MM - will miss you, hope you are doing okay
Saffi - I bet M will get going very soon, I am sure she is just taking it all in her own time. Clapping and other things are all great signs!
AFU - had a great Easter , hope you all did too. I dressed Eli up in a bunny outfit for some pics. Yes, I am one of those mothers . He was a pumpkin at halloween etc.... Anyway, I'll put one of the pics in my ticjer so you can see. Must go, be back soon rach xx
-
mm - hope you are ok? Take care hun...
rach - saw the photos of eli as a bunny...im glad you are one of those mothers, cause the pictures are soooooo cuuuuute to look at! luv ya!
Saffi - i wouldnt worry at all about bubs not crawling yet...if at all...some dont! It doesnt say anything about their development at all. Commando crawling is efficient for her so wont fix what aint broke? She may go straight to walking from here, no problems at all!
AFU - Great easter for us. Kids had a great weekend, parents had a relaxing one (well as much as you can with 2 kids). Lots of food...FAR TOO MUCH actually...diet begins tomorrow! Well...im off to bed, have got first aid training in the morning, 9-5...YUK! Ciao ciao!

Yep girls, we are fine :) Sorry I should have said, but I was pushed for time when I posted. E is going great, started crawling on the weekend and had her 2 front top teeth come through as well. She is also starting to enjoy her solids a bit more. I just need some time away to concentrate on other areas of my life, like catching up on some sleep during the day seeing as E doesn't sleep at night LOL, as well as getting some work for my home business done. I have seriously neglected it since E arrived, as I'm sure you'll understand. It should only be for a few months that I won't be around I think.
Anyway, if anyone wants to keep up with us I'm on FB - just send me a PM and I'd be more than happy to add you as a friend ;)
Toodle-oo and see you all in a few months!

Hi everyone, another one popping in!! DS is going really well ATM. Is now crawling, bypassed commando crawling completely & I haven't stopped chasing him since. Started giving him finger foods this week which was absolutely terrifying but seeing as we had MCHN today I thought I'd better get onto it. But she was very surprised I haven't started him on meat yet!! I thought he was too young, anyone else got meat eating babies?
What else? Stood himself up yesterday while playing on the washing basket, just stood there gripping on looking very shocked lol.
I hope you all had a lovely Easter. What did all the babies get? DS got a book about the Easter Bunny from us & a beautiful soft bunny from his Grandma. His swimming teacher gave him a choccie bunny but DH & I scoffed that!!
Hope you're all well.
-
Hi ladies,
Hope everyone had a lovely easter!
Cheezelmonster - Lochie got a big white soft bunny, a feely book about animals and some choccy (much to Isaac's delight, who got to eat them on his little brothers behalf!)
Yes, we are onto meat here. Lochie has fish, chicken and beef. Fish more so than any other meat, but he also loves a bit of his daddys scotch fillet in his mash!
Congrats on your crawling baby....now the fun begins!
Megsmum - good to hear you are ok...goodluck with your business, looking forward to hearing from you again soon.
Hi to everyone else!
AFU - Lochie is crawling everywhere with increasing speed (and intense curiosity!!!!) He is pretty much into everything, we certainly have a very inquisitive little man on our hands. Its so funny, cause he makes so much noise when he crawls...he cant help but giggle his way around the place. Makes it easier to track him thats for sure. He is a great eater at the moment, eating 3 times a day and almost anything put in front of him. He had his first piece of bread this weekend. I gave him a piece of bakers delight crusty loaf, and he sucked it down...mere crumbs left behind! He seems to handle lumps and chunks very well, so will prob start him on some toast soon...with supervision of course! Sleeping is going ok...pretty much back to the one wake up again, although he is an early riser, getting up at 6-6:30am each day! He is also feeding 4 hourly (on his own accord) and staying awake for up to 5 hours at a time! We are down to 1 morning nap and one longish afternoon nap before bed at 8:30pm. Seems to be helping with night time sleep at the moment too.
Well, i think thats about all from us. Take care ladies,
Issy

Hiya all,
Been lurking but not much time to post. House is mostly settled into now but I've started back at uni (one subject). Class is on saturdays but I'm worried about next semester as child care is sooooooo hard to get in my area. I can do mostly evening subjects but will need care for fridays. Plus I really need to go back to work - we seem to be always scraping thru to DP's next pay day :( How can I work if there's no-one to look after Orla? (granparents all overseas).
OK that's enough whinging from me. Yay to all the babes crawling
Orla is still just getting onto her knees then freaking out (probably a few bumps on the head on the new wooden floors haven't helped!). Saffi that sounds like a load of b/s re not crawling. Plenty of babes go straight to hauling themselves up on furniture or do a 'bum shuffle' instead. I was staring to get a bit worried that Orla is yet to crawl but DP's mum reckons she'll be like her dad - barely crawled for a few weeks then straight to 'cruising'.
Cheezel we only just started meat last week - well fish actually - going to try some chicken tonight.
All the best Megsmum - hope to see you back here soon :)
-
koru - I know! That was from the same person who was telling me that custard doesn't have any sugar in it.
cheezel- no meat here yet. We are still on purees here. She really likes the apple based purees. Got to move her up to mashes too.
M got a bunny rabbit in a tutu for Easter from her grandparents. We didn't give her anything.
Rach - the photo of Eli is so cute.
M is sick at the moment. She (and therefore me) was up much of last night coughing. She's not having much of her bottles either. She is asleep now so am hoping that she will sleep for a while. Am at home tomorrow so hopefully she will be feeling a bit better.
Back at work now. One thing I've learned so far is that you need to be organised to get 2 kids fed, dressed and out the door in the morning. Yesterday we were just about to leave home and DH noticed DS had done a #2. No sooner than he was changed than M did one too. Her's went all up her back and needed a complete outfit change

