Hi Sammy, just missed your post. Sorry to hear you haven't been well. It sounds like Kaan is doing really well. Hazel still feeds a lot through the day but is a great night bsleeper so I'm not too worried! Our little bubbas are sure growing up!

Hi!
Sorry haven't been around for a while...just haven't seemed to have found enough time!
Everythings going well though...Dylans seems to be a whole heap more alert lately and is rolling on to his back each time I put him on his tummy the cheeky thing! He's still sicking a fair bit but it doesn't seem to be bothering him. The cheekiest thing he's doing is wanting me to rock him to sleep - grrr. Louis was like this and I really don't want to get him into the habit. I'm sure it's my fault putting him to bed when he's already a bit too tired...will have to try and put him down earlier tomorrow...
I had a super lazy weekend which was nice - got my sleep in on Sunday which I sooo look forward to each week! Raced around yesterday to swimming for Louis, the gym and dr's for Louis (nothing important) so today was nice and relaxing - it was beautiful here in Melbourne so I got the kids outside in the arvo - Dylan loved sitting out looking at the trees rusting around in the breeze - he was very excited. Louis loved running around as well!
Kaz - Hope the physio helped your back! LOl at ordering Harry potter - I'll buy and read them with Louis when he's a bit bigger I think! I haven't read any of them but have watched some of the movies...
Don't you dare feel guilty for having a baby that sleeps well - Just feel very lucky!!
Kel - So glad your feeling better- Silly dh for making you cry - it's funny when that happens though and they get a shock...it's hard when you feel so sensitive though - I've done it a million times!
Wow on the chiropractic check - how interesting! I'd be booking in as well! LOL. Actually I've been getting all sore in my shoulders again so I'm going to book in for a remedial massage next week. When I had a 15min one about a month ago I felt great for a good couple of weeks! It can make such a difference. I'm starting to get headaches again from them...
How nice is it to eat lunch in peace?? I always make sure Louis and I sit down at his little table each day and have lunch together!!
Don't stress about the weight gain! It's very easy to happen when you have a new bubba to look after - and winter as well!!! I'm sure you'll lose it!
Susan - It's hard isn't it - Thats fantastic he sleeps so well at night!!! I'm very jealous. Dylan wakes Alllll the time! hehe. Only feeds once but...I can understand it can do your head in with all the catnapping through the day but if it works for him...Dylans just starting to have longer naps - he had his first 1 1/2 one today without me having to go in and resettle him in the middle! Normally he has 1 1/2 in the am then 1 1/2 over lunch and a nap in the arvo...
I definitely wouldn't be control crying at 2 months!! Thats crazy!! Poor little munchkin would get so upset. Why should our babies have to fit in with routines etc?? It may just be the way he is until he gets a bit older and has 2 bigger naps??
Target sale is way worth it!!! LOL! Quite a few items for half price!!
Christy - Yeah on the day sleeps and the big night sleep!! Woohoo on the new couches as well - that was the first thing we did after we had Louis as well! LOL!
Brenda - the time just flies by in a blur thats for sure! Hope you pop in again soon!

Brenda - the time just flies by in a blur thats for sure! Hope you pop in again soon!
Sammy - Sorry to hear you've been so sick! Are you looking after yourself? Taking multivitamins?? Hope you feel better soon! Yep - I feed heaps as well...I'm really looking forward to solids so he's going to have something else in his tummy other than my milk - LOL!!
For those of you with "teething" bubbas - are you sure thats what it is??? Just tell me off if you want but it just seems unusual for them to teeth so young...I'd hate to see them being medicated when they don't really need it thats all...Feel free to put me in my place after that...LOL!!
After this epic - I'm off to chill out! Hope your all well - sweet dreams!!
Kriss - i agree with you. Kaan is also dribbling a lot lately, i asked the maternal nurse and she said that it was a sign that they are getting ready for solids - nothing to do with teething. Which makes sense, i think its normally way to early for teething anyways. Just my opinion.
My boy does have a cracked lip, i think becuase of the ducted heating - it dries his lips. Does anyone know if i can use anything??? The MN suggested some nipple cream. I did use it a few times but it didnt seem to do much.
Goodnite
Hi!
Had a shocker of a night - Dylan woke each hour!!! But luckily settled just with having his dummy in...'
Sammy - Thats no good on the cracked lip - ummm not sure what to use...it would be so hard to get anything to stay on their lips! Hopefully it heals up soon...otherwise vaseline or sorbolene maybe??
Off to the gym this morning...I've lost a kg finally! woohoo!!! (Still got about 3-5kg to go though!) It's a beautiful day in Melb today so will hopefully get out in it this arvo!
Hope you're well - chat later
hey everyone...mason has decided to have a night feed now and stay up and play.
this morning he woke at 2:30 and didnt go down till 4am, and yesterday morning was 4:30-6. He will always go down exactly 90 mins after. grrr
what happened to going straight back to sleep after his feeds?
things are good here. Have started reading daily to him and he LOVES it. Although he hates tummy time and i am worried about that. I just dont put him anymore..
Hi!
