do you top up the milk that you've expressed or do u put them in separate bottles?

Misty, The layers are just bcoz the first lot was frozen when the second lot was added, absolutely nothing to worry about. If u leave Ella @ home with someone it is better to give her ebm than formula. u do eventually get used to feeding in public, big jackets make it easier to hide. If any1 says anything, ignore them! EBM stays good in the freezer 4 3 months and in the fridge, 2 days. While Em was only having EBM, I took my pump everywhere with a little esky n an ice brick n bottles. If u feel really full while u r out n don't need / want to bf it works fine if u can get to the parents room. When I 1st started feeding Sarah it took a while 4 me 2 work out the most discreet way of doing it so I do understand how u feel, but BF is becoming more accepted in social circles and doing it in public will make it even more acceptable for future generations. When my mum BFed me it was quite unacceptable to bf in public but she did it anyway, and when my anti public bf dad complained she said did he really want me to catch nasty bugs from the toilets? no. I hope u get my point! Ella doesnt care what every1 thinks, she just wants food. Frozen milk is the next best thing to fresh milk, formula comes last.
Wow that was longer than I expected!
Rhi, Thanks for reminding me, I have to book in for a mothers group for Em. There r no other bubs her age at Sarah's playgroup so really should meet some other mums with August bubs in SA.
Swimming tomorrow! I need some sleep!
Hi all!
A quick one and hopefully I'll be able to do personals later...
Laura had her vaccinations yesterday, along with what seemed like the entire population of Mitcham. I felt like the world's most horrible mother when she screamed and howled and wailed, but the 15 mins waiting time was completely taken up by bfing as though her life depended on it. Then she was grizzly and grumpy and refused to sleep anywhere except on me, and wanted to sleep rather a lot, which meant I had to cancel a visit out to her godmother. :( I was looking forward to that too.
And she slept for 10 hours last night and is snoozing again! Good grief.
Hope all is going well, see you again later,
Kirsten
YAY!! sorry i'm so relieved just had to come on to make a post. After a week of dodgy breast feeding and bottle refusal, Willa has FINALLY TAKEN A BOTTLE.
I'm such a silly mummy but after she did it I was thanking God and the universe and everyone in it haha. I'm too tired to do happy dance so will settle for a happy post.
No idea what clicked with her but i guess the hunger and fatigue finally won out and after chewing on the teat and refusing it for 10 mins, she had a suck and that was it. I couldn't have pried it out of her mouth after that. Previously I rang up MIL and asked what on earth she did to the bottle to make Willa take it and she said she warmed it up more than what was recommended. I did the same. Maybe that's the trick. Hopefully, we can make it happen again.
Also, the crankiness from the immunisations yesterday would have helped I think. KirstenF, Laura was the same as Willa. It was actually a little scary. I put her to bed at 7pm as per usual and she woke way too early at 10.40pm with a very strange cry and she was grunting and squirming and looked like she felt awful. No temp tho, until about 5am when she had a low fever, so gave her panadol and she slept until her usual wake up at 7am. No 10 hr sleeps for us, no matter what the situation, it seems. Just as well tho cos I'm trying to keep up my bb supply overnight.
so yep, good news on my end. am glad all our bubs are doing a-ok. :)
sonia
I take it your pump is your best friend at the moment Sonia!! lol!
I swam with Sarah this week in the advanced waterbabies class, and she is so different in the older class! Things that would have made her cry in the beginners class were making her all excited today!
I think Em is going thru another spurt! she is taking close to 150 ml 2 hourly! I can't hold her out at all coz she is screaming thru the dummy.
Both girls will have shots on friday. I won't b doing that alone! Sarah is going first, then DH will take her out of the room, so Emma shots don't traumatise her. Em is going next, and DH will give her a bottle to settle her, Then it will b time for my checkup. I had the implanon put in on the 4th and the bruise is halfway healed but every1 that has seen it was horrified by the size of it.
It is way too hot this weekend! 33 today and 35 tomorrow! Our house is double brick so it is really nice inside at the moment and should b nice n warm by the colder days forecast this week. keeping an eye out for snakes at the moment tho! that would have to be the biggest problem with living on a farm. we have nothing to do with the farm but we rent the old farmhouse. there is a donkey on the other side of our driveway.
Sarah has a balloon tied to her skirt from a first birthday party today and it has been entertaining her for about 3 hours now. small things...
Anyhow that s enough of my boring rambling....
Morning girls,
WOW! You have been chatter boxes have'nt you!
Misty - Good to hear from you hun. Glad to hear that thing are going well for you and Ella. Colby only normally feed for 20-25 mins, both boobs. I make her have both boob cause otherwise i will be full in one boob and empty in the other which will throw us off later. I always give her one side then pull her off, burp her and give her the other side. She always wants both sides though. The needles are always hard the first time round. You sound like you did well though!!
