thanks guys. Ihad to give mason one bottle of formula. God i hated it. And i had to run around like a lunatic boiling water, sterilising bottles...as if I dont have enough to do.
Then at the next feed I managed to get some milk in the pump...slowly but surely it is increasing again today. I certainly dont have as much as I did a few days ago, but it seems to be replenishing thank goodness.
Also, it seems Mason didnt even like the formula!
-
Danni... Could you keep a bottle of cooled boiled water in the fridge.. just in case you needed to make Mason a bottle... (saves having a mental moment!!)... could you give him a bit of cooled water to top him up instead of EBM??? May be worth asking about it ...
Also if you can stomach it... drink lots of ginger beer... & eat anything gingery too...
Hugs sweetie... Hopefully your supply will shoot back up shortly :)

Hi!
We had an ok night! Dylan fed at 12 then 4 then 8.30!!! That sounds great but he was up for 1 1/2 h+ after the 4 am feed. Little terror. He really does want to be upright and seems to want his mummy...He is so restless sleeping in his basinette and then as soon as I'm holding him or we have him in the bouncer he sleeps really well...little cheeky. I suppose while he's so little it's not too bad...I just never sleep well when bubba is with me...
Krysalyss - Glad to hear your going well! Yeah on bubbas weight gain! Thats great you got a big nap in! It's amazing the difference it makes!
It really is true..I remember being in that state of mind with Louis - and getting really frustrated that I didn't want him to be in that stage "forever" - even further down the track when we had sleep issues - they all end up resolving and he's slept really great for ages now...I've had to learn so much patience having kids! LOL!
Danni - Big hugs! I'm sure he's getting enough booby juice! If you gave him formula and he still wasn't settled at least you know it's not your milk! He's probably just got some wind or is super full even! I had it with Dylan this morning and he'd only had one side but the way he was wriggling indicated that it was wind/pains and not hunger. I know how hard it can be trying to work these little buggers out but I'm sure you've got plenty of milk in there!! I'm the same as Deb and can never express as much as bubba gets...I've always had to do it in lots of 20ml or so even though at that point bubba would be feeding over 100ml...Also - by the end of the day lots of people don't feel full and sure enough by morning or if they have an extended sleep you fill up again! Big big hugs.
Hope you managed to get some sleep - remember all babies will eventually go to sleep! even though at the time it feels like they won't!
Sezjm - Hope you get your bf dramas sorted as well!
Melissa - I picked Dylans boogas out this morning! LOL! He wasn't happy with me but it had to be done! hehehe. Sounds like you had a great nights sleep as well!
K - going to try and jump in the shower!
-
Wow - quiet in here today!
We got our first real smiles today - woohoo! I thought I had one the other day but this was definite! Dh saw as well which is good or people will think I'm fibbing! LOL!
He did it twice when I was doing silly voices/faces and it was a whole face smile opposed to the windy ones...Woohoo - This is the beginning of him becoming a little person!
Hope your all well!
-
thats great kristie, its so nice to see them develop.
Olivia is out like a light. I gave her some infant demazin for her cold... she was asleep withing half an hour. poor little thing. So we havent done anything today except crank up the central heating and sleep!!! Such a change from yesterday!
tis very quiet in here, hope everyone is keeping well
love melissa

