Ohhhh Thanks MadB i hadn't even noticed it yet!!
Ok for the first time in what seems like forever i'm going to get some personals done!!
MadB i have been trying to keep miss Harper upright as much as i can and i raised her cot even more today. I'm just frustrated and confused i think, in the moment when you are so tired and nursing the little one who just won't sleep or is so uncomfortable everything just seems so terrible, you feel like it'll never get better but i know it does. Tiredness and grumpiness can get the better of me sometimes i think  Sounds like your little lady is handling things ok. Sounds like you got the tricky one first up and the easy one second and i got the easy two first up and the tricky one third. I think we're both doing the 'she will grow out of this' chant, they will because that's what everyone tells us right!!??
Cathie thanks so much for your kind words, we've both got our hands full. I manage fine when things are going smoothly and i feel like i'm in control but when things aren't so smooth i let the stress get the better or me. You must have so much patience :D My gosh that is rediculous pricing for the aquarium!! Familes would be one of their #1 customers surely yet they make it almost out of reach with such expensive entry fees. We went to the Melb Museum late last year and it was was $8 each for DH and i to get in and i think the boys were free, it was a great day and the boys loved it. Cheap and so much fun, that's the way everything should be :D A playgroup sounds like fun for the twins, i know i now enjoy the timeout without any guilt, it's good for them and it's good for me.
Kaz what great sleeps little Will is having. Great milk making!!! :D How's Pip going? Are things settling a little now?
Georgi, i am quite pleased Harper has taken the dummy all of a sudden she just started sucking on it. After all the times i'd put one in her mouth with no reaction and then finally yes!! It'll just help a little with her unsettled stage and when things are a little hectic with the boys. I hate hearing her cry. I saw your little/big man has been toilet training, sounds like he's doing really well. Our dirty nappies have slowed down a fair bit too and i'm not sure if this is because of the zantac she is on. She hasn't had a pooie bott since yesterday morning. I'm a little scared for when the next one comes
Jules i have raised the cot, i do find that helps also thanks for the suggestion. I'm so jealous of all the smiles, we're not getting many from Harper yet. Yep bring on the giggles, they are beautiful. I really hope Jacob is now snoozing, that he has a great night, you get some sleep and have a really good day tomorrow
To all the other lovely ladies and their babies i hope you are all well and enjoying your little ones.
AFU Harper is on Zantac but some days it just seems to have no effect whatsoever. The other night Harper was sleeping upright on Peter's chest and she'd snooze between burps and cries in discomfort from the gastric juices coming up... hours after a feed. Today she was really unsettled, not extremely grumpy but didn't sleep too much. THe best sleep she had all day was on me in the hugabub. But then after a bath tonight she went to sleep, no tears, no dummy, no going back and forth to settle!!! I'm in shock!! Apart from all of that horrible stuff she is beautiful, she now weighs 9.9lb and is growing beautifuly. The only thing i'm sad about is that so far with what we've been dealing with we haven't had many smiles. She doesn't get a floor play becasue the opportunity to have a play doesn't arrise as i'm keeping her upright as long as i can then she's sleepy and ready for bed. Once all this mess is sorted out i hope for a much happier baby. We got our photos today that the photographer came and took, one of them is my fb profile pic and i'll put a few more on for you all to see. I love them, the family one didn't really turn out like we suspected but i'll put it on fb for a laugh
OK bed time for me girls, a little earlier than the last week or so.
