Squidipa - one ounce = about 30 grams (roughly). If ever you're stuck with any conversions, just google (ie "ounces to grams, pounds to kilos etc!) I do it ALL the time! And yeah, since my post this morning, I haven't been able to get back til now, but apparently it's been a common problem with lots of us!
    YAY for Joshie's gain again!!

Leash - yeah, it's sad that the kids shows have such sing-along-able songs! "we're going on a trip in our favourite rocket ship ..." I do cut V's nails every couple of days too ... his cheek FINALLY stopped bleeding this afternoon I almost started to worry about haemophilia
Go the heffalumps!! I was actually considering turning V's seat soon, cause he's always trying to lift his head from that reclined position and like you, I either get his legs caught on the straps or hit his head on the roof! LOL! Plus I have to lift him over another car seat (reclined is easier in the middle) - we actually have THREE car seats across the middle row in our car! I think V is just sick of looking at his brother and sister and wants to see what's going on. I turned DS1 at 3 months old (he was huge and pretty much sitting by himself anyway! And he was in a booster by 18 months cause he was just too squished in the baby seat!)
Like everything, you will know what's best for Jazz I'm the same - can't wait til they're all facing forward! LOL!

Anyways my lovelies, undoubtedly, I'll be back tomorrow ... can't believe I'll have all my kiddies home ALL THE TIME after tomorrow! But it's all good, they can help me pack! Slave labour! LOL!

    Hey everyone
bit late for personals I'll do them tomorrow. I have heard that it's best to keep them facing rear ways as long as possible as this is safer for them. I Know what you mean about pulling them in and out of the car i was wishing today that she could get out by herself

Leasha - I have been contemplating turning K too. He's nearly 9kg and the car seat hes going into says "forward facing from 8kg" I have him in a capsule (hired) at the moment. Still a bit apprehensive about turning him around just yet though as I've read and had alot of people say that you should be waiting until they are 6 months before you turn them. Ahhh what to do

Well K decided to wake early today again Dad is back from NZ this afternoon, have to go to Coolangatta airport to pick him up. It will be good to have him back, I might be able to have a nap later!

Its so muggy here, its disgusting!

Anyways K is crackin' it so gotta go..... have a great day everyone!

Hi all, couldnt get on here yesterday either. G was really clingy all day after the jabs, just wanted cuddles and had big swolen lumps of her legs which looked painful!! poor chicken.

MM:i thought about not having them but DH was very against that, you read some horrible things and some good things.

Not sure about car seats, cant wait till she is the other way around, but she isnt big enough yet.

Squidipa: not sure about conversion rates, im making ginger bread men for christmas aswell..yum yum...but i like them a bit crunchy, not too soft (must be an english thing, i was born there) and i put more spices in...all spice/cloves/nutmeg/cinamon and use brown sugar.depends what you like though.

Grace was up at 12, 3 and up for the morning at 4. just put her back to bed, i stupidly stayed up late....10.20pm!!! so im off to try and get a little more sleep.

Hi to all i missed. have a good day, i have to get all christmas shopping finished today and post to the uk for family! so unorganised!

Bec - IKWYM about them being small ... my DD was 12 months old before I turned her! LOL! But she has been the smallest of the lot! My boys have all been BIG!

Sash - I wish it was muggy here! We have a thick layer of fog here - I watched the mist roll in yesterday afternoon!

Anyway, must get kiddies ready - last day of school today, don't really care if we are late LOL!

    G'day Everyone

Been working a lot this week so haven't been able to get online.

*WARNING RANT* When it comes to rear facing Nakita will be rear facing for as long as possible (until she reaches the maximum settings of the car seat in the rear facing position), I don't care whether she wants to look around differently or not, we give her books and toys to play with and we talk to her a lot and she also has a mirror to look in and we can see her in it too. Her safety is more important to me.

Australia has brought in laws that they must be rear facing until at least 6 months, with the exception if they are too tall or heavy for the restraint to be in the specified position, to me this isn't enough it should be 12 months as per the European and US Standards. We have the Safe and Sound Meridian and it is rear facing to 12kg. The inner head rest slides up too, giving you more time to keep the rear facing.