Hi!
Glad to hear your getting some sleep...I just have such an unsettled cookie...why does he only want to sleep when I'm holding him? He can be completely out of it sleeping and I put him down and thats it - he stirs and wakes up...grrrr! I mean I'm glad he loves his mummy but this is ridiculous!
-
Evening all,
Firstly - Danni - big hugs to you - it is so difficult being in that situation. He may well be full and it's something entirely different that's unsettling him. IT's so hard to know what the deal is with them sometimes, but if he was on the boob for 40 minutes, that should help your supply to replenish. That whole supply and demand thing. Good luck and I hope you have a better night. Try not to feel bad about the formula thing - you are doing a great job and it will all work out. xxx
Krysalyss - great news on the weight gain! I am so jealous of your nap.....I hear you on the whole growing up thing. When Ella (21 months) walked into the hospital to meet her little sister I realised that my first "baby" was grown up nearly! She looked so huge! The journey is sweet though as they move through all the different stages. I was advised with Ella to not wish away the baby months - you know, "I can't wait till she crawls/walks/talks etc" because those early times are such heaven and they are gone very quickly....
SezJem - hope you work out your BF issues too. Good luck.
Melissa - I have used those aspirators on Ella before - they are full on when they get all the gunk out aren't they!
Kristie - Yay on the smile! Fantastic. Look forward to that myself. Did you see the birth announcement for JenSAm? Finally her little boy arrived....great news. Mimi and Beau certainly took their time....How is Louis going with the whole new arrival thing? Ella has been great really - very affectionate with Mimi and not showing any signs of jealousy which is good. touch wood it stays that way. Her day sleep has gone to the dogs though and I am struggling still to get her back to normal. tHank god she is a gem at night. I will definitely take it easy this weekend. I took Ella to an indoor play centre today and the trip nearly was the end of me - a 5 minute drive but the car was murder on my stitches - will the pain ever end!!!
Mimi is doing really well still - although I think she did her long stretch this afternoon and I am in for 3.5-4 hourly through the night. I hope it's only a one feed night but I don't think so !!!
Mitch - good advice re the bottle in the fridge. I did the same "just in case"...
have a great night all.
Gigi xx

Well we tweaked a few things and BFing has been so much better today! :D I'm a bit worried about how much comp feed he is wanting, but I'll chat to my MCHN on monday about that. I just hope we can keep up the good work through the night. I find it so hard to wake up properly for his night feeds, and STAY awake! If it were only once it wouldn't be so bad, but two or three times is hard. Nicholas is up for an hour and fifteen minutes to an hour and a half, so by the time I crash again there's not much time for sleep! You all know what I mean ;) I just needed to vent! I can't wait for the day when he feeds more efficiently.
Kristie, hope you can get some rest tonight. It's amazing how much they know isn't it? Nicky sleeps so well during the day, but come night time he just wants company! Congrats on the smile, it must be so nice!
Melissa, hope Olivia is starting to get better. We really needed the central heating today, hey? Awful weather, nice day to stay inside (which I did, in my jarmies ! )
Gigi, fingers crossed you only have that one feed tonight!
Danni, glad you had a better night, hope your day went well too :) . I think Nicholas likes his booby milk better than formula too, he scoffs his EBM top up! I just wish I could express more :(
Krysalyss, yay for the great weight gain, and a nap! It's amazing how good you feel after a bit of a rest. Hope you can mange to fit some more in......
Hi to everyone else I've missed, I'm sure I'll get there eventually! Wishing all of you a wonderful night..........
Love Sez xoxo

G'day ladies :)
Sorry long time no see again, hopefully I'll be able to move upstairs more often now.
Gigi - great to see you on!
Danni - *hugs* I've been having huge problems b/fing (prolly due to the reduction) and as a result put him on the boob when he's just waking up and only grizzly then by the time he's at full scream the bottle's ready and he's suckled for about 10 mins or so. But unfortunately, not much swallowing happening there. But the way Patrick nuzzles into my breast is just so cute and adorable.
Kris - sounds like Dylan's moving ahead in leaps & bounds!
Sez - I hear you on the nighttime feeds - I swear I don't actually wake up during them!
Well yesterday we went to the specialist to see about my foot / leg problems. Its still numb after the birth (now 3 weeks ago) which is kinda worrying, but I'm a lot more stable on it. Then to The Glen to put Patrick's registration into Medicare (but I left the form on the desk at home :( ) and to work to show him off. Bought him a few bits and bobs at DJ's and a shirt or 2 for myself as although I successfully packed everything I needed for 3 feeds / nappy changes for him, I forgot a clean shirt for myself ... doh. Oh well, the new Bonds hoodies are great at hiding post-natal bellies!
Have decided to start rating baby change-rooms on my blog ... thought DJ's would be lovely but all the nappy bins were full to overflowing and it smelt putrid.
Anyhows, hope to see you all more often :)
kaz + Patrick John.