Sweet dreams all xoxo
JULES - When I was reading your comment to me I thought you were gonna say your BB fell out lol. I have to put a cloth nappy under my BB when feeding cause it normally comes so fast that Eden can't keep up so it dribbles out his mouth. He quite often has it on him too. Oh your DH was a little selfish yesterday. I can't believe he still went even when you asked him to stay. Big hugs... Hope Jacob has a good day today for you
MADB - Yeah those terry cloths are a god send! Glad Miri had a good sleep yesterday. Does your DS not always have day sleeps? DS1 loves his day sleeps. He can sleep up to 4 hours if I'd let him. I now wake him at 2.5 hours if he doesn't wake
KAZBAH - Yay on Will's sleeping. That's awsome! I hope E continues to sleep well through the night
EJ - That's funny that Harper has suddenly taken the dummy. DS1 just never did. Maybe I gave up too soon. We survived though. But it's easier with the first cause you can give them the attention but when DS1 needs attention poor Eden gets left to cry. That's where I'm finding the dummy is sooooo good. I'm sure you're the same. Your kids are so beautiful. So good looking. Does one of your boys have ginger hair? Or more strawberry blonde like my Byron
Well I'm happy to say that Eden slept from 8.30pm to 4.30am. Yay. I feed him at 7.30pm and go to bed when he does (DS1 is in bed by then) so I had enough sleep. He did wake at 2, 3 & 4am with little cries but went straight back to sleep. Unfortunately I tossed & turned wondering when he was gonna wake up so didn't have a good sleep, but hey, it's much better than the last couple of nights. I hope he keeps doing that, I'd be stoked.... Then I wouldn't care what time DS1 wakes in the morning (usually between 5 & 5.30am). I had such a busy afternoon yesterday that poor Eden didn't sleep much cause I was taking him in & out of the car etc. I'd say that's why, he was just so tired.
Happy Australia Day! DH is working today so it's just another normal day for me. Off for a walk then cleaning the bathrooms
Bah, so tired. HAve to drive the kids out to my parents today so DH can work from home - he's really behind and stressing.
I'm glad some of you are getting sleep :) DD slept 8-11:30 last night, then couldn't get her back to sleep till about 3am. She was awake again by 4:30... I guess she'll sleep all day again. I can't keep her awake - she just gets so angry! Even on days when she doesn't sleep so well during hte day, she still doesn't sleep at night.
Oh well, at least DH helps me.
EJ - Even though DD is easier than DS, I'm finding my patience is definitely shorter this time round. Maybe it's the accumulated sleep deficit over the past few years? I also find myself getting stressed and frustrated at times - the middle of the night is the worst, of course. I'm sure I didn't get like this with DS until 9-10 months or so
We used a dummy for a little while with DS when he was very unsettled (it's supposed to help with reflux), but he then refused it. Which I'm glad about really. I hate dummies  - the main reason being aesthetic.
Hope Eden does keep sleeping like that and you can sleep too Georgi!
MadB - I know, I don't like the sight of a baby with a dummy in it's mouth, but geeze it's a life-saver sometimes! Don't forget that we're in the middle of a fussy phase leading up to a "stormy" period with a developmental leap around 5-6 weeks. I hear you on the patience - I'm losing patience and then taking it out on Pip :( Poor lad.
Georgi - that's a great sleep!!! Must say, that if I was able to get up in the morning then I'd get so much more done.
EJ - you look gorgeous love!!! Poor little Harper - you know, what I've read and stuff says that they finish digesting 90mins after a meal, so their tummy is supposedly empty, but I reckon that's bumf - I know that Will brings up milk a couple of hours or more after a feed too. Poor little thing, can you smell the gastric juices on her breath or something???
Jules - hope you got some good rest finally
Cathie - Hope you're having more fun with the family today!!!!
Happy Australia Day all ... and congrats on Survival Day as well.
