Hey All,
Welcome tiffany. Wow at you guys giving solids already. We havent started yet. Olivia seems happy with her bottles atm and doesnt seem to be any hungrier. So I think we will wait til shes closer to 6 months, just wait and see. last night i got the best sleep, Olivia was in bed by 930, I think I was asleep shortly after and she woke around 730 this morning! YAY. Hope she keeps it up, although she has been pretty constant for a while now.
She hasnt rolled since Friday, but just looking over at her, shes scuttled on her back a fair way past her toys and is getting a little shirty!!!!
Well I got my leg master thing and it kills my legs, so must be doing something. Hopefully on the road to some weight loss/toning!
Adam is going away for 4 nights over this coming weekend, am a little bit nervous, but i might go and stay with my mum.....
Anyway, housework awaits me, oh and the front door looks great!
Take care all
Love Melissa
Hi ladies,
So sorry about my total slackness in keeping up with this thread. I feel like Jambin has finally gotten himself into a groove during the day, and I actually have time to do things now. He's generally pretty happy to watch me potter around the house (e.g. laundry, vacuuming, folding) but cracks it if I try to sit down at the computer, so BB has taken a bit of a back seat lately. He's just gone down for a sleep, and I made it my mission to post here in Baby Buddies while he napped. It feels like my big achievement during the day lol.
I hope everyone had a great Father's Day. I took DH and Jambin to the park for morning tea (coffee and iced donuts), then we went to the Sandgate jetty for fish and chips last night with my sisters and parents.
Kel - that's interesting about Lily starting to growl. Jambin has started making a new noise over the past few day ... kind of a mixture between a grunt and a cow mooing lol. He does it for hours. Drives me nuts
Melissa - YAY for Olivia rolling, even with her harness. It will be so great when it can finally come off. I have a friend whose babe was also in a harness, and when they finally got to take it off, the first thing she did was dunk her in a bath lol. She'd been soooo looking forwards to bathing her baby but couldn't do it with the harness on.
Kristie - aren't baths the greatest!! I have started having one every night. Jambin comes in with me for the first 15 mins, then DH takes him and plays with him/dresses him/gives him his final bottle while I stay in the bath for a while reading a book and generally chilling out. Pure bliss!!
Iona - oh no @ Luke's croup :( Poor little mite. I hope he recovers from it quickly.
Danni - Hugs for you sweets. You must be so tired with all those night feeds. I hope you manage to find something that works for you both.
Tiffanny - welcome :) Sounds like little Phoebe is going great guns! Jambin loves having his nappy off too. If he's ever really grizzly, I just take his pants off for guaranteed smiles lol.
Erin - bummer about not being able to get into childcare yet. It's something that I've been totally slack about. I'm due to go back to work in Feb, and haven't even looked at childcare places, let alone actually put Jambin's name down on any waiting lists.
We haven't started solids yet either. Jambin seems to be doing really well on formula, and trying to feed him his reflux medication with a spoon is enough of a hassle (it ends up everywhere but in his mouth lol).
Jambin has rolled a few times, from his tummy to his back. He did it for the first time when he was 12 weeks old, then didn't do it again until about 16 wks, and hasn't done it since lol. He hasn't rolled from his back to his tummy yet either. He hates tummy time, so even though I make sure he has some time facedown each day, it only tends to be for 2-3 mins each time before he starts grizzling.
Sleepwise, he sleeps through the night, usually from about 7pm-7am, which is an absolute godsend, since his daysleeps are totally erratic. I've gotten in the bad habit of going lots of places, particularly in the morning, so now the only reliable way to get him to sleep during the day is by driving in the car. Sometimes if I bounce him in the hammock when he tired, he'll drift off for a short sleep, but mostly I have to feed him to sleep during the day, and then he will only stay asleep for as long as he is in my arms. I need to invest in a laptop, so that I can surf BB while he's sleeping lol.