Bec - Its good to hear that i'm not the only one with a baby stuck to my boob from 5pm - 8pm!!! Yesterday i layed down in the lounge and watched a movie. I left Colby on my boob the whole movie. Then as soon as i moved and tried to pull her off she woke up straight away!!! But after that she layed in her rocker for ages and just looked around. She even let me eat my dinner in peace (well kinda!!). But we def have a set routine of bath, feed and bed at 8pm everynight! Its good to know that if i want to go out at night i just have to wait around till then, settle her and i can go out without worrying that she will wake up. She is sleeping from 8pm to 7.30am most nights. The last few mornings she has woken for an out-of-the-blue feed though. She woke at 5.30am on friday morning, 2.30am!! yesterday morning and 5.55am thismorning! Not sure what's the go there! She always goes back to sleep though!
Alison - You think you have it bad with the overbearing MIL....I LIVE with mine!!! And a FIL!!! I go through what your going through everyday! Its hard is'nt it. She always tries to change the way i have thing with my furniture and things like that. The worst thing is when she won't listen to me about what too do with my kids. It almost frustrates me to the point of tears sometimes. In saying all that! She does help me out a lot. I am grateful for the help she does give me. Its just hard living with you IL's. I have'nt lived with my mum since i was 17!! So i see your on a farm too??? We have 5 acres. No probs with snakes yet though. Plus we have 3 dogs, 3 ducks and 2 geese. Plus an entourage of other farm animals! So i'm sure they probably keep them away. Glad to hear the girls are well.
Rhi - Good to hear from you too hun! Colby has her moments when she gets grumpy from overstimulation. I can always tell when she has had enough but. I restrict our outings to at least 1 or 2 times a week. Unless Brent is with me. Cause he can lean over and talk to Colby in the car if she is crying or just help me out in general. When i do go into town i always meet my mum and my sister so they help me with the girls which is good. Glad to hear that Milla is doing well. Colby makes those grunting noises too sometimes. And the exploding poo's! They normally come together though the grunting and exploding. Somtimes i don't even know she has done a poo until she starts whinging about it. Milla seems to be growing very nicely! Are you b/f??? We joined our first mother group last thursday. It was pretty good. The ladies were quite nice. I might be going to another one too. See how i go. It was quite stressful the first one! Briley was really sooky and the other kids were older than her and were all of playing on the playgroud. I'd like too find some kids her age so she can play with them. That was the point in going.
Sonia - Well it seems that i don't have to add any input on the bottle situation now!! Great to hear that Willa finally took the bottle for you! I'm sure it takes a lot of weight off your shoulders hey. I hope that Willa is feeling ok today.
Kim - No performances here for daddy!! At least you go to get some things done while Hayden was sleeping hey. I hope you dog is ok. What type are they??? Congrats to your cousin on her new baby girl. Hope you managed to get some sleep yourself! I will pop in and have a squizzy at the pic of Hayden now!
Kirsten - Hi hun! Everything that your describing sounds normal after imm's. Briley was exactly the same. Colby was much different though. Good to hear you got a 10 hour sleep!! Hope to hear from you again soon!
Well...things are pretty much the same here. Colby is getting further and further away from being my newborn baby! Time is going too bloody quick!! She is almost 3 months already. I can't believe how time does fly when you have 2 kids to tend to! She is lifting her head up and sitting up heaps now. Babbling away everyday. Thismorning she woke up at 5.55am for a feed and then when she was finished she just layed in her bed for ages talking to the little pictures on the side of her bassinette material.
As i said to Bec, she has been waking up at unusal times during the early morning for a feed. Not sure why. I can't complain though. I am still getting plenty of sleep. I am happy to get up and give her 1 feed a night if she wants it.
Afternoons are still quite a struggle though. Colby just wants to be latched to my boob constantly. It makes it really hard cause i have to get dinner ready, tend to Briley (who is also quite grumpy come that time) and try and do some work on my course. I've worked out to just leave the study to when both girls are down for their day sleep.
Well i don't think there is much else to report. Breastfeeding is still going well. I am all good.
Have a great day ladies!
Well girls, this has been a big day!
When I went in to get Sarah up this morning her nappy was OFF!!!!! she had done a big poo in it and decided to remove it! so of course we had to change her sheets, grrrr. The time has come for potty training!! Tonight at my parents' house, SHE DID A POO ON THE POTTY!!!!!!
We have a video monitor so that will b on in her room tonite, watching 4 nappy removal!
Through all this, Em has been an absolute angel! Even with the boiling weather!
HI all,
Sonia, Xave does that I'm still hungry dance all the time, and I end up using a dummy. It seems he just wants something to suck on.
Alison, we have little routine here, he just decides each night at about 8pm that it is now night time and it's time for bed. I think the afternoon cluster feeds actually promote his long sleep. I am having slightly better luck getting him to have more naps, by wearing him out with lots of playing until I get tired signs, but because he is demand fed he changes his mind quite regularly as to when day time feeds will be. I'm sure this will all calm down in the next few weeks as we hit 12 weeks old this week, so I'm expecting another change in behavior.
Kristen, you will have your little girl back soon. Sometimes we wish we could give Xave a few more needles to get that much sleep again, lol i'm a naughty mummy.
Sonia, some babies like it hot. My niece prefers her bottles quite warm. Yay for you, Just had to find what tickled her fancy.
