Babies born December 1st-15th 2010 #1

So tonight is a good night, no screaming thank goodness. I was feeding Harper though and she sat up for a burp and brought up a whole feed. I had no idea that much could fit in her little stomach. Must have been one big burp sitting under that meal that made her loose the whole lot :doh: All over me, the couch and the floor.

Today after her am feed i could not get her to sleep. The boys noise now seems to be a little too stimulating and she'd be dozing but open her eyes as soon as she heard them (our room is right near the boys lounge). She's obviously becoming a little more aware of her surroundings. So i've decided it's time to have her own area for sleeping and try and sort some kind of routine having her settle herself to sleep. So i moved her into her cot. I'm a little sad about it but i do feel it's time. She finally settled in there about 11am and had a great sleep. Woke for a feed about 2pm and was back in bed by 3pm until about 6pm so that was a nice couple of chunks of sleep.

Can't remember if i mentioned it in here or not but i ended up taking Harper to the dr. We now have her on Zantac for silent reflux. There seems to be some improvement and i hope to see some more soon for my little girl. I also have her booked into an osteopath on thursday afternoon so i'll be interested to hear what she says. Idealy i'd love to hear her say, i've done this, this and this and there is now no need to the zantac.

So tonight i've had a chance to sit here by myself and catch up on a few things. I had a shower and got dressed at about 4:30 this afternoon because i had to walk to the shops quickly. I washed my hair and for the first time in what seems like forever i was able to dry it and have it look half decent. All i could manage before that was a pony tail which i then had a permanent crease in my hair until i washed it again. Simple little things. I'm in the mood to start reading again and with Harper in her room i may be able to sit with the light on a bit and not be affraid of waking her.

PP you just reminded me why i bought Aktivite. I too saw somewhere that said it help with your breastmilk, back when i was searching around when feeding Charlie boy. Yum, i just had it on ice cream tonight :D The drive did help yesterday PP, she snoozed and i just had this feeling if we hung around home she may not have settled then we would have had an unsettled bub. We did anyway but she wasn't as overtired as she could have been. Love the photos of your little lady, she is beautiful.

Jules the drive was somewhat sucessful but the night wasn't. Her crying started later than normal so i was up later than normal trying to get her to settle. DH and i always end up sh***y at each other because we're tired and frustrated. I hate listening to him snore while i'm trying to get her to sleep. How was the day trip? So so glad the thrush has cleared up for you.

MadB it's sounds like your little one is starting to strech out the night feeds a bit. Lets hope it continues. I've found that Harper is like her wrap now, we too were getting a lot of grunting with it but now it seems to be a bit of a comfort for her.

Kaz i too find i have to remind myself to just concentrate on Harper. Talk to her, play with her, make that important eye contact with her. We get so busy and forget about the little things i think.

Myboys - what is the osteopath for? We had our 8 week check with the CHN today and she said she thinks Connor has silent reflux. She recommended infant gaviscon. Apart from that she said he is growing well as he is now 4.93kg, up from 3.5kg at birth. Connor is also a real fidgeter around 5-6am, fidgeting with his swaddle and grunting so loud so I know what you mean MadB.

Time to express ladies, it takes me that long to catch up that by the time I finish reading it's time to express and then bed so I never get to write anything.

Pickety, i'm really not too informed about an osteopath myself but reading some BB threads on reflux so many have sworn by it helping their little ones so i want to give it a go. I've googled it and it seems to be about gentle manipulation of the musculoskeletal system, i just rung around until i found someone with expereince in treating babies. Harper grunts and groans, i could always here the juices in her tummy and she'd swallow a lot and along with that we'd have our couple of hour screaming session each night. She only even slept for a few hours at a time before her tummy would seem to wake her up. You need a script to get the Zantac but the infant gaviscon you can just get from the chemist, i hope you get results from infant gaviscon as i wish i didn't have to give Harper zantac she hates it. Harper has also been putting on weight wonderfuly the whole time, she never spews apart from the big one last night.

Better go get organised, i have so much to do today and i know the day will fly by.

My LC has recommended we see a paediatric osteo or chiro - apparently it can help by removing pressure / pain which makes it uncomfortable in certain positions - this can then help with BFing ...

Picketty - I haven't expressed yesterday, it was just so hectic, and last night I had Will attached to me from around 1am until 3:30 when I swapped sides, then until 4:30 when I gave him a bottle and put him back into his cradle.

