Melissa- Hi, just missed your post. Great news on your long sleep and fingers crossed about the harness. You have done a great job coping with it all and how wonderful it will be for both of you when that harness comes off! :D

G'day Susan, welcome! I haven't been around for absolute ages, and its a very welcoming group!
Krys - MEH on the Dr. I know that Pip gets hot if I put him in too many layers - he's all sweaty if I put him in jeans over his wondersuit, but others in our group, their babies cry from the cold if they don't. So horses for courses. If his tummy's warm, then its all good, don't rely on hands for the temps.
Christy - I want your day! I'm trying to work out our budget for the next financial year atm, so that's pretty sucky. But at least the bub's here asleep behind me.
Kristy - you go girl! You really are an inspiration to me.
Danni - I feel for you, last night Pip cried all night, and kept pushing with his legs, I'm sure its a tummy thing too. Grrr.
Well today we haven't lost power, I was dozing on the recliner with Pip when DF woke up, and he filled a thermos with boiling water for me, in case we lose power with the severe winds we're having. Unfortunately the severe winds mean I didn't walk down the hill to the library, I just don't trust the trees around here.
Have a great day all, I'm back to wrestle with spreadsheets.
Hi girls,
Well we had another restless night (for me that is!!).I was up 4 times last night. Only twice to feed, but I still had to get up to settle little miss back to sleep the other times. Then we were up at 6.30 for the day :( . And it was sssoooooo freezing last night! I had the heater on low all night, which is something I never do, but when it came to bed time I was still cold and heard the temp was going to drop to -1, OMG!!! I was even cold in bed. Lily had on so many layers- singlet, spencer, jumpsuit, socks on hands and feet, hehe. She looked like the michelin man (or should I say baby...). Then there was the thousand layers of blankets on her. I'm lucky she can't move much yet. I was even cold in bed, I ended up putting on DH jumper since Lily spewed over my dressing gown...
nice.
Kristie, great idea to put the toys into seperate bags. Then the kids don't get bored of their toys and they get to use all of them. We did a similar thing at work with some general toys, especially for the little ones, they get bored of things quite easily.
Lily isn't rolling or grabbing anything yet. She doesn't even seem to be trying, Lazy little monkey! She's probably too chubby for her to get over to roll! She's still content to lay on the floor and chatter away, (she's such a chatter box) and look around.
Danii, Sorry to hear you have a migrane. I've got a headache today for the first time in ages, probably from a few days of little sleep. I'm not good with so little sleep and broken sleep.
Lily's been screaming out in her sleep too. I get so worried when she does it. She usually doesn't wake or anything, but just kind of screams/cries and then nothing??!! I always rush in thinking she must be hurting or something but there's nothing wrong. Just when I thought I had her figured out.....
Christy, arent lazy days nice? I love just sitting on the lounge and playing with bub.I love a good lazy day, just enjoying Lily, rather that runnign around like a headless chicken! If this is what the weather is like in England, I would hate it there! I hate winter, I think I'd freeze in England, LOL! I'm definately a warm weather girl.
I'm hoping her sleeping will go back, or improve from before, hehe wishful thinking... I think it is the 12 week storm, even though she's 13 wks.I think she's a week behind the chart thingy though. And no Hazel isn't the worst day sleeper, Lily is, she's had about 60 mins so far today. I don't know how she does it, having such broken sleeps in the night and then hardly sleeping in the day, I know I'm buggered anyway, hehe. But she's happy enough during the day so she seems to manage?!?
Krisalyss, sorry to hear Iggy is getting reflux. Lil had/has it, though now it isn't half as bad as it was. She's vomiting alot less and rarely screams after feeds anymore thank goodness. I hope he gets better soon.
Gee, he's a big boy at 7.5kgs! I haven't had Lily weighed for a while, I should go and do it. She's definately growing though, all of her clothes are getting tighter ;). And my back is killing me from carting her around everywhere.
Sorry to hear your dr made you upset too. My dr upset me a few weeks ago over bf and I sat down and had a really good chat to her and I think she understands a bit better now.
Susan, hi! Of course you can join us... as they say the more the merrier! I have one bub, Lily who is proving herself to be one cheeky little monkey...she take after her father, hehehehe!!
Melissa, I hope Olivia can get her harness off this time. It would be even harder for her to have to wear it in the warmer months, and although it is sooo cold now, it will warm up before we know it!
Kaz, Good luck with the finances, we did ours a few days ago and should get a pretty good retunn this year, wooohoo!
Doesn't the weather suck at the moment. Don't think its any better here in Sydney...it's not, though it soulds like it's windier there. It's been really cold here and a little windy.
Woa, this turned into quite an epic...LOL. That's cause DH is here to watch Lil.
Ok gotta go.
Thanks Melissa and 'hi' to everyone else. It will be fun to have other mums to chat to with babies Zayd's age, as I was a bit of a mother's group drop-out when my daughter was a baby (long story).
So, a bit about me and my little ones (it's all very unexciting, so feel free to skip it!): I'm 28 years old, and a university lecturer and PhD student at one of the main universities here in Melbourne, however I'm on maternity leave till next year, which is nice. I'm still trying to work out the whole childcare arrangement for my two littlies for next year and, frankly, it's doing my head in, so now I just avoid thinking about it. Avoidance!
Zayd was born on the 20 of April and is doing well. He's a little fatty! He's generally a pretty chilled baby, good sleeper, good eater, etc and would generally be described as 'easy'...until we get into the car. Then he turns into a screaming, hysterical mess. On a good day, we can get to the end of the driveway before he starts to cry. It's awful!! I've tried everything I can think of- changed car seats, extra padding, less padding, hung toys, taken toys away, a window shade, music, holding his hand while I drive (yeah, yeah, very safe, I know). Nothing helps and it makes for very tense, unpleasant driving each and every trip. I hate him being so upset and I get so tense and agitated when he's like that. My husband's cool. He just shrugs and says "What can we do?", which is completely correct, but I can't help being so bothered by it. I grind my teeth and my chest clenches up. Big stress out, basically. It would be nice to avoid going out all together, but the reality is, my 4 year old daughter has things to go to each week, like kinder twice a week, and swimming lessons, that are definitely too far to walk to, and I don't want us all to become hermits. It's a quandry. I only know of one other baby like this. And if one more person tells me "That's so weird! Our baby LOVES the car! We drove across the Nullabor with junior in the carseat the whole way and he never made a sound!" I will scream.
My four year old, Aisha, is fun and a cutey (I may be slightly biased), and was basically the antithesis of Zayd as a baby- awake all the time, waking regularly 5-6 times a night for 15 MONTHS, and just very excitable and highly strung. Even now, she's basically like a puppy. She just needs space to run around and be loud and generally be exuberant about everything!
Anyways, that's about it for us. Thanks for letting me come and board and I look forward to the discussion and cameraderie. I guess I should go back and read the preceeding 8 pages so I can get to know you all and your gorgeous babies!
Cheers,
Susan
pmsl Caro I am doing it again!!!!
Time for a new thread ladies...
