HEY!
Sehra - Wow! 2nd grade! Thats fantastic! Congratulations! We don't wrap Jensen any more, it seems to be getting too warm up here to even wear wondersuits, but thats all he really has for bedtime. So he wears a wondersuit and a thin sleeping bag (from Target). He always hated having his arms wrapped- he loves them above his head! So he can't kick the sleeping bag off, so we're all happy. Jensen has been having colicky days, at one stage like a week straight. It'd start at 4pm and go thru til 9-9:30pm. He'd scream and scream and scream. Gets a bit much, and its terrible to hear him like that. He sounded like he was in pain and there was nothing I could do about it. We tried the Infants Friend before a feed so it could start working while he's feeding. I also found that when he was colicky or stressed out, I was never the one who could calm him. Apparently, it has something to do with that he can smell my milk and basically just associates me with food. *sigh* The last 3 nights have been fantastic! Fingers crossed it continues.
Rebecca - Jensen is the same with night feeds. Each time he wakes, which is like 2hr clockwork, he's hungry. I think thats the only reason he wakes most times. Most times, thats all wants, and he gets it and a gentle burp not to wake him and back to bed he goes! LOL @ the nappy changing! I don't have a penis so i don't know if I'm doing it right either! And I'm quick at the change - but sometimes just not quick enough! He gets it all over the change mat, but never on me! Normally he hates being undressed, even for a new nappy, but the last couple of days, he seems to be happy to air his area!
Neuri - I'm not sure when the smiling starts! Just before 4wks, Jensen started cooing coz he was happy and what I think was smiles for fun! But we're recording the official smile as at the 18/09/07 (conveniently 1mth to the day!). Shame he wasn't smiling at me tho. Me time? Whats that? Being on here is my me time. Anytime he's sleeping is me time. I have been walkin round the shops the last few days, so I guess thats me time. I did go to lunch with my mother and mil yesterday, but I had Jensen with me.
Sara - wow! 6cm in 6wks! Jensen's 4wks and he's grown 2cm :( When i weighed him Tuesday he was 4.8kg, 1kg up from birth. Good luck with your STAT. Which contraceptive? Means we'd have to be dtd.... lol No idea just yet. It was basically just timing and condoms before- or sadly, not dtd at all.
Kirst - Yes, the father should be able to figure out whats going on with the baby - but apparently Andrew wasn't programmed with that ability. He doesn't really know what to do. Basically when he comes home, he cuddles with Jensen, changes his nappy or bathes him - but all with my instruction. He's happy just to fall asleep together. Funnily enough the other morning I had Jensen in the bed with us, on a pillow between the pillows and went off to make Andrew lunch. Jensen cried and cried - LOUDLY - and even though Andrew had his arm around him, he slept right thru it and didn't notice til I came up and asked why he wasn't comforting him! I'm right up there with you with dtd. I was also up for it 2wks after, but Andrew wasnt too keen coz of the stitches. But today - well. Woo hoo. Least this way, if we had a problem we could tell the dr about it at the 6wk checkup! There wasn't really a problem, i think we just aggitated the stitches. We didn't use any protection, I have no idea when the fertile period starts again. AF hasn't arrived back yet & we're breastfeeding... what are the chances?!?
Ali - Jensen sometimes brings up thick milk - and sometimes a lot - but usually only after he's been a bit piggy. He seems to be ok.
Ok, now I've caught up with you....
On the 18th (1mth), we went to Twinkle Toes and got his hands and feet moulded and went to pixie foto. He's only this little once. How expensive is pixiefoto! I'm only going to get the free one that the voucher offered from the Bounty Bag. He did really well at pixie, coz he was nudie - and he hates that. Didn't cry much. Just fussed towards the end. Holding him for one of the photos, he happyily pooed thru the babywipe, thru my fingers and onto the satin prop. Fun. The Twinkle Toes gave me a voucher for a photo to go with the mould, so we did that yesterday. Another few nudie shots (they just seem to show how little they were better) and he was on his even better behaviour! It was fantastic! Oh! He's losing all his hair! He started going bald on his left side. He looks lopsed. Seems to be evening out with the right starting now. The big chunk at the back (which Andrew loving refers to as his mullet) doesn't seem to be going anywhere, which is good. I don't know if my milk is playing up. I can no longer just weigh them in my hands to find which has more, they're just floppy and baggy. :( He seems to feed ok, but I can't hear him swallow. Is anyone's babybrain still hanging about? I was wondering where Jensen's red towel was. He was given two from his Nana, the other was blue. I was so sure I put it in the basket to be washed. I was just out at the line now and realised... I know where it went... It wasn't red and blue towels, it was yellow and blue. :wall:
He's in the middle of a big nap now, 3hrs! Do I have a chance to go and put more washing on and hang some out before wakes? Maybe some more house work next nap. I'll quickly get it done now - coz he's waking up!