Misty, Once I have put milk in the freezer I do not add to it. the general rule is only to mix ebm of the same temp so you can leave it in the fridge and express again the same day, refrigerate that and then you can mix them together. I use the avent isis, and have heaps of the disposable cups. they hold 180ml and are great for the freezer. Plus all the avent stuff is interchangeable so i can continue to use it when we move to solids. I know what you mean about why give the frozen milk when they can have fresh, and the other night Xavier told me that too. It was really hot and he flat out refused it. I guess my temp was perfect for such a hot night. Make sure if you do freeze the milk let it defrost in the fridge, mine seems to take about 36hours to defrost properly. Plus don't warm the milk in the microwave as it can kill the nutrients, stink, and may even change the taste and bubs won't like it. Just use a heatproof jug and boiling water. (I treated myself to a bottle warmer because I plan to do it a fair bit)
Sara, those 2 little muchkins do like to carry on the same, although Xavier likes to be sitting upright, he can't actually do it himself. Is colby doing it herself? Doesn't show any signs of rolling either. Our afternoons have been getting a little better, but we'll see what happens this arvo, 'cause weekends are always different. I'm a little jealous though, I don't get sleep right through till 7.30am!! we get 8pm til usually 5am, and today I got till 6am. Xavier doesn't get a bath every night, but we may have to start giving him one soon, it's so hot here. It was 35 degrees yesterday. Today is cooler but it's still quite warm, and our house is not cooling down. I even had to put a fan on in his room last night to cool it down so he could sleep.
Well as for me I had a pretty good weekend. I ditched my 2 boys and went and got my hair cut etc. 3 hours later it was done. But I did warn them when I made the appointment it would take a while. We then had my nieces birthday party yesterday, I made a trifle for the first time ever and everyone loved it. Plus the party was at my mums house which is air conditioned and there was a cot so Xavier had a nice little sleep and everything. Then we had to come back home to the hot house.
wishing you all a good week. I'm on the countdown to 12 weeks old this friday. It's exciting but just as Sara said they are growing so fast. i was feeding Xavier last night and he looked so big. I was wondering where my baby was going.
Wow, Ive got quite a few pages to catch up on by looks of it :)
I updated my www with photo links & milestones (weights). Off the nipple shield at 7wks with Lanah too, yay, same as with Holly.
Lanah at 8w6d: DW=5.29kg, L=58cm, HC=38cm.
Holly at 18w3d: was 5.25kg, hehe.
Hi girls!
Bec - Colby can sit if you prop her up against something, like the lounge. We had her sitting up yesterday and she sat there for a good half hour!! No rolling here either. I don't expect that for a while yet though. Briley did'nt roll until she was like 4 months i think. I'll have to check her baby book. Our afternoons are improving too. So long as you keep her occupied she is fine. But oppcupied normally means on the boob or being held!!
Alison - YAY @ Sarah using the potty! We are really trying with Briley. I'm not pushing it too far but if she does a poo in the nappy i say "Poo's go in the potty". Can't rush it though!
Shell - Holly is growing beautifully then! How much did Lanah weigh at birth??? She must have been a littlin. Good to hear you managed to ditch the nipple shield! How is Holly going without it???
Kim - Awww...they grow up too quick hey!
Not much to report here. Just a babblling, dribbling, stick-beak of a baby!! Colby is looking around everywhere! She even managed to pull her toy bar down onto her face in the rocker!! She loves that she can grab things now!
Hope you are all well!
bec, Sarah was about 5 months when she rolled. roll him from the hips n he will learn which muscles 2 use.
misty, i have info on bm storage somewhere, will find it 4 u.
inspection on friday, gtg clean!!!!
Whew! It's been a warn day in Sydney too, top of 30.
I can't believe one of our bubs are coming up to the 12 week mark. Doesn't it just seem like yesterday that we were posting about colicky newborns! *sniff* I'm such a sentimental sap :) No rolling here either but we got babbling, drooling and chewing on fist. Willa's not really consciously grabbing anything, but she seems to really enjoy pulling her top up all the time. I keep telling her it's entirely innapropriate to act a American high school Spring Break, 'Girl Gone Wild'. DH thought that was funny.
When does rolling start to happen? Oh and do you guys use any sort of safetly restraint on your change tables? Is that something u can buy separate? I'm guilty of wandering off leaving Willa on her change table but the cushion has raised sides and as there's no rolling yet... In fact, I hate to say it but Willa is actually rather bad at tummy time! Don't know what baby DH is talking about but he insists she makes like she wants to crawl. She just sort of lies there grunting and lifts her head a bit but mostly we turn her over because her face gets squished. But she sits up great and I can pretty much burp her on my knee and her back is ramrod straight, head held firm so I'm not worried. She must just not like tummy time. I took some cute photos today of her sitting on the lounge with a book in her lap.
