Hi everyone

Willow - WTG D on the mashed sweet potato. I think we'll introduce solids this week too. Lunchtime is a better time for us too. L doesn't rate vegies too highly here so I am hoping that I can introduce them to M and re-introduce them to L at the same time.
misty - you're building a house? Friends of mine are too and there just seems to be so many extras that they need to organise and pay more for. I'm sure once you are in you'll be very happy that you did it. Oh no on the root canal. Hope you aren't in too much pain.
tk - I hate it when that happens.

Not much happening here. Can't believe M will be 6 months on Friday. Where did that 6 months go??? Had to return the baby capsule this week. As much as the capsule was heavy to lug around it was so easy to keep her in it than to have to get the pram out etc especially when she was asleep.

its been an interesting few weeks here, 1st our car decided it didnt want to work anymore and i am now house bound until we can get it fixed ($2000) :angry:
but on the plus side we found out my sister is preg with her 1st, is so exciting and i cant wait, she's going for an ultrasound next week to see when shes due :hooray:

as for bub he's doing really well, he's in toddler nappies now :nappy:, and is really loving the solids, pumpkin is by far the favourite followed by a mix of apple/peach/pear, he also had his first ice block yesterday, it was so funny to watch(didnt have fun cleaning it up though). still no teeth yet but drooling and chewing on everything even on air :P

My little boy is 6 months old today :o

I cannot believe how fast it's going third time around!

We have his christening on this weekend. I can't believe how fast he's growing :(

Hi everyone else!

Just a quickie because E is awake and we had not much sleep again last night :wall: I think we'll start solids in the next couple of weeks sometime too, at lunchtime I think too just because it seems to be the least busy time of the day. Any recommendations for what to start her on? I was thinking RC but then I thought veges might be better?? I really just want to keep it simple KWIM?

Also, I have been meaning to ask - on a funny note....does anyone else have a bub with a funny hairdo?! E's is a classic now, its short all around the back and sides but she has this long mohawk type thing on top of her head that also falls down on to her forehead. I try to brush it down and it just looks like a really bad combover ROFL

Saffi - we are building an investment property. The sad thing is it is going to be even better then our house we currently live in, but we cann't afford not to rent the new one out and still keep both houses. We are hoping that my younger sister will rent it off us.

willow - Hope the christening goes well. :) we have Baz's christening at the end of feb.

Mel - that sucks about the car. But congrats to your sister.

Willow - Happy 6 months to bubba D!!! I can't believe how fast that went :o. It feels like yesterday that L & K were that age!

Misty - What a big project building an investment property! It would be so hard knowing it's nicer than your current house! That would be great if you could rent it out to family :). We own a little investment apartment that's right on the beach, we'd love to live in it, but it's only one bedroom LOL!

mad4me - Bummer about your car :(. That's great that Aiden has taken so well to solids!

Saffi - I can't believe M is almost 6 months! Time goes too fast when you have kids!!

AFM - Had a busy week with DS1 starting primary school on Monday. Luckily he loves it. It has been so strange without him around, although he's home today, he has each Wednesday off in Feb. Alana had her immunisations yesterday and has been so unsettled the poor thing. She is starting to commando crawl forwards and can rock on her hands and knees. A couple of times she has crawled a couple of steps forwards on her hands and knees. It seems so early compared to my boys! DS2 didn't crawl until he was about 8 1/2 months old. I hope she figures it out properly soon, she gets so frustrated when she can't get where she wants to go!

We'll be starting solids next week I think, hopefully she is a good eater like her brothers were. I have just bought a Safe T Sleep wrap from eBay to try and keep her on her back in her cot. She rolls over and parties overnight, then cracks it when she's had enough, so frustrating! Hopefully this wrap will hold her in place :crossfingers:

Hello hello!! Been awhile since I last posted - first my monitor broke, then my computer died twice!! Finally have everything up & running again. Wow so hard being without internet access, I was devastated lol.
Had a brief read, very impressed with those starting solids!! I'm really nervous about the whole thing I must admit & want to put it off. But I will be starting next week some time as DS is SO ready!! He tries to swipe food out of my hand & steal my drinks :lol: MCHN wasn't much help to me though - what veggies are best to start with? Are there any we should avoid early on?