AFM - All is well at the moment, Charlie is putting on weight you can see it in his face, arms and legs. He goes for an ultrasound next week to check his hips. Still feeding well and sleeping all night a bit unsettled during the day which is a pain because that's when the twins decide to get into trouble. They found the nappy rash cream yesterday while I was trying to get Charlie to sleep and they put it all over the carpet on there leg, arms and of course there babies. I was sooooooo cranky. Hana has started to bite Sam I'm just waiting for Sam to bite back. I'm well.

Kaz, you're certainly putting in the hard yards. I hope the osteo or chiro can help. Yup, girls stuff is cute, but before Christmas I was struggling to buy anything that wasn't pink in 0000 or 000! I'd like to know what she looks like in blue :) There's some great boys stuff though... saw a little man in a plaid shirt and cargo shorts toddling along yesterday... naaaaaw... dagnabbit, how can you still be clucky when you have an 8 week old?!

MadB Miri is adorable! I love the dress her Granma made - just beautiful :) When I get my act together I'd like to make some clothes for Millie.

...Oh Lord... watching Friends, The One Where Rachel Has a Baby. TV labours alternately infuriate me and choke me up these days!!!

Went to Zumba last night, it was a blast! I love the idea of a world record attempt :) I noticed how much tension I was holding in my left shoulder - of course that's the arm I pretty much always hold Millie with. An hour of waving my arms around like an idiot loosened it up a little. I feel SO unco (I managed to kick my own hand, what does that tell you?)... but it's so much fun :)

I don't want to jinx it, but Millie has been a Very Good Girl today. Capital letters. Minimal squalling, maximum smiling and sleeping. She must know Babcia (my Mum) is coming :) I've made an executive decision - tonight is pizza night. Mum doesn't get good pizza in the little town where she lives and she loves our local pizza shop... and it means I won't have to cook, huzzah :)

I might not be on much while Mum is here, but I'll be thinking of all of you. Take care :)

I have finally changed my username!!! Not very exciting but i like it. I wanted to keep away from names but wanted something that was significant to me. So i went with the initials of the kiddies middle names (minus the M for mae) :D.

Hi Cathie i've been thinking of you. I never got to say but good on you for going to the movies the other week. Did Charlie go too or were you able to leave him home. It's been so long since i've been to the movies. Hope the ultrasound goes well, do you have any history of displacement in your family? I had one niece who was in a brace and my boys both had the ultrasounds but were fine. MCHN has refered me to my dr as some of Harper's creases don't line up. We'll see what he thinks. Oh you had me laughing hearing about your cheekie twins. We've had some biting here also :o by my big boy Aidan. Bit Charlie on the cheek!! Oh and the nappy cream!! It's so hard to clean up, my Charlie boy has done that also. Oh they all think alike don't they!!??

PP it's good your DH cares about the furniture, even if it is a little frustating :lol: Haha So much of our furniture is "hand me down" and i look at it and dream of replacing it but i know we're better off waiting until the little ones are a bit older. The Zumba sounds like so much fun. Glad you have fun :D Hope you all enjoy having your mum come a visit, i'm sure it'll be lovely. I loved hearing about your speicial day with Millie, it's the absolute best thing when you can think back and say, wow what a good day. I remember the first one i had with Aidan, i wrote it in his baby book :D

Aidan's party was great and he had a ball. It was so fun for mum also ;) because all she had to do was be there and chat to everyone :lol: Harper had a chance to have some hugs with family who really haven't seen her much yet and Charlie boy was a little overwhelmed and just wanted mum. Love my hugs though. Off to the osteo tomorrow and i'm really hoping for some results.

Tonight while trying to settle Harper she fed and fell asleep and i gently just had her sitting/snoozing upright in my arms and she burped beautifuly but her burps woke her. I gave her the other half of her feed and she fell asleep again, this time no burp. Kept her upright for a while then i decided to put her in her cot, i hadn't even gotten my arms from underneather her before she had a little spew and woke up with feeling the juices in her throat. She seems to be a bit more spewy now she's on zantac :dunno: Anyway she's finally asleep which is great.