I'm free of everyone at the moment!!!! DH and AIdan are out at a bbq and we'll be heading there soon but right now Harper and Charlie are sleeping so i'm so free free free
Georgi just like you maybe i never persisted enough with the boys and a dummy but we made it through. For Harper with the reflux and being the 3rd child her taking that dummy is a bit of a god send. For now, if i can get rid of it whent he reflux settles down i'd be happy. I was always not a big fan dreading the thought of having get up to a baby solely because he/she needed the dummy put back in their mouth. Just me being lazy maybe  We do have a bit of a strawberry blonde in our family (on DH's side). Aidan is much darker now than he was and Charlie boy is staying quite fair still. They were all born with dark hair just like Harpers though. I had ringlets :o as a little one and i can see a slight curl to Harper's hair. I hope she has them!! Great sleeps for your little man, you must have woken up sooo happily. I dont' know how you do the 5ish starts though, i know you have no choice but gosh it'd be tricky
Oh MadB your little lady is being a little cheekie :D Maybe has her days and nights mixed up but then like you said if she refuses to wake during the day it may take a little to sort that out. I hope it happens soon for you though. Yes patience is definately a learnt ability and i think it takes a lot of practice. I'm ok until all three are at me  I'm glad your DH helps, it can be such a lonely frustrating time sometimes and when your body and mind is telling you it's sleep time but you can't do it... oohhh you just want to scream. Good luck for tonight :D
Kaz it's so tricky not to take it out on the kids sometimes, i think sometimes they sense something and then become a little more clingy or demanding and that's when it just gets all too much. All digested in 90min?? Maybe for some but not for all :D Harper is constantly burping and swallowing all times of the day. She doesn't vomit milk, most of the time what she brings up is just swallowed back down, it never acutally comes out but when it does it's pretty much just clear. Sometimes when i'd go in to her when she cries out from a sleep her wrap and sheets a wet from the juices. Yes i can sometimes smell the juices.
Well last night was amazing. No tears at all and went to sleep and stayed asleep for 5 or 6 hours no resettling needed. I wonder if it had anything to do with the osteo appt we had yesterday? We've started off with a better week this week so lets just hope it continues. She seems to be doing ok, she's having a pooey bott every couple of days now and when she does it's sooo much thicker than the boys ever had at this age. I think it's the zantac.
That's about it, i can hear her waking up now. My quiet time was great while it lasted. Happy Australia Day girls and Happy Hottest 100 Day also.
EJ - Eden doesn't sleep with the dummy, I won't let him. As you said, I refuse to get up during the night to pop it back in. I only use it while he is awake and if i'm trying to get something done & he won't stop crying. I'm in bed by 9pm most nights so that makes it easier to get up so early. DS1 started waking at 5/5.30 when we took him out of the nursery (when I was about 34weeks pg) & put him in his new room cause it's so much lighter. So i'm pretty use to it now
I also totally agree about the look of dummies. I don't like seeing babies with them in either. Weird hey
I totally appreciate the practical benefits of dummies, so don't get me wrong there. :D
EJ that's great. Who knows why.. maybe it's a combination fo things (plus you could be on the other side of the 'hump' now...) That stuff can gum them up a bit - if it becomes a problem maybe talk to your doc about trying something else. There's a thread somewhere in the baby forum (I think...?) about this with a rec for a different medication.
I'm soo tired today. and stressed out. I don't think Dh actually got any work done. :wall: he drives me batty sometimes but that's subject for a whole other thread I think (one I'll probably never bother writing).
Anyway, you're right Kaz, it is 'that' time of course.
DD did manage to have a good 1 hour 'play' time today, which is pretty unusual for her (in the day time I mean ).
I go to bed early too - pretty much as soon as I can get DD to sleep.
Nigh-night!
Kaz – What a good little boy you have!! I’m so glad you’re able to get some sleep!! I’m so jealous!! Hope he keeps it up for you.
MadB – Nope, no time for things for myself, don’t be silly! I’m just the new mother  Oh well, he’s lucky I love nothing more than time with my son, even when times can get tough. How cheeky is Miri!! Definitely has her nights and days mixed up. At least she’s not overtired (just her mummy is!!) :)
EJ – Love the new avatar!! How cool is that!! I’m so glad that raising Harper’s mattress has helped a little… Don’t worry, I’m sure your smiles will get more frequent soon. Jacob doesn’t smile much when he’s tired, he is only really happy if he’s had a good sleep (which is rare once again these days!) Great work on Harper’s weight gain! She looks like she’s growing really well! I loved the family pic on fb, I think it’s just perfectly realistic, a bit of chaos with two parents that are equally happy and in love with their family regardless…perfection! :) awww how cute are ringlets, I hope she gets them too!!
Georgi - no, no BB’s falling out here, hahaha. I hear you on the cloth nappy, I put one down too. Wow!!! Another great sleeper…I’m glad you’re able to get some rest.
