Morning all!
What a yucky day it is here today! :( I think those brissie storms have travelled down!
Veygas is doing really well now - the scar is barely noticeable, but still a fair bit of scar tissue underneath. He also has an umbilical hernia (his belly button didn't close up properly either) so atm he has this squishy little "outie". The paed surgeon said that one would heal itself - it can take up to 5 years though!
He had a bit of a funny day yesterday - he slept for about an hour in his rocker (he put himself to sleep oh so quietly!) but after that only having 5-10 minute cat-naps during the day. He was finally in bed for the night at around 5.30pm, and when he wok for a feed during the night, I freaked cause it was 2.30am! He was still wrapped and his sheets still tucked in, so I knew he hadn't been awake earlier. I had crashed by about 8.30pm, so it was a good stretch of sleep for me, but I had soooooooooo much trouble getting back to sleep after that feed! :cryinglaugh: I'm so used to only getting around 2-3 hours sleep between feeds! hahaha
A friend of mine is meant to be coming over today, but I haven't heard from her and can't seem to get in touch this morning!
Vic - I really hope Nakita has put on a good amount of weight! She's a fighter!
:hello: to everyone else
**WHINGE ALERT**
Is it just me, or does everybody have a problem with people (usually family) coming into their house and just helping themselves to things, and not asking if they are unsure about something?
We had IL's up on Saturday and we had planned to go out somewhere with them and to get the kids out of the house. But EVERY TIME they come up, it's always a BBQ (they bring everything, so I shouldn't complain on that count!) This time, however, they didn't ask what things they could use, they just took my good porcelain plates and had the meat heating on the plates ON THE BBQ GRILL!!! They also used my salad bowl to put raw meat into and my mixing bowls to make a salad! Then my MIL uses EXPIRED salad dressing (ok, my fault, I should have thrown it out!)
Just the fact that nothing was asked of us, just feels a little disrespectful, plus when you confront them about it, they ALWAYS use the excuse "Well, I didn't know" Then they leave the mess for me to clean up! Grrrrrrrr ... am I being pathetic and unreasonable???
**WHINGE OVER**
Thanks Rachel :) I have PM'd you.
Big hugs MM :hug::hug:
I haven't had that problem, I am just sick and tired of advice, and DH going "oh mum said that would happen!" he says this a lot (last night it was about my psoriosis flaring up now), FFS it was me that said it and, no your mum doesn't know everything!!! It is stress related (can be agrivated by stress), and I have been stressed to the hilt!!
Also at the wedding we went to Sunday night, everyone asked if I were still BF'ing, getting a mixture, ohh that is fantastic right through to it is okay to FF completely, bubs will be completely fine, and oh you will give up comping it is too hard!! :wall:
Most of all I hate when people literally go "ohh goo gooo gaaa gaa" and speak "baby talk" :cryinglaugh:
Ok I've ranted enough!!! Was hoping to be at work by now but N decided that she only wanted 2.5hours between feeds this morning!! All good :)
LOL @ the baby talk Vic!! I have been known to do it occasionally (to my own babies and only when they've been upset!) ... it reminded me of that ad a few years ago (can't remember what for) where the woman is home with the baby all day and ends up speaking baby talk to adults!! (Daddy home from worky jerky) :cryinglaugh: I used to PMSL all the time when that ad came on!!!
Vic, big  for you, we're here to support you. One thing I was told when preg with #1 was to listen to all the advice, take what you want/need out of it and disregard the rest.
I'm glad my DP doesn't think his mother's word is gospel (but then again, I already had 2 kids when we met!!) :cryinglaugh: She does however, try to tell me stuff, about how hard it is to bring kids up (but she only had one and has literally worked all his life, leaving their neighbour to bring him up when he was little), and she's forever asking me how I'm doing, how I'm feeling, can she take the kids, can she come up here more ..... (and both DP and myself are very quick to answer NO!) :p
Maybe Nakita's more frequent feeds will pile some more weight on her! ;)
ROFL I remember that add!!
Thanks heaps, I would be lost without all of you, what a great sounding board you ae!!
I wish he didn't think so.... he has tried some of the things she has mentioned and said, well that didn't work for me!!!
Hope so!!
Thanks MM, I am just over it, it sounds like you MIL is very similar, seriously if she asks me again how I am feeling I am gonna scream  She is coming down this weekend and wants to look after N so I can do some work, that doesn't bother me, but I will ask her to take her for a walk as I can't stand the gooing and gahing, last time she was here to help, it drove me batty, so at least if I send her out with N in the pram I don't have to listen!!! Hmm I should give her some books to read to her as well :cryinglaugh:
I will get more work done as well!
I think we need to invest in T-Shirts that say, "Thanks for your comments, I hear what you are saying, but I am doing this my way, you may not like it, but it is my child!"