DS is going well. Weight 8.1kg & length 70cm now!! He grew out of his bassinet over the weekend (thanks Trish :) got great use out of it!!) so decided to move him into his own room instead of bringing the cot into ours. I meant to co sleep for longer but it just felt like the right time. Also weaned him off his wrap at the same time. Must admit - we camped out in his room for a few nights lol!! He now loves the cot & sleeps all over the place. Today he started really trying to move, getting up on his toes & hands, did a few bunny hops forward but mostly just managing to wriggle backwards. Very cute to watch!!

well, as usual iam so far behind on this chat right now, would take me forever to read all of your posts and respond so im afraid you'll have to forgive me for the lack of persies.

Well, everyone is saying it...time has flown!!!! where have 6 months gone (well, almost for us!). Our little man is growing bigger everyday, and certainly getting more and more cheeky! He's absolutely in love with his big brother and thinks he is hilarious. Lochie is the happiest little man around, always laughing and squealing. We started solids again this week, after a bumpy start a few weeks ago. He seemed to enjoy eating, but was so unsettled at night. We think perhaps his gut wasnt quite ready. But this week, he's all good. Had a rough night last night, but they are certainly few and far between. He generally goes down between 7:30pm and 8:30pm, wakes at around 4-5am for a quick feed and then sleeps till 6:30-7am. I used to be able to get him back to sleep after 6:30am feed but now he wont have a bar of it and is bright eyed and bushy tailed...ready to start the day. Actually, it suits us well at this stage as I have to get DS1 off to school by 8:30, and by the time we get back he is ready for his morning nap.

Lochie has also started getting up on his knees and can comando crawl along the mat...always on a mission to GET THAT TOY!!!! No teeth for us yet, but bucket loads of dribble. I give him rusks now and whilst they are the messiest things ever, he enjoys them and rubs them along his gums.

Just in regards to RC - we are sticking to that for 2 weeks before introducing anything else, we dont wont to give him too much too soon, we want his gut to get used to digesting solids first. He has had some pear, nectarine and banana though, in small amounts in his little net thingy (have no idea what they are called!!!). He loves fruit so far. Ill introduce veggies soon. It is reccomended to use RC in the first few months of introducing solids as it is high in iron. You can just add other things to it, like veggies and fruit, but best to continue using it. Also, apparently its best to introduce fruit first as its more easily digested and better for a maturing gut. Veggies come after fruit as they are a little heavier and harder to digest.

Also, lochie is in his cot now and loving it...after 5 months of co-sleeping (as in sleeping in his bassinette in our bedroom ). We still wrap him, even though he can roll, as it helps him settle and stay asleep for long periods. I know when he is ready to wake up he can get himself out of it pretty quickly. The dummy and wrap have worked beautifully as sleeping cues for him and he goes to sleep without fuss and can self settle really well. I have rarely had to settle him myself and he has never cried himself to sleep. He likes to stare at the mirror on his built ins as he falls asleep. So, all in all, we have a very happy healthy little boy...an absolute joy to have around. We feel so very blessed.

Im glad to hear everyone is doing well, and i look forward to keeping up with everyone from now on.

Firstly Happy 6 months to my little princess Imogen. I love you so much and can't imagine my life without you.

Sounds like everyone is going great with the introduction of solids. I think we'll introduce her this weekend. Probably just try RC first and then go from there.
Cheezel - I don't think there is any particular order veggies should be introduced but I would suggest potato, sweet potato or pumpkin first. Perhaps a sweeter veggie would be more palatable and taste similar to BM and make the introduction more successful. I don't know if its an old wives tale but I've heard you should introduce veggies first then fruit to avoid the baby getting a sweet tooth????

Don't think M is ready to crawl yet. She does move around the bed/floor a lot and really quickly but so far no pushing up onto hands/knees. Quite happy for her to be a stationary lump for a little bit longer.

