Well hubby and the two older kids are going away for the weekend family thing up at COffs, not going too long of a drive just for 2 nights. So left at home with 4 little ones should be very interesting. Will keep you all informed !!!!!!!!!

she is loving the sitting up thing, except she can only balance for so long, but if i lay her on the floor she goes wild after 20 or so mins, hates being flat! makes for interesting days trying to keep her happy! :wall: but she will soon figure it out im sure!:
i was worried about the choking thing, but when she did so well with lumpy food i got confident.
ive bought her some watermelon so ill give her that tonight after her veg and see how we go!

AFU: we are all good here, scored summah a fisher price giraffe thing on ebay for $10 instead othe $89 i saw them for at toys r us, so we picked that up today, no way will she use it yet but always good to have things ready to go!
looked after my GF's 3 kids last night, so between DH and I we had a 3yo, 2yo, 9mo and a 6mo (summah) and OMG it was crazy!
poor summah looked like s stunned mullet watching the other 3 run wild, coz thats what they do :shakehead: and it was her feral time, and the 9mo hit feral time, WOW is all i can say!
needless to say the thought of another baby anytime soon has been pushed well away! :lol:
cant wait to have DH home for 3 days with the long weekend, we are pulling up the old carpet ready for the new stuff next week, and doing some painting. should be fun filled!

Well, Miss Hannie is 6 months old today!! All day I've been looking at the clock.... 10.30am - was in theatre. 10.49am - Hannah was born. 1pm - said goodbye to Hannah before she went to the childrens. 7pm - she was in surgery.
Went to Mother's Group/ Playgroup today as we haven't been in a long time and I've just come away completely heartbroken. Why can't they just leave Hannah alone??
I'm sick of them making jokes about her being so small. Its not her fault. Yes, she was 6 weeks early (which they all seem to forget!) but she only measured at 30 weeks when she was born. So she was 10 weeks behind in size!
"Aren't you ever going to grow"
"Thought you'd be bigger by now!"
"She's just so small compared to 'Baby E' (who is 1 day older)"
Or comparing Hannah's size to my niece who is 2 months older. Hannah was my neices birth weight at nearly 3 months.
I don't mind these comments, its when its said in such a hurtful way that it makes me feel like a poor mother who can't make her child grow as fast as people want her to.
I keep saying that its part of her condition, babies with Gastroschisis are small for quite a few years before catching up.
Hannah's not going to grow overnight. She'll probably be small for her age right up until she goes to school.

Ah, sorry that's getting you down charlotte. Sometimes people just say things without really thinking. From what you describe though, and given her starting point and condition, it sounds to me that she's doing remarkably well. I must admit that I often make those sorts of comments :redface: I'm never trying to be mean though (can't speak for those women in your playgroup mind you). Only compared to my DS most other people's kids are really big, so it's the other way round :lol: It is a pretty dumb thing to say though, isn't it? As if you wouldn't have noticed she was small.
Charlotte, people do say things without thinking, I use to get soo angry at people when they use to comment on the twins eg are they twins, are they identical ummm yes and boy and girl can not be identical, Inside I would be ###### but I would just smile. Don't let it get you down.
Well we have had a great couple of days only that Mr Charlie boy dosen't want to go to bed and I do so who's going to win ME..........

Ummm formula - yeah, there's no advantage of moving to the toddler or 6-mth formulas at all (my MCHN told me that!). Funny for me - went out shopping with Mum today (they're visiting from Brissie) and Will had been woken by Pip jumping on him. Now mum isn't into BFing, and so far today Pip had told her all the foods out there, finishing with "and mummy's breastmilk for William!" - Mum generally looks up at the ceiling when I feed him ... we were at the Obrama Chocolate Lounge having a hot drink and Will was restless, so I put him on the boob - mum looks to the table at the left - there's a very young (2 weeks? maybe?) baby there snacking down on booby juice. Looks to the right - an older bub snacking down ... gave up and paid full attention to Pip!!! :rofl:
So Will is not only rolling from back to front to back to front, but also starting the commando crawl. :omg: Gave him some sweet potato today, not impressed. might leave it a bit longer.

Miri keeps trying to help with typing. She finally pooed today - after 8 days. it was a pretty good one. I've given her a few things to play with, but she's not too impressed with food when it's in her mouth. Between the tongue thrust and gag reflex not much can get past. She still reckons she's up for it and you should see the evil looks at meal times!
Day sleeps are better on the whole, nightime not. oh well.
I've had to put all the small/medium nappies away adn we're into the bigger ones. And realise I need to make more. fabric shopping!

We got a sleep-through last night, it happens here from time to time. So I'm feeling great! Day sleeps are still rubbish though. Whatevers.
Nell-bell had another go at rice noodles tonight. Not really a fan - prefers to pull carrot from mumma's chopsticks. She's going wild on avocado in the mornings still; definitely a favourite. She is now well out of 00s, and busting out of some 0s! Mostly wondersuits and pants - she has really long legs, and combined with her big cloth bum, pants just don't fit. Were going for needles tomorrow. Booooooooo.

Charlotte - Bit late but Happy half Birthday to Hannah!!! :hug: I'm so sorry to hear that you're upset. Just know that Hannah is an absolutely amazing little girl and is a total miracle, I still get teary just thinking about her story....remarkable little girl. You should be so proud of how she's done and how wonderful of a job you're doing, just focus on that and let those idiots get over themselves.....If it makes you feel any better people are always telling me how "BIG" or "CHUBBY" or "FAT!" Jacob is....bloody annoying. He's completely average with his weight as per his six month check up anyway.
Kaz - :rofl: about your mum and the breastfeeding... some people find it so uncomfortable. Yay for commando crawling, what a CLEVER little boy!!!