Danni - bugger about the wake ups - I'm sure he'll settle down soon...with tummy time - Louis always hated it until he was better at it...I would still put him down even if it's only for a minute and he'll get better as time goes on!!
He lifts his head, then puts it down. Then lifts it again and screams. :(
Maybe Dylan can teach Mason. Im gunna see you guys on Thurs!
Hi everyone,
well we are off to playgroup for the first time today. I have a friend who goes there and so does my SIL with my niece, so I already have people I know!! I'm looking forward to it actually.
Christy, yep the day sleeps seem to be settling, though she has good dys and bad. At least she goes to sleep now!! That's great that Hazel likes her swing. My mum has one and Lil's not so keen on it. She sits for a while, but eventually ends up crying....
How did your job interview go?
Woohoo on getting new furniture!!
Kaz, I looked on the tube the other day and it does say for over 4 mths, so I haven't used it again. But the nurofen is ok. I only use it when she is unbearably upset.
Ok gotta go the little miss is calling ...be back later
Hi All,
Sorry ive been MIA, been busy. We had Adams birthday on Saturday and had a turn out of 70 people! Lucky my mum and aunty had cooked loads of food. Had a great time, but was very tired and Olivia wouldnt sleep with people noise, so I went to bed with her at 1230am. Shes fine with music and Adams tool noise, but definately not people.
As for the sleeping, shes been a little princess. 2 nights ago she has decided that she would go down at 830pm and wakes up around 5am for a feed and then back down til about 9am. I honestly cant believe my luck, especially with all the initial troubles with sleeping. AND shes still napping throughout the day:) Makes for a happy me! I went swimming this morning. First time since I was 34 weeks pregnant. I felt great. Am looking to put Olivia into creche there so I can do it more often.
We are off to Phantom of the Opera tonight... got some tickets for Adams birthday. My mum is looking after Olivia, so we can have a romantic dinner first. I cant wait. Also see our MCH nurse today for a weigh in... that means vaccinations next week. I cant believe shes already 16 weeks old!!! And we had hip ultrasound yesterday and things are looking great, however there is still some rounding of the joint, so am not getting my hopes up for the harness to come off. We see the specialist on 2nd of August.
Wow i've just written heaps, sorry i havent done personals, hope you are all great.
Take care
Love Melissa
g'day lovely ladies!
Well today's been toxic, I had to rock him to sleep last night around midnight, then he woke (and self-settled) at 4am, 5:15 and 6:30 ... then woke up gurgling and happy at 10am ... didn't want food until 11:30 though (how weird). Since then, he's been a terror.
Trev's home from work now, and walked in to dishes half-done, toys everywhere and me swinging the baby cocoon. Bet that they're watching teev together, which means Trev will fall asleep and hopefully the baby will too.
Is it possible for them to over-sleep?
Kellie - yay on the playgroup, how did it go?
Danni - try doing his "tummy time" on your lap, or reclined on your chest on the bed. So he has to look at your face? That really helped Pip.
Kris - hehe on the rolling, that's what Pip's doing now. First time he suprised himself! But now I'm making it hard for him, I put him on his tummy with his hands by his side, and he pulls his arms forward, then leans up before he rolls. I'm so mean, but its great to see him develop.
Melissa - great news on the swimming, enjoy the Phantom! Where are you swimming?
Sammy - are you able to use paw-paw cream on his lips? I've been using it on my lips, and I know you can use it on nipples, so that may be OK? Pip has a sucking blister which sorta sux. Great to "see" you!
Christie - how was the interview? And yes, I'm going to have to do the same as you I think ...
It is still soo quiet in here! You must all be busy bees!!
Well we had a wonderful day! Lily went to bed at 6.00 last night and woke at 5.45 (too early for me but hey I have to take what I can get!) with one feed at 1.30. Then she went back down at 8 til 10 then 1200 til 230 and again at 400 til 445 and she's back in bed now! OMG I hope she keeps this up! Mind you getting her to bed for the night took three tries to put her down and her screaming like I was pulling out her fingernails....going down for her day sleeps she was sooo good, I patted her for a few mins then put her down in her COT, not her cradle! I am so proud of her! I really, really hope she keeps this up, what a perfect day :) .
Ok so to start off where I ended yesterday....
Kaz, the bonjela says not for under 4mths, so I have just used nurofen if I needed. She's been good for the past few days, even though her gums have been red and swollen. She has been drooling like no tomorrow too and gnawing on her thumbs and hands. Fancy the nurse telling you that and leaving you hanging...what a dummy! Hehe.
You're a lucky girl with Patrick sleeping so well don't feel guilty, just don't gloat, LOL! You should be proud, I was today with Lily sleeping so well (can you tell)! (Ok, just read your last post properly, maybe you jinxed yourself with Patricks sleeping, hehe. I do it all the time....you watch, tomorrow Lily won't sleep a wink, I bet! My house usually looks how your say yours did everyday! I have to tidy up when Lilys asleep or when DH take her out!
Playgroup was good, well Lily can't actually 'do' anything of course, but it was good to catch up with my friend and see her little man...he's getting soo big, they grow too fast! He just starting to walk, so cute! And I met some new people too. Lily also seemed to like to watch the kids playing, her eyes were darting everywhere.
