Morning All,
Its going to be a lovely 25 here in Melbourne, yay i love this weather. Yesterday we bought Olivia a high chair, the one that sits on your dining room chair. Its great and she loved sitting in it while we ate and I loved eating with both my hands, except towards the end when she got a bit tired and kept slumping down! I got a pretty good sleep last night, moo was asleep at 9pm and i got to bed by about 10 and woke up to her until 7am. The night before she did the same, except every few hours she would cry in her sleep... it was very strange, but she stopped as soon as I put the dummy in.
Have a busy week this week... tax, mothers group and 5 month check up for Olivia. Actually, its not that busy....
Hope you are all well
Love Melissa
Sorry Mel and Christy-
Why did I write that? Can I still blame baby brain?!?
Kris - hope your training goes well and you can get some rest the night before so you can concentrate...
We had a nice "just family" weekend around here so it was nice, but I still feel tired this morning, Beau was unsetled yesterday arvo/night much to DH's chagrin as he wanted to watch the footy, so there was much rocking and singing in Beau's nursery...I wore bubs in a sling this morning while I tried to get the washing in - does anyone else "wear" bubs around the house in something? I have a baby bjorn too - but it sticks out pretty far and he gets in the way!
Ok sorry again for the name mix up girls!
xx
i used to wear him in a peanut shell sling but he is just too heavy now. had to have him in it the whole grocery shop as i could not find a baby shop trolley!! walked around car park even. back was NOT happy after that. but he was, fell asleep.
we have 4 month shots this week. no doubt he will hate me for that! will start giving him his spray from the naturopath tomorrow. worked well last time he only got a tiny temp. whichwas fixed with his ABC drops and braur's fever med.
lucky u mel with olivia starting to get into a nice sleep pattern!
jen- i dont think your brain ever fully recovers whilst they are still bubies
God I agree! I think sometimes my brain came out with him....
DH wore Beau in the Baby Bjorn on an hour walk on Sunday and felt the 7kg I complain about....he he
Beau has slept a total of 1hour today - he is down now for the 4th time...fingers crossed x
Hey Jen... thats ok, I still suffer from baby brain, well thats my excuse anyway!!!! I wear Olivia in a baby bjorn too, but I also find that she gets in the way if I want to do things. Can it be worn on our backs? I wouldnt feel confident doing that, but that would deal with the issue. An hours walk wearing bubs, am sure his back would be sore!!!
Sorry I didn't reply earlier - I read eveyrone's post and then managed to delete my reply instead of posting it yesterday! DOH!
Well we have our 4-mth vaccs on Thursday, so hopefully won't be too bad...
Yesterday got a pile of gardening going, put him in his rocker on the verandah while we marked out our garden, the birds came to eat their seed and he watched them and the dogs and the blue flapping tarp
Kris - good luck!
Jen - brain? What brain? I can't remember my brain! I've been having trouble getting Pip to sleep during the day too - gave in and wrapped him and he was asleep almost instantly ... need a bigger velcro wrap thingy.
Not too sure about wearing the bjorn on our backs, maybe another brand though? My back's dodgy so I have trouble carrying him at the best of times.
Well I managed to possibly "stuff up" last night. DF & I were snuggling and one thing into another and geeze, I have no idea what my cycle is at the mo, I just hope its not "that time" that will produce a May baby. ARGH.
Melissa - hasn't it been gorgeous the past couple of days! Bring on spring!
oooh, has anyone felt weird? There's a "April Belly Buddies 2008" thread started already....
We are doing well, Lily is a very cheeky little monkey and I love her more with every day! She has been sleeping much better and I am a much happier mumma.
Jen, I still have really bad baby brain too. I just don't know why I do what I do half the time . I have a baby bjorn too and Lily loves it but at 7.5kgs (maybe more!) she is just too heavy for me to carry her in it anymore.
Kaz, grr at losing your post, I do it pretty regularly somehow!! I want to do up our verandah too. We only live in a unit, so it wouldn't be that much work, but it's just getting motivated to do it! Lil loves the outdoors too, she's so fascinated with flowers and reaches for them to touch.
DH and I had an 'oops' the other day too, so I'm hoping my cycle is still upset as well! Maybe we'll be baby buddies again, hehehe!!!! Yes I feel strange too seeing the April 08 baby buddies, I feel like I should be posting there LOL!
