Hi!
Danni - Thats fantastic!!! Well done!! It really does keep getting easier! (Even though of course they all still have their moments!)
Dylans been unsettled all morning and not wanting to sleep - I won't complain though...at least it's not at night!
-
Hi Girls,
Well I have had a pretty good weekend so far... hope not to jinx myself!!! Friday night I went out with a girlfriend of mine who is 7 months pregnant. I left Olivia with Adam and she left her 15 month old twins with her dp, who looked after the kids together and managed not to damage them. We went out for dinner then shopping for 3 hours. It was fantastic. Then Olivia decided she would sleep a whole 4 and a half hours straight that night. I felt almost human waking up at 415 am after that long stretch!!
Yesterday was good too, we went out for dinner for Adams mums mothers day catch up. Some lady in the resteraunt was all clucky and held Olivia for a while. Cant believe i gave my baby over to a stranger!!!! But all the girls on the table behind us were so clucky!!!!
Last night Olivia slept well again... 3 hour stretches. Now shes sitting in her bouncer trying to touch the toy on the A frame and coming out with the occasional "ah-ga"
I cant believe shes 6 weeks old today, gees time flies. People say things get better from here on in, in regards to sleep... I hope so:)
Well now shes grizzly.... might wake up Adam if I let her keep going..... oh I might just do that!!!LOL
Better run
Take care all and happy mothers day
Love Melissa
-
you sound so happy Melissa! :)
Mason slept again last night just waking up 3 hourly for his feeds! Why cant he go back to 4 hourly though?
Dh is feeding him some EBM at the moment and Im getting some "me time".
Happy Mothers day to everyone, I got a 1 hour body massage! Now I dont know when I will have time to get it though, haha.
Melissa: you are so game leaving Olivia with your DH. I dont think I can do it if Im not in the house! My mum offered to have Mason over night last night and there is no way I can leave him :(
-
Danni the first time i left olivia was at 2 weeks. one of my girlfriends was over and offered to look after her while i went to the doctors for mastitis. it was hard but she was fine, then it got easier. i just figure i need some time out from it all every now and then and i deserve it. its amazing how 3 hours away can clear your head! we all work hard looking after our bubs so we all need some time to ourselves, even if its only half an hour to start with. youd be supprised how capable dh is!
Have a great day
love melissa
-
I know and I completely agree with what youre saying but I am too "clingy"! lol
My Dh cannot change his nappy properly so I am scared about that! Plus if Mason decides to cry, DH gets upset if he cant settle him :(
-
ohno.... you'll have to teach him to change a nappy and i dont know how to teach him patience!
lol about being clingy, you'll find once youre able to let go just once and things turn out fine, it will get easier to let go!
-
Well the nappy thing is hard, I admit. His bottom is so small and so are the top of his thighs. So when you put the nappy on, you need to pull it high and tight around his legs otherwise things escape!
-
Hi everyone!
Don't have much time to chat as I am at DH's work and we are about to leave but thought I would check in and let you know that I am alive and finally gave birth to Mimi - 10 days late! Induction - very painful still down there after full Keilland forceps rotation (little lady was completely around the wrong way posterior...)
But...she is out now and totally divine and a week and one day old today - so I don't quite fit into the April 2007 babies after all! Hope you don't mind..... She is feeding and sleeping well - touch wood it will continue...will hit the library this week and catch up on everyone's news but in the meantime - take care and hope all those gorgeous April babies are thriving....
Lots of love

great to hear from you Gigi! Hope to see you round more often soon
Thanks Caro, same to you
-
Hi!
Happy Mothers Day - I hope you all had a great one!
Melissa - thats great you had some time out and a good sleep! Dylans just starting to make some little noises other than crying as well!!
Gigi - Congratulations!!! Well done!!! So glad to see you in here!