Ok this is an epic, I'm going now if you made it this far, good on you!!! Hehehe...I talk too much!
Bye, bye, sleep tight!
Alright where did it go???..... there was a whole heap more in between what is written up there....grrrr I HATE this computer!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Wow it is quiet in here.... hello?
Phantom was great, Olivia now weighs 6.3kgs and am swimmining at Oasis in Dandenong. Am using bonjella on Olivia...
Sorry, Olivia is chewing my fingers and has conjunctivitis.. again
got to run
love melissa
Good evening!
Melissa- poor little Olivia, I hope her conjunctivitus clears up soon. Are you swimming with her? I would love to take Hazel soon.
Kel- Yay on such a great sleep. Fingers crossed it happens again tonight!
Kaz- hope today has been a better one for you! Am also hanging out to read Harry Potter but will wait untilmy cousin has finished her copy and save myself 20 bucks!
Well I got the job, hooray. I start on the 6th of august just 2 afternoons a week. They are really nice and the little girl is a sweetie so I am really pleased! Had a great sleep last night, just one feed at 3am then in to bed with me at 6 and more sleep til 8.30. Went to an ABA new mothers meeting today which was really nice and informative but I think I like the social aspect best. Had a coffee with another mum who just live around the road from us and who had her baby at the BC with the same midwife who delivered Hazel! The midwife had given her my number so we could get together but we met before she'd had a chance to call me! It was fun to share our birth stories and we plan to get together for coffee and walks. Am also going to go to see the new Harry Potter at a Babes In Arms showing on wed with some of the ladies I met at the HC info thing last week. Yay, I'm making some friends and my week is beginning to fill up. Have designated Thursdays as a stay at home and veg day though. Think you need one of them each week. DH has decided not to work tommorow so I'm going to go and do a pilates class at the gym and I've been really good as afr as nibbling biscuits go this week!
Take care all and hope everyone is doing well x
Hi girls,
We're back from our holiday and had a fantastic time. I could go on and on, but you can check the boys' blogs for pics and the general story if you're interested.
Matt has been quite refluxy over the past couple of weeks. Certainly the most unsettled he's ever been with lots of feeds (ie every 3 hours) and then quite spewy too. He's gaining weight but I worry I may be overfeeding him. Can that be possible? I would love him to sleep better at night without getting all those night feeds, but I don't have the heart to let him cry and tbh it really isn't a big deal to feed him anyway. But does he really need it?
When do we start them on solids? I reckon he must be hungry. He's a big boy - possibly hovering ariund 7kgs now. will be seeing the MCHN in a couple of weeks but may call her in the coming week to suss out when to start him. He's showing all the signs he may be ready - lots of salivating, watching us eat, eating his hands, bringing things up to his mouth. I don't see any signs of teeth yet, unlike some of you.
Great to read that some of your bubs are settled in to good nights of sleep. We look forward to that happening too!
Hi!
Wow - it has been quiet in here! We've been super busy! Dylan had a couple of really rotten nights waking every hour or so - grrr but seems to have settled down again a little now! He usually wakes up once for a dummy before his early am feed (2-3am usually) then wakes up sometime after that for another burp and then usually wakes around 6am ish and I bring him into bed with me to stretch him out until Louis wakes! He's just getting such a big boy now! It's just so amazing how quickly they grow! I'm getting lots of his funny giggles which is nice as well!
Kel - Hope you had fun at playgroup! Wow at the great sleeps!! Bugger at losing your post - it's soooo annoying!
Melissa - Wow on such a big party - we wouldn't fit that many people in our house! LOL! Louis never did well when we had people over - I think it's because it's not just constant noise usually there may be one person that yells out or laughs loudly so it startles them iykwim?
Glad Olivias sleeping well! Good for you going swimming! Hope you had a fantastic night out!! Cross fingers that her harness can come off!
Sorry to hear she has conjunct. Hope it's all better soon! Wow what a good weight!!
Kaz - Sorry to hear you've had a rough time...sounds like he's got his times mixed up a bit! Hope you can sort it out. Yes! They can oversleep - whenever Dylan has either more than 3 day sleeps or more than about 3-4h naps through the day he won't go to bed at 7pm - or anywhere near it for that matter - he usually stays up until 9 or 10pm!!!
But each bubbas sleep requirements are different...you just need to work out what works best for him (and you!)
Thats good that you make it hard for him! I cheat and put Dylans arms up for him - he's so lazy and can't seem to get them up...I hoep he works it out soon! LOL!
Caro - How are you going? and Michael? Hope you're well!
Christy - I was told to start them swimming at 6 months...saying that I took Louis in from about 4 1/2 months and we had 2 swims with him..they just say they're immune system and ears aren't that great yet.. also when Louis was that age it was summer and nice and warm - not so many germs around ifykwim? I'm going to start Dylan Term 1 next year!
Congratulations on getting the job! Thats great! Sounds like you're having a great time socialising! It is fun to get out and about! Yeah for going to the gym! I've been pushing myself to go and I always feel so good for it afterwards!