Feeding has been mixed. I'm thrilled she'll take a bottle when she needs to, but still fussing at the boob and short feeds. Oh well, so long as her weight is ok, I can cope. On average, I think we're getting 2 sleeps in the arvo ranging from 30 minutes to 3 hours. Like most babies she's very grizzly by late arvo if she hasn't had a decent sleep earlier. Like today, even a bath didn't help. DH ended up putting her down. the 7pm bedtime routine still going strong. She gets up around 7am every morning, no matter what and wakes about twice in the night. I'm not getting any long sleeps at all but none the worse for wear. I guess our bodies get used to it.
Ali - 150mls every 2 hrs is wow, growth spurt indeed! "here is a donkey on the other side of our driveway." heheh now that's something I don't hear everyday. The balloon tied to Sarah's skirt is such a cute idea. Congrats on Sarah going in a potty! I'm probably not realising what a big milestone this must be. A friend of mine texted me at 3am the other night to say that her toddler finally did a poo in a potty lol, I think she got in on camera even.
Kim - cute pic :P
Sara - I hear i abt the no more a newborn thing. I know they say 2nd time mummies are more aware of enjoying their bubs while they're little. How time flies huh? Willa was having a good old chat to herself today while watching Oprah and I was thinking, gotta enjoy each day NOW! I love that baby babbling. It's the cutest thing ever.
Becca - Willa does indeed like her formula warmer. How much did u get your bottle warmer for? I had a bit of a look online and they seem to be in the $70 plus mark which is too dear for me, but I'm having to think about DH on his own trying to juggle crying/hungry baby while warming milk and all.
DH has done the hunting AND gathering and is bringing back some Thai takeout. I could eat a horse right now (what's new...)
evening all,
sonia
Sarah using a potty means i wont b spending $120 a month on nappies!
Paint on bathroom wall hole (don't ask) is drying n should not b able to c hole by friday. yes i re-plastered 1st.
Ali - gosh $150 a month on nappies. I didn't think to add it up. Someday all seem to be doing is nappy changing. The squirty poos are the worse. You hear all this noise and u think its gonna be some nasty puddle but when the nappy comes off, its just a smear.
Yet to trade my 3 newborn boxes for some larger nappies. Sigh. I'm going to ring Coles today to see if they will swap for me. Willa is wearing 6 to 11kg nappies now which are roomy, we use BabyLove and Huggies tho i find BabyLove bigger.
Kim - I still have my flabby lower tum too! I'm surprised I'm not more upset abt it but i've been told that depending on the person, that loose skin will never go back to normal without surgery. Flab u can work off but my stretched out skin is apparently here to stay :( Did anyone else get stretchmarks??? I've got heaps and after 10 weeks they are only now just starting to fade to lighter colour.
It must be the weather because i noticed Willa had a rash on her girly bits as I was bathing her yesterday. I'll give her more air time ala Hayden.
Oh and product review time! The grobag is most excellent. Would be even more excellent if it wasn't so darn hot that Willa can only wear it for half the night. Come any daylight, i take it off her cos she gets sweaty.
Got the inspection postponed coz our notification only arrived yesterday, so she will do it on the 3rd. The pain i got 4 the bathroom is just slightly too dark!!! I'm gonna have 2 scrape sum off n get them to colour match. GRRR. I'm over renting!
nothing in the potty since sunday, but lots of tries and no accidents.
Em has finished the AR tin so we r now mixing her normal formula with food thickener, she seems 2 b ok with it. She had a HUGE poo this morning. all up her back and really gross. had 2 change her completely and will give full bath tonight. did a top n tail wash this morning. Her poo has changed from the toothpaste to now mustardy coloured liquid. eww.
Kim, I have been lucky enough to skip poo's in the bath with both kids, touch wood, and only bath after the daily poos to hopefully avoid an incident. That 1st reaction to a roll is hilarious!
Once this potty training s finished my nappy bill will b halved!!! I am really looking forward to that!!!! today we have had 4 tries so far and eventually we will succeed. still in the same nappy. Gotta get sum pullups soon.
Hi all,
Sara, DH is always proping Xavier up on the furniture, and in his high chair he sits for a min but gradually slides down. He prefers to sit on my knee with me holding his torso. He's a little TV addict and he can see the telly much better from that posi. I noticed xavier was garbing at his pram toy today and he wacks this ring style toy like it's a speed ball. I was at the shops the other day and he was hungry, so here I am trying to feed him while he sticky beaks all over the place, 'cause there were people walking around. he wanted to look at them all.
alison, thanks I'll try that. My niece only worked out how to roll about 2 months ago. she just turned 1. wasn't a developmental problem or anything, she just didn't want to.
Sonia, we had a really good start at tummy time, and we got a little slack, and now he hates it with a passion. My bottle warmer wasn't cheap it was around the $70 mark, but I say worth every penny. I got the avent one because I've got everything else avent, and figured it would be worth it because I plan on having a couple more kidlets, and the warmer should be one thing that lasts the distance. I did see a philips brand one at big w, but you should be able to get other ones as well, just make sure it fits a range of sizes. The best part about the avent one is because it wide you canheat baby food home made or store bought in it.
Huggies are definetly the tightest nappies
Kim, with sleeping i have insisted on not being super quite around him, so I guess he just thinks it's normal  with the toys, this has only just started in the last week, and he is slowly getting better. I kinda tickled his hand with a small toy and he grabed it. Now he has started hitting some plastic rings and plastic keys, but I have to hold them in the right spot for him.