Kaz - great to chat to you too! Hey, tell me more about your leg/foot problems due to the birth because I have a similar thing with my right leg following Mimi's birth and I just want to know if we had a similar experience???
xx
-
Oh wow Gigi, I really hope so (I've been thinking I'm crazy). Basically after the birth, immediately after, my leg was totally weak - I couldn't stand on it or even move it onto the bed (I gave birth standing up). That sorta continued for about 24 hours and has slowly been decreasing over the past 3 weeks - now it feels like I have a local aneasthetic wearing off on my right foot from the ankle down. The ankle is still weak but the strength is getting better - previously I couldn't even kick off my uggs - they were too heavy - but now I can lift the uggs with my foot. I can't feel anything on the skin but I can feel the pressure.
Is this what you have? Please let me know!
I went to the docs (specialist) today for a follow-up and he's given me 3 possible causes:
* nerve entrapment (either at spine level or lower)
* Central nervous system problem (so I'm getting a MRI of my brain!) or
* Some disease like Lupus.
He thinks its the former, specially as Patrick came out with his hand on his chin (little monkey!)
Oooh, I must put in my email for a new avatar!
I can't believe Patrick is already 3 weeks old ... he's still asleep. I'm really lucky in that he does sleep well. Generally he'll sleep about 3 hours in between feeds, although the other night he slept between 12:30 and 7 am! woohoo! Of course, last night he didn't ... and right now he's been asleep since about 6:30 (although on my tummy, not in his bed) so he'll be waking soon for a feed.
Kris - Patrick sleeps well in his bouncinette well too ... in his cradle, the little bugger is pushing his way up the bed, I put him in with his feet at the bottom (as per SIDS recommendations) and when I pick him up, his head is almost touching the other end. Soon he'll wiggle off the apneoa monitor and give me the shock of my life - similar to Danni I bet!
Danni - the turning point for me with the formula was when we were in hospital, and I'd done 3 feeds without a wet nappy. That started alarm bells ringing, and I started him on the formula immediately (after the nurses responded to my repeated bell presses!) and viola, next nappy was nice and wet. So knowing I was doing my best to keep him healthy quickly overcame any sadness I had about going on formula. You'll work it out for yourself, although it sounds like your milk's coming in again!

Hi!
After him being sooo unsettled he actually slept ok...Went 5 hours then 4 hours - so only 1 night feed at nearly 4am! - but I dragged him out with a dummy because I couldn't be bothered getting up yet! LOL! I slept on the couch with him in the bouncer beside me but he mostly spent time sleeping on my tummy (yep me sitting up so very comfy - LOL!)
Anyway, He's back to being unsettled this morning...I have my mchn appt today so will see what she says...
Gigi - Yep - I saw the post from Jen in our old thread!! How fantastic - hopefully she'll join us in here!
Yeah Louis is going really well - he's had his moments but thats only when he's tired and grumpy (which would be the case if dylan was here or not iykwim?) He's been very loving and really patient with me since I've been so busy! He's my little champion! (especially when we don't get brekky until after 9am! LOL)
Bugger about the day sleeps - You really need a sanity break! Luckily Louis has been ok there but he's started waking up at night a bit again - just once or twice for his dummy...it's probably Dylan crying that disturbs him...
I'm sure your stitches will feel better soon!
Sez - Yep - ikwym - I know with Louis he took forever to feed - Dylan is a much more effecient feeder - but maybe thats why we're having all our problems?? He probably has it all Too quickly...
Kaz - Bugger about your leg. Yeah on shopping! I've got those bonds hoodies as well! LOL! There's a great shop at the Glen - Kids central or something...Has great toys for when bubs is a bit bigger!
LOL I used the change rooms at DJ's a couple of weeks ago and I agree - they were feral with their smell!
Wow at such a big sleep the other day - thats great! I'm with you on the time flying - Dylans 4 weeks old today!! Wow!!!
I can't believe he's already nearly to big for his bed! I'm starting to think buying mine was a waste of money as he's only slept in it a handful of times...LOL!
Chat later...