EJ - Yay on the new username! I sent you a friend request on FB. Found you on PP's FB. I hope the Oesteo helps. I took DS1 to Kinesiology when he was very young. After that session he stopped his projectile vomits & started sleeping through the night. This lady was like an old witch doctor, it was a weird, freaky session but seemed to work. DH wants me to take Eden to, just to cleanse him, but it's just so weird. Plus, Eden is doing just great. I can't remember how I got onto this woman though.

PIXIE - Sorry to hear your BF journey is over but I'm sure it's a little relief for you rather than having all the extra work of trying to BF then bottle top up, expressing etc. Bet you have a great time with your mum..... Enjoy

CATHIE - Glad Charlie is doing so well. Lol at the twins. Boy, I bet they can really get up to mishcef at times

KAZBAH - That sounds like hard work having Will attached for so long during the night. Do you sleep while feeding? How do you manage with Pip during the day? Does he still have day sleeps? Do you sleep while he does?

PICKETTY - So Connor is out of newborn nappies now? They say up to 5kgs. Eden was 3.5kgs at birth too. I'm dying to know how much he weighs now. We have a paed check up next wednesday so will find out then

Sorry if I've missed anyone.

AFM - We're doing just fine. I'm finally over the mastitis. Boy it was terrible. I still have a red BB but hoping it'll settle soon. Just finished the antibiotics. Finally have all my milk back in the left side but the right isn't quite to where it was. There's still plenty there for Eden's feeds anyway. He's pretty easy to get into routine. I try to feed him at 7.30am, 11.30am, 3.30pm then 7.30pm. It seems to be working for now. He goes to bed around 8.30pm and I get straight to bed. He normally wakes at 2am for a feed but last night didn't wake till 3am! Hopefully that'll get longer & longer until he can wake at 5.30am which would be perfect cause that's when DS1 wakes. Anyway, we'll see how we go. He's looking very chubby now, can't wait till our paed apt next wed to find out how much he weighs now.
He can get unsettled at times in his tummy cause he only poops every 3 or 4 days. I thought BF babies normally poo numerous times a day??? Anyway, at least he's pooing. I'll let the paed know but sure it's ok. He still sleeps really well, except in the heat.
That's about it really. I've been watching what I eat so trying to lose these excess kgs. I've decided to head back to weight watchers today to give me some extra motivation.

I'll try to keep up more often in here. I do check in and read but as Picketty said, by the time I finish reading I have to go & do something else.

Hi Cathie! DS has been into the nappy cream too. He decided to put it all over his tummy, and his toy cat's tummy and the floor (luckily tiles not carpet). Oh dear at the biting. It's something DS has done ocasionally, but thankfully he hasn't made a habit of it. Hope all is ok with your little man's hips.

Long time no see Picketty! Sounds like your little man is gaining weight splendidly.

Georgi - Glad to hear you're feeling better. Lol at the Kinesiology witch doctor.
Most babies do poo several (or many) times a day in the first couple of months, but I guess there are always exceptions to the rule. So long as everything else is looking good and he's not constipated then it's probably fine. DD doesn't poo anywhere near as often as DS did (8-10 times a day) and has had a few days when she didn't go at all, but she seems fine.

How was the pizza Pixie? I laughed at your unco zumba moves. I shouldn't - I haven't done anything.

Kaz and Jules - how are your little guys today?

I've been trying to go for walks sometimes, but it's just so hot. It's hard to organise to do anything else either. Zumba is everywhere, but I find it a bit daunting to be honest - actual jumping around exercise is a bit beyond me I think.

After a crap night on Tuesday, last night started out pretty well. she was asleep by 8:30 (woot) and slept a whole FOUR hours. Then fed, changed and back to sleep for another 3. Then she wasn't so keen on sleeping any more. DH had to get up around then anyway so he took her out with him and mum stayed over last night so she watched her till she needed another feed. I got to sleep in till nearly 7am. Booya!

After prevaricating for 3 years or so about buying a wet bag (to put dirty nappies in) I've decided to make one. Should take me about 15 minutes once I actually get on to it.

Well my day has been sooo BAD. Little Charlie boy decided to sleep for an hour this morning and half and hour this afternoon. Sam and Hana have been fighting all day, Sam pooed outside everywhere, than later on he shoved all the toilet paper down the toilet while charlie was crying. I've been in my PJ's all day and I haven't got a thing done. Some one told me that the twins would get easier as they got older, they lied. Sorry No personals as I better get off my butt and do something as Charlie is reasting in his cot.