Well that's it, HELLO to everyone else!!! Have a lovely day everyone
i'm just hoping that i'm still not ovulating as he is still on the boob. we have been back doing the BD since he was 5 weeks old. so if i am they will be close together in age at least!! worse things could happen....i guess.
he was a devil baby yesterday. still sleeping through but something is really disturbing him during the day putting him into hysterics! i feel terrible not being ablt to help him. just have to carry him around and he settles. not so good for me but! it's funny isn't it when their fathers actually have to carry them for a while and realise that yes! they are actually quite heavy even though they look little!! DP gets frustrated when little mr is in hysterics and gets cranky. which doesn't help. and he is like "what do you do with him when he i slike this?!" does he think i get to sit with a contented little baby all day?! thats what i have to deal with all the time! shouldn't winge but, as he does sleep all night.
i just keep telling myself that that makes up for it!
hope you're all well. i can't believe that there is belly buddies for april 08 already....our babies are getting to big, too old, too fast!!
Good Evening,
Doing a sneaky while settling bubs and cooking t!
Greenfern, sorry Xavier has been unsettled, Beau gets the same way, but thats babies isnt it? It will pass just ride it out - I think having a baby really shows you that no matter how supportive your partner is, it's YOUR baby, you know? The buck always seems to stop with us IYKWIM?
Kaz - God I think i do well some days cleaning and washing and cooking tea but gardening? You are a marvel girl!
Kel - Yeah Beau is 7kg and I wore him in the Bjorn to the shops today (it was like 26 degrees here?) and I dont think its summer apparel!
Mel - Backs would make better sense - where I work has a massive peice of lycra that you wrap around you in a figure 8 to hold the bubba but I get confused looking at it! I think a lot of this stuff is meant for cooler climates too....like Europe! Sweeden and Copenhagen perhaps....he he!
Better go.
x
Hey everyone,
I'm feeling a little anxious, tomorrow is my first day at WORK, I can't believe I'm going to be working again....only 1day a week & some extra stuff at home but I'm very excited. Though a little anxious bout leaving Charlie with DH for more than just an hour or two. Well lucky it's not such a big town, I'll be just up the road. It's been busy here, had to buy a new washing machine - it's 1step forward & 2steps back atm, ahhh. But it's such a cool machine, I love it. Also sold my car to free up some cash, a little sad about that - I'm not so good driving a manual but I'm learning!!! Have to learn a bit faster its getting too hot to walk too far here. Whilst DH has time off I've been making stuff for Charlie's nursery & am so very proud of myself.
Melissa & Greenfern, glad to hear you have bubs that sleep well. We've just decided to do something bout Charlie's sleeping....he's been up 2x a night for a feed though often doesn't take heaps & just wants the cuddle as he stops crying as soon as you walk in the room. So last night, although I'm really against it, we let him cry it out - it only lasted bout 15mins, I gave him some water as it was a hot night & he settled right away....then slept til almost 6am before we gave him a feed. YAY...will be trying that again tonight!
As Charlie is FF my cycle is in full swing & funnily enough more regular than before he was born....so there is no room for error here LOL.
Kaz, I'm with you "what brain"...lost that a long time ago. We do the same with Charlie, sit him up in the stroller & work outside. That's how I got the paintings done for his nursery - he loves the fresh air. We need a bigger wrap too, most often we are up during the night just to re-wrap as he escapes. I saw a lady wrap her 7month old DS the other day when we were out & she made it look so simple & easy as she had a nice big wrap!!
Kellie, I agree with loving them more each day - you sound very happy!! Charlie has just mastered how to really blow raspberries & it's a cracker, we get so much joy out of getting him to do it. Also he rolled over for the first time this week & has been doing it ever since. I think we are all very proud Mum's.
We have a trip hiking when my MIL & FIL come to visit - will be taking all 7.5kg or prob more of Charlie then in the baby carrier, think I'll strap him to DH I'm not big enough to carry that.
Ok better go, got so much to do. I think atm I've bitten off more than I can chew.... I really need to finish one project!!
Good Morning,
Well he wouldnt settle last time I posted, and didnt go down til about 8pm - which is late for him, he stirred at 11:00 and I popped his dummy in, he stirred again at 11:30 and I begged DH to get up and feed him as I was buggered from the marathon no sleep day...DH put his dummy in instead and he slept till 2:30am, then stirred, I went in and he had his eyes tight shut so I put his dummy in again and he slept till 5am!!!! I feel like a new woman this morning! Weird little suckers arent they?
xxx
Jen - excellent news!! i hope it continues for you and he sleeps well now.
i'm really not looking for ward to the 4 month jabs today...i hate how upset he gets. but we have to try to do the grocery shop and drive out to a farm to get our veggies beofre we can come home. plus i have to cook a roast as the DP (gggrrr) decided to invite someone to tea!!
hopefully bub just sleeps like last time...
erin - i hope your first day back at work went well! i can understand how anxious you must be i haven't been away from baby for more than maybe 2 hrs max since he was born.