Thanks for hanging in there to get this far! I'll try not to have so much time between posts.

Hi girls,
Great to see that Brent and I were'nt the only one's never using contracetption. We have been together for 6 1/2 years and hardly used contraception. I was 17 when i first met him and not using contraception caught us out twice. I first fell pregnant when i was 17 and miscaried the pregnancy. Then again when i was 19. Due to circumstances we decided it was best to terminate the pregnancy.
After my first pregnancy i went on the pill for a while but decided it just did'nt agree with me. After the second time we just tried to be careful. Silly i know after what we had to decided to do with the second pregnancy. But after a while i was happy to fall pregnant. I always wanted to and was adament about going ahead with the first pregnancy even though it was not looked on nicely at all by my family. I guess because of this i was always scared to just let myself be happy about falling pregnant. There was always this wall holding me back deep down.
After i turned 21 i did'nt care at all. I had made the decision to just let things flow then. We were'nt going to actively try and have a baby but if it happened it happened. And sure enough 2 months after my 21'st birthday i fell pregnant with Briley. Obviously it was meant to be! Ofcourse at first i was met with the usual judgement from my family but i did'nt care. They adjusted after a while and now they love her! They even did the same thing when i fell with Colby. I did'nt give a hoot. I am a grown woman now and will make the decisions about when i want to have babies!
WOW! I can't believe i just blurted all that out. I really don't tell people too much about my mistakes. I suppose you just need to get it off your chest sometimes.
Now that i have typed all that Colby is awake!

Wow Sara. Thank you for sharing. (in my head this sounds sarcastic, but its not.) My sister was 21 (going on 22) when she had her son in October '06. We weren't even trying, or thinking about trying. Andrew wasn't keen on them at all, but had agreed to an agreement that I wanted a family by the time I was 27 (he'd be 31 by then). Well, in December I got my BFP (which meant he was conceived in Nov), and he had to get used to the idea! So a month after my sister had her baby, I conceived mine. I'm now 24 and in Dec, Andrew'll be 28. (Gotta love hand-me-downs!) Andrew says don't drink west coast coolers coz you get pregnant. Before Lea fell pregnant, that was her drink of choice... and co-incidently mine!
Just thought I'd share too
-
HI
Sara, sometimes it is just good to share. It shows that you feel comfortable enough that no one here is going to be judgmental, and that is really good!!
Rhiannon, I actually put the hard word on my hubby last january when is niece was born, I said we have to decide what we are doing, I want kids. So we got married and Xavier is a honeymoon baby.
It sounds like jensen is right on track. He's probably going to love hanging it all out soon. Especially as it starts warming up.
Now I didn't have baby brain very much during pg, I didn't really even have any symptoms (I could even manage to sleep through the night without peeing for the majority) Yeah I can hear you all swearing as you read this, but it's ok, I'm getting my just deserts now.
2 weeks post birth started getting a metalic taste in my mouth, have had wild cravings, need to pee heaps and low and behold I tried to put the milk in the cupboard on several occasions in the last week. What can I say I'm a late bloomer.
-
Sara, I am 21 now! Sarah was born a month after my 20th birthday. However, my situation as a little bit different to yours. b4 we got married DH n I never really used any protection and are VERY lucky th@ i didn't fall pg till 3 months after our wedding. I have never been much of a party girl and have had 35yo friends tell me that my head is more screwed on than theirs was @ 30 and I'm much more mature. I guess DH and I were ready much earlier than most. When we got marries ppl were placing bets as 2 how long it would last, and the longest bet was a year! We have been married 4 2.5 years! Thanks 4 feeling comfortable enuf with us 2 reveal ur past! BTW, Emma is a using the mini pill and condoms surprise.