Will try catch up later ladies but.... Jules how's Jacob going with the zantac?? We've just had the worst two nights in ages and all i can put it down to is it being that time again. SHe just would not stay in her cot. Her day sleeps have been pretty average also (even for her). I'm going to have to check the dosage/weight again i think. I've had no sleep :wall: I've already warned Aidan that mummy might be a bit grumpy today...
Hey EJ - Jacob seemed to be going really well so I cut him back to just his 2ml each night for a week no dramas but then I dropped it to 1ml and he's been out of sorts..crying during feeds etc...bit early I think. What's Harpers current dose? Jacob has been on 1.5ml morning and 2ml at night. I really hope it isn't reflux with Harper and she's just having a few off days that will pass
(maybe even just get some teeth instead!!) I think she's suffered enough from this miserable reflux!! Poor mummy not getting any sleep :hug: I hope it passes and you both get a break. xo
Harper was on 1.2ml 3 times a day and when i attempted to decrease that a few weeks back we had no sucess. I called the Dr this morning and she can now go up to 1.5ml. If we have our old girl back i'll know it's that if not maybe it could be teeth but i tried looking in there the other day and didn't see anything as yet. Her days and nights are terrible at the moment.
Surely both Jacob and Harper have to be getting close to being able to get rid of this reflux!?
Between her and my DH snoring i'm going crazy. And then between me hitting him and Harper crying DH isn't getting any sleep either. You could imagine we're a pretty happy pair right now :lol:
Jules -- Jacob isn't fat!! He's sooo gorgeous!!
MadB -- I don't mind people commenting on her size, its just that they DO make fun of her. There's a woman there, her twins are 8 now and they were born at about 34-35 weeks (they were both well over 4 pound each) and she thinks she knows everything about premmies. She kept saying when we got home from hospital that Hannah would catch up within a few weeks. Um.... She's 6 months old and 5.4kg..... lol. I kept telling her that Hannah would grow slowly but she didn't believe me.
Hannah is on .4ml twice a day of Zantac. She's allowed 1ml a day at the most. It increases with weight, so she was 5kg and on 1ml. Its .2ml per kg I think.
She'll probably be on it for quite a few years to come. Just a result of her defect.
Hannah can roll (when she tries reeeeaaalllly hard) from tummy to back. She's getting soooo frustrated because she can't roll back the other way. She nearly in a U shape trying to get onto her tummy. She's soo close!! Everytime she goes to roll we hold our breath thinking that she's going to make it. lol
Got injections and physio on Tuesday, so that should be fun!! Injections at 8.45am, then gotta drive nearly an hour and a half to the bigger town for physio. Hannah is going to be soooo happy. NOT. Going to give her some panadol so she sleeps all the way there and hopefully she's a happy girl for the physio.
No teeth yet. I'm at my wits end waiting for this little bugger to come through!! Its been weeks and she's getting grumpier and grumpier and actually crying a bit. Her gum is swelling more and more. I'm certain its just under the surface. Bonjela helps and if she's really bad I'll give her a little bit (half dose) of panadol and at least then she'll have a decent sleep and be happier. Poor little bubba. :'-C
How many of you guys do swimming lessons for the little ones? Want to start Hannah one day, especially with all these kids drowning in the last couple years.
It was asked a few weeks ago, but I'll ask now!! Now that our little angels are half a year old, anyone thinking of another bubba? Its crossed my mind a few times, we've even picked out a name and we're really hoping for another little girl.
I know I'm not ready!! Maybe a honeymoon baby in September? lol...
But, I loved knowing that there was a little person inside me. That was until things started to go so pear shaped after 20 weeks. And then it was all stress and me praying that she'd make it out alive and that the doctors were wrong about her definatly going to die.
I think I'll probably get some counselling before I get pregnant again. I know DP is sick of me waking up screaming from nightmares about my appointments at the Womens.
Nice day today here. Should probably hang out the washing that I washed yesterday.....
Charlotte, Hannah is a perfect little (and i don't mean little literally) bundle, she's perfect as she is. I hope the comments aren't meant the way they come across, sometimes people don't think before they speak or mean what they say. I didn't realise Hannah was on zantac also, do you notice a difference if the dose starts getting a little low also? It sounds like Hannah is so close to rolling, once she gets it a few times you won't be able to stop her. I probably won't do swimming lessons with Harper for a little bit, if anything soon we may go to the local pool and give her a bit of a feel for the water. Second baby thoughts already?? I remember when i was starting to think about number 2 and there were a few threads about the perfect age gap that i looked at, i think it comes down to the individual choice and when you're lucky enough to fall pregnant again. I don't think there is a right or wrong. There is 25 months between Aidan and Charlie (i was pregnant when Aidan was 16 or 17 months i think). I was no longer feeding him and we had decided we'd like to start trying and was pregnant the first try. Then our little cheeky Harper apeard in my belly just after Charlie's 1st Birthday so there are 20 (almost 21) monthe between the two of them. With a 4, 2 & 6 month old life is hectic but i love it and wouldn't have it any other way. The boys are great mates (most of the time) and they are wonderful with Harper to the point where she is smothered by them. It's a juggling act a lot of the time and your patience will become more and more as they have to but the love each individual brings into the house is something that just doesn't compare and that is the best part. There is a huge part of me that would love one more but the only thing that is making me think twice about it is wondering if i can handle life getting any busier. But Cathie does it and is still sain and happy and well and loving life so it's obviously possible :D