MadB - Do you sew PUL? Or what will your wetbag be made of? I have ummmmmmmm lots of wetbags. At the moment my fave is the ittybitty lime green minky one.
I know what you mean by jumping around, I remember the first time I went jogging after having Pip, it felt like my insides were falling out!!!! Getting started a little earlier this time though with the Wii.

Georgi - My LC said that feeding in bed is good, but when feeding in bed to put your elbow on the pillow like you're having a portrait taken - your nipple and the baby's cheek should be touching the bed at all times or you risk nipple damage (so Miranda Kerr is doing it wrong!!). I fall asleep with him feeding and I think he actually snoozes too. Either way, it's very relaxing for both of us. Other feeds though :shakehead: aren't as nice - he will fight the boob for 20mins or so until I win, then he sucks for 20 mins. I don't want him thinking that if he fights it he'll get the bottle!!!!

Pip doesn't have day sleeps (hasn't for the best part of a year now) and we take turns looking after Pip - I still do craft with him, make a point of not leaving him without warning etc.

AFM - well he's currently resting in his rocker, he does like it. Have noticed he's now focusing his eyes and grasping things, getting to wiggle around (got wedged in the cradle today :shock:)

Bugger, he's crying, hope everyone's good.

Oh Cathie you poor thing, I hope tomorrow is better for you. I quite often spend the day in my pjs, so don't feel bad about it.

Georgi - we're using up the last of the newborns tomorrow and then he's going into the infant ones. I felt really sad when I picked up the larger size, he is just growing up so quickly, my little baby boy growing into a bigger baby. Why can't they stay tiny babies forever? You are doing really well with spacing your feeding out, Connor is still feeding every 2 hrs during the day, and then generally goes to bed about 6.30-7ish, with a feed at 10-11ish, then he'll go through to 2-3ish and then 5-6ish, and then when I put him down after that feed he'll sleep through to about 8ish so I make sure I go back to bed after the 5-6 feed and get a few extra hours. I've tried the whole changing his nappy in the middle of the night thing but it doesn't make any difference, he just falls asleep again as soon as he is remotely horizontal.

DH and I had a date last night! My parents babysat and so we went to the cinema - I missed Connor so much, but it was great to get out and feel like an adult again. Plus we've been up to the city today and I went mad in the Pumpkin Patch sale (I've got to have a girl next time, the clothes are just sooo gorgeous). Connor had his 8 week immunisations today and I think I found it more distressing than him to be honest. DH came along just to comfort me and hold a tissue for me to cry into. Apparently it does get easier, but I hated seeing the big needle go into him and him get so upset, even if it was very briefly.

Ooops, someone wants their 10pm feed. Have a good day tomrw ladies x

MADB - Yeah he's very settled. He feeds well and sleeps well. He's a bit whingy when he's awake, thankfully he's a good sleeper. I remember DS didn't poo for 7 days & at his 6 week check up I told the paed and he told me to come back to him once it was more than 27days cause that was the record for his clients. Basically, he wasn't concerned. You're keen wanting 3 or 4 kids. I take my hat off to you! We are definately done with the two kids. For sure

CATHIE - Oh no, sorry bout your bad day. I hope today is better. Byron is in the process of TT too. He's doing wonderfully but does have accidents. Yesterday morning he pooed in the potty then 30mins later weed on the floor. Then he did a poo in his undies later in the arvo.. Grrrrr... Hope today is better for you

KAZBAH -That's the way I do feed... It just came naturally that way. I only feed lying down on the right side cause my left nipple is dodgy and its hard to get the right attachment lying down. Eden hates his rocker, which is a bummer. DS1 loved it. It's hard to get much done while he's awake then

PICKETTY -Yeah Edens good with routine. I'm thankful that he takes a dummy cause if I need to extend a feed I just give him a dummy. Yay on your date. That's great. Girls clothes are so much better than boys. It's really hard to get nice boys clothes. I hate that Eden is growing so fast. I already miss that newborn littleness

Well I went to weight watchers yesterday. I'm really happy with their BF program. I have a nutritional background but didn't know much about diet & BF but their program ticks all the boxes. Eden didn't sleep all morning cause we went out to WW then to medicare & did some groceries. He's not use to being out of the house for such a long period of time (I really need to get out more). Got home at 12, fed him, he went to sleep & that was that. He slept all night. He's back asleep now too.