Sleeps - well we are making some progress with her day sleeps - that is she is now having 2 sleeps of about an hour. Overnight is still not too good. Bedtime is around 9pm and she'll normally be awake at around 12.30am and then she's pretty much co-sleeping/feeding for the rest of the night or if I give her a bottle she'll be awake at around 4am.

Good news - we have got M into daycare. I go back to work after Easter and DS's daycare is able to take her starting early March. I would have preferred for her to start at the end of March but I can't lose the place so it means that the last month of my Mat Leave I will be home by myself. DH was going to take time off to look after her if we couldn't get a place but now he's thinking he might take a few weeks off to spend with me.

Got M's professional photos back yesterday, They are so beautiful I just couldn't help myself and bought too many. Before you say it Trish I will try to load them onto FB.

Anyway M is whinging so going to try to put her down for a nap. Have a good day everyone.

I havent heard that introducing fruit before veg will develop a sweet tooth, but im not sure if the introduding fruit before veg is better for their guts either...just read it in a paed pamphlet. I dont think it really matters, just go what you want and what they like I say.

Just gave lochie avocado...LOVED IT!!!! A girfriend of mine told me that mushing banana and avocado is really nice and babies love it...sweet but creamy...and he did!!!!

saffi - hope the nights get better for you, imj sure they will, they all settle in thier own time, ds1 took 2 years!!!! but now a great sleeper!

Hi everyone else!

We have commando crawling here over the last few days, she pushes right up on her hands and moves around. Getting closer to sitting too I think, she was sitting near me yesterday for a bit longer than normal without falling over. We have also had a swimming lesson this morning which she is loving, spent most of the lesson hitting the water with her hands and kicking her legs, funny little thing she is.

hi megsmum - the net thingy is this thing like a dummy, but instead of the teat, it has a small net, you open to the top of it and put food in it, then the baby can suck on the food but not get any large chunks that could choke them. I put pieces of cold apple, nectarine and banana in it and let him suck away on it. He usually sucks the banana and nectarine through it (they kind of mush it as they suck) and the cold apple is great for teeting. You can put meat in it also, so they the nutrients without actually eating it. Also, frozen water melon, rock melon etc is great, cold on their gums, but yummy to suck on the juice. I got mine from target. But im pretty sure they are eveywhere.

All these babies are doing so well with their solids, crawling, rolling and sitting. DD was 6 months on Wednesday. Although technically isn't 6months until another good 3 weeks. She isn't interested in food yet but we will continue to try every few days.

We saw the MCHN yesterday and she has grown a fair bit. She is now 6.5kg and 65cm long. Her HC is 42.5 and as the health nurse said "growing into her head now" hahaa.

Miss Z is sitting on her own now and only falls when she no longer wants to sit or is too excited kicking around. We just need to teach her to get into the sit position herself. There are no signs of her crawling and she has got lazy with her rolling. MCHN said this is common as they often stop doing things while they're off learning a new skill.

Swimming lessons are going well, she just loves them, quite the little water baby.

Sleeping has improved out of sight with me cutting out dairy so long as I act on her tired signs straight away. She has however been waking regularly thru the night again but I don't mind as she most often feeds then sleeps. Last night she slept from 10pm til 730am yes you read that right I was so shocked.

We are off on a holiday next week for just over a week. Going to visit the beach on our way to see my sister and meet my niece (the one that had open heart surgery at 2wks old). Can't wait to be able to go to a park, beach, have a coffee and generally get out of the house and visit a shop!! Looking forward to getting some toys for DD as we really don't have any for her at the moment and she is becoming quite bored. BY the time we get back we will have done at least 4,000km.

Saffi: Glad you got the day care spot. It would be lovely to be able to spend some quality alone time with DH

megsmum: E's hair sounds cute funny, Z's hair is growing back now, lighter than before but still not the blonde we thought she'd have. She does have a bald spot on the back of her head though lol

Willow Christening, that will be lovely. We're not doing the christening thing but would love to have a naming ceremony. Just not sure where to have it, here with all her friends or Queensland with all our family and friends that would love to be part of her life if we didn't live a billon km's away.