AFU – Jacob is back to fighting sleep with all he has. He’s not too difficult to deal with, just over tired and needing so much help to nod off. I have had him on the mattress with me the last two nights as I have tried unsuccessfully to put him to sleep for an hour and a half in his bassinette and he’s still fighting it so the only way for us both to rest is to have him in with me. He falls asleep really well when he can keep an eye on me. I don’t mind it at night but I’m hoping he doesn’t make it a habit through the day. I really hope I’m not creating a monster here… Last night he slept for four hours straight!! That is HUGE for us…It was well worth having him in bed with me! It feels a lot safer now that he’s a bit bigger. He’s currently sleeping in my arms as he will not sleep anywhere else this morning…oh well, as long as he rests. We have an appointment with the health nurse this morning, guess I’ll see what my chunky monkey has put on this week! We went for a wonderful walk yesterday afternoon, it was SOOOOOOO hot, but we both enjoyed the fresh air…even if he was too sleepy to realise where he was
Hope you all have a great day!! xoxo
Four hours Jules! That's great. Definitely just take him straight to bed with you if that works. Don't worry about that little voice telling you you're creating a problem, ok? The first few months (or whenever things are 'difficult') are all about survival - if this works best then just do it.
All kids are different of course, but I co-slept with DS on and off for the first 20 months or so, and he now sleeps very happily in a bed by himself. I also fed and rocked and cuddled him to sleep all that time too. I did it all 'wrong', and yet, he's just fine :)
Miri was a little better last night. Maybe we should sleep with the lights on - she seems to do beter in full sunlight
Hope everyone else is doing well
Hi ladies
MadB and Georgi - I was the biggest Anti Dummy person you ever met, until I had my first child and it all changed sooooo quickly. All my children have had dummies since birth and the twins still have Dummies they will go at the end of the year. They only have there Dummies at home never out and about.
EJ - I'm soo glad you had a better night Yay
Kaz - Aust day we just stayed home and did nothing. It was GREAT....
Well Mater Charlie did not like the heat yesterday he was unsettled all day, I gave him 2 baths and plenty of boiled water but he just would not settle. I hope it starts to cool down. Lily starts school next week she is sooo excited, the boys are not that excited hahahahah. I AM YAY heheheh. Now what to cook for dinner, it's that last thing I'm thinking about at the end of the day.
Thanks MadB - I really agree with you there... the way I see it - they are only young for so long. It's not forever, and if it means I'm going to get some sleep then I really don't care!! He has had one sleep in his basinette today and he's back on the mattress with me now, but I'm off and on while I get things done and he's not bothered so thats good! Thanks for the reassurance. sounds like lights might be a good idea for young Miri.
Cathie - Jacob hates the heat too!! He is such a hot baby!! I have the a/c on quite low and the fan going and he's STILL warmish, definately his fathers son!! Hope Charlie feels better today. Dinner...damn it, I thought all my jobs were done!!
AFU - went to health nurse and she was really happy with Jacob, another 365 grams in 7 days and she charted him on the growth chart and he isn't putting on excessive weight for his size, he's growing just as much in length so that's great news. I can't believe my 'little' man is now 5075 grams!! Definately not a newborn baby any more!! :( :) They really do grow soooo fast. We're having an ok day, his sleeping is pretty norm but at least he's getting a little. Must go, time to feed the hungry hungry hippo
xo
It's funny how you change your mind about things once you actually have kids, hey?
My mum always says: I was the perfect parent. Then I had children.
woo hoo for school. I cleaned the house today and am on my 3rd load of washing - DS is in daycare, can you tell? The house will return to it's usual feral state within 30 minutes of he and his father getting home :wall: I shall enjoy the clean floors and clear benchtops for a few more hours....
ETA - he's a big, healthy boy Jules - good job.
Hello all, it has been a loooong week offline (apart from the odd fb encounter) and I am enjoying reading about your respective weeks!