Hugs,
hi tiffany. your little munchkin sounds like she is going great guns!!
solids - we weren't going to start until 6 months buyt we started giving him a little rice cereal and stewed apple at 14 weeks. just coz he is a hungry little chubba!! now we have started on pumkin and sweet potato etc. mixed with BM. he loves it. but i don't....was shocked by the smelly nappies as he had never had smelly ones before being a BF baby.
danni - babies are babies we can't worry about if they are FAT!!! once they start crawing and then walking the weight will fall of them!! my bubs is just over 10kg and is only 18 weeks old, but the nurses and dr never have said he is too fat (even though he is OFF the growth charts) its not like veggies are fattening anyhow, they are actually GOOD for them :)
anyhow i think mr has just done one of those smellies that i'm not fond of!!
hope everyone had a good day yesterday!!
Danni- no worries lol
Cherie-Phoebe is the same if grizzly off comes the nappy lol I just read your blog about day sleeps and trying to get Jambin in his cot. We had problems getting Phoebe into her cradle so for the first month of her being home she slept in her rocker. I thought she was never going to get in the cradle until my sis gave me a tetra pillow to put in the bottom. It worked a treat! She was in and sleeping soundly. We have just moved her into the cot now and she didnt like it much to begin with so we bought her a Tetra Snuggle Bed and she had been in there since and loves to snuggle into it. The snuggle bed is SIDS approved and the filling is made from tea tree bark so nice and soft aswell as being a breathable.
lol Greenfern I was the same when Phoebe had her first cereal with apple in it. I could smell her as soon as I walked in the room. The steak and vege ones caught me off guard, I cracked up laughing coz it came out the same colour that it went in. FYI it was the biggest stinkiest one Ive changed so far. Dp got one on the weekend and when I returned from grocery shopping he wanted to know what I'd been feeding her coz he nearly gagged at it.
I said to him if it was that bad he should have bathed her but he is still too afraid to! Its the one thing he wont do! Are there any other partners that refuse to bath bubs coz they are scared?
Tiffanny - I just googled the tetra snuggle beds. They look fantastic! I will show DH when he gets home. Would be great for co-sleeping too. And I'm taking Jambin to Melbourne in a few months, so that would be so much easier to carry onto the plane than a portacot. Then he could just sleep inside the tetra bed, in bed with me IYKWIM.
Hi!
Busy in here this morning! Dylan had a great night last night! Went to bed around 7pm and then didn't have a feed until 4.20am!! I had to get up a couple of times to put the dummy in but that was it. Then he woke at about 6.45am but I just brought him in with me and we snoozed until Louis woke up! (not that much later - hehe)
Danni - I would just do what you feel is right...Dylans on 2 solids a day but not really very much in either feed. sometimes he won't eat at all other time he's happy to gobble it down...it is easy to keep putting down but I wouldn't let them eat tooo much.
tiffanny - I agree - we know our bubbas better than anyone!! My dh baths the kids - that's his job each night! With us it was the opposite - I hadn't bathed Louis until he was around 2-3 weeks old - dh had done all of them!! hehe.
Melissa - Wow - I'm so jealous of Olivias sleep!! hehe. Good for you!! I'm sure you'll be fine with your dh away but I know how it can be a bit nervewracking all on your own!! That would be great if you can go and stay with your mum - even just for day to give you a break. LOL at your sore legs!!
Cherie - So good to hear from you! Wow - thats fantastic he sleeps so well at night! As far as I can tell you either have it one way or the other! hehe (or not at all sometimes! hehe) Glad to hear you having some nice baths and pampering yourself! What a gorgeous ticker!!
Greenfern - Urgh - I'm with you - those solids poo's are gross! I've got two of them in nappies as well !hehe. I can't wait to train Louis but I don't think he's ready just yet unfortunately!
Gotta go - you guys have been chatting heaps this morning!!
Afternoon all, we had a horrible night last night. Charlie seems to be waking several times just for attention - he's laughs soon as you walk in the room & isn't hungry. So last night we let him cry it out, which I'm usually against doing - it was horrible. I caved after a while, but will try again tonight - the habit needs to be broken. This is going to sound really yucky, but we have a mouse in the house & it was in our bedroom this morning, YUCK!!! it was looking up at me from the door when I woke up & then ran out of the room. Guess where it ended up - Charlie's room as it came out to say hello when I went to get him up & chg his nappy. LOL I actually jumped up & was practically sitting on the change table with Charlie.