Thanks for the tips Kaz - I'm doing it all wrong! No wonder it's uncomfortable. I'll have to try again some time.

When she threw up a whole feed did she feed all over again? Probably a stupid question but I’m finding Jacob is throwing up a little bit lately and am never sure if I should just keep offering it to him or if he’s full..? I think I’ll be moving Jacob into our room when I get home, out of the lounge room as I think there is too much movement in there that he isn’t sleeping well through the day. Glad Aidan had a great party, you did a wonderful job on the cake!! How did the osteo go?

Picketty – Great weight gain for little Connor there, well done! How lovely you got to have a date, good on you for being strong enough to leave him home, I’m hopeless still...went to get my eyebrows waxed and made mum come with me so she could watch him in the room :lol:

Georgi – Glad you are feeling better, what a rough time you’ve had lately!

Sorry for the short personals, I'm on mums computer while DH rocks Jacob in the pram...We're doing really well, Jacob has been on his best behaviour up here. Mum got a cot for the room I stay in and he's sleeping so well in there!! He's stretching his feeds to roughly 3 hours now!! I am so happy about that. Occasionally he has a few fussy hours where he feeds every hour but it only lasts 2-3 hours and it's late in the afternoon before he goes down for about 3-4 hours. We saw the peadiatrician and he was SO impressed with Jacob (so proud :)) he said he had good focus and was really alert. He said his weight gain was over the top and I could be feeding two babies but he was happy just the same :lol: Jacob now weighs 4710 grams (another 335 grams in 7 days!) He checked for oral thrush and said there is absolutely no sign of it so no more treatment!! Very happy day for us. Oh and on a funny note he said "you have a beautiful little boy there, you need to know that you're doing a great job... he just has a little temper on him!!"

Cluster feeding in the evening can be great when it lets them go longer between feeds Jules. Glad your pead was impressed (should be!)

Someone asked about the wet bag...? IT's PUL, yeah. If I do another I'll have to put another layer on it - the back of the PUL is soooo slippery to sew. I made a little change mat with PUL on the back yesterday too.

Sorry agian ladies, haven't been able to update or even read your posts, as been in hospital. Hi to you all, hugs to your bubs.
Matteo and I are now in our local hospital, we have been here for 3 weeks now. Back when we were in the NICU at the main hospital, I couldn't stay with him, and was only spending about 2 hours a day with him. But here I can stay in hospital with him in the samne room as me, in a cot at the end of my bed.
He is now in a proper crib and is off his monitors apart from the one that alerts me if he stops breathing.
He is off all his tube feeds and is fully breast fed now. The the Chubber has put on lots of weight over the last few weeks, he was 1.84kg (4lb 1oz) at birth and is now 3.09kg (6lb 9oz), he likes his food.
We should have been home as of Thursday, but on Wednesday night, after having his 6 week old immunisations during the day, he was really ill and had a Apnoea attack, where he stopped breathing, luckily we were still in the hospital and his alarm sounded to let me know he had stopped breathing. I had just done my CPR training that day, so had to put it into use, I was so scared.
He is now been monitored, but is OK now.
Home should be Monday or Tuesday.
I have invested in a respiritory monitor for home, to alert me if he has any more breathing issues. It is called the BabySense II, it is great. It's a bit like the Angelcare, but apparently better.

OMG BUTTERFLY - That must've been frightening for you having to do CPR on Matteo. Oh love, so glad he's ok. I bet you can't wait to take him home. What a journey for you hey. Sounds like he's doing great. My DS1 was just on 6 pounds when we got to take him home from the SCN

JULES - Wow sounds like Jacob is doing fabulous. Yay on the feeding 3hourly. I have heard that babies settle more around 6 weeks.

MADB - Are you using cloth nappies?

Well Eden hasn't pooed for at least 4 days. He seems to fart all the time but nothing else. I really hope there's some action soon cause he does get a sore tummy sometimes. He kept waking from around 3am to 6am this morning, moaning & grunting. The poor mite.

DD gets a bit unsettled before a big poo. I think a lot of the grunting and struggling overnight is due to that - she'll finally unload around 5 or 6 then can sleep soem more. too bad mummy has to get up.