Deb - Yeah! Glad you had a great trip! Thats fantastic! Dylan chucks up all the time...doesn't seem to be in pain for it though so I haven't worried too much - just seems to be a chucky baby...So he feeds 3 hourly overnight?? Thats no good...more for you than him probably! LOL! I'll prob start Dylan on solids when he reaches 4 months...I know the recommendation isn't until 6 months but I say if they take to it well and seem hungry then do it earlier! As long as you start off slowly with all the good foods I can't see it being too much of a problem. A baby isn't going to eat if they're not hungry...I started Louis at 4 months and he was only quite a small baby but he just gobbled it all up - loved it from the word go!! So I don't regret starting him early and he hasn't had any health issues at all! Anyway...it's a very personal choice and you know your baby the best...You can always try and see how he goes anyway??
Gotta run - chat later!
Thanks for that info Caro. Hope Michael has a lovely christening.
HI Krisite - I think I started Al around 4 months too, now I think about it. He was fine (still is). I just know once I start feeding him you can't go backwards..its food food and more food until we kick them out of home in 20 years hey lol.
Will still wait and see what my mchn recommends, wouldn't want her offside (because she is my guru lol).
Has anyone started doing a comp formula feed around bedtime? I was thinking about that as an option to starting solids too. Also, is anyone using a cup rather than a bottle already?
Hey just a quick one from me today...
congrats Christy on getting the job. I dont take Olivia swimming just yet, but if her harness comes off then I will think about it. They dont do swimming lessons til 6 months. I know she will enjoy it, she loves the bath and loves it even more when we pop her on her tummy in the bath.
Kristie, I have only used the Bonjella occassionally. I know its early for teething, so I checked it out when we saw our MCHN. She had a look and pointed out that Olivias bottom teeth look like they will come up as they are lumpy and she naws(sp) on her fist, my fingers, her dummy, her bottle, and she dribbling a fair bit. In saying that, I realise it could take a while for them to come through, thats why I only use it rarely.
Hey Deb, am glad you had a great time. Am going to feed Livy solids when shes a bit older (6 months) she doesnt look any where near ready for it just yet, but I guess you know when your bub is ready... and the MCHN said not to, and as this is my first, I think I will stick to the rules a bit more closer, maybe with the next one I'll experiment more!!!
Hey Caro, glad you are feeling better. Have a great time at Michaels Christening, looking forward to seeing some pics:)
Hi to everyone else... sorry, I havent gone back to the last pages, but have been following. Hope you are all well.
Love Melissa
Hi everyone,
We are back from Perth, what a trip!!! It was cold, wet & miserable the entire time I was there. Whilst DH was at his work course I was stuck in the Hotel most of the day as I couldn't even go out walking. But we did get lots of shopping in, YAY!! Have most of my Christmas shopping organised, have some new clothes just need to shed some KG'S!!! Charlie has some great clothes too.
We got back this morning, very tired after a 12hr drive, I have the flu & Charlie has conjunctavitis - Oh does it never end the poor dear. Well he was great in the car & whilst we where there, even though sick he slept well etc, very proud of him.
Deb I just bought Charlie a cup whilst in Perth, will try giving him water from it. I'm told they will drink water better from a cup than bottle as they expect milk in the bottle....not sure how true that is but will give it a go. Re: Solids issue, I think it's something we all make our own decision on - there are foods out there that say from 4months+, I figure they wouldn't be available if you couldn't start then.
Charlie dribbles heaps too, when I saw the midwife last week she said it's very normal at this age as they don't know how to control it yet & won't for at least another 5 to 6wks, it's nothing to do with teething so not sure how you are really ever meant to know except for when you see the lumps. I've got some gel that is only sold in the WCH in SA & you can only buy one bottle at a time, I hear it's the best but am yet to use it. Although DH likes to try everything & he put some in his mouth & said it went completely numb LOL so imagine what it's like for bubs.
Sorry haven't got time to check all the posts recently, I'm sooooo tired I'm going to bed. Hope you are all well, thanks for your well wishes before we went away. Oh yeah & the advice on Nurofen...I picked some up & the pharmacist said only use if absolutely necessary or stick to panadol & don't use if bubs has something that will dehydrate them like gastro.
Ok got to go, talk to you all again soon. Hope all bubs are sleeping well, and hope those of you who are or have been unwell feel much better.

Hello everyone, wow it's still pretty quiet around here....has everyone forgotten us?? :(
Well we have had a lovely weekend. DH gave me a day to sleep in last night, getting up to Lily both through the night and kn the morning. I still woke up even though I didn't need to, grrr! But it was nice not to have to get up. I only slept until 7.30 too...
I have been very spoilt over the past few days too, DH brought me some flowers the other day, some red and white gerbera's which were the flowers we had for our wedding. Then he made me breakky yesterday and he brought me a handbag! It's a very nice one too, he always manages to get me the perfect things! I'm a lucky girl, no whinging about him today, hehehe...
I got my tax return and it was alot more than I expected. DH got a fair bit too so now I can stay home for the year as we had planned. It will be tight, but I don't care, I get to stay home with my bubba! I also have enough to spare to get a gym membership, so bye bye baby-butt!