Emma is currently in hospital for dehydration and malnutrition. She lost all of what we battled so hard to put on her. When we got 2 the hossy on wednesday she had lost 400g! today she is weighing in around birthweight tho. She is on a drip 4 fluids and a nasalgastric tube 4 milk. she should b a kilo heavier than she is. Turn out she cant use my bbs effectively. I know i can bf but she cant. we will c the lc soon and i am on don peridon 2 get my milk back up as my bbs havent been getting enuf stimulation from her. She had an ECG yesterday 2 rule out heart disease as a cause 4 her poor energy levels.
Sehra, we cut the tops off the shields n gradually made them smaller n smaller till there was nothing really left. that should work 4 u if she is gaining with them. Emma started losing weight while we still had them.
-
Oh no Alison. I really hope Emma makes a full recovery soon. Poor bubba.
Just poppin in quickly while i am at mums. Sorry i did'nt get back to do personals yesterday. Was really busy.
Colby had a brilliant nights sleep lastnight. She slept from 8.30pm till 7.30am!!! I woke up feeling very refreshed!
Well better go. We are off to the hospital for our 6 week check-up today.
Hope you are all well.
-
HI,
Allison, Oh no I hope Emma starts improving for you. She'll be back and guzzling away in no time I'm sure!!
Sara what a fantastic sleep from colby, that's amazing. I'll cross my fingers and hope that Xavier follows suite. I've just given him the talking to, and he's not to be outdone by a girl
-
Doc has been in n recommended Emma goes on the bottle as the bf problem is emma's suck level is not strong enuf.
-
Oh Ali... how do you feel about putting her on a bottle? Are you able to express so she still gets breast milk?
-
Ali - Well at least it is nothing serious then. Emma health is the most important thing.
Well we just got home from the hossy for our 6 week check-up. So their definetely won't be any more babies until at least 5 years here. I got the mirena inserted today.
Colby is all good. She has put on 90g since monday! So she is up too 5.690kgs!
I also found out that i lost 1.5L blood at deliery and not 1L. They also could'nt give me a reason why my placenta got stuck. Just that it happens. And the reason i heamorraged(sp??) to much was because the cord snapped and my cervix was still 5cm dilated which was not letting my uterus contract back down.
Anyways, better go home now.
BBL for personals.

Hi All,
Ali - so sorry to hear about Emma, hope she is doing much better now. BF or bottle, i dont think it matters as long as bubsy is healthy and happy. As Sconeonamission suggested maybe if you expressed too, that will also mean that Emma gets all the nutrients from bb too. Goodluck hun, hope Emma is better.
Sconeonamission- LOL re: the photo shoots and Jensen's pooiness! They just don't behave how you want them to sometimes, do they?
Sara - Colby slept from 8.30pm - 7.30am? 11 hours without bf? My breasts would leak, pop, explode and do all sorts of things? Don't you feel real sore? I wake Ela after 4 afters (if she hasn't woken) b/c my bb are about to explode. I must admit, i am very small breasted A-B cup may that has something to do with it?? Geez, you are very lucky with a good sleeper like Colby. How many naps would she take during the day? Ela is sleeping less during the day.
Re: contraception. I had my 6 week check and pap smear at the same time the other day. Dr. put me onto the minipill (which i am still to get!). DH and I haven't dtd for a loooooong time probably 4 months now. My libido is out the door. I am grateful that DH is very very understanding (unlike some men, i've heard). To me, dtd is a waste of time (at the moment) i'd rather sleep or lie on couch or eat icecream.
Ela has woken. Catch you guys soon.
Take care all
-
Hi,
Oh Alison, I hope everything works out for you. As sara said it's great that it's something that can be fixed and not a big problem with digestion or anything. Maybe you can express and bottle feed.
Sara, wow you had quite an ordeal. I'm amazed at how well your doing 1.5 lts of blood. Did you have to have a transfusion??
Sehra, Have you considered just doing some reliefe expressing just to release the exploding feeling. I would be worried that by waking a bubs when they are content to sleep you may be preventing ela from falling into her own routine?? She may be gradually wanting to increase her sleep.