I had a great day - Had lunch at my brothers for my Mum - was going to have it here but my dishwashers broke - grrrr! We will have to get a new one asap as I refuse to do dishes - hehehe. Otherwise I'm just super tired! Dylans going well except not feeding that great. I think I just have way too much milk! He just breaks off when I get let down and is only feeding one side and hardly draining it. Hope he has a growth spurt soon just to empty my boobs! hehehe.
How often do you get let downs?? When I feed Dylan in about 10-15min I get 3-4 letdowns. Poor little man has no hope of finishing hehehe. Oh well, I'm sure my boobs will settle soon.
Gotta rush...chat later!

Hi everyone and a very Happy Mothers Day to you all.
Have had a great day, had a belated baby shower/mothers day get together with friends and family and Hazel was thoroughly spoiled! I didn't do too badly either. DH got me a beautiful Olive tree on behalf of Hazel and a gorgeous card and I got a bit teary!!
Have had a few unsettled days with Hazel, just not settling through the day and waking every two hours throught the night. Put it down to wind but she is right as rain again today and sat happiyl in her rocker for an hour so I wonder if it was a bit of a tummy bug. Or maybe I'm just getting better at winding her! BF is going really well, one nipple is still slightly sore but is definately healing and not so sore.
Good to hear from you Gigi, hope you can pop in more often.
Has anyone heard form Jen in our Belly Buddies group? Hope she is ok.
Take care one and all :D
-
Hello everyone, so I've been so delayed in popping my head in, we've just been so busy, you know how it is!
Nicky is about due for a feed so I'll make this brief, but looking forward to getting to know all of you and your bubs!
Nicholas was born two weeks ago today, 5 weeks early! He is doing really well, and being kind to his parents, which is a good thing as I have a broken foot so DH is doing alot! Being so early I never thought I'd be in the April buddies thread, my EDD was 2nd June LOL! Like I said though, looking forward to knowing all of you :)
ETA Kristie, just saw that you are in Croyds.....me too! Small world hey?
-
Hi!
Just a quick one...bed is calling me!
Christy - Glad you had a great day and Hazel has settled down for you!
Sezjm - Wow at 5 weeks early! Congratulations! Oh you poor thing with a broken foot - that must make things all a lot harder!
Chat tomorrow!

Hi everyone
Happy Mothers Day to all of you new mummies!!! Hope you all have a great day.
Well we didn't have a great day, today was probably one of the worst days I've had. Lily was awake every two hours last night and then she was awake for a couple of hours in between last night too so not a gaad night for us. She has cried all day and has hardly slept at all, except when she's feeding when she'll sleep for about 30mins. Then I burp her and she won't go back to sleep. I spent the morning in tears. DH thankfully took her for a walk in the baby carrier for an hour so I could compose myself and have a bit of a sleep. She's still not asleep now. There's no times in the day where she's content, I can't put her down even when she's asleep. There has to be something wrong I think. I'm going to the Dr tomorrow to see if we can figure out what's wrong. I think she might have reflux. She seems to have the symptoms to me.
Anyway gotta go DH needs to get thing ready for work so I have to take over with Lil.
Night all.
Kel
-
oh no Kel, I hope it was just one bad day :hugs:
Mason slept again just waking every 3 hours for a feed. He wakes up 3 hours ON THE DOT! Im sure he should be going aleast 4 hours by now?? :(
But anyway, I dont feel *that* tired. He is watching tv in my room right now hehe.
I think he may have some sort of reflux too. He is brining up so much more milk than normal, and all I seem to do is wipe his face and change his clothes :(
-
Hi!
I had a great night!! Dylan went nearly 6 hours between feeds from 7.20pm til 1am! WOW! He then went 3 hourly for the rest of the night but I was so happy with that!
He's now having his unsettled time but I've managed to get him to snooze in his rocker thing.
Kel - Sorry you had such a rotten day...I hope everythings ok! Sometimes these bubbas are just so cheeky - that was great of dh to take her out for walk while you got some time out!