Danni that's fair enough he stays up to see DH, I think it's great DH spends some time with him before bed. Poor DH here misses Charlie heaps when he's on Day shift as he is always in bed or just about to go when DH walks in the door. I can't keep him up that time of night he just cry's & cry's til he's in bed. The only time he stays awake happy is if we are out & there's lots to look at. Hopefully as he gets older he'll be able to stay up a bit longer. With the solids just do what you feel is best, I started Charlie a few weeks ago but he didn't seem too interested & was waking up around 3am with dirty nappy & so on. So we've put it on hold for a little longer.
Tiffany - my DH loves to bath Charlie, I actually didn't do it for the first week as I was too scared!!! Charlie now most of the time has a shower with DH. I hear you on the stinky solid poo's, when we tried Charlie out on some food he was doing them at night & he's often not one to cry out for a nappy change. I could smell him from the hallway nice & early in the morn.
Greenfern - I'm with you on the weight issue with bubs, as they get bigger & more active they will lose weight & their frame will be what it's going to be. Bubs has to be started on solids sooner or later & the aim is to get to 3meals a day as we would have. They all vary in sizes, my MIL couldn't believe it when I said to get Charlie size 0 clothes. He's got such long legs.
Well I had better go, he's just woken from a nap & I'm half way through making a bannana & sultana cake for Mum's group tomorrow. I am so addicted to this computer, if it's not BB it's Facebook. I swear I don't get anything else done all day.
Have a good day everyone.
cherie - sounds like jambin and xavier have the same sleeping routine! excellent at night and unpredictable during the day!!!
erin - i'm with you on the evil's of the computer!! between this, essential baby and...EBAY (naughty naughty) i waster way too much time. hopefully the novelty will wear off soon as i've only had the net reconnected for the last 3 weeks or so. xavier is in 0's as well. long and FAT. was never any smaller than a 000 and even some of those were a bit short.
Danni - lol at just realising that luke is a day old - i think i fell off my chair when i got home from the hospital to read that your waters had broke n mason had arrived.
i also know what you mean about the feeding - luke has been sleeping for 5hrs n than feeding for every 1-2hr from the first wake up - i think he likes to play catch up with the feeds that he has missed
Hi Tiffany and welcome
thanks for everyones replies!
Iona: wow at luke doing the same thing!! lil buggas ;)
Hi!
Dylan had broccoli and pumpkin for dinner and ate it all up!!! He's getting a bit better at his eating but if he's even the slightest bit tired I've got no hope!! We had a pretty chilled arvo which was nice!!
Erin - bugger Charlie's playing up. Dylan did that the other night and was just chatting away to himself - I fed him just to get him back to sleep and luckily he hasn't done it since. I try and go in quickly before he wakes himself up too much iykwim?
Hi to everyone else!! Hope you all get some sleep tonight!!
Oo-Oo-Oo-Oo, Erin, I LOVE facebook too!!! Can we be friends?!!!! My last name is Nervo if you want to search for me.
I've been AWOL lately and I haven't read everyones posts so I'm sorry I've missed so much.
Logan's been eating for 2 weeks now and has tried carrot, potato, peas, banana, apple, pear, prune and rice cereal. Tomorrow we're going to add 'frutti' which is a pure fruit purée of peach, apricot, pear and apple (with no sugar or anything other than fruit) by Nestlé.
He's been an absolute star and is getting the hang of it very nicely but I didn't realise how sensitive his little guts would be in regards to constipation so I'm leaving the carrot out of his diet for the next week! He's not actually constipated but he's really not enjoying having to push out poops that have 'form', so I'm going to concentrate on prunes for a few days!
I'm going to take him to an open-preschool at a local church tomorrow. I'm not religeous at all but it'll be nice to meet some more mums in the area.