Hello everyone,
Just another quick hello here. Been busy doing assignments, going back to work aand travelling for easter. Maternity leave is definitely over, I can tell because I have no time to do anything.
Baz has been getting increasingly clingy in the last couple of weeks, I am not sure if it is just because he has been unwell and not sleeping well and he has been spending more time without me when I go to work, or if this means another clingy baby for me - I hope not. Anyone else with a velcro baby?
Koru - it is so hard balancing work and study and children isn't it. Don't really have any advice, not quite sure how I manage it - it is so stressful trying to work it out, sometimes I wonder if its worth the hassle.
Saffi - even when I am all organised and trying to leave early, I somehow end up late - usually the dirty leaky nappy. Have just figured out that if I went up a size in the nappies it won't leak! My baby had grown and I hadn't noticed!
For all the baby's not crawling yet, my DD didn't crawl until 9mths old, she then only crawled a couple of times before she started walking at 10 months - and she never had any other developmental delays, despite me being told by a couple of people how if kids don't crawl, it can mess up their development (what a load of BS, if you'll excuse my language).
-
misty - yeah, I need to get larger nappies too
-
Hey all
Having a bad day today. Just feeling a bit depressed over the whole work situation etc. So as a result have ZERO motivation do do anyhting at all. House is a tip therefore more sad. Vicious cycle really. Sorry to be a downer. My bubs is still waking up heaps (3-5 times) a night. Pfft.... I have resigned myself this is going to be 'normal' for a while :wall::wall::wall:
Chezel - Hi hun :hello:
Misty - yep, Eli has been more clingy this week. I have noticed it for sure. We also went up a size in nappies about a month ago... Eli is so big, so long too. But oh so adorable ;) Also, totally agree with re: crawling
Saffi - thanks hun for compliment on pic. It is so fun dressing him up. I am sure he wil LOVE it when he is older - at least we have plenty of 21st photos. I have to get Eli on more meat. He loves chicken, must do fish this week. Well done on going back to work. Sounds like the routine will take some getting used to. Goodluck!
Koru - I hear you loud and clear re: going back to work! Just know you are not alone. I am lucky my mum can look after Eli, hope you find something suitable for your darling little girl too.
Issy - miss you, been too long. Need to talk to my friend in person :(. also, Issac is super cute!
Hope everyone has a good day tomorrow,
Rach xx

Hey girls,
Issy - Lochie sounds hilarious!! Must be so cute hearing that little giggle. DS is goes into stealth mode when he's exploring, very quiet & sneaky lol. Good luck with the toast. DS started toast this week & he LOVES it!!
Koru - Sounds like you're very busy!! I hear you on the lack of childcare, I have no one to look after DS either. Makes it hard doesn't it?
Saffi - Hope M is feeling better today.
Misty - It must be the age, DS has been really clingy the last couple of days. Keeps crawling over to me, sitting on my feet with his back against my legs. Pretty cute but hard to get anything done!!
TT- Eli looks gorgeous in his little outfit!! How do you put a pic in your ticker? Cannot for the life of me figure it out. Have you gone back to work? I must've missed some posts.
How did everyone go with the end of daylight savings? On Sunday DS had dinner at 3:30pm & was in bed by 4:45pm!! Monday morning he was up at 5:00am. But is slowly getting into the new time so to speak. Thanks for the replies regarding the meat - will probably start him on some chicken this week.
-
Hey Chezel,
When you make your ticker (with lilypie, not sure about others), at the end before you hit create, you'll see a camera on the left hand side. Next to the camera is a 'browse' button click on that and then you can select your pic from your folders as normal. Hope that helps! I found I have to compress some first otherwise they are too big. HTH!