I got my last subjects from my uni this week too (I am studying via correspondence and have two more subjects to go.) After deffering for a year I am nervous about getting back into studying, especially with Lily, though it will be good too once I get organised...
Lily has been really good. Her teeth have settled for now so no more grumpy Lil. She has been sleeping heaps better in the day time, going for up to an hour most times, but some days we even get up to 2 or 3 hours!!! :D She has been having one or two full feeds on the breast too (wooohooo!!!) and only taking about 120mls at the other feeds after a bf. She gets so excited when she sees my bbs and kicks her legs in excitement and breathes fast. She's getting cuter by the day (yes I am extremely biased!!!) She loves a chat and will have a conversation with me in her sweet little voice. She's getting there with the rolling and can almost make it over onto her tummy. She can grab the low toys on her playgym and loves to munch on them. When they make it to her mouth that is, hehe. OOOHHH I love her sooo much!!!!!!
Caro, the photo in your ticker is very cute, Michael is getting chubby! Glad to hear you;re better. How did the christening go?
Christy, congrats on the job! Hope it goes well for you. I;ve been pretty good with my eating too, it's hard being at home all day though...
Deb, welcome back, gee that time flew! Sorry to hear Mattias has had reflux. Glad to hear your holiday was good.
Kristie, sorry to hear Dylans been unsettled. I hope he's been a good boy for you. Playgroup was good, though Lily slept through half of it! It was good to catch up with my friend there, and make new ones.
Melissa, we have teething here too, and it's the 'fangs' as well. Lily has been one grumpy monkey the last few days, especially at night just before bed time of course! Though the last two days have been good. My mchn said it could be a while before they come up. Yayyy, something to look forward to- not!
Ok gonna go, hope this silly computer doesn't eat this post....
Night, night!
Erin. I just missed your post. Glad to hear you had a good time shopping in Perth. Not so good that you and Charlie aren't well. I hope you feel better soon.
Hi Everyone!
Oh my god how I have missed everybody -
I have just logged on in the first time in ages as I have resigned from my job on Friday (I couldnt deal with the *****y fashion crowd anymore - not with beautiful bubba here) so i am back in full force now! Instead of my laptop glaring at me to check emails it will now be full of belly belly joy yipee!!!!
I am going to devote Beau's next big sleep to reading through all the missed posts so I will do personals soon....love you guys glad to be back!
Wooohooo Jen, You sound liberated!! :D
Hi Ladies. Been MIA for a few days but had a fairly busy weekend with REALLY bad sleep! Little girl has been waking up pretty much every two hours for the last few nights and I must say I have forgotten allready how tired that makes you. I think she must be going through a physical growth spurt, hopefully won't last too long! I am rejoicing at the moment because Hazel is asleep in her swing and is on to her second sleep cycle after a tiny grizzle. Yay. Hope this happens every day, I've made dinner and DH's lunch for tommorrow and now actually have half an hour (or more hopefully) to myself!
Jen- that's amazing news!!!! I bet you never imagined it would happen pre-Beau but these little people sure change your life. I am so so pleased for you and can't wait to 'chat' more often!
Kel- that is also great news about you definately being able to stay home! And cool that you can join the gym- I am so glad I did it not just to get a bit fitter but to get me out of the house and give my day some structure. Lucky you getting spoiled by your DH!! Lily's sleeps sound fabulous and you seem like a very happy girl at the mo!
Deb- I'm so glad you had a great holiday- I will check out your blogs when I get a chance- I love hearing about people's adventures. Re. the solids opinions. I think as in most things all babies are different and it's best to follow their lead and they will tell us when they're ready. A friend of mine in the UK has just started introducing solids to her 5 and a half month old because her DD was absolutley desperate to get her hands on food and had decided she didn't want booby any more (which kind of broke my friend's heart). I would see what you HCN says and play it by ear from there!
Erin- so glad you made it home safe and sound but boo to being sick and boo to bad weather! I hope you had a good time anyway and it sounds like Charlie was a wonder. Hope you got a lovely nigh's sleep last night
Kris- Sounds like you've been busy! Hope Dylan's sleep settles down, they just keep you guessing don't they! Will you take Dylan to proper swimming lessons or just with you?
Ok- that's Hazel shouting out for me- doing her 'I am awake come and get me' shout- so cute. So I'd better go and fetch her. Lots of love all x
Yoooo-Hooooo!! Where is everybody?
We had another rubbish night! She woke up at 12 then 2.30 for feeds, then again at 3.40 but I decided to let her have a whinge (just little half asleep grizzle- I wouldn't leave her if she was REALLY crying) and she went back off to sleep pretty quickly. She did the same at some point- didn't look at the time- and went back off to sleep again. Then woke up 'properly' at 5, had a feed then back to sleep til 8.30. So basically I think she must be entering a new phase in her development and is surfacing a bit more between sleep cycles. I think I will leave her to grizzle a bit more, especially at the earlier times because I know she can go through to nearly 4 without a feed. Fingers crossed. The only other thing it could be is the little rash she has on her girly bits. It's been there afew days and maybe it gets a bit sore through the night?! I think I'm going to book her in to the docs to check it out anyway because it's not going away and I read somewhere that you should see a doc if it lasts more than a few days, which it has.