Well we had a big afternoon, and were out and about for hours. I paid for it at 8 when he was so very tired. but finally quitened him down, got him to bed, and now I can only dream of him sleeping right through to 7.30. We went to a shoping centre this afternoon, and he was so content to sit and watch all the people walk by, it was very cute, he was such a little sticky beak. But his vision is obviously getting clear now.
-
Evening ladies,
Back for personals!
Bec - LOL! Well i hope that talking to helps Xavier sleep through for you! I am hoping we have another night like it tonight. Our routine is def set though. We start getting ready for bed around 7.30-8pm by changing out of our day clothes. Then we go into our bedroom which is dimly lit. I give her a feed and she crashes at pretty much 8.30pm on the dot. She was very grizzly and spewy earlier on so i put her in the bath with Briley and had her in there "swimming" for about 10mins and that totally relaxed her. Then came the normal routine stuff. I might try adding the bath to her normal night routine aswell. We normally just have a bath in the morning but i don't mind giving her 2 a day. Briley has always had 2 baths a day.
Yep i had to have a transfusion. It was a pretty terrible experience. They wanted me to have 4 units of blood cause my heamaglobin(sp??) levels were down to 67. My veins were so deflated from the blood loss they could'nt handle the blood being pumped back through them. I only managed to get 2 and a bit units back in.
Apprently i am at high risk of having the placenta get stuck again next time. I really hope not. Not something i want to go through again in a hurry!
Sehra - Yep Colby slept from 8.30pm to 7.30am! 11hrs!! And nope i don't have any problems with boobs when Colby sleeps that long. I count myself lucky. Mind you i did have the same problem as you when i had Briley. They are quite full but not that bad that its uncomfortable or painful. I have an 18DD bra size so like you said, it could be the size of our boobs that determines how much we can hold comfortably.
Colby's day sleeps last about 2 hours. One at about 11am in the morning and then another one at about 3ish i think. I can't really remember the afternoon sleeps. Its pretty good cause the morning sleep is now in sinc with Brileys morning nap. The afternoons i just look for signs that she is tired i think. I can't remember!
Alison - I'm so glad its nothing serious. I only BF Briley for 1 month as she just would'nt latch. I always used to blame myself saying that it was my large breasts and nipples that was the problem. But looking back now i think that was only part of the problem and Briley was the other part. I think she was a lazy feeder. Mind you she never had the issues you are having with Emma. With the weight loss i mean. After a month i decided that formula was the best way to go. She took to it fine. Grew like a champ and is fit as a fiddle today. So long as she was happy, healthy and content, that was all the mattered to me. I'm sure you you will make the right decision for both of you.
Kirst - You go girl!!!! I have to admit Brent and I have DTD quite a few times since having Colby. The first time was about 5 weeks after i had her. Everything was fine! Obviously you have that little bit of worry that it might hurt but it was all good! Hope all turns out to be good for you too! Enjoy yourself hun!;)
Rhiannon - The pixie photos sound great hun. I would have like to have gotten the Twinkle Toes done too but they are so pricey! I just brought a $700 photo pack of the 2 girls. They were just set up outside Big W and we got both the girls done. I got over 40 photos though. And they turned out pretty good. Jensen sounds like he is growing prefectly on track! Colby is just a little piggy i think!
Sorry if i missed anyone. Hi to you all if i did. Hope you are all well.
Well i guess there is'nt too much else to report. I am having my first night out on the town tomorrow night. First and probably last in a long LONG time! We are going into the Cowboys Club to watch the Cowboys play the Manly Sea Eagles. Then we are going out with Brent's sister who is up from NSW at the moment. I am quite looking forward to getting all done up. My sister is going straighten my hair for me which will be nice. Does anyone else follow the football in here?? Or am i the only silly one! Nah i enjoy it!
Mum and my sister are looking after the girls for me. Along with 5 other ppl that live at mums. So they will be well looked after! Brent and i will be staying at mums for the night too.
Well its getting late and i am pretty tired. Better hit the hay!
Nighty night girls.

Hi ya All,
Last night Ela had her longest sleeps ever. She slept at 10pm, which is pretty late for her as she is asleep by 8.30-9pm but then again she slept alot yesterday during the day. I had to wake her at 4am (after 6 hours) as my breasts were killing, we did the regular stuff and she was asleep again by 5am and we both slept til 9am, which again i woke her up. I feel so good today, longest unbroken sleep i had for ages.
