Hello ladies and big cuddles to all your beautiful Bubbas. I've been MIA for ages it seems. Life is busy with a little one and have had lots of family commitments.
Caro- I'm so sorry things have turned around the wrong way for you again. Hope things get easier really quickly.
Kellie- Well done for persevering with bf. It will probably be easier now that you are a bit more settled and know little Lily better. Hopethe vaccinations aren't too painful (for either of you!)
Dee- Nice to see you back on and glad you're doing well. Yay on such a great night's sleep, hopefully this will happen again and again and again........!
Kristie- Don't know how you do it with the two! Dylan is gorgeous!
Danni- Congratulations on your nightime routine, sounds delicious. It gives me hope yet.
Krysaliss- I agree. it's wonderful watching all their little milestones. It's hard to believe how much they learn and achieve in such a short space of time.
Iona- Well done on surviving the injections, hope ours goes as well next week.
Gigi- Enjoy your holiday. One word- Jealous. Mum and Dad are paying to fly us down to Tassie to visit family down there but we've decided to wait until spring as we've just escaped the cold in the UK and it won't be much fun showing DH my home town in the cold. I f we wait til spring we can also afford to go for longer and see a bit more too. Can't wait.
Hazel and I- We are great right now. She is a little chubster and is smiling and giggling all over the place, sooo cute. We went for a bit of a rough patch there for a while, knackered, hormonal and DH just not doing anything or respecting what I do all day, everyday. I was really resenting him having a life outside the house and things in general were just bringing me down. I think we are both missing our family and friends and social network in the UK too which didn't help. A couple of big fights followed by some good deep and meaningfuls have put things right now though. DH is being much more hands on and has been taking Hazel out on the weekend mornings to give me a sleep in which is bliss. I've joined a health club with a creche so it's great to get out of the house and do something physical and also meet some other mums. Am looking forward to my Mother's Group starting in August too. Is still a little while away but will all be babies born in April so worth the wait. I am so with you all on the not sleeping through the day. Unless she's in the sling or car or my arms it's a max of half an hour. I would be concerned but the fact that the majority of you guys are experiencing the same thing reassures me taht it's actually pretty normal despite all the books that tell you otherwise! The upside is that Hazel sleeps like a log at night, have even had a few seven hour stints, although this doesn't happen "routinely" yet. Generally though it's three feeds between 7pm-7am, and I'm happy enough with that. She is just such a little treasure though, and is happiest sitting looking over my shoulder watching the world go by or listening to her Mummy sing (badly) anything from nursery rhymes to the Rocky Horror Show soundtrack! We are such lucky ladies to have such love in our lives! Happy thoughts and lots of smiles for you all x x
-
Hi Melissa. Sorry, missed you in my personals. Yay on the good sleep, it really does make life seem so much rosier, doesn't it!
-
Christy it can be such a change when the little ones come along. I am glad that things are turning around for you. I have been to a mothers group twice now and it is a godsend. Such a good idea to chat with mothers with children about the same age as yours.
-
Thanks Dee! I really am looking forward to it. Am also planning to meet up with the girls from my antenatal class now that we've all had our bubbas. Will be nice to know people who understand just what I'm experiencing x
-
Hi!
I have a very hard to get to sleep bubba here this morning...grrr. I know it's a phase but it can be frustrating sometimes - esecially when Louis needs me as well. I did manage to get some scones made though so can't wait to have some for aft tea with some jam and cream!!
Melissa - Thats great your getting some sleep!! Enjoy!!
Christy - Thanks. It can be very testing for relationships when a new bubba is thrown in the mix! Dh and I have had our fair share of arguments lately - over not much but it doesn't help when we're both tired and worn out! Good for you going to the gym - I'm going as well and it's so nice to get out of the house and have some time to yourself! I'm going 3 mornings a week now - the kids go into creche 2 x and then my mum looks after them once as well, then I try and go once over the weekend as well!
Mothers group will be great for you to meet people and get out of the house also!
Our bubbas will eventually get into a routine where they'll have two good sleeps a day and a nap (well thats what Louis did - and he was the worlds worst sleeper early on!) I'm not sure when it will happen though - maybe around 3-4 months....so we've got a while to deal with the non day sleepers yet but it will end!!
-
Well, nothing from me for ages then loads in one day!
Kris, how did Dylan go in the creche? I haven't left Hazel 'strangers' yet and I'm feeling a little nervous about leaving her in the creche at the health club. I know I will be just around the corner........ one of the classes is a Bubacise one where I can have her with me which is good but I plan to go 3-4 times and probably 2 times will have to leave her in there........
-
Hi!