Elle05 - sounds like your DD is coming along in leaps & bounds!! I'm glad you mentioned what your MCHN said about not doing things while they're learning new skills. Makes me feel better about DS - he was always trying to sit up & since starting crawling (or trying to) he's stopped.

Tippy - Eli sounds like a real active little boy :)

AFM - Poor DS is still getting up on his toes & hands, then bunny hopping. A few minutes of that really wears him out & he gets sooo frustrated!! Yesterday I left him on his back for a couple of minutes, when I came back into the room he had flipped onto his tummy & moved about a metre backwards :lol:
The last few nights he has slept from 11pmish to 7ish!! Unheard of in this house so am really glad we got him into the cot. Of course I'm still having trouble letting go & am often up & down overnight just checking on him :redface: even though I have a monitor!!
He had his first swimming lesson last week. Spent most of his time staring at all the other babies & smiling, along with splashing with his hands - so cute!!

Well, we introduced M to RC on the weekend. A lot came oozing out and there was a little bit of gagging but generally she tolerated it. She is so interested in food. She was sitting on my lap while I was having dinner last night trying to grab handfuls of my risotto! Going to keep up with the RC for a week or so yet and then try pumpkin or sweet potato. Are any of the bubs up to three solid feeds a day yet?

Rach - how'd the sweet potato go? I think you can mix RC and BM into anything. Might be an idea to help introduce new foods if there is some accepted food in the mix.
Ellee - have a good holiday! Yay for Z doing so well!
Cheezel - great sleeps. M is still in her bassinet and I am certain now much of her waking is that she bumps her head. M's room still isn't painted (long story) so haven't moved her into her cot yet. Maybe I should just put her in the cot and deal with the decorating when that happens. How did you find his transition from bassinet to cot?
Issy - my DS is a good sleeper too... now. Mind you we are still up to him at least once a week but now its because he has fallen out of bed or he is busy watching the rain/storms from his window and making heaps of noise.

Well, it has been a busy few days here. Eli has had pumpkin and sweet potato and loves them. We got him a walker and he loves all the toys on it and doesn't move around a whole lot yet. He is teething BIG time - I think he will get his second bottom tooth very soon. He is still waking every 3 hours or so :doh:. But exciting news he said 'mumma'. YAY! I don't know if he'll say it again today but I loved it. Also, we are going to our first swimming lesson on Friday. Even greater news we are going with issy02 and Lochie :dance:! They will be so adorable!

Saffi - yep, mixed the RC with BM and then with sweet pot/pumpkin. Sounds like she has the right idea with the risotto. Eli is only on one solid meal a day ATM.

CheezelMonster - Awww love your avvy! Is it new or am I slow? You feel bad for them when they get so frustrated hey? But it is so cute at the same time ;) :Yay for swimming and great going on the sleep front! Can he please teach my son how to do that too?

Issy - I had avo + ban on toast cause it sounded so nice! It was lovely, my dad also wants to try it :lol:

I am sorry I haven't been in here for AGES. I have been having a really rough time lately. I went to my GP a few weeks ago and told him I thought I might have PND. We talked about it a bit and he said I was just taking a bit longer to adjust to motherhood. I left feeling quite dejected and felt silly... maybe I was just taking longer to adjust to this new role...

Things were getting worse and I started seeing a kinesiologist for stress management. It has been good then over the weekend just gone it has all gone to pot... I feel really down and just not able to cope. DP and I have had massive arguements... I am going to see another GP today at 2.45pm to talk because something is not right.

DP and I almost split up this weekend gone... we may still... things are all up in the air.

I have been reading just not able to post.