Must run and eat before little miss awakes!!! 3 hours exactly!!!!
Hi Everyone!
Been a busy few days. Won't do many personals cos I have to get ready to go to the Osteopath. Jett is getting his first treatment today!! Cheeky little thing is doing his catnap thing again today but at least he is playing quietly inbetween rather than screaming like he usually does! His poos lately are extremely stinky and runny/explosive. Anyone else getting this? I'm trying to figure out if it is normal or a result of damage done during overfeeding stage.
Oh and Jett's eyes are currently blue - a navy blue, but I am convinced they will go dark brown like his Daddy's. In certain light (sunny daylight especially) they look like they have brown in the background, if that makes sense. My eyes are blue, but they don't look like my colour!
 MM - I don't seem to have that issue, but I know I would be annoyed - especially the plates on the BBQ.
Vic - Good luck with the weigh in. Can't wait to hear the good news! :cheer: C'mon Nakita!!!
My whinge turn - Although I am breastfeeding, I still do 1 or two expresses a day cos I have an oversupply of milk. Because I get so much milk I choose to give Jett at least one bottle a day of EBM. Sometimes when we are out and about for convenience, sometimes when I have visitors and I don't want to flop a boob out in front of them, sometimes cos I just expressed while he was asleep but he's woken up early and I haven't replenished and sometimes at night just to give me a break so I can do other things and DH can have some bonding time with Jett. It works for us but whenever I mention it to people who are really pro bf they are horrified! Yes it is fine to give him a bottle once or twice a week so he doesn't forget how to take a bottle, but not every day. I don't understand the big deal, it is still breastmilk, he has a good feeding habit and sucks equally as well on both and doesn't seem mind in the least. I am also teaching him that it is ok to be fed by other people if I'm not around. Am I overreacting or am I missing something? If I am that's fine, but tell me now before the damage is done cos I can't see a problem.
Ok, better run so we can get to our appt on time!
ETA - Big yes here for the t-shirts!!
Or you could get a T-shirt like my dad has that says: "Let's just pretend I give a sh*t and leave it at that"
 :cryinglaugh: The Pixie!!!! That is Priceless!!! :cryinglaugh:
MT Hun, I wouldn't worry at all!!! We have given N a bottle of EBM at least once a day for months now!!! I think it is great that Jett will take both, we had a mum in mothers group where he little girl will ONLY take the boob, and she is 4 months old, no matter what she does bubs won't take a bottle of EBM, and she is really upset by it. I don't think it matters, Jett loves his boob and is more than happy to take the boob or bottle so go for it. I think they say to avoid it and dummies early as there is "nipple confusion" but in the end if Jett is happy with it all and it isn't affecting your supply - which is isn't as you have too much then why not!! Hey if he is on all BM it doesn't matter at all
Just popping my ugly mug in here to say g'day while I DON'T have a baby in my arms, and while I DON'T have a stinky, whingy, whiney toddler boy at my feet (he grabs my yucky spongey gut - you know the c-section gut you get from the cut muscles -and it ANNOYS ME...)
Anyhoo - for all that are having issues
Words of wisdom from me - tell everyone who is annoying you, telling you to do stuff a certain way, getting into your stuff without asking....
F*CK off...
Simple... ;)
Pixie- I LOVE IT!!!!! :cryinglaugh:
MT& Vic- eveyone likes to have their opinion and say things without thinking how it may affect you. I received dirty looks from women when I was in a parents room feeding Allegra EBM all that should matter is that the baby is being fed and is healthy
Vic- I have to admit I have never had anyone (yet) talk baby talk to her but when people talk to her like she knows what they are saying she either frowns or raises an eye brow as if to say I can't understand you fool. Hows your house going?
MM- gosh I have never had anyone do that but I can imagine how annoying it would be. You're so lucky he put himself to sleep, but wow what a great night you had i'm so jealous.
Kiwigirl- you're so lucky to be getting the little baby chat and lots of smiles.
Hello to every one
well by the sounds of it Allegras eyes may stay blue she's going to be a blondy (she has the same colour hair that cadence had at this age) and have blue eyes haha poor daddy
both Df and I have brown eyes but we both have blue eyed relatives.
Has anyone had days where bub wont sleep and wont let you put them down? I have Allegra in one of those baby pouch things thts the only way she'll be quiet today she's been up since 9 this morning!
hello mel I love your location
 PMSL BIG TIME!!!!!!!
 AGAIN!!!
I have been laughing so hard at the things you all are coming up with that it hurts!!!! :cryinglaugh:
Kel - I have blue eyes and my DP and my ex both have brown eyes, DS1 has brown eyes (although they were the deepest blue for like 12 months!!) DD has blue eyes, but they are starting to speckle with green and brown (at 4.5!!) - very interesting! DS2 has green eyes, and atm DS3 has the steely blue (like i mentioned) and I would LOVE for them to stay that colour!