We've been super busy with family, work and running around sorting out cars!
We had my little cousins 18th birthday party on saturday night. Boy did I feel old with all those little 18 year olds running about. It was highly amusing and Hazel was the star of the show. Sh e got lots of attention and sat up til 11pm, happy and smiley and chatting away, the little social butterfly. Then when everyone left at 11 she got grizzly, had a feed and slept til 5am!
No complaints here, little girl is still sleeping well and life is pretty darn fine right now!
I promise I will sit down and do a big catch up with personals very soon x x
I've been flat out!! Umm let me think back. Had a huge argument with dh Sunday night - not so great. All sorted though - I think we're both just a bit busy and tired at the moment and we both just snapped. We usually have one like that every 6 months to a year! hehe. Then Monday and Tuesday night I had my training for The Body shop. Was soooo great! I'm very excited to get started now - the products are sooo nice!! Anyway - thats me - Dylans going well other than screaming for his Dad when I'm not around and also my brother dropped in and started talking to him and he screamed then as well!! Very clingy to his Mummy! He's sleep has improved heaps which is nice. He's hard to settle initially but then he's been hardly waking at all other than his 3am ish feed. Woohoo! He's been having dinner as well now - he had avocado the other night and the last 2 nights pumpkin. He's poo's are gross already though! LOL!
He's so funny - very active and him and his big brother have been making each other laugh which is sooo nice!! Lots of talking as well and just wants to reach and touch everything (and eat it!)
Melissa - Yeah on the sleep - thats so great!! Hope your enjoying the great weather! 25 tomorrow as well I think!
JenSam - Yeah on having a great weekend...will be nice when these bubs settle down won't it. The first 6 months is tough but they'll be all grown up before we know it!!
You want to see how proud I was to get the housework done today - finally! hehe.
Greenfern - Urggh your back must have been killing you!! I leave the kids at home with dh to do food shopping!! Dh's don't have any idea really do they?? hehe. I think we just sit around watching tv all day or something while the baby sleeps! Yeah right!! I agree - our bubs are growing up too fast....dh and I were talking yesterday and I said I'm definitely going for no.3 next year...I'd go no.4 as well but dh is pretty sure we won't! hehe.
Hope the immunisations went ok...
Kaz - Good luck with the needles tomorrow...hope bubba doesn't react too badly.
Wow - day sleeps seem to be the one thing we've got under control. I've actually started to wrap Dylan loosely now and he gets his arms out and is very happy that way. I can't get him to sleep unwrapped but If I just have it loose it seems to work ok...my muslin wraps were all thrown up on today so I wrapped him in a cot sheet!! Hehe - hope no baby making was happening (if thats what you want!) I know - we were all p/g this time last year...very strange!!
Erin - I hope you had a great day at work!!! Bugger about your washing machine..
Quiet in here yesterday - we were busy too - I worked yesterday and Beau was busy with his nanny...
After a pretty trying day on Wednesday when he was grizzly all day and would not feed at all!! i thought i would be relieved yesterday to be in the company of adults and have a small break, but because I do display for a kids/maternity store all i see all day are gorgeous bubbas! I miss him too much then!
Have to get over to the shops soon and buy up some yum breakfast goodies for DH's first fathers day on Sunday!!! Will have to think of some special low cost treats for him...
Greenfern - hope the jabs went ok for Xavier yesterday and he wasnt too upset (or you)
Kris- sucks you and DH having a big fight, we dont fight at all usually but sometimes you need one to clear a bit a built up tension dont you? i am too worried about trying to wean Beau from wrapping in summer when its too hot - he HATES being wrapped but wont stay down if he isnt. Also if I pop his dummy in to settle him he just boshes it out with his strong little arms!
Christy - he he at Hazel being the social butterfly! Cutee
Kel - there is a thread in the mothersgroup forum about mums in the Penrith area - you should check it out x
Finally got Beau a playgym from Target yesterday - a baby einstein one which is fold-up-able (?!) so it wont take up the entire living room...but when I set it up last night the whole music/vibrating star thing is missing!! Somebody has pinched it! How irritating!