DD is 6mths old tomorrow - eek! We will be starting solids then but I have no idea if DD is ready... she still has a strong tounge thrust but I will try it and if she doesn't take to it then... we shall try again. I am going to do Baby Led Solids (BLS)... just need to get my head around it LOL

I am so sorry you have had such a hard time of it. I think you are really sensible for going to see another dr, follow your instincts. If you feel someting is not right then you are probably right. It really is a time of change isn't it when you have a new baby. DH and I have had to adjust a lot too. Acutally DH is pretty much the same, he is very consistant, but I know I have changed. I think everyone's relationship changes somehow. I really hope you are okay, hun. Just try to take things slowly and not make any big decisions until you feel a bit more like yourself again.

tk - :hug: hun, I'm so sorry you are having a rough time. It IS a big adjustment having your first bub, I felt it terribly with DD1. We had feeding troubles, she cried a LOT and I was also having heaps of trouble adjusting to being a mum after working full time for 13 years. DH thinks I had borderline PND, but I don't know. But anyway, this is about you not me! What I'm trying to say is that if you think you have PND, trust your instincts and seek further help - good on you for going to see another GP. Don't let some silly dr make you feel like you are a naive new mum - you know yourself best! And it is a tough gig being a mum, don't let anyone tell you otherwise.

I hope you are alright and take care of yourself OK? And happy 6 months for tomorrow :)

Big hugs TK :hug:. I'm so glad you are going to find another GP. As the others have said, motherhood is a massive adjustment and it can be so overwhelming. Throw sleep deprivation and hormones into the mix and it's definitely not a good combination. When I had DS1, DH & I had a lot of arguments, I think parenthood was a bit of a rude shock for DH too. We ended up getting counselling and it was the best thing we could have done. We sorted through our issues and learned ways of dealing better with each other. I'm sorry you are going through such a rough time, I hope you can get the help you need :hug:.

Just wanted to pop in and say a quick hello, I haven't caught up on today's posts yet. It's 1030pm and I've just finished 95% of the packing of the car, we're leaving no later than 5am to start our 2728km journey to see my sister. Added an extra 600km to our trip because I was lucky enough to get Miss Z into a Osteopath that specialises in Children & Babies, and also Cranial Osteopathy :D She has been recommended to us and not usually able to get into her without quite a lot of notice. Will be great to get her plagiocephaly and reflux looked at. We're away for 9 days and I'm not sure that I'll get to check in until I get home.

Looking forward to catching up with everything. Hope all is well, your bubba's are spoiling you with laughter and love.

Saffi - I started putting DS in his cot for day sleeps for a couple of days, then did one night in his bassinet in his room before putting him into the cot for ALL sleeps. I also made sure I was home for all his sleeps to maximise his exposure to the cot IYKWIM. This is because we had tried the cot the other week & poor DS was terrified of it!! Good luck with it :D Oh and I totally understand about not having painted - we've only just got his room carpeted & curtains up!!

Tippy - yeah avy is relatively new, thanks!! Wow sounds like Eli is a great eater so far. Have a great time at swimming lessons - I'm sure Eli will have a blast!!

Thanks ladies for your support. It means a lot to me... and I am sorry I didn't come in for support earlier... just was not in a good headspace and also didn't really want to admit that something was wrong :redface:

I went to the GP and it was a lot better... she listened to me!! This was the first time I had seen this doctor (she is the GP of one of my friends)... I am impressed with how quickly she acted on what I had told her as opposed to my GP (who I have been seeing for 10+ years) who dismissed everything I said.

So I have been referred to the Perinatal Mental Health team, I will be starting meds today (won't hinder BFing which was my main concern) and new GP and I will draw up a mental health care plan today and I will start seeing a psychologist.

DP and I have a long road ahead of us... I don't know if we will come out the other side as a couple or what... but for DD's sake we both agree that we need to be civil.

Happy 6months to my DD!! I can't believe it... we have a clinic appointment for the 6month checkup and then we are going to start solids tonight for dinner... not the optimal time to start I don't feel but it will only be for tonight. I want DP to be here when she has her first try of solids. From tomorrow we will have solids at lunchtime.

I promise there will be persies next time :hug:

Solids are going well. Still just doing the RC which she seems to like (?).

Grrrr... I am sooo sick of being tired and grumpy and feeling like I want to leave my oldest 2 kids on the side of the road somewhere. They have been driving me to tears for the past week. All I seem to be doing is screaming at them and getting them in trouble - and not little things I can just ignore, but things like pinching, pulling hair (my son) and being extremely moody and throwing wobblies if the cat even looks at them the wrong way (my dayghter). But absolutely NOTHING I do or say changes a thing, they still fight and do naughty things. I am over it! seriously, it is just making me ssooo stressed out that I am not a pleasant person to be around and am starting to overreact to some of the little things that just don't matter.

