Good evening all,
Yesterday William rolled over from tummy to back and even repeated it that night for dad (just to prove that I wasn't making it up)
Today we skipped a night feed - so we will see if the trend continues tonight.
Now that his just about three months I cannot believe how much his started to do, giggles and smiles almost on que, holding items and now rolling over.
Sonia: William was diagnosed with reflux at 3 weeks, but we knew at 2 weeks - as he had the same syptoms as my niece who had reflux. He would just cry as in pain after every feed and be very hard to settle, but the most obvious sign was his arching back and stiffing of his little body and comfort sucking on the breast stop/start/stop/strart until it started to hurt me.

Yes shell they r very similar. cant tell the diff in fotos now from when Sarah was little. The only differences r in feeding. Em has reflux, Sarah didn't, Sarah was BF till 3 months, Em couldn't, We shall c what happens with solids! C y I LOVE that pram? u can't really c all of it but it is really big and gives the girls room to spread out, and of course it has a reversible handle.
Oh well, better check the bushfire probability in the area, it's 30 degrees today, HOT!

Hiya everyone,
Hope you all had a nice weekend! I had a friend visiting from interstate all weekend, so it gave my arms a break, as she was more than happy to provide cuddles to Milla all day :) I got heaps done, and it was nice to have some company.
News from Monster Milla is that we went to sleep school during the week as her constant 'refusal' to sleep in her own bed, and only seem to want to sleep on me, was driving me insane! So we had a day-stay thing, and it was BRILLIANT! The nurse who ran it identified the problem straight away - Milla was completely able to self-settle, but would wake up after five or ten minutes, but this was because she had colic / bad wind, and lying on her back made it feel worse. Being upright, or lying tummy-down on top of me provided her with some relief, so that is why I interpreted it as her only wanting to sleep on me.... silly mum! So, after just giving her some Brauers Colic Relief drops before each feed, she is a completely new baby - so happy, barely cries, puts herself to sleep (with dummy) in her own bed as soon as I recognise her tired signs and wrap her. She has slept for between 1 - 2 hours each nap time for the past 4 days. I am soooooo impressed. I never knew that was why she wouldn't sleep.... So, the nurse said I should just look carefully at my diet. I have stopped eating sultana bran and all nuts, as that was a likely cause of her day time colic. Any other ideas? I know about broccoli, cabbage, capsicum.... I hope its not a dairy or wheat thing, as they would be harder to cut out, but I will give things a try to figure out the problem.
Not alot of others news... I am just so excited that sleeping is all getting better. She is still waking for feeds at night, but she goes straight back to sleep between 7 and 7, so that's OK. Now I can nap with her during the day if I need to. Hallelujah.
In two weeks my PIL are coming to stay for TWO MONTHS!!! Gasp. They are from Belgium, so its a big trip, and of course they are soooo excited to meet their grand-daughter. I am really happy they can come, and I will put them to good use with babysitting so we can go out for some nice dinners etc. But two months is going to be a very long time huh??? They are lovely, but our house is pretty small. I will keep you posted. In Belgium they do things so differently. Hardly anyone breastfeeds, and they all go straight for the epidural (apparently)... they must think I am a bit of a hippy for being all natural, but I think they are impressed that Milla is so healthy and gaining weight with no problems. It will just be weird for me to have to BF in front of them all the time if they are home with me all day... usually I just let it all hang out if I am here by myself!!! :)
Better go - am so tired after entertaining all weekend ...
Cheerio, and sleep well!!

Rhi, they will just ahve to get used to it. My DH's family r nothing like my fam when it comes to comfort with their bodies so I just did it and I think they were just like well it has to be done for out granddaughter to eat and got over it. It also gave my sil a bit of understanding on how to do it which she will appreciate when she gets older. they r not likely to see much anyway coz Milla will keep most of it hidden.
Em is still being fussy with her bottles and did a power chuck in the car today so had to wash her carseat. if she keeps being fussy I have to ring the dietician agin on thursday. I really dont want her back in hossy . we have tried so hard to get her to gain weight and now she's not even trying anymore. it's just not fair! DH asked if there was any chance she could be lactose intolerant so if this does continue I will ask the dietician about that. My FIL was Lactose Intolerant for 10 years after stomach surgery so there is family history of it. If we do have to ring the dietician I suppose they will do some more testing and find out what is going on. when will this nightmare end?!!?!?!?!?!?!

HI all,
Ali, your girls are cute. I hope you don't have to go back to hosi. can you get samples of the low lactose formula to try?? or maybe a soy formula??
Janda, what a clever little boy you have.
Rhi, Brilliant on having day time sleep now. that's fantastic. I hope you enjoy you pil, 2 months, I couldn't do it, but then mine live 5 mins away. I know what you mean about the hanging out when your home, I do too. remember you can always do a feed or 2 in another room. You can get away with doing the bed time feed in Milla's room, if you need to let loose as such.
Kim, it's hard isn't it. What you are doing is fine. if your MCHN is supportive take your mum along to the next appointment and let the nurse re-iterate in front of her what a good job your doing. it sounds like he's working out that he doesn't need to eat every time he wakes and before you know it he will self settle and go back to sleep without your help, and then one day you will be laying in bed awake half the night expecting him to wake at any minute.

Rhi - Well done with your sleep day-stay. Jensen liked to sleep on me as well, only I mentioned the intense evening colic to the health nurse. We ended up changing the milk on my weetbix in the morning to soy milk. No problem now! I can still have milk and milk products, just seems as tho breakfast was the only thing I had to change.:dunno: I find the infants friend helps when he's gulping down air, crying coz he can. He seems to like the taste!
Ali - I hope that Emma's ok.
Janda - Well done with the rolling!! I can't wait for that!
Kim - pff I feed anywhere! We were at dinner and just fed him at the table. What was I going to do? Let him cry while I eat? Thats not fair! lol They're just boobs.
I'm really bad, and don't persist with the tummy time. I will today. It just pains me to hear him cry coz he's on his tummy. My MIL suggests he may have a sore back and it hurts when he's on his tummy. The upside is, instead of crying immediately on his tummy, he can go a few minutes if I annoy him with some noisy toys. He was on his back the other day, under a coffee table and playing with a string of toys (its a pram toy, just strung up under the table for him) and if the leg of the table wasn't in the way, he would have rolled from back to tummy! Frightened me and mil! However, he hasnt' done it since and now he's almost grasped his feet!
Well, I didn't get to be a birth partner for my cousin :( But that doesn't matter! Baby Phoenix was born on Friday, 6lb 11 I think (3040g). He was induced at 37wks. How tiny is a 6lb baby! Jensen and Phoenix had the same head circ, but lol I don't remember Jensen's head being that small! Phoenix even makes cute newborn noises, that Jensen didnt make. I cant believe that this coming Sunday, Jensen will be 3mths old!
A little while back, I mentioned Andrew's nan. Well, she finally had a stroke that put her into hospital and needed constant care. We found her a nursing home about 3wks ago. Then, she'd been there a wk and the staff noticed her gangrene in her foot was coming back (she'd had some gangrene before, and they shaved it away). So she's back in hospital. andrew's uncle came down from Townsville to help with the decision of amputation to try and prolong her life, or keep her dosed up on morphine (the necrotic material is very painful) - which could cause her to slip into a coma. They took the amputation option. Only, with how frail she is, there's a chance, around 10d post op, that she can go into shock and pass away anyway. 10d post op is Jensens 3mth birthday. Time will tell :(
Cheer up Rhianon! Jensen just had a successful 5min tummy time and then spewed on my foot. My dad's on his way over to work on my computer.... Talk again soon..
Rhianon and Jensen