After that I'm going to take him to....now don't jump to conclusions here...a modeling agency! I can't tell you how many people go out of their way to make sweet comments about him every day. I know every mum will tell you her kid is the cutest...but I reckon mine really is! -I appologise if that sounds totally conceited but I figure why not....someones baby has to appear on the side of the nappy pack, in the clothing catalogue, in the baby carrier advert...why not this little charmer?!! There's a model search on right now for 2 to 14 year olds and I figured I'd go to the open casting tomorrow and see if they accept 4½ month olds on the books. It's not for the money at all (which would go in an account for him to have when he's older) -might be fun. Thomas is a bit iffey about it as my sisters modeled quite successfully through their teenage years to the extent that they actually made more money than my mum one year who is a dentist, at age 16 and they're totally up themselves! -he thinks Logan would turn out the same...I disagree.
Thomas did really well in his interview in Paris the other week and has been invited on to the final round in Hong Kong at the beginning of october...very excited! If all goes well, we'd be moving to HK around May 2008. It would be a bittersweet move as I'd miss everyone here so much but I'll make new friends of course.
That's about all for this essay.
Hope you're all well,
A + L
Hey Adele, have added you in.....hope I got the right one??? Between Facebook, BB & I forgot to mention Ebay my back is starting to hurt from sitting at the Computer too long.
A quick hello to everyone else, we are off to the Library for story time. I noticed last week he's just starting to get something out of this. Last night I had to re-wrap & pop dummy in about 5x but no bottle....YAY!!!
Have a good day everyone.
HI girls,
Just popping in to say hi. You guys have been busy lately! I'm not feeling too well today,I have a cold and fever, so it will be a quiet day for us. Lily is good and DH is home thankgoodness! I can rest my stuffed up aching head! Any way that's it, just wanted to say hi and I haven't forgeotten you all!!
Hi Guys,
Wow you dont come in here for a day or two and there are heaps of posts! Yay! I was feeling like a looser last week being the only one in here all the time!!!
Beau and I are pretty good - he was really spewy yesterday and has gotten into the habit of falling asleep for his long one at 5-5:30pm (as he only catnaps 45mins-1hr in the day) then wakes at 11pm or 12am then again at 4am or 5am.....what do you guys do routine wise at night? If he is clearly down for his long one should I wake him at 7pm? is that how to get him more like "sleeping thru?"
It seems everybody has wrapping issues...I bought some thick lycra from Lincraft and cut it up (2m wide by 1m high) so I had some massive stretchy wraps for bubs, he is too big for his shop bought ones now - he never gets out of those suckers! Then if its cold I wrap him in a cotton blanket over the top or if its warmer a flannellette wrap or muslin one over the top of the lycra one to keep his arms from stretching up to his face....he does scream now when he gets wrapped up but - he knows what it means I think!
Ok he's awake gotta go....great to hear from everybody!
ps Welcome Tiffany!!!
xxx
waiting for af to come...... should have been here sunday/monday. Am on the pill, so its pretty spot on. And my friend who had twins and her next baby fell pregnant on the pill both times. Cross fingers for me. I want to enjoy Olivia for a bit longer on her own.........
Hey Jen, everyone will be different with what they do at night and whatever works for you best. For me Charlie is very grizzly around 5am but I just distract him as much as I can, play outside or nice long bath to get him through til at least 6pm or a bit past....otherwise he too would be up a couple times at night & really early in the morning. If he's only had short naps during the day & is very tired I'll pop him down around 5pm but wake him after a half hour or so, then he'll go back around 7pm & usually do a long stretch & a couple re-wraps (we are working on night feeds). IMO I don't think it would be good to wake him up after a couple hours if he's in a big deep sleep, it could unsettle him more & take longer to get him back to be that night. Also, often the later they go to be the early they are up in the morn & they don't get enough sleep. But whatever works for you guys.
melissa - for AF!! i'm not not the pill or anything...just relying on the breast feeding (which is dodgy i know!!) but took us 9 months for me to get pregnant.... my friend got pregnant when she was BFing and her little girl was only 3 months.. just hope i'm running faster than the :sperm:
kelli - hope your feeling better and got some decent rest today!! sux being sick
jen - can't help you with routines sorry. xavier just decided when he was 9 weeks old to start sleeping for at least 9 hours at night....that was until the needles last week. he hasn't slept through since!! he hasn't been wrapped since he was about 3 weeks old i think...maybe you should try, if he seems to be only lightly sleeping, waking him for a little while around 7 or so like you said....doesn't hurt to try. only way to learn i think trial and error. but when we used to wake xavier from deepish sleep he used to get cranky as and not get back to sleep like erin said
Hi!