And if I am being completely honest, I really resent the fact that I am struggling with 3 kids and don't even warrant a second glance, let alone a helping hand from anyone; when my sister who is a single mum to ONE four year old boy, who is in daycare 9-5, five days a week and spends most of the weekends with either his grandparents or his father (while she actually has a life and friends) gets all the attention and support and people bend over backwards to help her because "it's so hard being a single mum". Even if I ask for help (which is very rare) it is like pulling teeth and any concession I get off anyone is like pulling teeth and then I have to listen over and over about how helpful that person is being and what a favour they are doing me.

Sorry this post has just turned into a real rant, but I am just at the end of my tether here. The baby is the only thing that isn't causing me any stress in my life at the moment, and I just want to take Baz and run away from it all and let someone else deal with it for a change. Preschool starts on thursday, thank god for small mercies.

Baz has cut two teeth over the past week, he is enjoying trying them out by biting everything. And he has now started to pull himself into sitting position and is already trying (unsuccessfully) to pull himself up on the funiture.

Misty, just wanted to give you a massive :hug:. I am only have one bub so I can only imagine how difficult it can be with 3, especially when you don't feel very supported. Feel free to vent. Take one day at a time and hey, preschool starts soon. Hopefully things will settle down, maybe it is just a yukky week?

TK - Yay for a good Dr. I am so glad to hear of the plan you have in place. Here for you. Also, Happy 6 Months to your DD!!!

MFU - DS is def teething - its driving him nuts. Seems to be in quite a bit of pain, speaking of which I must go and give him some gel. Will be back later for other persies :grouphug:

misty - vent away! I can only imagine how tough it is with 3 littlies at home. My DS does my head in sometimes and he's only home 3 days. I really think SAHMs are unrecognised in the community. There appears to be more support and understanding for the working mums. Its a shame that sometimes we have to fall in a heap before anyone takes our requests for help seriously. Hoping you don't get to that point.

Anyway, M is whinging so might look at a feed and try to put her down for a nap (she only had a few minutes last time I tried).

TK - Im so sorry to hear that you have been struggling, im so glad you were able to find the help you need, and remember... you are not alone...there are so many mothers out there that feel exactly the same way, but unfortunately will never seek help. Good on you for recognising that things werent right and for taking the steps to make it better, i imagine thats the half the battle. Motherhood isnt easy for anyone, and those who claim its all perfect...LIARS!!!! I wish you all the luck in the world hun, and we are ofcourse always here to listen.

Misty - Oh hun, being a mother is a tough gig...beautiful (most of the time) but bloody exhausting! I feel like im yelling at ds1 a lot at the moment too...always telling him to be gentle around bubs, fighting with him to brush teeth, do readers
(homework in general), eat dinner...infact i get arguments for most things! Oh dear, i love the little fella more than i can say, but wow, the arguments are doing my head in!!!! Sometimes I look forward to bedtime for both of them so I can just sit...be still...and breathe!!!!! I have found that now I have more than 1 child, people are less inclined to offer help and babysitting, as more than 1 is harder for them. Im doing so much more on my own now than i ever did before, and i prob need it NOW more than i did before! Anyway...perhaps you can leave the kids with hubby and have a night out on your own, or with some girlfriends, just to unwind and feel like you again, that always helps me. Good luck, and breath, tomorrow you'll probably feel a lot better.

Saffi - GL with the move to the cot. I also started by putting bubs in there for day naps, then made the big move to night sleeps about a week or two later. He seemed to handle the transition just fine (better than me anyway ;)).

Cheezlemonster - good luck with starting solids. It seems to have come around so quickly doesnt it? I feel like I just established breastfeeding! Time flies!

Thanks for the support girls. I am hoping things calm down a bit once DD starts preschool 2 days a week. I think her and DS1 need a break from each other.

Poor Baz is a little crook at the moment. He has a runny nose and red eyes. Hopefully it doesn't turn into anything too bad, and the other two don't catch it.