Danni - There's no "should"! hehehe. They'll feed whenever they like! Remember, he's only little as well so is maybe still catching up?? Dylans a chucky baby although he does seem to be settling down a little...I think it's ok as long as they're not screaming in pain iywkwim??
Gotta go - little mans awake - and screaming the house down!!
-
6 hours?! im so jealous!!! What did you do to him? ;)
This chucking thing is really bothering me. What if I didnt have so many clothes? And everytime I put him in his car seat I have to sit in the back with him ready to catch it. Im too scared to leave a bib on him when Im not watching cos he puts it over his nose :(
-
Hi!
Danni - LOL - nothing I swear! (although I had a glass of wine yesterday arvo! hehe) We've just started a nighttime pattern where he has a bath each night whenever his feed is around 5pm-7pm - so I feed one side, then he has a bath and then depending on how he fed I offer him the same side again or the other...he's mainly feeding only one side at the moment. I do this every night so that we can start a routine. He then sleeps all night (waking up for feeds of course!) In saying that he's quite unsettled throughout the day though....I can handle that a lot better than at night though!
Is he bringing his wind up?? I notice that Dylans chuckier if his wind doesn't come up...
-
kristie: im too scared to have any wine incase i make him unsettled, although now i might try! Please try and come to Nikkis on saturday night, would love for the boys to meet each other :)
Caro: its much more than a posset now...its a big chuck. He threw up his whole breast feed before :( I keep a BIG bib on him after his feeds and he wont burp over my shoulder...he HATES being up there, so i have to burp him sitting up.
-
Hi!
Good advice Caro!
Danni - I only had one glass and that was just as I finished a feed so would have been all out of my system by the time he fed next!
I know - I would love to come along but we're heading up to the PIL for the weekend as it's MIL's b'day! Next time for sure!
Dylan was doing those big vomits...I'm sure it was just from gulping it all down to quickly and too much...Just mention it to you mchn next visit....
-
HI ladies
Did we all enjoy our mothers day? Mine was my first which was very exciting. I wanted Rhys to get me some sleep as a pressie, but that didn't happen!
Sorry I have been lost in action. Rhys has been going through a view patch lately of constantly wanting to be fed. I had him weighed last Thursday and he is just off his original birth weight (after 2 weeks).
He has this weird habit of grabbing hold of the nipple and moving his head side to side- ouch! Is this because he is over hungry? He also kicks a lot at the end of a feed. Maybe I should just wrap him up?
Just wanted you ladies to know that I was thinking of you all and hoping that you are getting a decent amount of sleep!
Take care of yourselves and your little ones. :D
-
Hi!
Dee - Glad you had a good day yesterday! Quite often it's growth spurts that cause all the feeding! The head moving is definitely when they're hungry and I'm not sure about the kicking...maybe he's got a bit of wind??
-
Well, I think I spoke too soon yesterday. I had such a good weekend, Olivia spoilt it last night, crying and staying very unsettled and not sleeping from 230am til just after 5am, then not really settling all morning. I was and still am knackered, but in the midst of sleep deprivation, I cleaned the house, swept, moped vacumed washing in and out and dinner! I almost called my mum at 9am, but for some reason I didnt.I think Olivia is a little too hot in her harness, so Iit just means we have to find the right outfits for her, espicially at night. We are leaving the singlets off and just having the jumpsuit and a light wrap.
Hope you all had a great mothers day.
Got to run, I am being called...or cried for!!!!!
Love Melissa
-
Thanks caro and Kristie for the advice!:D
-
Hi!
Melissa - Big hugs! I hope she sleeps well for you tonight!!
I'm so hoping Dylan sleeps well - I'm buggered! Louis was a terror today because he was overtired so I need them both to sleep well and be happy tomorrow - LOL!
Sweet Dreams!

Evening everyone! Tonight is my first night alone with Nicholas, DH has gone to a meeting for a couple of hours. I know it sounds pathetic, but because of my busted foot, I haven't really been on my own much for the last three weeks. And Andy has really been around all the time to help since Nicky was born, so it's a bit strange to be home alone....well, with my wee little man!