Christy - Dylans fine in creche. He's so little it just doesn't phase him. With Louis I started him when he was about 5 or 6 months and had more trouble but the majority of time it was fine. Also at Louis' age now (20m) he loves going there and playing with the kids and with all the "new" toys. When I first put Louis in I was nervous as well and would just run out a couple of times and peak through the window to see if he was ok. Also, if bubs are really unsettled they usually come and get you...
-
g'day ladies :D
So m uch has happened, I don't htink I can keep up with it all!
Caro - hope the return of the reflux has waved "goodbye" to you again, and you and MIchael are enjoying some peace and quiet!
Wow at babies rolling over!
Kris - I went to the gym last week (um maybe 2 weeks ago?) which sorta killed me - well done to you and Christie for continuing!
I had my 6-8 week checkup last week and as a result:
* Patrick's tongue-tie was snipped
* I'm seeing a physio for my pelvic floor and am banned from any physical activity other than walking
* Getting an IUD
* Have Motillium to try out
Next week starts our mothers' group locally, looking forward to it.
Patrick is decidedly unsettled today, and now DF's home he's taken him for a while (which is why I'm on). Usually he's pretty good, but not today? I think he may be coming down with a cold. Sleeping through from about 11pm / midnight untill around 8am most nights, but last night was midnight - 7:30 and he's been awake since excepting a couple of hours (broken) sleep in my arms. Thank goodness I'm in the habit of doing my housework in 15-min sessions (thankyou FlyLady!). TOnight will be take-out though I think ... Although we're persevering with BFing its not all successful, but it does comfort him a bit .. the formulae's now up to 150mls most feeds, and the MCHN has suggested offering him 180mls (although he'll prolly only drink about 165 she reckons).
I love bonds tshirts, the long-sleeve ones are wonderful here - they dry quickly, are warm and funky. And cheap - I have (literally) one for each day of the week. And they fit nicely in my nappy bag :D
Anyhows, have a safe week all, the cat's meowing, I'd best let him in.

Hi all,
We had immunisations today. It wasn't too bad though Lily did cry for a while. She has been pretty good since- sleeping more than normal, which isn't a bad thing! She's in bed now and will hopefully stay there until 12ish. We also went to the dr today about her reflux...well I think it is anyway. The Dr wouldn't give me anything for her telling me to continue to top her up with the anti reflux formula since that seems to help her. Even though I told her that I wanted to try to exclusively bf again. Stupid woman. I'm going to try to find another Dr. She did give me some motilium, but only after I convinced her I had been on it in hospital to help with my milk then. She kept on telling me it was an anti nausia drug. I know it is but it also increases prolactin....I knew more than her. I told her I was going to get some herbs to help too (fenugreek and blessed thistle) and she said not to worry about that just to feed her more. I know I need to feed her more but I need something to feed her- I just don't have the supply at the moment. She gets too frustrated if shes sucking nothing! Did I say she's stupid?!
Krysalyss, wow on Iggy rolling! I try to show Lil how to do it but she's got no idea!! Hehehe...
Melissa, we have a similar routin here with night sleeps. Though she is usually in bed earlier and up at about 5:30ish (eeekkk!) I'm not a morning person not a 5:30 in the morning person especially!!! She'll sometimes drop off again until 8ish with me but only sometimes.
Christy, it sounds like you've settled into life with Hazel a bit more. It's tough huh? Such a huge change. I'm so used to being busy in such a different way with work and studying. I feel a bit the same with my dh at times when he's being especially lazy. They really don't have any idea how it feels to have a little person on you all day! LOL!
It sounds like you're getting a good network of friends and things to do, it helps with being at home all the time. I was getting frustrated at home and had to organise my week so that I had a few things to do, otherwise I'd go bananas!
Kaz, hello! Glad to hear things are going well. I hope it helps with your bf now Patricks tongue tie is gone. I can sympathise with the bottle feeding and breast feeding, it's not easy. Lil's the same with bf she really likes it for comfort but I'm not sure she gets all that much from me at the moment. I'm hoping the motilium works again for us. And I'm hoping that the supply continues... Lil's still having formula too, usually about 100-140mls.
Wishing everyone a great night's sleep!
Kel.
I'm jealous that he sleeps so well you lucky thing!

Hi!
Finally got Dylan to bed...he's been so super unsettled today...grrr. Hasn't wanted me to put him down and hasn't slept for longer than 20min at a time I think...I hope we have an ok night...
Kaz - Wow on the sleeps from midnight - 8am!! Thats fantastic! Sorry to here he's unsettled today though...Glad your appt went well - we got Louis' tongue tie snipped when he was 2 weeks old! Better to do it when they're little! I agree - the bonds t's are great!