Hope all is well with the Mummas and the Bubbas x
It is very quiet in here!
Well I have a grizzly girl too and I was looking at my chart on the fridge... we are up to the 17 week stormy period (wish I had the book). Also Olivia STILL has conjunctivitis and its not getting any better. I booked her into the doctors tomorrow for a check up coz she is also due for her 4 month immunisations, so I want to make sure she is ok, coz Adam has been sick with the flu for the past week. Oh and 2 more sleeps til we see the specialist... but whos counting?!?!?!?
Hope you are all well.
Love Melissa
Hi ladies
I have a grizzly boy at night as well. Last night we moved him into his bed in his own room and he was up a few times (twice for a feed) and twice just grizzly ,back to sleep after a quick pat. I dont think its the bed, cos he has been sleeping in there during the days with no problems. Maybe he is going through a 'phase'. Its a little upsetting since we were only doing one night feed for a while. Oh well hopefully we can go back to that soon!!!! Broken sleep is a killer..........
We have booked a fiji holiday for November, I am very excited but also a little anxious, not sure how Kaan will be on holidays. He will be 7 months and i am already stressing over what i will need to take for him.
Hope everyone is well
Wow it is quiet.
Sounds like we all have grizzly bubs. After driving home from Perth, having not slept for 24hrs & got the flu Charlie has started to wake regularly during the night to feed again. I've tried to settle but it's not working!!! ahhhh, I know he can go 9hrs without a feed. My theory is the thickend formula comes out of the teat slower, therefore he is not drinking as much....he only drinks about 120ml - 150ml. He can't handle the variable teats, have tried several times & woolworths doesn't stock the 3month+ teats up here. So i've decided I'm going to poke my own holes in the teats & see how that goes. I need more sleep!!!!!!!!!
Melissa, have you used any ointment for the conjunctavitis?? Charlie just had it, we took him to the doc right away & got some ointment & it was clear in a day. Goodluck with the specialist app.
Sammy, good on you for booking the holiday. I was anxious just spending a week in Perth, especially cause we had to share a hotel room - wasn't sure how it was going to go. But all was well. I'm sure you'll have a great time.
We found out DH has to work night shift over the Christmas period which is no fun for us as we have no family up here & he will either be working or sleeping....so DH has decided I should go back home (to SA) for Chrissy. I'm so stoked, can't wait to see everyone. YAY!!!!
Ok must go, DH & Charlie are both sleeping....I have started mini scrapbook as a pressie for my Mum, all of Charlie of course - haven't done much yet, should get cracking.
Hope to hear from you all soon.

Hi girls,
Well we had an unsettled night too. Lily woke went to bed at 8.30, woke at 10.30 was awake for an hour and had a bf, woke at 2.30 had a bottle, woke at 5.30 had another bottle and was awake for an hour then slept until 8. I was so tired yesterday too, of course she mucked up when I wanted an early night! We managed a sleep together for an hour and a half today on the lounge though, so that was good.
Christy, it feels good when they sleep and you can actually do things huh?! I swear there's some days when Lily won't sleep, when my dh comes home and looks around the house and looks like he's thinking 'What have you done all day?!!' He's smart enough not to actually ask me that though!
Maybe the rash Hazel has is thrush? Lily had it a while ago. I asked the pharmasist and he gave use some average old thrush cream to use and it was gone in a day.
Melissa, sorry to hear Olivia still has conjunctivitis. There is a type that you can get that isn't normal conjunctivitis and needs antibiotics to clear it, maybe she has that? I hope it goes away soon.
Sammy, I'm jealous about the holiday! Fiji sounds wonderful!!
Erin, your scrapbook sounds lovely. I have done something similar for my in laws who live in north Qld. But I make a few pages every month or so for them to put into the album and that way they can keep up to date with her.
Well we had a busy day today, did some grocery shopping which we needed since it's been almost 3 wks since we shopped! I left Lily at mums while we shopped. Then we went to see my girlfriends and their bubs, who are 16 and 17mths old, and found out one of them is 11wks pg again!! :) We had lunch there and then went to see people at my old work. I met my bosses' bub Annika, who was born the day before Lily. Then we came home and both fell asleep on the lounge!!
Ok gonna go, night!!
Well, at least the 4 month vaccinations are over... that was worse than the 2 month ones, she just cried and cried and has been all grizzly. I finally got her off to sleep after some panadol and a feed. I had a little tear in my eye. I felt bad, coz the doctor made me hold her against my chest and she kept squirming. Oh well, its over with, good luck to all those coming up.
Guess what, Lily slept for 9 hours last night!!!!!!!!!! Wooohooooo!
Mind you I woke up at 2.30 when she normally wakes, then at 3.30, had to get up and touch her to make sure she was ok, 5.00 again checked on her and she woke at 5.30, had a feed, then slept again til 7. I'm so proud of my little girl!!! :D
Duh!!! Still got baby brain.......well that's my excuse anyway ;) hehe
Hi!