Watch these videos if you want to see why you should keep the rear facing:

    The Importance of Rear Facing

    Rear Facing vs Forward Facing

Sorry for the rant but I am very passionate about this, there is plenty you can do to keep bubs amused/entertained. With the rear facing seats you can also losen one of the side straps (that go over the back of the seat, our is on the Passenger side of the car, which makes getting them in and out a lot easier, we do that now, especially as Nakita is in the middle of the car, and it is too far to reach over. Then we tighten it once she is securely strapped in.

In the end it is your call, but for me the decision is clear. *RANT OVER*

Hope you are getting a nice sleep Beckoes, it sucks when they wake through the night! And when it comes to weight, they have NFI!!!! We are on the 10th percentile corrected here, and just hit the 1st percentile based on Nakita's actual age, I would hate to have seen your Dr's reaction to that!!! We saw our Dr the other day to pick up the referral letter for Nakita and he thought she was lovely, looks fab, and was happy that she was putting on weight and following a curve. FFS for 200grams to be over the 50th percentile and be told to give formula is a joke!! You are doing a fantastic job! If it were me I would be finding another Dr!!

Oo Last day of school MM, you gunna have a crazy house for the next few weeks!! Congrats on your new home, how exciting, I looked at the piccies on FB, looks fab!! We will be packing in the new year as well, soemthing I should get started on!!

Hope you dad has a safe journey home Sasha, and hope you get your nap, I need one myself!! Went to be at 1am.. N was up for a feed at 6.15am! Put her back to be at 6.45, woke her at 7.40am for a top up and a play and she is back into bed now, hopefully for at least another hour or so, want her to get a big sleep before prem playgroup today

Yay Joshies What a fab gain Squidipa!! I am so thrilled for you hun!! I didn't get to do Nakita's yesterday so will be doing it after her second feed today, will see how close she is to Joshie!! He might have overtaken her again!! hehe! Thankyou so much too, when ever you get a chance with the package, it is muchly appreciated!

Jazz is going great guns on the food Leasha!! We are waiting until after her Paed appointment next week to see what he recommends

Mel - boo hoo for working, I wish I wasn't but $$$, especially with building atm and still having our own house!

Alesia, can't help you on the volume as it is mostly boob, with a top up, but at this stage I think theya re supposed to be still drinking the same amount of milk and that they solids are more for learning about texture, taste etc. Sorry I can't be much help!

Kel, you have a great routine going there will Allegra, I hope it continues!

MT your birth story is great!! I PDF'd our Belly Buddies Thread, around the time when Nakita was born, it was jsut amazing to read all of the posts and see how quickly everyone started packing and the shock !!

    How is Eli going Rachel?

Big hi to Beth and Rach too!!

Nakita has her 6 moth Paed appointment next week, it was originally booked in for Christmas Eve, but we can't make it as we are going away, so they put us in next week, which is a bonus we now get most of it back on Medicare!! Got a few questions to ask, but expecting that it should go smoothly, he is lovely too so will be nice to see him again, would like to see her original Paed at some stage, he was just lovely too, might have t o have a look for him when we have time after Prem Playgroup.. but not going near NICU atm there was a suspected TB infection by one of the international dr's

Going to be 28 here today, I thought it was going to be cooler

I hope I havn't missed anyone if I have I am sorry xxoo!!

Hear ya on the car seat issues guys! It's so hard to get her out of it these days, now I get her to kind of stand up in the capsule so I can lift her out. But I think she is nearly too big for the capsule now so will have to get a whole new car seat.
Beth has been a bit funny in the mornings lately.... when she wakes up she hardly eats anything.... I assume she would be hungry cause she hasn't eaten for 10 hours but I struggle to persuade her to eat for 10 mins. Yesterday and today she was on the BB for about 5 mins and wouldn't have any more and then she brought lots of it back up. She seems healthy enough other than that though....
MM I know what is it with this weather? It was so cold last night I had the heater on in Beth's room. I was going to go into town to have lunch with a friend today but in this weather it won't be happening.
    Leash LOL at the Doodlebops
    Squiddy YAY for Joshie's gain!
Beck that doctor sounds like an idiot.... it is just not on to say something like that!
    sash nearly 9 kgs!
anyhoo better get going, big to mel, kel, MT, alesia and everyone!
Beema we were posting at the same time! hope you and Miss N have a great day

Pixie - K is like this too, doesnt drink his full bottle in the morning. He usually only takes at the max 150ml then I'm having to give him the rest an hour or two hours later when he goes for his morning nap.