Hi to everyone hope mums and bubs are well

Had a beautifuly hour massage last night - was sooo nice - then feeding Dylan in the middle of the night I fell asleep slumped and now I have a sore neck! Grrr!
We're well...Dylan decided he loves paper yesterday - gave him some junk mail to play with and he layed there for ages ripping it to shreds - I can't believe how strong he is sometimes. I've got to soo watch him grabbing my hair and he got his Nannas earring the other day! hehe.
We had some big giggles as well - played for about 10-15min with giggles the whole time - so cute!
JenSam - Dylans been really funny with his feeds as well...although I think I've finally got him down to 5 feeds!! He's just too interested in what's going on around him and keeps breaking off to have a look around. I think they feed a lot quicker now as well...he's only on the boob for about 5min total now!!
I get out of cooking Sunday morning - we're heading out for brekky! Woohoo!! This will be our first attempt so we'll see how we go! Although we're meeting dh's family there as well so we'll have help!! I'm sure we'd be fine anyway...
Dylan does the same - grabs his dummy and yanks it out...He also like chewing on it and he has got it stuck in sideways before...silly duffa. Louis never did stuff like that - sometimes I can't believe how different they are!
What a pain with the playgym!! I hate it when that happens!! Sounds like a good one though other than that!!
Better have a shower while Dylans asleep! Chat later!
Vaccs yesterday were horrid. The doc & nurse give him the vaccs simultaneously on each leg, poor little bugger. We gave him a half-dose of panadol b4 the appt, and then a bottle directly after and then took him for a hike in his bjorn.
I love our bjorn! We got the "active" one, its got lower back support. I have trouble carrying him around the house and stuff, so he spends a lot of time in the bjorn.
Anyhows, we got home and he settled but I had to get a new velcro wrap (the loose wrapping didn't work, and he gets out of muslin too easily, doh) and "y" teats for the bottles, so took him shopping. Also got him link rings, he loves them and a pram tie. He didn't sleep while out, grizzled in the bjorn then when I put him in the pram he just lay there, grumpily awake. But quiet. He saved up all his crying for last night after tea. Ended up cuddling up with him on the sofa (and the 2 cats) and he finally settled to sleep around 3am, I'm buggered. DF is feeding him at the mo, I've made a slice for our mums' group and just getting my sanity!Hopefully he'll be OK, not sure if I should give him more panadol b4 we go out or not.
Kristie - on the fight, we've been lucky so far here. I just keep smiling and I think that's about the only thing that stops me grumping at DF sometimes! Yuck on the sore neck, I've done that b4 too
Erin - how was work? Bad news on the washing machine - do you do cloth or dispaoables? I had a friend who used to work for Simpson in the help centre, she said it was the most stressful job, cause there'd be mums phoning with a washing machine not working, and they'd cry and the babies would be screaming! Hope all went well for you - personally I prefer driving a manual, I hate feeling like a passenger in a car when I'm driving!
Raspberries! He learnt to blow them last Friday, so we get "good morning" raspberries and "I love this bottle" raspberries - they're cute! Also with the blowing bubbles, he's so proud of himself. Well done on the rolling over, Pip's quite close I think?
Anyhows, best go ice the slice and get dressed for mums' group in 90 mins ... was going to dye my hair but that's out the window now, might do it tonight.
(oh, and the garden bed is now laid out, DF just needs to fill it with soil and then I can plant veggies! YUM!) (and DF is going to take Pip away from me for a couple of hours this arvo so I can do my housework - with DF on hols, I'm not getting anything done!)
Kristie - Xavier loves paper at the minute too. He wasted the sunday mail on well SUNDAY!
how do you get dylan to onle be on for 5 min??!! xavier likes to stay there for the long haul...
Xaviers vacs on tuesday went TERRIBLY!!! he has had a temp since we got them at 9.30 tues. morning!!! neither of us got any sleep tuesday night everytime i put him don't he would scream.. he would feel asleep with me holding him but wake up screaming. sounded like he was in awful pain. i took him back to dr yesterday morning but they didn't even seem worried. his temp got over 39 yesterday afternoon and he is still around the 38 this morning. at least he is eating again today. he wasn't even interested yesterday i had to make him get on. which is NOT like him!
has anyone else's bubs gotten the rotatech vac. that they introduced to the federally funded immunisation program?? they bought it in at start of july. the day xavier had his two month ones!! you guys might have already gotten your 2 month ones so you missed out. i think thats what has made him so sick....but he didn't have any probs with the 2month ones...