Millie was wonderful for Mum's first day here. But then I'm not sure what happened first: Mum making suggestions, me getting tense, or Millie mucking up. If I hear, "Can I just make a suggestion" one more time I think I will actually start doing Exorcist-style pea soup, head spinning vomit. I love my Mum and respect how she raised me and my sister, but I am not doing things the way she did. As an example of a point of conflict: I'm the same as a lot of you in here - don't like dummies per se but they do have their place - and as far as I'm concerned that is to pacify Millie if she's inconsolable or we can't reassure her (eg post-shots, long car trips etc). We tried putting her to sleep with one once (on Mum's suggestion) and sure she settled faster than ever, but we were up every so often to pop the damn thing back in. I'd rather put in the hard yards to begin with than have her settle fast but wake up every 15 minutes. Gah. Anyway, my confidence took a nose dive the second day Mum was here and I was a blithering mess by yesterday. Never thought I'd be glad for my mother to go home. I know that sounds horrible but it's true. I was just desparate to get our space back... then Dad invited himself to stay last night too. ARGH!
Today started off pretty badly with Dad making helpful observations like "She cries a lot, doesn't she?" and me gritting my teeth until he left. *SIGH* went to the toilet. Phone rang. Millie woke. Knock at the door. VERY LOUD OBSCENITY. It was our neighbour, who had a little boy 8 weeks before Millie arrived and who has 3 other kids. I'm in my nightie, hair everywhere and probably a very wild look in my eyes. Neighbour asks: "Are you okay?" I burst into tears. "Not really!" She soothed me and invited me over for a cuppa with her and a couple of friends. I sniffled, "I'll see how we go." Had a really good cry, had a shower, pulled myself together and went next door, intending to stay for about an hour and then head off. I was there from 10.30 - 5.30. Millie seemed to realise that she couldn't compete with 8 other kids, a puppy and a black ****atoo, and was a gem. The other ladies were hilarious and one had brought her professional makeup kit and we spent the afternoon playing grown-up facepainting. I'm sitting here all made up with nowhere to go and it feels wonderfully absurd. I have to stop taking things so seriously... I need to learn to let peoples' "advice" wash over me and trust myself a lot more.
Took Millie to the paediatric cardiologist last Friday - another occasion on which I deemed a dummy potentially useful, but it wasn't needed. The doc is brilliant with kids and Millie was flirting with him, the little scamp!!! Smiling and cooing and carrying on!!! She was transfixed by the screen on the ultrasound machine. The upshot is that she doesn't have a murmur, she has two tiny (1-2mm) intraventricular holes in her heart. The specialist said that if you have to have a heart defect, this is the one to have, as it is highly likely that they will close up as she grows, and even if they don't, they are very small and in the least significant place, so it won't cause issues with her playing sport or anything. BIG sigh of relief here.
Oh, and that super cute little rosebud suit in the pictures last week? I think Millie is trying to tell me something: every time I put her in it she has a blowout. Seriously. She's three for three. No blowouts EXCEPT when she wears that pretty little suit.
Apologies for the lack of personals - I will be back tomorrow. All the best to you all - sleep tight!
xox
MadB - I hope the boys were kind to the house and it's still showing signs of all your hard work! I vaccumed yesterday only to have DH eat a sausage roll and drop pastry all over the floor *sigh*
Oh PP - big hugs . What a stressful few days you've had! I know what you mean by people 'offering suggestions'. Only mine isn't my mother, it's my mother in law. You definately need to trust yourself, you've done a wonderful job so far, and you've done it all just you and DH. You didn't need their 'suggestions' to get by before so just continue doing what you do best, being a wonderful mother to Millie, YOUR WAY! I hope you and Millie can get back to having your own routine that works again soon. How lovely of your neighbour! Sounds like such a beautiful girlie day! Almost as though her friend with the make up knew you needed the pick-me-up! :D Oh and excellent news about Millie's heart!!
I’m baaaa-ack!
Butterfly, good on you for your quick action with Matteo. That must have been so frightening for you. I hope he’s growing well and that you have him settled in with you at home.
EJ I hope Harper’s tummy has settled down? You’re so obviously a loving caring Mum – don’t be so hard on yourself. (I know, I should take my own advice… we are all so quick to support and reassure each other but beat ourselves up don’t we?!) What did the osteo do? A friend took her little boy to a kinesiologist and apparently he has been an angel since. Millie is being a dream again today but if she goes through another feral phase (or my parents visit again :D) I might take her along…
Cathie those prices are ludicrous. It’s not right at all. The only time I have been into the Aquarium was on a school excursion – group rates for the kids and teachers free :) the tradeoff was I was responsible for 30 year 9 students!! I might have a shuffle through my entertainment book – I think there’s some coupons for a lot of those attractions?