Stretchmarks
It sounds like I might give you all a run for your money. I call mine tiger stripes, they are still a lovley purple colour on my flabby saggy tummy. I've been doing some walking and think that my bum is benefiting but my tummy isn't  so I'm starting to feel a lil top heavy and frumpy. But I figure that I'll just try to loose the weight and worry about the skin later. Maybe after the last baby I can get plastic surgery
My stretch mark go 2 inches above my belly button, into my pubic hair, all the way around to my hips. most of the damage was from sarah, but emma extended a few. it feels like running my hand along a corrugated fence, but softer. one day ill post a piccie.
Hello everyone,
Sorry I have not been around for the past 2 and a half weeks...things have been a bit tough!!
2 weeks ago Cameron was not feeding, not sleeping and crying all the time. I called out a lactation consultant who diagnosed oral thrush. I felt really bad because he had it very bad and I never realised. Anyway we treated him and he is now over that episode.
I ended up not coping really well, and by the end of the week was a complete emotional wreck.
Last week we went on a much needed holiday to Port Douglas and had a fantastic time. I even managed to get over my feeding in public issues, and was pleasantly suprised with what we could do with a baby! (tour wise!)
Today Cameron had his immunisations, and we are back to the continual grizzling and crying but hopefully it will ease off soon.
My GP is suspicious that Cam has reflux and she is going to speak to our paediatrician about it.
Finally, he has hit the 8kg mark and we have spent the past 2 days trying to sort out what happens in regards to car seats. We really don't want to be having him forward facing at 2 months old! it is posing a real problem. I have spoken to every organisation and maker of car seats, all passing the buck to the doctors...we are awaiting news from our paediatrician. But at the moment it is looking like having to get one in from overseas if we want to keep him rearwards facing. (he is also almost at the length limit for aussie car seats)
That's about all that has happened so far...now as long as Cam permits, I will spend the evening catching up on all the posts here :D
Wow corr, that is a bit of a dilemma! Sarah was turned around at four months, 6 kg, 69cm coz she was so long. have u tried offering food thickener as a gel? Karicare have 1 that works like that, u give them the gel then feed off the bb. it can also b added 2 formula so that is what we use. We all need to have a good cry occasionally to get some of the stress of having broken sleep out of our systems. sounds like u deserve a good massage! The grizzling post immunisations is thankfully short term. I hope u r feeling a bit better and not stressing too much.
Well we had no wees or poos on the potty today but plenty of tries. tomorrow will b better.
Evening ladies,
Neuri - Yep second time mummies to pay more attention to their bubs but.....the time goes so much quicker!!!! With first bubs it does'nt go quick enough for all the milestones but ofcourse when you want it to go slow it goes fast! I checked Briley's baby book and she first rolled when she was 4 months something. So you have a little bit more time before it starts!
Kim - I have noticed that Colby seems to be doing things a lot earlier than Briley did. I'm not sure what it is. Maybe because she can see Briley doing stuff and it makes her that more eager to be able to do it herself. Not sure! STRECHMARK?!?!? Mine are horrid! They are really thick purple lines. Go up past my belly button, down into my pubic area and down around my hips. I carried much bigger with Colby so mine got worse! Apparently they are'nt looking like fading yet either! It all comes with the territory for some of us i'm afraid!
Corr - Sorry to hear that you were having a tough time. At least things are on the mend now. I can't belive that Cameron is 8kg's already!!! What a big boy!!!
Bec - LOL @ Xav wanting to look around and feed at the same time. Colby does that too but by moving her eyes rather than her head. She loves to watch Briley move about.
Hi to everyone else!
Well Colby has been full-on today. She has slept for just over an hour all day. And now she won't even go down. I have just left her in the bassinette to settle herself tonight. I have been in and fed her twice but she just wants to lay there and comfort suck. Thank-god Brent was home to take care of Briley.
Well i am buggered girls.
Hope you are all well.
Ni night!
Hi girls,

Hey girls!
I was in here yesterday to post, but Jensen got upset - like he always does - and I wasn't able to post anything. Last Tuesday, I was told that Jensen may not be gaining enough weight. We go back to be re-checked tomorrow. I'm not worried, he seems happy enough and his eyes are bright too. Very vocal. I thought we had the whole colic thing over and done with. Apparently not. Screams for ages. Andrew doesnt like being anywhere near him at that time - probably coz he can't settle him. Pff like I can. Last night, not even a bath settled him. Luckily for the last few evenings we've been over at Andrews parents and his mother is more than eager to take him when he's screaming or crying. Makes me feel bad tho. That I can't control him crying and it makes me look like I can't handle him. He's so needy. I don't know how you girlos cant post here everyday. Every waking moment is spent cuddling him. Don't get me wrong... I love cuddling him. But he whinges when theres nothing wrong and I get nothing done. Even right now I'm pushing thru him throwing himself about, when im typing one handed. My mil gets him to fall asleep during the day for me when were over there. Basically when hes asleep, I just veg and do nothing or read. I'm exhausted all the time.