Well I've had a full on few days...Monday night Louis threw up the whole night and last night was very unsettled. Caught a bug from the bbq we were at (half the kids got it) the poor little thing. Luckily Dylan hasn't got it at this stage! He's actually been sleeping quite well luckily - only waking a few times through Louis cries when he was sick. Last night I fed him at 9.30pm and then didn't feed him again until 6am! I think I only popped the dummy in once overnight as well. Then he went back to sleep until 8.15am! The only thing is he's up quite late...doesn't want to go to sleep at 7pm anymore...usually up to 9 or 10pm which is a bit annoying but nevermind. He actually self settled for his morning nap today which was great - he hasn't done that for a while - and had a big 1 1/2h without needed to be settled in the middle which was nice!
Anyway...
Caro - I understand where your coming from with the solids..each to they're own I say!! Wow you have a busy time coming up!
Deb - Thats true! They certainly can eat a lot! Imagine what they'll be like when they're teenagers - LOL! I've been giving Dylan a spoonful of breastmilk to see how he goes and he swallows it down no problems - screws his face up when I first put the spoon in though - LOL! Nup..no formula feeding here...I've bought a water bottle but haven't used it on him yet...
Erin - Glad you had a good time - Pity about the weather and that you're sick -hope your feeling better now! Yeah on the shopping! Thats great that you can spend chrissy with your family - sure beats being home alone if your hubby has to work so much!
Kel - Glad you got a sleep in! Yeah on being so spoilt by dh! Thats fanastic you'll be staying home as well! Oooh aren't the bubs just gorgeous at this age? (yes they're gorgeous at every age but ykwim?) They're little personalities are just starting to show! That sounds nice having a snooze with your bubba - hope she sleeps better for you tonight! Sounds like you had a great day! Yeah on the great sleep...
JenSam - Thats fantastic news!!! Wow - you're the last person I would have imagined to resign from your work but good for you!! It's amazing how these little bubbas change our lives!
Christy - Sorry to hear about the sleep issues - I know all about it! LOL! Louis has decided to wake up every hour at the moment so Dylans actually easier! Crazy! Isn't it nice when they decide to sleep longer than 45min themselves? Yep - I'll probably do proper swimming lessons next year but just take him for visits myself in a couple of months time...
Is it just nappy rash she's got?? Have you tried zinc cream?? Hopefully she gets all better soon...
Melissa - Poor Olivia with the conjuncitivitis - Hope the check up with the specialist goes/went well!! Bugger about the immunisations..I'm not looking forward to those again!
Sammy - bugger about the sleep! Wow on the holiday - thats great - he'll be fine over there I'm sure!!
Sorry if this post's all over the place - I've been adding to it all day as I read through the posts...Hope your all well - I'm off to bed!!!
Howdy All.
Well, Hazel has decided to start sleeping properly again, thank goodness. I put her in her sleeping bag 2 nights ago and didn't wrap her and she woke up at 10.30. Then I wrapped just her top half and she then slept through til 5 without even grizzling! Then last night I tried to get her down without wrapping her but she wasn't having a bar of it so I ended up wrapping her again and she slept til 2 then 5. I really like the 10.30 to 5 sleep though so I think I will persevere with trying to put her down unwrapped at first. When I tried to dream feed her at 10 she just woke as per normal, but if she wakes herself up.......will see what happens! I got some cream for her nappy rash, which should clear it up pretty quickly.
I meant to do personals as Hazel was happily having a nappy free kick on her blanket (and spinning around and around onit- and NEARLY rolling over, well at least practicing!) but she is having a whinge now so I'd better go and see to her. Hope all is well x
Hi girls,
No time for personals today, I MUST MUST MUST study!!!! And clean the house a bit since DH goes back to work tomorrow after having 3 days off.
Well, we didn't get another 9 hr sleep last night, but we did get 7, which is great too. But she woke at 5.30 again!! She did go back to sleep after a bit of a play, about 20 mins, thank goodness.
Lily rolled over last night! I was so proud of her! She seems to be learning heaps and changing alot in the past week or so, it's amazing how the penny just seems to drop for them and all of a sudden they 'get' things, IYKWIM.
Ok gotta go and put out a load of washing then sit down and do some uni work... oh the joys!
Hi!
Christy - I wouldn't stress about not wrapping Hazel yet...I'm still wrapping Dyland and I wrapped Louis until he was around 6 months + old! There's no right or wrong with it...
Kel - Yeah on Lily rolling over!! Wow - you're getting some great sleeps there! Thats fantastic - hope you get your studying done!
Caro - Good point..I know it's always hard when bubs start waking up for more frequent feeds when you know they can go longer...I definitley struggle with it but it usually is for a reason!
I'm going to stay out of the solids debate as you know my pov! hehehe.