Kaz, zoo membership is such a great idea. Friends of mine who live in Dubbo have a pass for Western Plains Zoo that they are also able to use whenever they come to Sydney. It’s such a good deal.
Georgi, Jules and MadB… it never rains but it pours :) I wish!!
MadB, your Mum’s quote is so true :)
Thanks Jules :)
Something else that happened this week was that I changed Millie’s formula. She had really been straining to poo and was generally unsettled. I did a bit of research and it turns out that the formula she was on can be a bit too rich for some babies, so we swapped her onto a simple one (actually the same one my Mum fed me… I guess I am following some of Mum’s lead after all :) ) It has had a few days to work through her system and it seems to be doing her some good. Not so good for her rosebud romper :)
Well I’m off to accomplish some of the things I didn’t do yesterday… even though it’s overcast the world looks much brighter today. Enjoy your day, ladies :)
xox
I'm back after more than a week offline - has definitely been a week of dramas!
purple - yay for next door! I have a wonderful neighbour across the road who I can run to after a shocking night. It makes such a difference, just knowing she's there. Nell loves to poo in her gorgeous outfits too - last Friday it was a day 8 poo, in a designer dress a friend had given us, and her nappy was busted, so it exploded everywhere, we had to bath her at SIL's place! I really struggled with having my mum staying here too - she din't suggest that much, and we're on the same page dummy-wise. She couldn't pick DD's cues, but thought she could, and I stupidly listened to her rather than trusting my own instincts.
Then the floods hit - we evicted mum and embarked on 3 days without power. Not too bad, except for washing nappies! Then we went to Melbourne for a week. Wasn't previously in the plans, but with the floods the ILs took us to them rather than coming up here. It ended in tears. And yelling. And a punch in the face for DH, from his sister, over parenting choices. Full on. I wouldn't hand the baby round because it makes her unsettled and she fusses at the breast a lot. And because I did everything I could to be attentive and keep her settled, she was settled. So the ILs don't believe me that she's actually quite a fusspot of a baby and think I'm just being a b!tch. So our last day, the day I wanted to be strictest about, DH asked me to give in and hand her around, for the sake of family peace. So I did. Timed the rest of the day well so I could be feeding on takeoff. But the flight was delayed, baby started to get antsy, wouldn't feed on takeoff because I'd fed her in the terminal and then she was overtired anyway and we had a horror flight. I wanted to hand MIL's phone number to everyone around me on the plane, saying "complain to her, totally her fault"
Then we got home, and the poor little poppet had a couple of tough days. Australia Day was just too hot and noisy - she slept for an hour. Total. Then didn't go to bed until 10pm. She was fussing, I was crying, her dad was paralytically drunk - I wasn't happy about that, but I don't blame him after what he went through with his family.
Yesterday was a much better day though - I have promised both of us two straight days of nothing but me being attentive to her. She is so so so so much better when I can just respond to her needs straight away. Booooo-hiss to the ILs who want me to let her cry. Never in my life. (OK, except in the car when I can't do anything else. But DH and I have agreed to cut the car trips for a while)
And other dramas along the way, but more on those later.
Oh, God Audax. HUGS. For both you and DH.
Far out Audax! Sounds like you know exactly what your little one needs. Why do other people think they know better?
My mum was the same at first with DS, telling me to leave him etc "you'll have to let him cry sometimes..." Really? Why? Anyway, after a while (and a withering look from me as she tried to tell me this for the upteenth time) she said "I should just stop, shouldn't I?" And then she did. Now she's on board with our way 100%, because she sees that it has worked well afterall. I hope your families will come round with time (or at least keep their mouths shut if they don't).
Can't believe your DH got punched Audax!
I think i have a different child!! Or the child that i know she should be. A happy one, a child who gets her sleep, who doesn't cry in so much pain other than some wind here and there. Two weeks felt like months :o I truely hope we are on the other side of it now.