Just a note for everyone! Probably best to grab some winter clothes in the next size or 2 up because once all these sales hit the summer clothes will be out. I had so much trouble over summer last year trying to buy jumpers for Louis as he'd grown into the next size and wasn't prepared and as you all know kids need jumpers all year round...anyway...thats my tip for now. I'll have to stock up on some 00 bonds gear for Dylan. I have quite a bit of stuff leftover from Louis but when he was in 00 it was summer so don't have a lot of winter gear...
Kel - Sorry to hear you didn't have a great dr's appt. Glad Lily went well with her immunisations though!
Off to bed...although I think dh wants some action...so don't have the energy but I suppose I better - LOL...Sweet dreams!!
-
kris: that pic of dylan looks like harry!

Good morning. Well we had a very unsettled night. A good sleep from 7pm-midnight, quick feed, back down til 3am then she just wouldn't settle in her cot again. It was absolutely blowing a gale here, so noisy, and I think that was the problem. She eventually went back to sleep at 5.30 in our bed, but then slept til 8.45 so in all not really too bad.
Thanks Kris, I know she will be fine and it's only for an hour, but you know how it is! Got mu Bubacise class this morning, I'm very interested to see what this will entail! Will have to make sure Hazel is well fed and drive around for a vit longer so she's well rested so she's a happy girl during the class. Will we be lifting our babies like weights? I will let you know!
Kaz, great to hear from you! I'm so envious of your long sleeps! Well done for persevering with the bf despite it being so hard. A lot of people would have packed it in now, and Patrick will thank you with his good health and super brain in the long term! Hopefully things will get easier and you'll begin to really enjoy it. It's only a few weeks in to what could be a year or more of bf, so hopefully the worst is over. Where did you get the bonds t's from, I desperately need some functional but funky stuff as all my winter gear from the UK is not made to accommodate lactating boobies and baby weight!
Kellie, glad the vaccinations went well. I guess it's like everything else each baby reacts differently to them. Hopefully Hazel will be ok too when we go next week. I am pretty shocked at the ignorance of your gp. She should be much more supportive of you trying to breastfeed exclusively. I would definately find one who is more on your wavelength and who actually knows what they're talking about. I have been hearing horror stories from my sister, who is a psychologist with centrelink, about lazy and incompetent gps, especcially the bulk billers (but of course not all of them) including one who stuck a depressed teenager on antidepressants but would not book her in for counselling because it took too long to fill in the paperwork! Stick in there with the bf, I am finding the oats in the morning are great for milk supply
Morning Danni!
-
Hi!
I have a very unsettled bubba still although he's gone down for a sleep now...He's had about 2 lots of 20min all day! Hopefully this sleep will be a bit longer now...nights seem to be mucked up as well as he fed at 1am and then I stretched him out until 8am...Little cheeky starts smilking at me when I try and settle him sometimes though...hehe.
Danni - hehe. I think they do look a little similar in that photo as well...Although when you see it properly he looks very different...
Christy - Hope your exercise class goes well this morning - sounds great!!! Hmm maybe thats why I've got lots of milk - I've been having oats as well in the morning - but I don't like porridge so I have them with my weetbix!! hehehe.
Chat later...dishes to do!
-
Christy - the bond tee's are at myer, kmart and dj's - they're 30% off at myer at the moment too.
Kris - thanks for the tip on 00's! Patrick has already started wearing bonds 00's and is in the 3-6mths size of Pumpkin Patch ... osh kosh he's in 000's and in target he's in 000's ... Just need to get out of the house now.
I can't believe this rain, and its over the road, so will be hitting the Cardinia catchment here methinks! Was very hard yesterday, they were after volunteers to go to NSW to help with their storm damage (SES) and I was so tempted! DF was even saying to go, and he'd stay home for 3 days to look after bubs (hehehe, that would be hillarious). But my back's still buggered, and bending over to put Patrick in his bouncer etc isn't helping much.
Danni - is that the suit you bought to take Mason home from hossy in? It looks just like the one we bought Patrick, but he was soooo tiny in it! Now he's grown out of it of course, which is a shame, cause it was sooo warm for him when we go hiking.
Question:
What do you actually "do" with the babies during the day?
Go shopping? Tummy time? Sit in bouncer? Cuddle until they stop crying?
How often do you bath them, a full-on bath that is? I'm doing one every second day at the moment...
How many outfits do you go through a day?
And how many times do you actually manage to either a) get out of pj's before DH comes home or (for bonus points) b) have a shower and manage to wash your hair?