MT - If Jett takes a bottle, that is awesome, especially if it gives you a break and DH some bonding time with him!! My lot have all been useless and would ONLY go the boob! DS2 reluctantly took a bottle from about 3 months onwards, but for most of the time I have always been home with the kids anyway, so there has really been no need for my lot to take a bottle (although it would make life easier sometimes!!) And seriously, I can't see the problem with it anyway! (taking both that is!)
I was thinking about breastfeeding as a contraceptive method the other night and realised how it doesn't work for me - ever since Veygas was in hospital and had to fast ... the concept is that you are meant to exclusively bf every four hours (or less, but not have longer gaps) ... might jump into another forum and see if it has worked for anyone who has tried it (I know my chances are stuffed now, especially after his 9 hour stint of sleep last night!! :cryinglaugh: ) NOT that we have time to DTD anyway!
u girls been so chatty its hard to catch up.
personally i dont care how a baby is fed or by what just as long as mother and baby are healthy and happy thats all that mater's.
just being quick here as its very full on today. josh gained 160 grams in 7 days i am happy with that :)
mm 9 hours good on ya
thank you to every whom sent me pm's its very much appreciated thank you!!
gotta go trying to feed josh.
hi to everyone
Did you all watch the news they reckon that 1 mouth full of baby oil is very harmful ALL brand to babies and toddlers. and in the states they have a safety caps on them. There has even been deaths as a result of children and babies swallowing more than 1 mouthful
i just threw out 2 full bottles.
I didn't watch the news. I'm not worried - we have a child safety thing on our bathroom cupboard - and seriously - he is never away from my side long enough to go and drink stuff. (his choice to be clingy - not mine.. lol)
:cheer: + 290grams :cheer:
What a Boomba!!!
My MW was very surprised that I was still BF'ing, she half expected me to be fully FF, I said that it had made me more determined!! She gave me the contact details of a private lactation consultant and also of GP who plays around with Motilium - more trialling/changing the doses under supervision/monitoring, so I am giving her a call tomorrow and hope to get an appointment ASAP. I am keeping up the food diary too as well, which I am sure will be very important when I speak with the GP.
So we have the sign off now to just go to CAYHS, she said to leave it a month before weighing her again... hmmm can I wait that long!!!
Thanks again for your support :loveshower:
Kel - I guess it is still being built it has been a week and a half since I have seen it!! Job for tomorrow after work! Nakita aften raises her eyebrows. seems to get the look of surprise very often!!
PMSL  Mel nice and subtle!!
Oh Squidipa... We never bought Baby Oil and probably never will, don't need it..... Great gain Josh!! :cheer:
Vic that's great news! :cheer: Really happy for you, all your hard work has paid off!
:cheer: WELL DONE VIC! GOOD GIRL NAKITA! :cheer:
290 grams wow thats fab Conrats mommma dadda and Nakita.
I have nearly made it to my world record of 8 weeks. Its been hard real hard frustrating tiresome and ive so wanted to quit. Some times my boobs are like over stretched pancakes. Milk there just difficult to get josh to latch on when it so darn soft. The other day he was screaming i knew he was hungry and my body just would produce anything I was in tears. This was not the first for time either this has happened happends fairly regularly most days. I am annoyed hubbie lost the breast pump but not annoyed at him just the fact its missing and we been looking everywhere.
I nearly gave in the other day to give him formula i said to myself if he isn't feed and comfortable in 2 hours i am breaking open the tin of formula i have here. But he was good so i am so happy. would like more than 160 grams maybe 170 small increase i am happy with. at this point we still need to do weekly weigh ins i think Friday ill get my pap test results if i have time to go late in arvo.
Today we are baking with kids and arts and crafts again. yesterday me and DD made a scrap book with some stuff she had looks good she is so proud of it.
He is up now so gotta go .
*Steel blue eyes here*
I got arrears from center link of 1732.74 today wooohoooooooooo GrEaT for the savings and maybe a small treat thats cool did anyone else get arrears when partner done thier tax?
VIC - YAYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYY!!!!!
What a great gain!!!
Well done to mummy and bubby for that weight gain - you are a great team!!!
WOOOOOHOOOOOOO!!!!!!!!!!!
Kel - thanks - its my life all summed up at the moment in my location.. lol....
Squidipa - haven't got my tax back yet.... be interesting to see how much we get from centrelink. And well done on the BFing - I think you are doing an excellent job
Oh the eyes - DD has blue eyes, just like DS. Not as dark as his - his were nearly black when he was born they were so dark blue. Now they are a lovely shade of medium dark blue. DD has about the same shade as his are now - so will probably have light blue eyes. Darn - my kids never get MY eye colour (green) - just too many people with blue eyes in mine and DH's family for them to have anything than blue me thinks...
Hello to everyone else... *mwah*