Dylans well - seems healthy which is good after Louis being so sick! He's all better as well today which is good! Went to the shops today...it's such a trap for me. Bought Louis a whole heap more stuff. I'll have to get Louis' old size 0 stuff out soon and see what summer gear he has and what I'll need to buy...I assume he'll be in it from about 6 months as he's spot on average size to date...So just in time for summer. All the gorgeous bonds gear's out - I bought Louis some shorts and t-shirts today (kmart has 20% off) so will have to see whats around for Dylan!!
Chat later!
Caro - 4 months is the recommendation for solids here in Denmark too, although everyone is encouraged to continue to breastfeed for longer. I think the main thing is as you say, that people make informed decisions and do what they feel is best for their children. We can only do our best.
Hi girls,
Just a quick one from me coz Adam is playing/fixing coputers and i have to get off his.... Olivia went well, shes allowed to have the harness off during the day and has to wear it overnight for the next 8 weeks, just to make sure the hip is stable enough. Adam and I are so happy and olivia is just excited. So hopefully she can start doing a few things like kicking her legs in the air, maybe touching her toes and maybe rolling and standing up on my lap and bouncing... all those little things. And I get to put jeans on her:) Anyway. I hope you are all well.
Love melissa
You may not be trying to put anyone off side, however since this is directed at me I would like to clear a few things up.:
Okay I will say right up front I dont want to get anyone off side its not my intent but can I just say a few things please ?
re Absolutely we as mothers have to make our own decisions but usually its better to make informed and educated ones with the full facts I always find :)
The reason that there are packaging out there with *from 4mths* is not because its okay to start them but rather inept lax reasons as in NewZealand doesnt follow the WHO Guidelines of from 6mths so hence the solids are labeled from 4mths
But Australia does follow the WHO Recommendations which is from 6tmhs
In regards to poking holes in your own teats I dont know if that is advisable ? If your baby is not sleeping through the night but *can go 9hours* its because they are probably going through a growth spurt.
We all make different decisons in regards to our bubs, often we not be right & often we will not be wrong. They are unable to speak for themselve's and we all do the best we can. We do not all have everything available to us that we need & we do the best we can. We will never have it 100% correct, I would like to meet the person who does!! However I would never put my baby in any danger or do something that was a huge risk of harming him!! I am a first time mum & I'm do keep informed with everything, though there are so many different bits of information available we won't always get the right or best information. I question myself each & every time I do or change something and always look into it. I would NEVER make a decision un-informed!
Having said that, in regards to solids - as with everything it is each to their own as I previously stated. I was just trying to say that if it was a definate NO, NO, do not ever go there under any circumstances before 6months+ then in my opinion it wouldn't be available at all. We will all read different books, check different websites & so on. Each one a contradiction to the other & many giving different opinions - all we can do is sift through it all & make the decision we as an individual think is best. If for some reason someone wishes to start on solids prior to 6months (obviously not before 4months), then that's their decision & it's not unheard of. I would also just like to state that Heinz baby food is packaged in Echuca, VIC not O/S!!!
With regards to the teats. Firstly I do know what a growth spurt is. The fact that he is now drinking less out of the bottle & not screaming for more definately does not indicate a growth spurt to me. Charlie was on S26 Gold since approx 4wks old & hasn't woken up every 3-4hrs for a feed since about 8wks - since starting on a thickened formula 3wks ago he gets tired drinking as it comes out of the size 2 teats very slow, therefore he doesn't drink at all as much. To me it seems his making up for lost food by waking again every so many hours during the night without being able to be settled. The few times I've been able to get him to drink more, he has slept longer so I believe that's the issue. Like everyone else things change so often I am just trying to figure out the cause. And like someone else stated, it's usually for a reason.
Anyway, I am unable to get the size 3 teats up here, Woolworths doesn't stock them (our only shop!!!!) so on advice from the CHN I was going to poke ONE more hole in the teat. Obviously testing with one first.
I'm sorry if I've put anyone off side now, but I did feel that was a bit of a go so I just wanted to clear it up. I would never do anything that would seriously harm Charlie & I don't plan on starting solids either. I was just having an opinion & feel i've been shot down (so to speak) for that.
Again sorry if I put anyone off side, but as you've all said we make our own decisions & I'm doing the best I can.

Hi!
Just got back from a 1/2 hour massage! Aaahhh bliss! Am booking in again soon but it will be for an hour definitley!!
Melissa - Thats fantastic news!! Woohoo! LOL on getting her into jeans!
Caro - I agree - some people feed their kids rubbish!! I'm not opposed to 4m feeding but am definitely if they get fed crap...
Erin - Big hugs! You are 100% correct - you know your baby better than anyone and of course you would never do anything to harm him...You sound like a very caring, loving Mummy who is doing a fantastic job with your bubba! It sounds like you're definitely doing the best by your little man! You sound very confident in your choices which is great - I was definitely not like that with Louis - and it's the best thing for you both!! I hope you get a good nights sleep!!
hey guys...please remember everyone is entitled to their own opinions and to make their own choices.
We are all mothers, and doing a damn good job :)
I have a migraine, so sorry for no personals. Mason has decided to wake once each night this week. He is feeding and going straight back down so i cant complain. Trying to get him to have another arvo sleep so he can go to bed later. He kept waking up at 5:30 :(
good night xx