Tummy time is an issue. He hates it. Screams the instant hes on his tummy. Cant do it after his bath, coz hes fed and wrapped and he falls asleep. He doesnt even try! He'll get a few head lifts in and then just puts his head down and sucks his fist. The physio says heaps of tummy time to correct his flat spot, but all i can think is are you coming over to make sure he does when he screams?
We enjoyed Nixon's (my sisters lil boy) first birthday party on Sunday! Jensen's needles went well on Thurs last week. He was asleep when we started, after each needle hed close his eyes to go back to sleep and fed after the last needle must have hurt more than the others then went back to sleep.
Other that not much is happening here. The house is a shambles. We did however have our first swim yesterday. He hated it. Pity no one was there to take a photo of his first swim, even though he screamed the whole time. Oh well. Have to fake it next time.
Better go, maybe check back in later. Hes crying again:cry: :( :dunno:
scone, for what its worth, i often wonder how the other ladies find the time to post sometimes too. i think we all have our good and bad days. i'm sorry your colicky days are still persisting here and there but as I am continuously told by ppl - it WILL get better as bub gets older. despite ur stress u sound like ur coping like any of us wld be. I know its easier said than done when u hear someone tell u to forget about the housework for a while (i cant forget it myself!) but a good arvo or good day will come and u'll be able to do some stuff. trust me, thats how i get anything done at my place.
i get really antsy too when i'm at MIL's or relos place and Willa wont settle for me. i keep thinking i must look a bit inept and then i feel like i want to be home doing my own thing with willa. but just remind urself that u are jensen's mum and that despite everything, no one knows him better than u.
ok, back to pushing this pram back and forth - willa's been on the boob all day so am appreciating a bit of time out!
sonia
Scone, I only put scone coz i can't b bothered checking the spelling, I have placid kids. Em is usually in my arm and Sarah is wandering around the house entertaining herself. Have u tried the Brauer colic relief? does he spill lots? if he spills loads of milk up, u should get him checked for reflux.
No more potty successes yet but it is only early days.
HI all
Alison I think your winning on the stretchies, but i hear you on the soft corrugated iron.
Corr, sorry to hear about the thrush. Don't blame yourself I wouldn't have know what to look for either. 8kg's wow. How old is he now? Xavier is 12 weeks and just over 6. Our car seat goes up to 9kg's in the rear facing.
Dee, I haven't seen fran for a little while but you will find her in the july thread. i post in there too, as well as here
kim hang in there, he will extnd his sleep time
zriannon, hang in there. Have you tried laying him on his back and playing. I found this was the only way i would get some peace and it's been working for a few weeks. It has improved his day sleeps too.
Fingers crossed todays a better day! ATM he's asleep on me. Beautiful! Decided we'd go for a walk yesterday, up the road to see my dad and grandma. It's a 30min walk there... and guess I should have rung first - coz they weren't home! I waited 15mins and walked home again. The walk was really to help my sanity and calm Jensen a bit. It worked. He slept the whole time, right up til we were back in our street! I felt so good! Later tho, he fell asleep during tummy time. He didn't sleep after his bath and cried and cried while we tried to eat dinner. Andrew and I had a bit of an arguement. He left. So I got dressed and took Jensen for a walk round the block. 15mins later he was asleep (shame the walk went for another 15mins! lol) Good bit of exersize and everything is sorted now. I don't feel as exhausted today. Must've been the walking. I will have to persevere with him on the floor at all! lol Just doesn't seem to like it! We have exersizes to do for his neck muscles and plagiocephaly (flat spot) I think he's doing quite well.
Kim Hope you have a great day at the meet-up, sorry I can't make it!
Ali, were were using the Infants Friend, but the circ dr noticed he had bad wind and put us onto Donnalix Drops. Wow! Does it work a treat! Shame it didn't last night. Think he just worked himself up too much.
Oh I'm starting to realise why the mothers who's babies sleep through the night are so happy! For the last couple of nights, he's been sleeping thru! Well, when I say sleeping thru, at least one feed, or none at all! Wednesday night it was 8-3(sleep feed - he cried and I thought he was awake and fed him... maybe he was only a lil awake) then again til 6. And last night omg 8-530 Andrew and I woke up to him crying... to be surprised by the daylight streaming in the window! I was so happy! Fingers crossed its a new thing here to stay!
There's really no whinging in todays post... far too refreshed and content to do that! We're off to the opp shops, the health nurse to check his weight, print some photos and find a present for BIL coz his bday was yesterday!
Hope you all have a great day!
Morning girls,
Rhiannon - Glad to hear that Jensen is going ok. I'm sure his weight issues are nothing serious. Good to hear that the needles went well too. Like Alison said maybe you should give the Brauer's Colic Relief a go. When Colby was showing signs of colic i gave her sips of diluted Gripwater and that brang the wind up really well. Colby wants to be constantly on the boob or held in the afternoons too. I don't know what it is but it is quite frustrating when there are things that need to be done. I know how you feel there. I have bitten the bullet a few times and just given her a dummy. Keeps her quiet until i've eaten and things like that. But i am adament about only giving it to her when there is no other option. Have you tried laying Jensen on his side rather than his tummy??? At least that not on his back. Briley did'nt like tummy time either. One of the ladies in my other Baby Buddies group has a son who had the same problem. I will ask her what she did if you like.