And how many meals a day is everyone managing to eat themselves? (I'm finding that brekky and lunch are very hit&miss)
Anyhows, I can hear some stirring downstairs, best go cuddle the wiggly-wiggly-worm
Ciao, have a great day all!

Hi girls
All is well. We are on the final countdown before we come home! We leave next monday so everything is going in fast motion. And just to add to my list of things to do, I am hosting our mothers group here tomorrow.
Matt is rolling front to back and he is holding a rattle and putting it in his mouth. He loves watching his brother too. We have vaccinations at 12 weeks here, but seeing as we're away, we will do them earlier - at nearly 10 weeks, on friday.
I'm toilet training DS1 at the moment, and to show him what to do, I put Matt on the potty when i knew he would poo, and he did. DS1 then got on and did his first wee, totally missed the pot though, but it was still a first -for both! Not that i'm tt matty yet, that would be so hard seeing as he is peeing and pooing around the clock.
typing 1 handed . must run kisses to all

Hey all,
My good fortune with sleep still continues, so I am forever greatfull to this change:) We had Olivia weighed today for her 3 month check up. She put on 1kg in a month and now weighs 5.2kgs. One more sleep till the specialist review and then hopefully we can get her measured as well.
Kaz, I tend to play with Olivia, feed her and then she drifts off to sleep. If she wakes up and I am busy, I will leave her on the floor to play with her A fram, or put her in the swing. Sometimes she wont settle, so I will carry her around. I cant carry her in a carrier atm due to her harness, but I will as soon as it comes off. Same with tummy time, cant do that atm, but will do that too. As for baths I do it every other day because she can only have sponge baths, but will soon do it every night(harness again).
I get out of my pjs as soon as i get up, even if she is crying. I talk to her and say things like mummy has to get dressed and then tell her about the clothes I put on. She still cries, but if I dont leave her, then I wont be able to get dressed, eat breakfast or scratch myself for that matter, some times. I usually can see her or I talk to her when I dont have her with me, just to let her know I am there. She is now starting to lay in her cot and entertain herself for short periods too (gives me breathing space). Plus, she is the eldest in this group, so shes starting to be able to do a bit more...iykwim... Make sure you get hubby or anyone to look after bubs while your showering, sometimes I bring the bouncer into the bathroom and I now shower at night coz df is home....like now, hes entertaining her while I catch up on the net:)
And if your stuck for a shower, maybe I could help you out... you live in Melbourne...I live in Melbourne!!! Its hard but it gets better. My baby is alot more funner:) and a bit more independant, which is happened only in the past week really. Good luck.
Oh I am rabbitting on again....fingers crossed for tomorrow, will let you know.
Deb, how exciting, you're trips nearly here.
Take care
Love melissa
ps, hi everyone
-
Hi!
Kaz - Wow at wanting to go and help in Nsw!! You're a brave woman!
To answer your questions....
Yep - a bit of tummy time, in the bouncer under the play gym, sitting in the corner of the couch making silly faces hehe. We also have a kick and whirl thing from Louis that I've just started sitting him under. Sometimes he kicks and sets it off although he's not that interested just yet - LOL! and yep - lots of cuddling and rocking and burping!
Dylan has a bath everynight before his bedtime feed. Dh does this - he baths Dylan and then uses the water for Louis...this way hopefully the routine will be that both the boys go to bed at 7pm!
Dylan wears hopefully one outfit only and then pj's for bedtime....
I'm a bit of a organised freak so I'm always showered and dressed as early as I can be - usually by about 10am if we don't have to go out...I shower when Dylan goes down for his first nap...
I also manage to eat every meal! It helps when Louis has to eat as well - I have to make him brekky and lunch so make it for myself at the same time.
I must say having the two boys means I have to be organised...I also each night have a completely tidy house..I can't go to bed with toys out or mess around the house...I do think this is why I'm suffering a bit of insomnia at the moment because I'm just on the go all day and find it hard to unwind...
Deb - Yeah on getting ready for your holiday! Wow on the rolling and holding a rattle!! Isn't it gorgeous watching the boys together - Dylan was in the swing today and Louis was chatting to him and he was smiling at him...so gorgeous - I can't wait until they can really start interacting and playing together! Yeah on the toilet training - I'm going to start Louis after his b'day in Oct...we're just about to get him in his big bed though so that will be interesting...
Melissa - Yeah on the weight gain and the sleep - thats fantastic!! Sounds like your going along great!
To everyone - I have a question as well - How many feeds are day are your bubbas having on average?? Dylan varies between 5 and 6 but seems to cope and sleep a lot better having only 5....not sure if this is cos he's really windy etc...Thanks!
Chat later!