Just a quick question, I'm having a bit of a crisis of confidence with BFing.....how long do you all feed for at each feed? Does it vary much from feed to feed? Cos Nicky was premmie we got into a rigid sort of routine, now that he's past his birth weight I'd like to get more onto demand feeding. I'm just a bit lost as to how to do that! At the moment we're doing 20 mins on each side, sometimes 10, 10, 10, 10, then a comp feed (but we're slowly getting rid of that HOORAY!). And we feed every four hours.
Hope you all get a wonderful night's sleep! What wouldn't we give for four hours straight......;)
-
Hi!
Sezjm - I just feed Dylan when he cries! Usually at every 3 - 3 1/2 hours...He feeds for as long as he likes but thats usually only about 10min - 15 max. This is strange for me as Louis fed for ages - like 30min each side! Mostly at the moment he only wants one side though...He soon lets me know when he's had enough! and yes it does vary from feed to feed definitely!
-
yep it varies here too! Sometimes Mason only has 5 mins each side and sometimes 20 mins!
-
Geez, I''ve got a lot to learn!!!!!! :)
-
dont worry sez...4 weeks ago I knew nothing!
I think i have mastitis guys :( the pain in my breasts is awful and lumpy/hard (even though i massage them out) and they are burning!!
I have TOO much milk and I dont know how to decrease it. Im off to the doctors this morning. See what i get for putting Mason back onto the boob?
Kristie: good news, nikki is rescheduling!
-
Hi!
Well, I had a shocker last night...bit of a zombie today...
Just a quick one as I've got to have a shower...I think I got a smile this morning!! Woohoo! Dylans also starting to lose his hair and get some pimples...Omg my little boy is growing up - LOL!
Sezjm - Don't worry - I'm doing it for the second time and it feels like I'm learning all over again...
Danni - Hope your not getting mastitis - I've had lumps but luckily they haven't developed into anything and he'll have a burst of feeding and clear them out....Otherwise just express a little bit to try and ease them...
-
Danni, that definately sounds like mastitis:( Dont hold off too long to see the doc. My doctor told me off for waiting for the day. I got it on one side, then the next week I got it on the other. Not pleasant, especially if you get the flu like symptoms. Good Luck.
I think Olivia had a cold....actually she does, shes all snotty and snorty and sneezing and her voice is a little hoarse:( Lucky we have our 6 week check up today.
Last night we put her in her room, OMG.... seperation anxiety on my behalf. I had a few tears, coz she wasnt in our room. I have never ever felt like this about someone before. Its such an amazing feeling. Adam feels it too, but it doesnt upset him like it does me! She slept ok, but was up for an extra feed.... so back to the 2 hourly feeds :( Maybe coz of her cold or room change?!?!
Kristie, I hope you get some sleep today and enjoy your shower.
Sezjem, its such a learning curve, isnt it?!
Hi everyone else, must go, my little princess is waking and we have to go to the GP...oh I think im due for a pap smear today:(
Chat soon
Love Melissa
-
Hi guys. Its been hectic so havent been in for a while. Feeling a little sorry for myself as have had a few problems breastfeeding. He is definitely getting enough milk - at 3 weeks he was already 1kg heavier than birth, and has loads of dirty nappies. But all last week my nipples really hurt, then on friday I started feeling really ill, saturday afternoon came around and I realised I had mastitis. It is never a good thing when the doctor looks at you and says 'oh my god!'. So have been getting over that. DH is bit stressed cos of exams coming up and I feel a little alone in the whole thing. I know he says to ask him for help but when I do he seems to get the grumps. So why bother? I know this time will pass but it does seem so difficult sometimes. Iggy is just so divine though. I wish I could extend the hours in the day so I could get everything (including sleep) done. Then I would feel better. :)
Good to hear how everyone is going though.
-
yes i need to extend the hours in the day too! Wow...i didnt realise mastitis was so common!