Anyways quick one from me, was going to write more but he has just woken up... BBL

    WARNING VENT!!!

O.k im so ticked right now GRRRR, just got of phone to real estate as i re-rang them regarding the storm damage and washing line that got bent and buckled. I rang because i want it repaired by Christmas as the kids cant play out side with it in that condition as i fear they might take there eye out.

Well it turns out that insurance has to fix it so that may take some time fine i can understand that. BUT the cheeky real estate company is claiming on insurance for the owner the fence too and i know that the damage was not all done via storm cheeky...

Well thats not the bit i am annoyed about she just spilled the beans and said ive seen the washing line...im like AHHH what??? she said yeah i came round and took photo's u wernt home. EXCUSE ME thats not on i am soooo annoyed!!!
I cant afford to crack the wobblies with her as i NEED to renew my lease next year but GRRRR she aint allowed to do that i feel violated.
Down stairs isnt locked up now... but i will be putting a lock on it !!!!
she could have been walking through and checking out all my belongings GRRRRR unimpressed!!
    END OF VENT!

yesterday i put all the stickers on the electric quad i bought for DS3 its a shared gift with Josiah but now i am unsure if on Christmas day if he is going to be able to use it in yard with the line being the way it is.

Does anyone do self settling Josiah does not sleep unless in my arms and when i put him in COT yes we started that a couple of nights ago he sleeps for 10-15 mins then wont stay down in there so bacially he sleeps with em the whole time in between me and hubbie. So i don't get very well rested sleep as he needs to be chest to chest with me. the nurse/mw has said at this stage till he doubles his birth weigh eh cant afford to burn any more calories than nessesary but he is gaining so i dunno any thoughts tips? all my other kids managed to sleep by them selves. Josh doesnt even sleep through night now. Right now he is crying and i am like do i go get him or see if he self settles i dont think he would he would cry for ages better go pick him up.

Who has double their birth weight?????? and at what age was this achieved?

    Hi girls!!

I had probs getting onto bb too in the last few days.. lol but somehow it doesnt suprise me that this thread is still pumping out the posts!! haha I had two eaten so i am over posting!! lol Sorry- i said some really nice things to you all!!

RE car seats- our is still in reverse position and will be for a while. a friend of mine turned hers around too early i think- no dramatic horror story- she just didnt look right and wasnt holding her head right and when she fell asleep in the car seat her head fell to the side and it just looked wrong.

I'm gonna post this now incase it gets eaten and wont be too upset coz its just a little one!!

OH but first... WAHOO Squidipa!! Great gain!! I think i was the only one who guessed this week- so i WIN!! lol

    Bye for now

Squidipa- ummah what naughty realestate people you have. I would be surprised if they get the fence under insurance most insurance companies don't cover fences hopefully they have a super dooper policy . And congrats on Josiah's weight gain blew my 150g guess out of the water!

Sasha- I'm so over the humidity i wish it would rain and cool things down not rain and go back to being humid. Allegra is feeding the same lately she loves her morning naps now.

Vic- I saw on the news about the TB infection how scary You would think that doctors would be checked or immunised against these things especially coming form other countries into Australia and working around such fragile beings.

Pixie- I'm sure Beth will let you know if she's not getting enough

MM- You have a nice house there well done. I bet the kids are bouncing off the walls being the last day of school.