Hi All,
Olivias asleep, yay!! I think its the demizin though...ooopss she spits half of it out but it still knocks her about, thats why i'm not keen on giving her much at all. Last night she woke up for only one feed and stayed in her cot the entire night, so sleep for us is getting much better:)
Danni, I hope things are going well with b/f and that its not stressing you out too much
Kristie, its a bugger when they decide to find your tummy a lot more comfy... and you're still on the couch, you poor darling.
Gigi and Kaz, sorry to hear about your legs, hope they get better soon.
Sez, i also know what you mean about those long long feeds at night. Glad I dont have to do them anymore, they really do your head in with sleep deprivation. Just try and get some rest when you can.
Hi to Deb, krysalyss, sari, caro and everyone else I have missed....cant believe i actually have managed to do personals, all but short ones:)
I have a bit of a delema.... we have been invited to a party in a week and we were thinking of getting my mum to babysit for the whole night either at our place or I would drop Olivia off. It sounds like a good idea, but, I dont think I can do it... seperation anxiety all over again. I'm not too sure if i would be able to enjoy myself without her there. What to do....
Anyway my little princess is stirring, go to go clean some boogas!!!
Take care
Love melissa

Howdy all!
Big hugs to all of you having BF difficulties, it really is hard work. I seem to be coping okay allthough my nearly healed nipple is now really sore again because stupid me put the breast pad in the wrong way and the sticky bit on the back stuck to my nipple, ouch! Hazel had a really unsettled couple of days, just wouldn't go down anywhere but my arms and did some greenish poo, and after researching it I think she just wasn't getting enough milk. Seems to be back to normal today so I figure it's just my boobs taking a couple of days to adjust their supply to her increasing demands. Does that make sense?
Have finally gotten around to making a webpage so you can see the photos of my little angel if you click on the link at the bottom of the page.
Lots of sleep, happy baby and full boob vibes to you all x

Hi Christy,
Hazel is absolutely beautiful. Ouch on putting the sticky bit on your nipple!
Good luck with the breats feeding
Love Melissa

Hi!
Just a quick one....
Got back from the mchn - OMG Dylans a greedy guts - He's put on 742g in a f/n! He now weight 4.602kg! Wow. So at least I know he's getting enough - LOL!
Unfortunately she didn't have any words of wisdom for me in regards to his sleep so I'm going to give the infacol etc a try and see how we go....I'm also going to try and eat plain boring foods and see if that makes a difference.
Melissa - I think I'll be on the couch for a while yet...LOL! Maybe just get your mum to babysit but just go our for a couple of hours...then it may not be so bad...ikwym though - I don't think I could leave either of my boys at the moment! Louis has only had 2 or 3 nights away from me in his life!! Hehe. I always thought it wouldn't bother me and I'd get him babysat all the time but geez it changes when you have them! hehe.
Christy - Glad to hear Hazels back to normal for you! What gorgoeus piccies of your little girl!
-
sorry just a quickie here...we have been out ALL Day.
I dont know if this is coincidence or not, but this morning I got motillium and now my milk is flowing perfectly! I just filled a bottle in 5 minutes again :confetti:
Last night I ran out of milk and had to give mason a formula bottle again :( (his 2nd one) but i managed to make enough over night to feed him.
so YAY!! only 2 formula bottles. thank god.
-
caro: i dont like oats, and i wont eat them.
I dont drink milk, i drink soy milk, so the aktavite is great for me. And the soy I drink is 100% fat free with high calcium.
This morning I managed to express 20 mls from both breasts. Just now, i got 240ml. bit much of a coincidence isnt it?
I have been taking fenugreek for around 2 weeks now and i dont stink.
