birthdays during Easter every now and then. Must look up when Easter is in 2024 (18th) and 2027 (21st) - could work either way - makes have a great long weekend for a huge function :p Hope you survive with Mark away
We're waiting another couple of weeks for him to go to his own room... I will be away over the October long weekend (Sep 30-Oct 2) - probably only sleep away on the Saturday night. Maybe the following week as he turns 6 months old (now how has this time just flown by - it seems like only the other day we were all anxiously awaiting each others results) we will then put him into his own room - Jen will be beside herself with worry, I can see it now :o
Amanda, I don't envy your SIL. If she's having any more, hope they're it's alot quicker, yikes. :)
Holly wasn't too bad being dunked, however I only dunked her fully quickly once, the other times I just put her mouth under. She just had a look of shock on her face, hehe, so did the other bubs.
That's good news KelliC. Hope that recovery wk flies for u.
That's great Nickers, clever lil man.
Oh Sush, sad but good on the sleeping longer. D u have 1 of the video monitor screens in ur room so u can still see him?
Abs, oh lil Jordy is growin up. I'm thinkin of weaning Holly off over the next 1-2mths. I think from memory they say b/feeding in the first 4mths gives the greatest benefit, if u can & Jen's already managed that, so that's great. I've heard just to express a tiny bit just enough to stop them hurting, coz the more u express the more they produce.
Bel, I totally agree, I actually only paid $5 for our pixifoto to get a free 10x13" (also gave DH dark chocky). Was given the voucher whilst shopping at Kmart (part of Coles Myer, like Target) a few doors away from Target with a Pixifoto, apparently staff are walking around all the time giving the vouchers out to those with kids with them. There was no way I was paying $80 for anything else. We paid $900 for our camera. I've just been putting a black sheet on our bed or the lounge & putting Holly on it & takin pics. The B&W prof pics we had done were coz we got a gift cert from my work. :)
Hope they behave for u.
If u can see teeth under the gums when u lift bub's lip up/down, does that mean they'll be coming through soon?
Hmm Shell about Charlie's site not working. It seems to be okay from here. What are you getting? Just stopping dead? Can someone else try it please?
PS shell, I can't see any teeth at all in Charlie's mouth, so maybe it is!
Maybe the website was down for maint. Great pickies, just bout to view the video files but have to download flash player first.
Oh cool :) I was just thinking the puter gremlins were attacking again! Lol!
And I looove the new ticker pic of Miss Holly. She is such a little cutie!
i have been able to see Nixon's teeth through his gums for about 2 weeks now, so cute isnt it!
but not sure its a real sign they will come anytime soon.. its hard to know, he also dribbles and shoves his fist in his mouth but thats another thing they do anyway which could be miss interperated that teeth are on the way
Cool thnx Nickers. Was just wonderin, I can see quite a few top & bottom. :)
Sush, those video pics are just sooooo cute. I love the roll technique. Ditto on ur ticker pic.
Oh & the swimming pics are being emailed to me know, but looks like they are 2.8Mb in size so will have them uploaded on my www within the hour. Bloody dial-up, hehe.
Morning All
Back at work again today.
Charlie is going great. he is on solids now and he is a heavy little boy!!! He is getting a bit of the flu at the moment but nothing to bad. He'll get over it1
I can't see any teeth and he still isn't rolling over. My SIL's little boy is crawling already and he has just hit 7 months - EEEKKK