Bec - i guess your right about breaking Ela's sleep routine, i never thought of that. I'll try not to wake her from now on. Expressing is so damn inconvenient in the middle of the night but if it gets too painful, i guess i'll have to take out the old hand pump.
For those that store expressed breast milk, have you bought those plastic bags esp. designed for storing breast milk or do you store it some other way? If i was to store it i would freeze it i guess.
Sara- Geez darl, that sure does traumatic re: the placenta, the blood loss and the transfusion. Good to see that you are all fit and healthy again!
I really think that a night bath really relaxes them. Ela always has one. I heat her room first and then we bathe her in her room (we have a change table and bath in one thingy), she kicks around for 5-10 mins, shampoo, dry and dress her, feed her and shes asleep. Last night, she smiled at me for the first time in the bath (she normally doesn't like having a bath, but shes getting used to it as the days go on).
I took Ela and her 2 Cabbage Patch Babies to have a Pixie Foto taken yesterday. We had to wait a little and Ela got all grumpy. We could only get one decent photo (due to her grumpiness) but the photo came out real well with her and her dolls. She looks like a live CPK with her huge cheeks.
That's all from me today. Take care all.

Hi!!
Well, well guess what? Jensen slept for such a long time last night!! I fed him at 7, before we left for a friends place and he slept til midnight! Wow, such a big sleep at night! Then he slept from 1-4:30! Again another big sleep. Might not sound like much to those who's bubbys sleep long times, but it felt good. Around 3 I woke with start that he hadn't woken yet and got up to check if he was still breathing.
Jensen hates his bath... with a passion. He was really good at the shopping centre today... Although, regardless of where we are, he seems to know when I need to eat. lol So I need to hold him so he doesn't scream. He's alright then.
I did the whole "for my self" time yesterday. I dropped Jensen off, asleep, with Andrew's dad and went to the accupuncturist. Normally it takes 45mins, with 15 mins there and back... It took an hour and half, including the there and back. Apparently, Jensen woke 5 mins after I left. I had fed him before I dropped him off and wasn't expecting him to be hungry when i was gone. Lying on the table, I felt the milk come in - and felt guilty that I left him. I enjoyed my time and felt fantastic. I was glad I did it, but he was hungry that whole time. I'm a terrible mother. I hate to hear him cry or let him cry.... and I left him to cry for 1.5hrs!
There's not much else from me atm, so I'll check back later.
-
Hi all,
Sara you have done well to recover from colby's birth. You must be tough. Great to hear everything is going well for you. I have to aim to get xavier to have some structured day sleeps. at the moment he will only sleep after eating, and in my arms and insists on eating at 7.30ish (2nd breakfast) 10 (morning tea) 12 (lunch) 3 (afternoon tea) 6 (tea) 7/7.30 (desert) then asleep till anywhere from 2.30-4.30 (first breakfast). FYI, the talking to didn't work
Sehra, That was a good sleep you had, I understand waking her becasue it can get very painful. I express about 1 - 1.5 hours after xavier goes to bed and I have no trouble sleeping through. i also ditched ewearing any tops / bras to bed at all I found it too un-comfy. a sports bra is a little better than a maternity bra, but I prefer nothing. If I wak up in the middle of the night and am worried i will get too heavy before the next feed, I put a towel down to sleep on. When storing the milk because I'm using the avent isis pump, all of the accessories are interchangable and it comes with re-useable/disposable cups that you can freeze as well. and you can use them for food when bubs gets bigger.
Rhiannon, that's a great sleep, just the start of things to come I think. I'm sure he would have survived the hour and a half. He probably was just acting hungry because its a sure way to get mum, yet it didn't work for him this time. I'm sure I would find it hard the first time I leave Xavier with someone. I have trouble when others hold him and they are trying in vein to help him when he sooks, and I'm sitting there and I know what he wants but it's so hard to say to you mil give me back my son
-
Neuri, yeah I've got 1.5 boxes of newborns left & bub just weighed in at 4.5kg, so will have to swap the last box for crawler. :)
Ummm, internet time lately is me time, netball (started 3wks ago) is me time, not sure what else. Don't feel guilty, u need it.
I have the Angelcare Sound & Movement digital monitor so im not really worried about checking on her all the time as it monitors her breathing & I can hear if she cries.