Not much from me...went shopping today - the boys were really good which helped although Louis decided to spit out a mouthful of banana smoothie for some unknown reason...all over his clothes - yuck!!
Adele - Glad Logans going so well - wow on all the eating!! You can also try giving him a drink of water now that he's eating solids - that can help with the constipation sometimes...
Yeah on the modelling - don't feel funny - Louis was signed up last year and got a photo shoot for the target catalogue...I haven't done anything with Dylan yet - will probalby wait until the new year (if he's still spunky! LOL!) and sign him up. Hopefully we can get something for him to. I'm giving it a rest now as I didn't want to be too involved (and spend too much money!) but really Louis only got the one job anyway.
Glad the job interviews are going well!
Erin - hope you had fun at the library! I haven't taken the kids in ages....
Kel - Sorry to hear you're sick - Hope you feel better soon!
Jen - I would just try and stretch each sleep a little later and hopefully you can push his big bedtime back then as well...I wouldn't try waking him up as it just doesn't seem to work sometimes...
I think I wrote before - I'd just use a cot flat sheet for a wrap if the bubbas are too big!
Melissa - Hope af arrives for you!! Just remember that if you are p/g though you've got 9 more months of Olivia on her own before a new bubby would arrive!!
K - Chat later!!
ARGH- Ive been going insane for the last 2 days. Dp has been off work and has thrown Phoebe's sleeping pattern off. He thinks he is doing me a favour by taking her off my hands for an hour or 2 but the thing is he takes her to bed with him to have naps nad she hasnt been sleeping at night. URGH MEN!!!!
Melissa- Hope af arrives for you. Lol dp and I arent taking any chances Ive got the implant and he wears condoms. I want atleast a year off beeing pg after being pg 3 times during the last 18 months
Hi ladies,
Well still feeling off but better than yesterday.
Lily has been such a good girl and DH was good yesterday too, he helped as much as he could, with my clingy monkey baby I have. She is VERY attached to me at the moment and even cries when DH takes her sometimes- not good when I feel so cr@ppy!
I gave her some fruit to suck on the other day- some pear and mandarin. She LOVED it and cried when I took it away! DH was eating a mandarin and she was watching him very closely so he gave a piece to her to suck on. I was expecting her to grimace and not like it but she sucked so hard she nearly sucked it out of his hand! Then I cut a piece of pear to give her and she loved that too! I think it might be time to try some solids...
She's been sleeping better, going down between 7.30and 8.30pm, only one feed at night and then she wakes anywhere between 6-7am. So I am pretty happy with that.
Lil and I had a bath together last night, soo nice and relaxing! She was a funny little monkey and got very excited when daddy brought her into the bathroom and saw me in the bath. I had her resting on my tummy on her tummy and she slowly pushed herself over to my bb to have a bit of a feed! Very cute! She ended up having a really long feed on both sides and was so content afterwards, hehe!
Ok girls, gonna go, hope you all have a loverly day :) Will do personals one day soon.....
Oh Yay and fewwww..af arrived with avengance. Now I feel like crap, but glad shes come!!! Got to go and hang out washing
take care
Love melissa
Hi!
Had a pretty good night with Dylan last night...fed early though - around 2am so was up early as well but shock horror he had like a 2 hour nap this afternoon - that never happens!!! I hope he sleeps ok tonight now!
Tiffanny - Hope you got some sleep last night!! LOl at not taking any chances...fair enough though!!
Kel - Glad you're starting to feel better...LOl at the fruit! It must be nice for them to taste something different after all the milk they've been drinking! Glad she's sleeping well. You're bath sounds so nice!!! I only do it at the PIL's as they have a really big bath and we all fit in with lots of room!
Melissa - Yeah! What a relief for you. After having some bleeds early on af isn't back at all. I'm assuming it was just from starting the mini pill. I hope I have a nice big break now like I did with Louis! Well, technically I haven't had a period since Jan 05! hehehe.
Chat later - hope you're all well!
Time for a new thread!