hi ladies,
tippytoes - to answer your question about how to prepare fish...i usually boil it in milk, then mash it up and put it in with lochie's veggies. Otherwise i simply dice it up and put it in raw with his veggies, then into the microwave for 10mins, which usually cooks it, then mash it. Looking forward to seeing you and eli soon...maybe next week lunch?
cheezelmonster - yes, daylight savings was a bit bumpy for a day or so. Lochie is still getting up at 6am, and getting very tired by 6pm...so still a bit of adjusting to do there. But im sure it wont be long before its all sorted again.
Misty - Lochie is very clingy at the moment too. He crawls to my feet and whinges till i pick him up. Usually around dinner time, just when i need him OUT of the kitchen!!!!
Koru - we're the same with child care here. Lochie is on a waiting list at our local child care centre. They told me he would most probably have care by term 2, but they called today and are thinking it will be most likely around term 3...AHHHHH!!!! I was hoping to start work in term 2. Mum is not available alot of the time as she is a full time midwife in the group practice, which means when she is not working she is most likely on call, and i dont have any aunties here, sisters are full time workers...and sadly DH's mum passed away, so there is no one else. Im really starting to stress now!
Saffi - hope M makes a speedy recovery! Poor little bubba...
AFU - all good here. I think we are nearing the end of breast feeding. Lochie has never been a fantastic breast feeder, but in the last few weeks, he has been snacking and feeding for maximum 5 minutes at a time, which is decreasing my supply. Today I fed him, then minutes later he was crying and fussing, so i thought id give him a 200ml bottle of formula (thinking he would only have a bit as it was just a top up) and he drained it in minutes!!!!!! He was starving! He also refuses to take the breast in public...too distracting for him and continually pulls off or refuses it all together (even in the feeding rooms) and a blanket over his head makes it worse! He also wont feed if there are too many people around, too much noise, or visitors...ahhhhhhh!!!!!!! So, im thinking we might have to make the transition to the bottle. DS1 weaned himself by 10 months (a bit earlier than i imagined, but it was his own doing). I think we will be lucky to make it to 8 months with Lochie. Im happy to keep going and express to build my supply, but if lochie continues to be fussy with it, ill be fighting a losing battle. Anyway, im all good with it.
Hope everyone else is well...

Hey guys
Issy - thanks for tips on fish. I made it the way you said and I think he liked it but I need to make it smoother, add more water as he was chocking on it a little. I offered water which definately helped. As for BF, sounds like you have it under control.... you are so calm and rational, geees anyone would think you've done this before  That my friend is why I love getting advice from you!
Sounds like everyone's bubs are getting more clingy.... very interesting.

Hi everyone
Issy - 8 months is a fantastic effort. I'm in the process of weaning too. I technically started weaning at 4 months, I just didn't have the heart to give it up totally. I always offer a BF first and then follow it up with a bottle a little while later. I just assume that my supply is dodgy. Also M is biting at the moment. Another good reason to wean.
Rach -
Tip for getting a place in daycare - keep in regular contact with them. When I was looking for places for my kids I visited the centre, put our name on the waitlist, chatted to the Director and asked her advice on the best way to keep in touch. Mostly they recommend that you ring on a regular basis (ie. monthly). In both cases it was a case of I kept in regular contact that when a place became available they offered it to me (eventhough I suspect we weren't at the top of the list). Also be prepared to take any days they can offer even if you need more - once you're in then you have priority for places.
Looking forward to the weekend. This working business is tiring.

I'll be honest here. The ONLY reason I am still breastfeeding is because I am still trying to loose weight...sad, but it's the truth. I have either been pg of breastfeeding (or both) for the last 5 years and am just completely over it all and ready to have my body back to myself - BUT it means a significant amount less food I can eat while loosing weight. With Weight Watchers I am 'allowed' to eat 28 'points' worth of food each day whilst breastfeeding, when I stop breastfeeding I can only eat 21 'point' worth of food. I know there are heaps of benefits for Baz (Yadda, Yadda, Yadda) but it would be nice to be able to wear a REAL bra and clothes that don't have to be easy access. sigh. Just a couple more months....
-
BF didn't mean weight loss for me, but then I don't exclusively BF so that's probably the difference. I got myself some new bras the other day and it feels so good to be in a normal bra again.
BTW - congrats on the weight loss, misty you are doing so well. WW at work is at my office so thinking I might join up. No excuse really if they come to you!
Sick baby here. She has a cold runny nose, cough, fever and generally unhappy.
-
TT - Thanks for the tip. I'll have to have a play around with the ticker when I have more time :)
Issy - You've done so well to BF for 8 months!! Good on you both!! DS is also very easily distracted, even if it's just DH in the room. It makes it very hard doesn't it.
Saffi - eeek at the biting!! DS bit me once but hasn't since - gave me a real fright!! Hope you have a good weekend, sounds like you deserve it. Oh & I'm jealous of your new bras  I really want to get refitted but no point while I'm still BF.
Misty - I had to laugh at your comment about wearing a real bra - I feel exactly the same way. I'm sooo over BF bras, no support whatsoever!! Well done on the weight loss so far
DS is getting more clingy everyday!! House has got sooo messy as he won't let me do anything. Thankfully DH is on days off starting tomorrow so I'll be able to get some things done. He is also pulling himself up on all manner of innapropriate things that aren't steady & has suffered a few bumps on the head lately!!
Tried chicken here, not a fan.