I forgot to tell you all, I now have my liscence! Got my P's on friday :)

tippytoes - Hope those teeth pop through soon, teething is no fun. I know Baz was alot better once the teeth actually got through the skin.

Misty - congrats on getting your P's!!! Do you have your own car yet?

The big news here is that M is teething!!! I was feeling around her mouth earlier and there it was a little sharp edge. She isn't showing any symptoms at all so I would have totally missed it. She is now pulling and biting at the nipple and it really hurts. Me thinks we'll be weaning very soon!

Made up the cot so I'll try her out in it tomorrow.

Hope you get over this hump soon :hug: Congrats on getting your Ps! I was a late bloomer too, I didn't get mine till I was about 22 I think.

Saffi - Happy 6 months to Immy! Good luck with the cot transition, we are already in our cot but thinking of moving him into his own room soon.

TK - :hug: How did your appt go? I hope you are feeling better soon. Motherhood is a huge adjustment for everyone, so be kind to yourself.

Trish - How's the Safe-t-sleep going?? How is Joel liking school?

We are doing well. Still not having great nights around here but it has improved slightly over the last week.

Question for those with good day nappers - how many naps is your bub having now? We are still doing 3 but I'm finding the timing isn't working well any more. He wakes at about 7-7.30am and I get him up for the day because we need to get ready for the school run. We get home at about 9.15am and he goes straight down for a nap, usually sleeps till about 10.30-11.00am. So then he's ready for another nap 2 hours later, generally about 12.30pm-1pm. This is where it gets hairy....he generally wakes at around 2.30pm but sometimes as late as 2.45pm. I have to wake him at that time in any event to get to school to pick DD up. But then if I want him to have another nap before dinner, he has to go down by 4pm (4.30pm at the absolute latest) and I wake him by 5pm if I want him to go down well at night. Problem is, he's just not ready for another nap at 4pm most of the time, but going from 2.30pm to 7pm is too long to stretch him out :wall: The last two days he has woken from his second nap at about 2pm so has gone down for his last nap OK (sleeping from 4-5pm). But then has been very hard to settle for bed that night. Today he woke at 2.45pm so I tried to put him back down at 4pm (so he'd only been awake 1 hr 15 mins) and didn't want a bar of it. I tried for about 1/2 hour then gave up.

I think it's just one of those awkward phases where he is not quite ready for 2 naps but doesn't always need 3 :dunno:

AFU, happy 6 months to E for tomorrow :dance: We are starting solids on the weekend too, I thought I'd just wait and do it then because week days just seem to be such a rush ATM. I know I'll have to fit it in somehow, but want to take it easy the first couple of days KWIM? She looks like she is ready - she is fascinated with watching us eat and loves sitting up at the table with us - so hopefully she will go OK.

The kids have been good today (mostly :) ) So hopefully they are over the stint of rattiness (lnock on wood).

Willow - Well at least I managed to get my liscence before my 28th birthday in April, I am actually loving driving everywhere. As for the day sleeps, we are having similar problems - Baz has around 3 sleeps a day, but there is no consistency as to when or for how long, and lately he has been wanting a sleep around 6pm which messes up the night time sleeps. Mind you, it doesn't help that DS1 likes to sneak in and wake him up to "play" whenever I do get him down.

Megsmum - Yay on starting solids. I have started them, but always forget, so he will go 2 / 3 days between having them. The other night after we all ate dinner, I had Baz in the highchair and was making up some rice cereal - when I came back I discovered he was covered in chocolate. My DS1 had decided to share his milkyway with the baby. The rice cereal didn't have a chance after that. :lol: So one of my baby's first food was a milkyway: DD didn't try chocolate until 18mths, DS1 was 12mths and now DS2 had chocolate at less then 6mths.

Saffi - they generally grow out of the biting the nipple very fast (particularly if it means the boob it taken away when the do it). But "ouch" it's not fun is it.

Well, Baz is definitely sick at the moment. Poor bubba. He is all clammy, red eyed and runny nose. He is a little clingy at the moment too - wants mummy.