Kim - No its not sad about wanting to meet other people with kids. I have been to a mothers group the last 2 thursdays. Its a good way to get out of the house and chat with other woman in the same situation as you. I have met a mum that is currently pregnant and wants me to be her Doula!!!! Her husband in is the RAAF and might not be here when she has the baby. Plus she has'nt got any family up here. I hope you have a great day!
Hi to everyone else!
Well we are going swimming soon. Went to the mothers group yesterday and met at a kids pool. I could'nt swim or get into the water cause i had to nurse Colby. Briley would'nt go in the water without me either. So after the group i called my mum and sis to come down to watch the girls while i had a proer swm.....IT WAS BEEEUUUTIFUL!!!! Thats why i am going back today. I have'nt been swimming like that since i was pregnant while Briley. I floated on my back with the water in my ear and my eyes closed. The silence was bliss. I love the sound of water underneath the water!!! IYKWIM. So, if you can't tell....i had a good time!
Colby is good. Still vomiting a fair bit after feeds lately. I might have to take her to the Dr and have her checked for reflux if it keeps up. I know BF babies tend to spew whole lot more than FF bubs.
Well better go and get ready!!! I can't wait!!! Perfect weather too!!!
Have a great day ladies!!!
HI all,
I'm back for seconds as xavier decided to have another sleep.
We are now officially at 12 weeks old. Not sure if we had a bad week leading up to it or not, I'm thinking we had that at 11 weeks. He's now a healthy little 6.08kg's (13lb 6oz) a nice long 63 cm and his head is 40.8cm. about another kg and he would have doubled his birth weight. scary huh.
He has been dribbling and chowing down on his fists for feels like weeks and weeks now,
Rhiannon, WOOO HOOO, how much does a good sleep for mum help!! Fingers crossed this is the start of a new trend for you.
Sara good to hear you got some you time. a nice float in a pool sounds like bliss. Good for the psyche me thinks.
Scone, I hope Andrew came back!
Well girls, we have Immunisations today. Sarah will go 1st, then Em, then Me. No i'm not having shots, just my pb checkup.
Sarah has learned to say 'wee' but i don't think she knows what it means yet. oh well, whenever she says it i run her to the potty so she will get it very soon!
Sarah is asleep and Em is laying in the pram talking to herself. Should get myself some lunch!
Allison, sarah has plenty of time to learn how to use the potty.
to make it fun to use the potty, my sister used to paint my nieces toe nails. kept her on there long enough for a good try. it was funny, to see such a little person with painted nails. I don't think xavier will let me do that
Sorry, still havnt caught up on posts prior 2 my last post.
Sonia, every bub is diff though. I can never remember Holly's milestones, I have to check my www - milestones, hehe. She rolled (repeatedly) from tummy to back at 14wks & from back to tummy at 5mths.
Ours has timber slats on 3 sides but Alan added straps with clip (from a backpack) when Holly was trying to stand on the changetable all the time, i dont use these for Lanah yet though.
I got about 2-3 small stretchmarks on my hips with Holly but many on my bum cheeks & bb's. But with Lanah, I think I took it for granted more & didnt use the cream regularly, ended up with about 10ish purplish stretchies on my lower tummy & whitish thin ones on my thighs & the purplish ones on my bum & hip which had faded, darkened again. I hate the flabby belly, it feels/looks so gross & im self concious bout it.
Oh no Kim on ur puppy dogs, ouch. Hehe, we didnt get a floater with Holly until she was over 1yo, she was standing in the shower with me & did a few poos. Then when i was about 7mths preggas with Lanah, Holly did 2 floaters in the bath, thats it so far, twice & no runny ones, TOUCH WOOD, hehe.
Corr, dont feel bad bout not diagnosing the thrush, we're not medically trained so hard to know when something is actually medically wrong. At least Cam's ok now. :) Yikes bout the car seat situation, GL with it, hmmm maybe a google search might come up with some answers. Aus is one of the only countries with very relaxed regulations on rear-ward facing car seats as they say 6mths/8kg can turn it around whereas other countries generally say 12mths, but not much u can do when bub just simply doesnt fit rearwards. We were able to keep Holly rearward facing til about 13mths old. Guess it also really depends on the type of carseat u have.
Rhiannon, hope Jensen's checkup goes well. Lanah doesnt get much tummy time either, if do it after a feed, she chucks & hard with Holly running around. Most of the time she gets tummy time lying against my chest.
Hope the colic eases up, it must be hard. Wow at the needles, yikes, Lanah cried after her 2nd needle, didnt really flinch much with the first. She only cried for 1-2mins then was a little unsettled on/off afterwards, she'd already fed b4hand.
WTG on the sleeping, sounds like things are improving, xlnt. Yay on the walks & Jensen having a nap during.