Just lost my post but it was only a whinge anyway. I'm so tired i just have to go to bed but i'll try and catch up with you all soon. Only just got Harper into bed about 15 min ago after hours of trying to get her in there and stay there. Her belly is still really bothering her and i'm so frustrated and not being able to help her.

MadB - having time to sew...I'm impressed!! Oh and Jacob fills his nappy every morning about the same time!! He won't sleep until he finishes and then has a nappy change, can take quite a while to pump it all out :lol: (charming!!) He's done some major beauties today though...wow...for a little dude...

BF - Gosh how scary for you, but sounds like you did a wonderful job under pressure, Matteo is very lucky to have such a quick acting mum. Sounds like he's doing really well with weight gain - I'm so pleased for you that he's fulling breast fed now! No more sterilising bottles!! YAY! Fingers crossed you have him home with you very soon!!

Georgi - Any action in the nappies? hope he doesn't leave it too long for you or it's going to be a whopper! Dumb question - do you know he has a sore tummy by all the grunting? cause Jacob grunts SO much...his pead said that some babies are just born grunters...but I wonder if it's his tummy..? Sounds like you and Eden are both doing well. How Byron loving his new little brother?

As for us...we got home today, big day on the road, our six hour trip now takes seven and a half hours...which probably isn't too bad... Jacob has been such a good boy lately I just really hope that it lasts!! I was wondering how long (those BF'ing mum's out there), do your little ones feed for? Jacob seems to be shortening his feeds and when I change him and put him back on he reluctantly takes more and quite often throws up quite a lot of milk...I wonder if this means he's full? I also wonder if he's shortening his feeds to around 10-15 mins can that affect my supply? I know I have tonnes of milk at the moment but worry if he feeds less I may start to have problems... any ideas? Sorry, I may just be being stupid but I am happy with our progress and I'd be so sad if I did something to stuff it up! Typical newbie I think, worrying about everything...

10-15 mins is fine. they get quicker as they get older - he'll probably be done within 2 mins in a couple of months:)

DD's nights are... variable :lol: She's a grunter too. I don't think she's in pain, maybe just still getting used to the different sensations of digesting stuff.

Jules, DS took 1hr+ to feed at first. This gradually decreased to 20-30 minutes by the time he was 3 months old. Then, around 4 months, he was suddenly done within 2-3 minutes - it was almsot overnight. I freaked out and tried to force him to have more, which resulted in breast refusal. Turned out it's quite a common thing at that age as they get more interested in the world around them (less time for comfort sucking I guess). Anyway, my point is that he was fine - they can get all the milk out very quickly as they get bigger and stronger.

I'm going to be selfish again girls, i'm so sorry but it's all i have time for. My time for peace and quiet is now and it's so late and i'll be so tired in the morning when everything has to begin all over again. I will calling for a dr appt first thing in the morning because... i don't know if there is any fix to what Harper is feeling right now but i need to feel like i'm doing something for her. Right now i am so confused and tired and frustated that i'm not. I'm her mum and i should be able to fix anything for her, a hug and reasurance that i'm here should be enough shouldn't it?? It just does nothing though, my poor girl is so tired, yawning and falling asleep only to be woken by a burp and the gastric juices that just won't leave her alone. I'm listening to advice and reluctantly trying a few other things but i wish i wasn't giving her anything at all other than my milk. At the same time i feel so responsible for her feeling like she does because i'm the one who feeds her and it's obviously effecting her. Anyway vent over i must sleep.

The only thing that helped us with DS was to keep him upright pretty much all the time. I slept sitting up in bed holding him for weeks. I also had him propped upright in the pram with rolled up nappies to stop him from sliding over. He just couldnt' lie down at all.

Well I have decided to look for a playgroup this year for the twins as they are such a handful I think they are bored. Well charlie boy has been great, sleeping eating and having a cry every now and than. We took the kids into Sydney on saturday to the history Musum as Lily wanted to have a look at the dino's and than we walked down to darling Habour and was all ready to go to the Aqurium and than we looked at the prices. $29.99 for Adults and $17.99 for kids no matter the age, can you believe it so we just walked around and had some lunch. We had a great day..

goodness cathie, that's so expensive! dh has finally got agreed to a birthday pressie - friends of the zoo membership for the year, i can see it being something the whole family will enjoy. only have to go 3 times and it's paid for itself. glad charlie's been good for you.