No not really, we were going to have a few drinks last night at home but I want to make sure bub is sleeping thru more b4 i do.
Good idea Kirst, i'd luv to buy some new clothes but wanna loose some more weight first. ;)
Wow Sehra, sounds like u have 1 smart boy there, congrats. Maybe a growth spurt? For wind, did the Infants Friend work? Worked great with Holly & other mums in mums group swore by 'em.
Yeah I still wrap bub, I wrapped Holly till she moved/rolled too much in her cot & ended up on her tum & back the front in the top RHS corner of cot so got scared & stopped wrapping her immediately & moved to sleeping bags (target) instead. I forget when everything happened with Holly, I keep having to refer back to my www &/or milestones photo album.
DH went thru that once, saying he didnt like the thought of having to change a 'girls' nappy, but said same thing. Holly has a shower with dad at night sometimes, she has a ball, he splashes her & plays with her toys & she gets in a laughing fit, I laugh just as hard sometimes, it is sooo funny to watch, so DH got over it, she's still young.
Sehra, yeah ur BB's get quite sore (im 12D) & hard & leak when bub is building up to long sleeps but they dont take long to settle down. I never woke Holly or Lanah, just kept checking on them & CHN said something like as long as they still get sooo many feeds per day, eg: will prob feed more like 3hrly instead of 4hrly & will prob cluster feed just b4 bed (several feeds within short time).
That pic sounds gorgeous.
Good one Ali on the nipple shields, I've tried a couple of times on/off, at the end she gets fussy & I end up using the shield, i should stop using them more often, stopped completely around 7wks with Holly. Glad to hear Emma doesnt have any underlying health condition, hope ur ok with the bottle decision, r u going to express or just go with formula? I dunno if i could persist with expressing, i know some have. As long as mum & bub r healthy though is all that matters.
Hehe Sara, yeah my showers are usually with Holly too, she plays with her toys in the shower or lays down & tries to splash around &/or drink the water.
Good luck with Uni preps. A Mirena, never heard of it. I was planning on just going back on the pill, haven't had to remember to take it now since after our honeymoon in 2003. The vasectomy waits til later, til we decide if we want more kids.
Xlnt sleep Sara. Yikes on the BL, I only lost half a litre with Lanah, no idea with Holly.
Ali, Holly used to vomit clear stuff too & I told paed at her 6wk (hip) checkup & he said it was fine. She stopped bit later. It didnt bother Holly, wasnt reflux as she wasnt screaming heaps & not putting on weight so was just possetting. Wouldn't hurt to mention to ur CHN though.
Wow never thought of that on the nipple shield front.
Hehe Bec, can imagine on the nappy. Hehe on being a late bloomer too, i had those symptoms during pg & was happy to loose them after.
Rhiannon, u most certainly can get preggas while BF, many have. Remember when u get ur first AF, u've already had a cycle so already past the 1st chance of falling preggas. My AF came back at 8wks with Holly, most likely coz she started sleeping thru b4 4wks old, as if theres such a long break between BF then ur body starts to think its time again, thats what I got told anyhow. AF hasnt come back yet this time but still early days. Nice one with the pics, hehehe.
2nd CHN checkup:
birth: 3.544kg, 50cm, 35cm
10day: 3.350kg, 50cm, 35cm
5wk2d: 4.500kg, 51cm, 37cm
Lanah started sleeping thru at 3wk3d (11:45pm-6:40am). The last 2 nights (5wk3&4d) were: 10:30pm-8am & 10:30pm-7:15am so getting better, of course sometimes she wakes around 4am for a feed. She's just like Holly was, i'm sooo lucky & here i was thinking id end up with Lanah being a bad sleeper (touch wood). She barely even cries when going to bed wither, a couple of mins at most. I sooo hope I'm not jinxing myself here though. I hope all bubs are starting to sleep through for u all. I think smiles are due any day, as she's given me a very slight smile a couple of times over the last few days. We got first smile on camera about 2wks ago but i reckon it would've had to have been a wind smile. They say 6wks is the usual smile milestone. Holly was the last to smile in mums group. She likes to look at & touch the toy caterpillar on her change table now, I'll have to get a pic of it like I did with Holly.

Morning girls,
How are you all??? Well i hope.
Just giving Briley a bath.