Sounds like a growth spurt there Sonia, gets that way huh, like haven't left couch from feeding, hehe.
Wow at the TT Ali, no sign of Holly wanting to TT yet, but like u said, early days. I read the TT thread in here the other day & I think it said TT can start anywhere between 18mths - 3yrs old. We still dont have a potty, doh. bit when she's doing a poo I say r u doing a poo Holly, so hopefully she'll understand soon. Must get a potty.
Sara, u did well having 2 kids at/near the kiddie pool anyhow. Sounds like u had a relaxing time at the pool. I'd luv to take Holly to beach/pool with mums group but just cant bring myself to in case something happens, as Holly will just want to bolt, lil monkey. They went to the baths/beach last wk & there's no way I could run after Holly, unlike a kiddie pool.
Lanah is bigger than Holly was. Holly really filled out shortly after formula which started at 6mths. Birth weights in my siggie :)
Hehe, yeah same for Lanah, she's just starting to play with toys (reach out).
Hope everyone else is well.
Just popping in quickly to report that Willa slept through last night! I'm thinking it was a one off event, so am not holding out on it happening again tonight.
But wow, I managed to get 7 hours of uninterrupted sleep for the first time in 10 weeks!!!! Pure bliss i tell you!! And even more surprising I didn't get up at 4am in a panic with engorged bbs either. Both of us just slept through.
It would have been the eventful day she had - shopping trip to burwood westfield in t he arvo and then BBQ at her great grandma's place in the evening. It was the first time i had to put her down for evening bedtime in a strange place and she was just such a star about it! Anyway we got home and her daddy put her in her cot and that was that.
Another interesting development - well in my house anyway! - we seem to have done with wrapping now. I used the grobag briefly but its been in the wash since getting pooped on. Willa's just been sleeping in singlet and nappy and her 'blankie' that she has next to her nose. She shoves her face into it with her dummy and that usually sends her the 'time for sleep' signals. I know how one day can vary from the next when it comes to babies, but i'm hoping this fairly stress free sleep routine lasts.
Alright gotta scoot. Am off to make a bid for a lamp on ebay (my weekly excitement) and then relaxtion time. We been busy making steamed wontons at my place today and I've eaten waaaay too much.
back for personals tomorrow. hope u ladies have had a good weekend!
sonia
HI all,
Kim you lucky girl. I'm using my high chair right now. Have xavier propped up in it while i type. Every time I turn to look at him and talk to him he gives me a big smile.
Misty I'm glad it worked for you. i do find I have to do it now or I end up really full in the middle of the night. So If you want to stop you will need to do it gradually, just expressing for comfort to ensure your body doesn't produce too much.
Neuri, yay for a sleep, nice treat for a saturday night. I hope she did it again for you.
Corr, just a thought, have you tried contacting Vic roads and asking advice on weather you should invest in a seat that goes to 12kg rear facing or if the recommendations are purely based on weight versus motion. I guess it would also depend on how well he holds his head up, because if he can't you don't want to turn him around 'cause his head would flop all over the place.
Em had her needles today and took all of the gastro stuff. the nurse was surprised she didn't spit it!
will do personals later!
Hi all,
How are you all going.
My little man has a cold, but seems to be ok with it all. he was more put out by our trip out to see the doctor, 'cause the whole excursion cut into some normal routine.
Oh, well.
Em has figured out how to pull herself forward in her carseat. scared the **** out of me when I saw her head bobbing up n down while I checked my blind spot!
My knee is definitely injured. Physio has me in a pressure bandage to give it some stability. started having probs with it when got preg with Em. Didn't stop me from mowing the lawn tho! thats good exercise!
Em has a bit of a belly ache today. hope it's not from the gastro stuff. still have to put olive oil on her cradle cap.
Bec, Every little cold builds his immunity for later life. hope it doesn't last long 4 u tho coz it's a real pain when u can hear them struggling to breathe.
Kim, Fantastic on the tummy time!! cant wait to c the pics!
Hi every1 else.
Hi girls,
Sorry i have'nt been on lately. I am in a bit of bad place at the moment. Having relationship issues amongst a lot of other things.
Bec - Awww poor Xav! Colby's entrance to world started with a cold! Not a nice thing is it. Do you count his age from the day he was born??? I have been counting it from the date (3'rd). I have been saying that Colby is 12 weeks on saturday. Xavier is growing beautifully is'nt he. I will get Colby weighed and measured on thursday or friday. The MHN does'nt work on saturdays and plus i don't want to have to come into town!
Kim - We got some new piccies today too. I will email some around soon! Nice to hear that Hayden brought you some lovely things!! Lucky girl you! he he!
Shell - Nice to hear from you hun! Its hard to keep up with posts sometimes is'nt it! Don't worry to much abou it. We just like to hear from you every now and then!
Sonia - WooHoo on Willa sleeping through! A massive acheivement!
Alison - Yep we have lots of head movement here too. Colby is'nt happy unless she is propped up and looking around!
Hi to everyone else!
Well girls its taken me all day to do this post. We have a big day tomorrow and i want an early night!
Hope you are all well
Take Care!