ej - sorry you're having a hard time, hope the docs can help. like marcellus, i slept upright with pip on my shoulder for the first 6 weeks of his life - he didn't have reflux though - and found a good recliner made the world of difference to my sleep.

as for us - will is having his stormy period right on track before the 5-week developmental leap. these past couple of days we've really seen differences - he's looking around, making eye contact and smiling at us. plus he's starting to reach for toys on his playmat. so exciting ;)

Just a quick one... We finally had a poo! Yay. It was 5 or 6 days I think. Also my milk is back in full swing. He's feeding much shorter and seems to be only taking one side again. But the down side is that he's fussing on the boob cause it's coming too fast. Not that I go out much, but yesterday I was visiting a friend I hadn't seen in years (and her family was there) and Eden kept fussing cause it was coming too fast and would come off & I'd be squirting everywhere. Trying to get him back on was a chore as he was coping milk spray in his face. Maybe best for me not to feed in public anymore. But how annoying

EJ – How did the doctors appointment go? Hope you were able to get some help. That’s excellent news on the dummy!!! It took Jacob a while to take his too but since he has my boobs and I have been VERY thankful!! :) Dummies can be such a wonderful thing. Just a thought – have you tried putting some towels under Harper's mattress so her head is slightly higher than the rest of her body? We have done this with Jacob’s mattress in the bassinette and it’s made the world of difference.. just a thought, you may have already tried!! :hug: don’t be so hard on yourself! You’re doing a wonderful job by just caring as much as you do.

Cathie – Wow, that is way too expensive…sounds like you made the most out of your day regardless! Charlie sounds like such a good bub, I’m glad he’s still behaving for you. I am finally coming round to the idea that the rough stage is short lived and can see myself going back for another one…if you had of asked me two/three weeks ago I was still adamant I wasn’t going to have any more! Sounds a little ridiculous to you I’m sure, considering you have six. I have brothers that are twins so fingers crossed I don’t end up having twins!

Kaz – Yay for the smiles!!! They are the greatest…so addictive! Sounds like Will is doing so well. :)

Georgi - :lol: had to have a laugh at the squirting of milk everywhere…I had to feed in a mothers room the other day and I’m so lucky I had a spare top as when I picked Jacob up to burp him I reached down to pull up my nursing pad and bra and I had leaked milk ALL over my top – how embarrassing!

AFU – I just can’t believe how big Jacob is getting already :( I miss his tiny little body. He has been out of newborn sized nappies for a week now…he’s into infant already the little chubba. We had to change his size in a hurry as I went to visit my SIL and she was having a cuddle and it went up the top of his nappy and up his back, ruining his outfit and hers! The following day we pulled up at the paediatrician’s office and he ruined yet another outfit so we had to change him in the car. We got so nervous every time he passed wind!! :rofl: Still doing good here, he still spends a lot of time yawning and falling asleep at the boob but he is definitely nowhere near as cranky with overtiredness as he's finally sleeping more. When he gives a really big smile he sometimes has half a giggle, it is sooo cute! I can’t wait till he giggles properly. Anyways, better go get some things done while he’s sleeping :) Will post a link to my facebook in my next post so you can see how much he’s grown!

lol, DD is the same pulling off as it's too fast. I have to have a terry cloth at hand to press on otherwise everything gets soaked. I try sitting her more upright and leaning back - seems to help a bit, but she's a bit too floppy still to sit up. She'll be right once she's bigger. DS was the same.

Well, I spoke too soon. We've had a horrible day here. Jacob just wouldn't sleep no matter what I tried so I have had a very over tired and cranky baby on my hands. I suppose we all have our days right?! I was hanging out for DH to wake up so I could have a shower and brush my teeth at least but he was going to the gym, I broke down and said "please don't go to the gym today, I've had a rough day and could really use your help, just watch him while I have a shower please.." his response was 'when do I get to do something for myself?' ...... and needless to say, he's at the gym while I lay here on a mattress with Jacob finally cat napping beside me. What a crap crap day. Jacobs routine is to be bathed at six but given that DH has upped and gone to the gym I'll have to change that to work around him...*sigh*

Will slept for 8 hours on Sunday night! And 6 hours last night! Amazing! What's weird is that when Pip first started sleeping through, I'd stay awake and check on him every hour ... with Will I"m just sleeping ....