MadB do you have any idea where that thread on zantac and bowel movements might be? It's been almost 2 days now which i know can be normal from what you guys have been expereincing but maybe it's not so natural due to the meds. I can't see my doctor for another 2 weeks. I hope little Miri is having better evenings for you.
Jules is Jacob settling a little? Maybe he's just having a rough time with the first hump also. Haha that family shot is a funny one isn't it!? Chaos all around but DH and I are smiling like normal. Truthfully i was feeling so horrible, my body decided to get all hayfevery, with red watery eyes and i had to keep running to get tissues. That's ok, the photos of the children turned out beautiful. Your Hungry Hippo is so cute
Yay for the return of school Cathie, i'm kind of looking forward to the activities starting also but it will mean we're in the car more and it may become a little difficult with Harper. We'll have to see.
Oh PP what a week!? But it sounds like you topped it off with a much deserved fun day with friends. Days like that are wonderful and we must make an effort to give to ourselves here and there also. Good news about the heart diagnosis. I get nervous just thinking about/hearing about the word heart but with the reasurance you've been given it really sounds like everything will be quite ok. I'm so glad for you guys. I also absolutely agree with you on being hard on ourselves. I know i do it and i know i really need to take some of my own advice sometimes and have confidence in myself. It really is great having this little community because sometimes all it is is needing some confirmation that what we are doing is ok. And hearing that other little ones are behaving similarly is reasuring also. Harper has had two osteo appts now and honestly it looks like she's doing nothing. She's ever so gentle. It looks like she is just placing her hand behind Harpers head, back, or tummy and just holding it there but obviously she is doing some ever so gentle manipulation. After the first appt i can't say there was a whole lot of impovement but after the second there definately has been. Not sure if it's a coincidence or not but she did say Harper felt better the second week and a little less tight around the neck and tummy. We're going again on Thursday.
Audax what a week for you also :o Time away is supposed to be relaxing!? It can get tricky with a little one and so frustating when you and DH know your child and what is good for her. Surely people know how overtired and stimulated little ones can get being passed around. It's all ok for them until bub gets upset then they pass back a very difficult bub. Glad you guys are home and able to just do what you guys want now.
Butterfly Forever i've been meaning to say also how amazing you were. Your little one was so lucky you were there. I hope you never have to have an expereince like that again. I hope little Mateo is home and settling in with you and the rest of your family. Big hugs for being so strong and look forward to hearing more progress on your little man.
Kaz saw Pip riding his bike today, such a clever boy!!! How's your little man going?
AFU things are really look up. Harper has been in bed since 8:30am, i don't mind it when she's awake but when she sleeps so well i love it because i know she must really need it and it's good for her. So all i can assume is that the zantac is working and/or the osteo has helped also. No real way of knowing but i have a much happier baby and that's all i care about. She hasn't had a poo since Wednesday morning though, no sign of her wanting to yet but i'm a little nervous for when it does happen. MadB if you can't find the thread i may just start my own and see what advice i get from experience. My mum is out today so it's just us at home. Reading about the mothers and MIL i really feel for you. Usually it's me having a bit of a whinge but my mum has been so good. She is kind of living with us at the moment (her caravan is set up in our yard) and she has been such a good support to us. In the few weeks where Harper was really not good she helped a lot and probably saved a few arguements between DH and i  We just did a tag team of passing her and trying to settle her for hours each night. She doesn't seem to give unwanted advice which is really nice. My MIL has been pretty good also, she has 5 children and at some times was a single mother, she did things i would never do with my children but she doesn't really offer them as advice for me  I think she knows it's not going to happen. It's come at a great time from both of them because believe me both my mum and mil were not in my good books at all a few years ago (mum moved away when i was pregnant with Charlie), it is nice to not have so much angst and negativity in my life. I worried a lot about stress and passing it on to my baby when Charlie was little. It wasn't a good time family wise. Anyway i feel for you guys and hope things improve for you all.
I think that's it for now i'm off to build Thomas the Tank a train track.
Have a great Friday girls xox