Bec- The running man that sooooo cute . hopefully you've had a good sleep. Have fun christmas shopping

Leash- LOL happy dance! Yeha that roach was HUGE and I can't believe they didn't react and do something I just had picturres in my head of when the stores closed and dark they would come out and crawl over the fresh produce

Hello Mel, Kiwigirl, MT, SB, CM4E and I'm sorry I have missed a few people

Well I was woken up this morning by a police car chase at the front of our house I started another thread with the details and I'm sooooooooo buggered the chase happened at 3:30 and I couldn't get back to sleep (too busy sticky beaking) I've had a hour nap oh welll might do christmas shopping later to wake myself up
I'm thinking of putting Allegra on solids soon I haven't yet as she seems pretty happy with the formula.
I wrapped our presents to the girls and put them under the tree yesterday and Cadence came home from kindy in a BAD mood I told her to look at the tree and tell me if there were more presents and she scream NNNOOOOOO until she saw there were more and the no changed to a YYEAHHHH with an evil giggle at the end but she was uspet cos Allegra's getting the biggest present

OH but first... WAHOO Squidipa!! Great gain!! I think i was the only one who guessed this week- so i WIN!! lol
    YEP u win!

I will happily take more guessed hehe,

Kel84 ill have to go read that thread then hey. I so hear ya about the humidity its like dripping of my arms when holding josh its terrible. Thats so cute and yet so typical she got the bigger one hahaha, On Christmas day everyone has to open the gifts one at a time from the section thats form family first then the kids get to choose one gift at a time form under the tree from Santa. I have Santa letters here to give to kids this week im getting exited for them. I gave josh a 5 cent piece of vegimite on toast this morning cause he always cries the second anything touches my lips even when in another room he has this uncanny abilitie as baby's do. i held the end and he sucked and sucked and sucked he loved it!! And now comes the debate is vegimite australian or form NZ lol.

Did anyone see the ad running in nz about Australians and new zealanders?????? It was on the news whats your thoughts???

Holidays oh my yeah tomorrow is last day of school got somethings planned but just so difficult int his humidity plsu i cant just go swimming when i want to i always have to schedule it in and more or less me time on that is none xistant.

SB yeah ya gotta hate how ya loose posts ive lost heaps all i can say is copy and paste

Kel - it's always the way ... the older they get, the smaller the pressies get! The kids will be bouncing off the walls tomorrow, I can tell you that much! Right now it's nice and quiet with Master Z at school, Miss K at preschool and Master V asleep!! Master K is eating yoghurt in front of the TV!
You want cool? Come to my place! It's like 11 degrees! And still foggy I might add!

Squidipa - the real estate is meant to organise with you to come over, not just show up! (but I'm sure you already know that )
Veygas self settles, but we did go through a patch when he had the hernia and the operation where he wouldn't sleep unless he was with me ... I didn't want to risk anything though after the op, so I started the whole thing back then, checking on him and calming him down every couple of mins if he was crying ... not talking or picking him up, but just stroking his head ... the big thing was wrapping him (he now associates wrapping wherever we are, with sleeping!) But I guess it's too hot up there to wrap ...

Vic - Good luck with the packing! I know for me, it will be a big clean out time as well! Just wish i could snap my fingers and be done with it!
    And a well justified rant!

Kat - my DS1 had full head control the minute he was born! But yeah, DS2 was reverse til about 8 or 9 months and V will prolly be the same - well, he doesn't look scrunched up in the seat yet ... BUT he spent a whole 40 minute drive this morning holding his head up No wonder he's asleep now, he exhausted himself!

Pixie - I'm having the opposite prob ... V is skimping on his last feed of the night - i literally have to force feed him cause if I don't, he wakes up a couple of times during the night. But we had a power chuck last night (though I think it's got more to do with teething, cause he had barely had anything at that stage!)

MM yeah we had that routine of wrap an sleep but the humidity and heat is to much he barley wears clothes and if i take him out i just put a singlet on if in shops then i dress him as he normally goes all splotchy and cold in shops. I let him cry a bit then tried to pat him but nope...... so picked him up put him on couch as he was in playpen and just shhh shhh shhh him and help his hand as he must have some form of contact and he did go to sleep.