I am off to the docs today.
Kristie: Thats the problem, I AM expressing...but its causing more milk production. Its a vicious circle!
Melissa: I am too scared to put Mason in his own room...and I swore that he would never be in our room. I know how you feel. Hope bubs cold clears up soon!
-
Hi everyone, hope you're all having a good day!
I think our little man is starting to wake up! He is now stirring for most of his feeds, and last night he woke up for feeds every three hours! I think it was a bit much for him though, he was a bit unsettled, didn't feed that well, and cried for quite awhile when putting him down again each time :( . He sleeps so much better during the day! We didn't have much fun this morning, we sat down to feed at 8.15am and he didn't latch on until nearly 8.45! I was starting to despair when he finally decided he wanted to eat. I'll give him another day, but I'm thinking that I might need a bit of help from an LC. Not that we're having any huge problems, but I just want everything to keep going smoothly.
Danni, I hope you've managed to get to the dr, and that you're feeling better. Mastitis sounds so nasty!
Melissa, I hope Olivia is okay, and that your pap smear wasn't too bad! I can't imagine having one in four weeks, it's still a bit ouchy down there!
Kristie, Nicky had a pimple the other day! I just kept putting BM on it, it seemed to help it go quickly. I'll just cry when he loses his hair, I love it so much! Hope you're managing to get through the day alright, it must be hard with a toddler as well.
Hope everyone else is well, I'm sure I'll get to know you all soon. I too wish I could extend the hours in the day, I feel like I can never catch up!
Off to try and nap now before Nicholas wakes for his feed.........
-
Hi!
Dylan and I managed a snooze on the couch today while Louis was napping which was great! Only woke up because my Mum called - grrrr. We're having a cruisy day here though...
Melissa - Poor Olivia having a cold - I'm sure thats what the extra feeds would be about. Yeah on putting her in her own room! Hope your appt went well!
Krysalyss - Sorry to hear about the mastitis...Hope things settle when your dh's exams are over...These early months are stressful on everyone!
Danni - Yeah...that is a bit hard...Hope it clears up quickly!
Sezjm - Sounds like your going well! Is he bringing his wind up overnight??? Sounds like a visit from a lc could be a great idea - You definitely don't want it taking that long all the time!! Hope you get a good nap in!
Well....we dtd last night! Only because dh was nagging so much...I told him to leave me alone again for a while now! It was ok...not painful or anything but just a bit uncomfortable. I didn't do it after having Louis for nearly 6 weeks so he's got super lucky this time! Better not get p/g....LOL!
-
haha kristie, we dtd last week and it was uncomfy for me too and I had a c/s!
Well the doctor said i cant have mastitis as i dont have red boobs or flu like symptoms and i dont have a temperature. He basically said i am producing too much milk and i need to stop expressing or atleast cut down a lot. well im trying...but OMG this engorgement kills :(
-
Keep rubbing the lumps while your feeding and try and direct Masons mouth to where the lump is iykwim?? Also...when your feeding put a nappy/towel up to the other boob and let it drip out as that can help stop ducts blocking....Hope that helps a bit...
-
-
Haha kristie at dtd. adam and i tried it at 3 weeks post birth...too ouchy, then again a aweek later, better but still sore!. now its back to normal:) and the doc gave me a script for the pill.
the pap smear was fine, i have a little hem'roid (sorry tmi) from birth... got some cream and i have to do my pelvic floor exercises coz one part of my vag is being pushed on by my uterus:( oh the joys of child birth, so dont forget to exercise!!!!
Olivia is due for vacinations in 2 weeks... think i will get adam to take her....i'll cry!!!!
Hi everyone... danni, glad its not mastitis, krysalyss, sorry to hear that u have it. Sezjm, good luck at the lc clinic, its definately worth it for some tips....sadly their tip for me was to put her on the bottle:( but at least i am a bit wiser for next time.
well, best go little miss wriggle puss makes it hard to type!!!
chat soon
